"Mexi-Cali cafe La Chiquiada, owned by Catherine Zuber, is opening in downtown Decatur this spring for breakfast tacos, conchas, and coffee in the morning and street tacos, roast chicken dinners, and happy hour in the evening. Located on West Trinity Place in the same building as co-working space WeWork, La Chiquiada will feature banquette seating and a 12-seat bar inside, along with a covered patio overlooking the courtyard at the Amli apartment complex. Mornings kick off at La Chiquiada with breakfast tacos and freshly baked conchas and buttermilk biscuits topped with jam, carnitas, or chipotle cheese, and coffee from Prevail Coffee roasters. The cafe menu shifts gears later in the day, with lunch and dinner offering street tacos, quesadillas, and larger entrees, like chile relleno, citrus-marinated flank steak, and a roast chicken dinner for two served with rice and fresh tortillas. Happy Hour features snacks and wines from northern California as well as cocktails, including a margarita, a cucumber gimlet, and a take on the gin fizz. Look for a Mexican-inspired weekend brunch here, too." - Beth McKibben

Came here for brunch with my husband. Very cute spot with nice decorations and very clean. We sat at the bar and the bartender/server was very nice! We ordered a cinnamon roll which was so delicious and 2 breakfast burritos which were equally delicious and filling! Definitely will be back again!

Google
This place is fantastic! Their brunch selections are fantastic and incredibly well priced. The coffee was boutique coffee shop quality too. It’s hard finding a place that has really good food AND really good coffee, but this is the place. There’s a nice outdoor patio, but the indoor seating is nice as well. Service was exceptional and everyone working was incredibly helpful and attentive. There are a lot of vegetarian options which are appreciated. I will be coming back again - and soon!

Google
We got the guac + chips and tacos. The guac was very bland, almost flavorless. The carnitas and al pastor tacos were so small that we left hungry (put a fork next to them for comparison) and the taste was "just ok". Prices were way too expensive for what we got. This place has a nice atmosphere but the food was not good enough for us to recommend or even go back

Google
Absolutely delicious Mexican fare without the heaviness you get from the order by number restaurants. Terrific bartender and tasty cocktails as well. We will be back. *** we did go back, for breakfast and it was yummy. 👍👍 I was a little suspicious of biscuits at a Mexican place but these were quite tasty. They have a tasty jam that looks like strawberry but that has a very unique flavor I meant to ask what it was. We are adding it as one of our regular breakfast spots.

Google
The staff members were extremely kind and accommodating making sure to make recommendations. The prices were more than reasonable. ( 3 tacos for $10) The food was delicious and the tortillas and salsa are made in house. They also validate parking. I actually can't wait to return to this hidden gem.

I thought La Chiquiada was good. We ended up here as a happy accident. I did not know where it was, but had seen that it had good ratings. It is a little untraditional, and the service and aumbiance were a little lack luster. However, it was different, fresh, and tasty. The cheese dip is not "traditional" cheese dip, which the server did prepare us for ahead of time. It was a pimento cheese spread, which was good. It is not what I expect at a Mexican restaurant, but I liked it. The Margarita was good, but it was like half of the glass had salt all over it, and the other side of the rim had none. The enchiladas were a little greasy, but good. The portion size was generous. I actually thought the beans and rice were decent. I had to get the cauliflower taco just to try, and it was good. I think my husband got carnitas, which he liked. I kind of felt like the service was just okay. We were definitely not a priority, which I may not have minded if it hadn't been our first time there. Overall, I would eat here again. I'm willing to give it a second chance, despite the fact that the cheese dip is pimento cheese.

Google
Great place, all the food I had was excellent, better than I expected. The salsa they served with the breakfast burrito was a nice touch and tasted great. Service was a little rough around the edges but pleasant overall. It's got a nice relaxed atmosphere and there was some live music when I stopped in that added a neat vibe and was also at an appropriate volume. Prices seemed a bit inconsistent across the menu. My only real negative feedback is that I ordered iced tea and was charged a dollar for a refill, and then charged for a second tea when I asked for a to-go cup. So I ended up being charged basically the price of a beer for 3 glasses of tea, which might as well be a crime in Georgia.

