"La Concheria is located at Plaza Santo Tomás, once a winery in the center of Ensenada and dating back to 1911. The reclaimed and renovated district features warehouses now housing retail and restaurants, like this worthwhile spot. The restaurant is a slender space with brick flooring, teal walls, and a metal roof. In addition to a few tables there is a counter offering a handful of seats facing the bar and kitchen at the end.The menu is focused and offers items such as oysters, ceviche, and aguachile; as well as warming entrees like the fideo seco en salsa poblano. The baked pasta is prepared and served in a cast-iron skillet and is a delight, enriched with green chili-spiced cream, and topped with clams and mussels." - Michelin Inspector

The 22 Best Restaurants in Ensenada, Mexico | Eater San Diego

"As opposed to niche specialists, you’ll find an unusually wide variety of local clams, mussels, and oysters in this contemporary shellfish bar located near the jello shots end of the tourist zone. One of Ensenada’s elevated seafood eateries, La Concheria also features a short list of craft beers (and national beers), and young, acidic, mineral white wines and light rosés. Try the delightfully salty oysters, chocolate and Pismo clams, and Manila clams or mussels steamed in local wine and herbs. Round out your order with a cool, crisp ceviche dressed with Persian cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and purple onions." - Bill Esparza

Google
Amazing food, Michelin star did not disappoint and the food was to die for, the black codfish was like butter! Order it!! Pesto pasta was amazing and probably the best meal I’ve had here

Google
Shared ceviche de pescado and enjoyed a glass of white. Absolutely recommend, so fresh, such delicious flavors. All in a cute, quiet setting. Will definitely be back.

Google
Fenomenal place! Highly recommended if you want to try world class cuisine with local ingredients.

Google
Got the fish of the day on potatoes and the fish ceviche to share. The fish in both were incredible in terms of preparation - would definitely recommend and would come back :)

Google
Decent service. The food was really good and very fresh. They were also very accommodating letting us bring dessert from the ice cream place across from them. The oysters were very fresh and they had a variety of sauces to go with them. Both ceviches were good. Loved the Persian spin on the white fish and a classic take but with octopus, clams, and fish. Their spaghetti with abalone was great. Really simple pasta with butter but the abalone gives it that extra flavor that takes it from simply good to great.

Google
This is a super high quality and legitimate restaurant not too fancy on appearance because they care more about legitimate quality and customer care vs marketing (which is exactly what I look for). I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants a real deal ultra fresh and quality seafood experience. Their stuff does not come from mercado negro it comes from better than that. I had amazing abalone and local catch sea-bass-like dish. See photos for location because it’s not easy to locate (as most legit places usually are). My food and service was truly amazing.

Delicious seafood, cold dishes got served fast, but the hot dishes took awhile. Environment is great. Rustic feel, brick road and walls. The agua chile was delicious.

Google
Everything was perfect. The seafood is very fresh and flavorful, the service is good, and the ambiance is a perfect blend of casual and artsy.

Yelp
Excellent seafood with friendly servers and