Google
This was such a good hidden gem taco spot. The service was amazing with the very attentive waitress and the bartender who made our “sassy margarita” fresh and with lots of love. We tried the guac which was really good. We also had the steak and chicken tacos. My partner loved his steak tacos and said it was the best steak taco he’s ever had. I had The chicken and wished it was cubed chicken instead of shredded but still good nonetheless. We will be back for sure !

Yelp
On a first visit, my wife and I went to La Chiquiada on January 9, 2025, Thursday evening, and sat at the bar, where we ordered chips, salsa, street tacos, and beer and wine. I had not read any reviews, and I didn't know exactly where the place was within the lower expanse of a huge residential building in downtown Decatur. I wasn't expecting anything exceptional. And yet everything was, from the service to the ambiance to the food, all of which was fresh, obviously prepared with great care, and served in generous portions. One of the nice touches of this restaurant is the large collection of framed photos and other objects on a wall. They're from the owner's extended family, rendering a warm, homey touch, belying the customary advice that a professional decorator should handle all the ornamentation of a space. Highly recommended. Parking is easy in the building, and the restaurant validates the ticket.

Yelp
Muy Delicioso! If you're looking for delicious food with a great ambiance La Chiquiada is the place. They have amazing margaritas, awesome staff, and great food options! We ordered the nachos and a couple of Margs off the happy hour menu. Without a doubt the best nachos I've had in awhile. They were full of toppings and cheese but still tasted light and refreshing. The sauces that they provided with it were absolutely fantastic. Not sure how they made those sauces but they are life changing. And the chips.... Chefs kiss! They have a great drink menu. Always have different seasonal drinks. I'm not the biggest marg drinker due to them typically being sweet, I went out on a limb and got the seasonal pomegranate marg and I'm glad I did. The marg was refreshing and the tequila was bueno! (And not sweet from sugary syrups). Once spring rolls around they have a great patio for a hangout session with friends or even by yourself. If you're questioning about La Chiquiada, drop the other options and go check it out!

Yelp
I went to La Chiquiada for a friend's birthday. I made a reservation just in case but the place was empty enough that it did not affect our party size. I've seen advertising for happy hours, little events or summer happy hours, and holiday changes. They apparently validate parking at AMLI Decatur Parking Garage, but there's also paid street parking nearby. Decor is aesthetic, I really enjoyed the decorations, lighting, and paintings. I got the slow cooked carnitas, 2 T&T's (Tequila & Tecate), and frozen bellini. The food was delicious, but presentation could have been better. From a standpoint, it just looks like a mixed bowl. However, the menu feels very limited.

Yelp
La Chiquiada is a great bar, restaurant, and happy hour spot in downtown Decatur! It's a little tucked away and not right on the main square, but once I was looking for it, it was easy to spot with the outdoor string lights. As a bonus, they validate parking in the AMLI Decatur garage next door. Happy hour is available every day, 4-6 on the patio and 4-7 at the bar. We tried both the merry and the seasonal margaritas (currently pomegranate but frequently changes), and both were delicious! The owner Cat was serving drinks while we were there, and her and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly. I think we might become happy hour regulars, and I can't wait to enjoy the patio once it's warmer!

Yelp
This was a decent spot for happy hour. It has an Inside and outside area. There is plenty of space if you had a decent size party with you. They have a bar, and the bartender was super cool. I got there first and got a chance to talk to her while I waited and she was very comfortable and chill to talk to. the restaurant is kind of tucked away. It is lodged in an apartment building, so you have to know where you are going to find it (its not facing the front of the street so you have to walk around). I had a friend who took an uber there and it was hard to pinpoint the drop off point, because you have to walk around to find it. They have some good happy hour specials. And they also have plenty of drinks to boot (obviously its Mexican so margaritas were on deck). The bartender made me a bartender to my specifics and it was good. They have plenty of tacos on special (chicken, beef, etc). They were well worth it and for a good price. I would go back if I was in the area for a good happy hour situation. You can spend about $20 and leave fullish and happy!

Yelp
Great service, the margaritas were excellent and the food was delicious! Recommend the guacamole and caldo de pollo

Micaela R.

Yelp
9/10 I really loved this place. I came on a quiet Wednesday night and it was awesome. I really enjoyed their margaritas which was perfect and their ceaser salad with carnitas (I know what you're thinking...who goes to a Mexican place to get a ceaser salad) Cinco de Mayo is around the corner and I know I'll be tearing up tacos left and right. The guacamole here was really good as well but a small sharing for two people. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of, this place doesn't just serve queso. They have a chipotle sharp pimento cheese but no just plain queso. I'd still come back, our server Dillion was so sweet and I love the area.

Julie R.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! My friend and I grabbed a bite to eat here after a Highland Yoga class. The atmosphere is charming, the servers are very attentive and friendly, the tacos are delicious, and it's very easy to eat gluten free here. 5 stars!

Jana H.

Yelp
Great little spot for Mexican food in Decatur. We ended up here after walking up, and we decided to try a new spot. We sat at the bar, and there were several happy hour specials. We opted for nachos and a variety of tacos. The nachos would have been better with a queso vs cheddar cheese, but the tacos were fantastic. The handmade tortillas really made them! The service was only ok (I don't think the young waitress was trained very well). There were a few mishaps like not receiving utensils, etc., but the values at happy hour were worth the ok service. I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu as well as for coffee and breakfast.

Yelp
I called Catherine to make a reservation for my daughters birthday dinner, a party of 12. She went over & beyond in every category service, food and hospitality!!! It was a super delicious food and a most memorable evening. A BIG THANK YOU CATHERINE !!!!

Liv J.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant tucked away nearby trinity place and Agnes Scott college, nearby a great apartment complex. The service is amazing and the staff are truly a team. They made us feel like royalty. The food was delicious. I wish I lived nearby by so I can sample all the delicious cocktails and foods and walk home satisfied. The staff again are beautiful and young, they have gone above and beyond making my family and I feel so important. The definition of great service and we came with a little one. They brought us extra forks, water, to go box. Thank you. We will come back again

John F.

Yelp
What a find! Fantastic food. The carne asada tacos, guacamole, and queso - superb! Great ambience. Only surpassed by the amazing service. Would highly recommend. Thanks to the staff for a great evening celebrating my son's birthday.

Nisha T.

Yelp
Recently checked this place out on Wednesday night. I love the area it's in not overly crowded and quiet. The margaritas were 10/10! The guacamole was good, it bit small for the price. They don't offer queso but I tried their verde salsa it was thicker than I was expecting. For my entree I tried their chicken enchiladas plate which came with rice and beans. The beans had a great taste but they were very thick and cold. The enchiladas were good a little thick not a lot of chicken but still good. The rice was cold and I could do without the peas but if it was warmer it would be really. The margaritas definitely took it to a four and the service was great as well.

Yelp
I have to say what initially brought me to this restaurant were the amazing Yelp reviews and let me tell you, the reviews did not disappoint. I really have to say this restaurant has turned into one of my favorite Mexican restaurants so far. This restaurant is located in Decatur, GA under the AMLI apartments. Parking is in the apartment complex parking garage. However, the restaurant does validate your parking ticket. Now let's get to good stuff. The food! For my girls night I brought my friend to this restaurant and we decided to order the Chicken Enchilada, the slow cooked carnitas along with additional tortillas, Grilled street corn and the full bloom and the Mim's Mojito for our cocktails. My friend said the Chicken Enchiladas were amazing and the slowed cooked carnitas I ordered were everything. Now the slow cooked carnitas do not come with tortillas. It comes on a bed of Mexican rice , refried beans, queso fresco, pickled onions and cilantro. Of course, I had to add some sour cream and hot sauce on the side lol but when I tell you everything was delicious. Everything was delicious and very authentic and appetizing. I am not much of a Mexican cuisine lover because some of the restaurants I have tried are more of a Tex-Mex style rather than being truly authentic but La Chiquiada is the real deal! I met the owner Kathryn and her mother who were nothing but accommodating and very nice as well as their staff. Kathryn informed us her restaurant has only been open for one year but let me tell you, based off the reviews, everyone is loving this place. The restaurant is a good size with a nice patio and lovely decor. I told Kathryn that with the food being so amazing, that I would be back for their brunch. Please everyone, if you are looking for a new authentic Mexican restaurant, La Chiquiada is the place to visit. Run don't walk because this place is something you don't want to miss out on. Thanks Kathryn!

Yelp
La Chiquiada is exactly what Decatur needed- outstanding Mexican that, dare I say, is some of the best I've had in all of ATL. We stopped into this somewhat hidden-away and humble spot a bit off the square for dinner recently, and their food and excellent service far exceeded our expectations. We started with the freshest margaritas, before moving onto their delicious dips and chips, with their slightly smoky rojo being the standout. Her tangy Caesar salad and cheese quesadillas hit the spot, while I had to partake in the chile relleno, my all-time favorite dish. Good rellenos are hard to find in this part of the country, but La Chiquada's, cheesy and swimming in the freshest red salsa, is probably in the top three I have found in the state. But the standout, by far, was the perfectly seasoned and creamy frijoles, better than probably any I've had in Atlanta- and I've had a lot. As displaced Texans, our expectations for Mexican food are high, and even though this spot self-defines as Cali, the quality and flavor will satisfy any Texan, Californian, or West Coast tastes. La Chiquiada is a real one, my new favorite Mexican spot in town, and the best hidden gem in Decatur.

Yelp
Cost: $$ Food: * * * Service: * * * Ambiance: * * * * ------------------------------------- This is a very chic and trendy place. An upscale Mexican restaurant with some classic options. The place itself is very modern and trendy. I really enjoyed the hand painted murals with the high ceilings. Music was definitely on point and fit the atmosphere to a T. We were there for a business lunch, and so we had limited time. The food was taking a long time to come out, and it was a little bland and frankly, a little small. The chips and salsa were my favorite out of the whole meal. But they are also a la carte. So just be aware. All and all, it's worth a stop by to try. It is a fun place to experience at least once.

Ciara B.

Yelp
Location La Chiquiada is located within the interior of an apartment complex. If you are looking to see it from the street, you may miss it. Parking There are parking garages around the restaurant, but if you park in the apartment complex's garage you can get your parking validated. The parking garage is well lit and a very short walk to the restaurant. Service I sat at the bar and Aaron was so kind and attentive! He checked on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed Food To drink I had a virgin spicy margarita. Being that the drink is made with a jalapeno liquor, Aaron went above and beyond to hand muddle fresh jalapenos for my drink. It was delicious! I ordered 2 chicken tacos, elote and the taquitos. My food was good and had flavor. The taquitos could have been wrapped in a thinner tortilla for my preference, but the fire sauce it was paired with was way better than expected. Don't let the name "fire" mislead you, it isn't spicy at all.

Yelp
Went once a long time ago and was not impressed. Decided to give it another try for brunch this morning, and it was so much better! The service was very prompt, food and drink were excellent, and prices were very reasonable. They have improved so much, and we will definitely be going back!

Ashley L.

Yelp
So I heard mixed things about this place but I always try to come with an open mind. A friend and I went here to dinner last night. While the staff and service were great, the food was quite underwhelming. We started out with salsa verde. It was very very bland. It lacked salt/seasoning. Maybe needed some citrus to bring it to life. Even the chip's didn't have any kind of salt on it. But they came out warm and crispy. So they were ok. For my drink I got the sassy senorita. I admit they mixed it very well, however, there was a lot of ice in it which watered it down after awhile. You also got ice every time you took a sip. Maybe I would feel differently if I had a straw or something. For my entree I had the chicken enchiladas. Again the rice and beans lacked salt/seasoning. The chicken enchiladas seemed promising from the first few bites but as I continued eating I noticed the chicken was dried out and the tortilla shell was hard. The saving grace was the sauce and cheese that goes on top. Maybe it was an off day for the restaurant. But if they are not going to add salt/seasoning then at least put salt on the table. Another note was they do validate parking. However, even though she gave us the sticker we still ended up paying $8. That was disappointing. Would I try this place again? Possibly. But they definitely need to start adding salt to their food

Jennifer S.

Yelp
We LOVE La Chiquiada! The owner, Catherine, is so personable and provides the best customer service! The house salad with chicken (I know this sounds boring) is the best salad I've ever had. The seasonal cocktails are delicious. We also recently used La Chiquiada to cater a friend's b-day party. Everybody raved!!

Hamilton P.

Yelp
Great food and top tier service. The margaritas are the best in Atlanta. Will absolutely be back.

Haley T.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is super vibrant and very welcoming. The staff was extremely kind and checked on us constantly. While this was all great, I was a little disappointed with *some* of the food and the pricing of their drinks. A margarita for $15 should be criminal - regardless of where you live. Though it tasted good, it is not worth the price. However a beer for $4 was justifiable as that's the "norm" for the Atlanta area. The Chipotle Cheese was DELICIOUS. I could've had an entire bowl to myself. Their roja salsa was super unique and also had a tasty flavor. Chips were hot and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, both my fiancé and I weren't impressed with our main courses. My fiancé was highly disappointed with the Chille Relleno. It was smothered in cheese which made it hard to taste the actual pepper, as well as cutting it to eat. For me, the chicken enchiladas had a good flavor, but it was also smothered in cheese and the inside felt a tad dry. I'd recommend putting less cheese on top, and focusing more of putting cheese inside the dishes (stuffed in the Relleno and baked in the enchilada). More enchilada sauce would've been better than the smothered cheese on top. The rice and beans were great though! I read a lot of the reviews and I'm glad a lot of people enjoy their food, however, we wouldn't likely return. Overall, I do recommend going ahead and giving it shot as they definitely have great service and some great flavors. I just hope the main courses will be adjusted in the future.

Yelp
I work in the building above this spot and have been trying to check it out for weeks. I have not done their breakfast or dinner but this spot is perfect for lunch and coming to grab a quick bite. It is located around the corner from the usual hustle and bustle of downtown Decatur, but still within walking distance from the MARTA. THEY VALIDATE PARKING for those parked in the parking deck of the apartments that are right next door to them. It may look tight upon walking in, but there is ample seating: at the bar, several indoor tables, and a good amount of outdoor seating as well (with fans and heaters) Their server was friendly and professional. The wait for a bit long, but we chucked it up to limited staff. The interior decoration makes it very Instagram-able, but the plates are what you are going to want to focus on. Their Mexi-Cali plates are delicious and the portions are quite nice--oh! and their ingredients are so fresh! A strong contender in the area for lunch--you won't be disappointed. There are MANY places to have tacos in the city, but this one provides something different to the Atlanta food scene.

Yelp
La Chiquiada is the coziest new restaurant in Decatur. I hope Chiquiada sticks around since the food tastes wonderful, the Mexican inspired aesthetic is awesome, and it's a great alternative to raging burrito. However, some of the negative reviews do, unfortunately, hold some truth. Here are my notes on how Chiquiada could go from 4 to 5 stars. #1: My server did her job fine, but her demeanor was so apathetic-- if not downright miserable-- that it detracted from my dining experience. This was in stark contrast to the owner, a wonderful woman who cared deeply about the business and her clientele. If I were her I'd take the lead of other successful Decatur firms and hire friendly Decatur High School or Agnes Scott students, not the first person who applies on "Indeed." #2: Portion sizes are too small for the price. I paid $18 for three super good tacos, but the homemade tortillas were so small I left still feeling hungry. Yes, I know small portions are the classic Mexican cuisine. It's also the classic way to run a business into the ground. Americans go to Mexican restaurants to eat large "Tex-Mex" portions-- always have, always will. 90% of patrons aren't cultured enough to appreciate "Real Mexican." If management isn't willing to budge on the small portion ideology, at least lower the price. #3: For God's sake, please add queso to your menu. Yes, I know that's not "real" Mexican, but see point #2-- nobody cares. If management can get those three things figured out, Chiquiada will be flying high in no time. I'll certainly be back in a couple months, looking forward to seeing how they've improved.

Yelp
My new favorite Mexican restaurant! This place is so inviting - the hostess, the waiters, bartenders, and just the entire staff! It's evident that everyone works as a team. As soon as you walk in, you can fell the warmth! Me and my friend were greeted with a warm welcome - it felt like home. We got a nice table on the patio! I ordered the chicken enchiladas with a mojito and my friend ordered the carnitas with a drink called a full bloom. Food AND drinks were on point! Initially I was nervous because I didn't want the ol' tex mex. style Mexican food. But this was far from it. Meaning, true authentic Mexican cuisine. Tortillas are hand pressed too! You can just taste the love in the food. I am familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine and this is the real deal. Also, parking is easy and convenient. If you are from Atlanta this is a huge win. They also validate parking. This place is a gem and I can't wait to return!

Heidi B.

Yelp
Service was excellent. The owner, Cat, was very friendly and helpful. Chai tea lattes and Mexican hot chocolate were delicious. Mexi-Cali southern tacos did not disappoint and the decor is very aesthetic. We will be back!

Alisa T.

Yelp
We sat outside for brunch. Lovely space, perfect size portions, fresh and fun menu, attentive staff.

Meagan M.

Yelp
Pros: friendly service, good vibes, excellent Paloma Cons: oh boy. The food didn't taste *bad,* it just didn't taste like anything. It was alarmingly bland. I think the corn tortillas were just too thick and ended up taking away any possibility of bold flavor. My husband got the carnitas quesadilla and chicken taquitos, and I got the street corn and chicken enchiladas. The corn wasn't bad--probably the most flavorful part of the evening (except the Paloma, which, again, was excellent). The other tree dishes were kind of ruined by the pancake-thick corn tortillas around them. On the plus side, I do think they're likely homemade. This place has a ton of potential if they would just season their food!

Darren H.

Yelp
Quite a "Mexi-Cali" feel in Decatur. The look and feel of this location is more like Inman Park and not so much as the other places in this area, not to say that this is a bad thing. Parking, gone are the days when there was an abundance of parking everywhere in Decatur, this restaurant shares space with the new apartment complex here. make sure you park here and save yourself a ticket. I'm a huge fan of street tacos & La Chiquiada does them right. You can never lose good care asada street tacos, paired with some rice and street corn. and let me tell you they make a strong drink. Wait staff is on point and won't leave you hanging with an empty glass. A good neighborhood-feel place that's a good stop after work or a weekend diner, this place is a winner.

Isabel L.

Yelp
I found their stand at the international festival today! I had a margarita! It was blended just right. Strong with a little bit of twang! Lol! To eat I ordered a mushroom taco topped with cilantro and onions. Who knew that would be so tasty! The girl running the stand was quick and courteous. The stand was pretty neat and well laid out. I'll definitely be going to find the restaurant next week!

Tanzene A.

Yelp
AMAZING! What a fun little hidden gem in downtown Decatur! It is tucked behind a residential complex. Super cute patio, delicious drinks, and delicious food! I had the fish taco and a rise of rise and beans! The taco was pricey for how small it was but otherwise the portions are decent sized! Loved it and can't wait to go back'

Daniela G.

Yelp
Food was really good! Head chef jugo did a great job on my quesadilla! My server Luke Novak was really good too. He brought me silverware when I asked . Love the Mexican coke, even though root beer is my favorite. The ambience is great, there is a fountain and many flowers.

Dylan N.

Yelp
Outstanding service, excellent food and mood. Server Luke Novak was very attentive and quick to help. Would come again!

Shelly S.

Yelp
This place is really REALLY good. Have had breakfast burritos a few times, took my older son there for lunch a few days ago- BEST chicken quesadilla ever. Love the beans too- tasty and super silky. GO!! It's also wallet friendly.

John D.

Yelp
Really disappointing first visit. We had such high hopes as we watched the progress of this new spot. Unfortunately, the food and experience did not match the admittedly nice aesthetic. First, the tacos and "quesadilla" were weirdly tiny. Yes, I know street tacos are typically smaller than a regular taco but these were MAYBE 3 inches in diameter. The size would not have been that big of a deal really if not for the well overpriced cost of $6 per street taco. Oh, and I used the term "quesadilla" due to the fact that these same weirdly small tortillas were simply stacked on top of each other to make the severely overpriced $8 "quesadilla". Secondly, the food just wasn't good. The chips were somewhat stale and kind of chewy, the salsa was basically just tomato sauce with maybe some tomato paste mixed in and above all the chicken was just a soggy mush. It was as though the chicken had been simmering in a crock pot for WAY too long. Overall, just a really disappointing experience where we left feeling like we had wasted our money over paying for sub par food.

Tim C.

Yelp
Overall, fast friendly service. Food was fresh, but really did leave more to be desired. A couple of suggestions: - carne asada needs more char or seasoning- it tastes bland-like boiled meat. Also salsa should come on the side with these orders or be on the table - quesadilla same thing- it is a home style quesadilla that is made with a smaller corn tortilla- needs more char and flavor- tastes very bland

I was frankly disappointed with my visit. I waited 30 minutes for this to go order of 'carne asada quesadilla.' Ended up being 2 tiny tortillas, for almost $10. They were also out of half their proteins, rice, and beans. Taste was 6/10. Tasted fresh. However, when your meal lasts 20 seconds, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Came in yesterday for breakfast. We got there around 9am and we were seated right away. It's a bit tucked away so don't miss it! It was a Saturday and there were a few people. They recently opened and I think they were still figuring out the service. It was a bit slow, but they were very nice. We started with coffees. I got a latte with oat milk. My fiancé got an americano - they didn't have regular drip coffee. For food, we got breakfast tacos - one potato, one carne asada. We also got a buttermilk biscuit and a cinnamon roll. It was all very tasty! The tacos were delicious. The biscuit was fluffy and buttery. The cinnamon roll was soft and sweet. Overall a good meal. Just some small things to work out. I'd love to return for dinner sometime as well.

Yelp
Cute, light-filled spot with a great menu and friendly service. Coffee was good and parking was easy. 3 stars means I'd only go back if recommended by someone else. 2 stars off because the food was a bit bland. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and something was missing. Char broiling or adding more seasoning would have been great. Pinto beans described as "creamy and garlicky" also fell short on flavor. Could be punched up a bit as well. They have a nice bar and outdoor space- I'd consider coming back for a drink.

Yelp
BEST Margarita I've ever had. Not joking. Food is great. Seriously, my new favorite place in the world. Great ambiance, nestled away just off the main road. Just wonderful.

Yelp
Did you ever put off doing something only to regret not doing it sooner? That's me right now. I've known of owner-operated La Chiquiada since it opened. It's been right down the street, since.... forever. I'll make this quick: Just blown away by the flank steak dish. The killer component, that just blows my mind, is the chimichurra that comes with the dish. O.M.G. be sure to ask for a double hit and inject that which you do not eat directly into your veins. It is stunningly delicious. The rice and beans that come with the dish, which at most places are throw away, are super flavorful. Yes. I said that. Flavorful beans while the rice is next level. Wonderful soft corn tortillas that are so good they must be homemade. Yes, the margs are great, too. Not to brag, but craft knows craft. This is craft. This is my new fav place in Decatur. Which has many wonderful places. Did you ever have a bunch of children and wish they were all like the best one?

Yelp
Service was slow and food wasn't good at all. Had the pinto beans with cornbread and chicken enchiladas. Laughable amount of chicken. Even the salsa was gross.

Yelp
Outside dining was fantastic. Keep an eye on the weather though as not all of the spots are covered.

Yelp
I went with my dad as I just moved into the area and I love Mexican so we decided to try this place. The space itself is nice, clean, and I enjoyed the decor. The staff was pleasant and courteous the entire time. Now the food.. neither of us were super pleased with our meals. My father got the enchiladas with rice and beans and I got the street tacos. Neither of us were a fan of the enchiladas due to the sauce, almost tasting like spaghetti sauce, and the chicken inside of the enchilada not having much flavor at all. The rice was well seasoned and the beans didn't taste like much of anything except just soft mush when I tried it. I got two of the Carne Asada tacos and they were decent. Normal street tacos, in my opinion. Maybe we got them on a bad day as my experience wasn't horrible, I don't plan on returning though when there are so many other places in the area and my experience here was subpar.

Yelp
Just heard about this restaurant and had to try it! We went for Saturday brunch. I had to order two things: the cinnamon roll which was delish and the toad in a hole- sourdough perfectly toasted with a sunny side egg topped with frisée, avocado and pepitas- delish as well! My husband, who is from Mexico had the chilaquiles, which he said, what's the best shit ever had in the states!! We ate on the porch, which overlooked a beautiful courtyard and fountain! The owner, Catherine came and spoke to us and was delightful! We will def be back!!

Yelp
Arrived at 10:15am for brunch because it was said to be open on Yelp. They do not open until 11. Wasted $6 on parking because we were unable to get the ticket validated at the restaurant. Call before you go.

Yelp
Love, love, love La Chiquiada! Truly one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The margaritas are incredible and the food is fresh and special. My favorites are the chile relleno for dinner, the carnitas tacos, the cheese quesadilla, and the toad in a hole "Cali style." Great guac and salsas too. I could eat here every day, and we often do. The owner is kind and attentive and the patio is a chill, peaceful place to sit and people watch. Service can be a little slow at busier times, which is okay because ... the margaritas.

Yelp
Great spot for a delicious lunch or for dinner at the bar. Never disappoints! And the space is beautiful inside.
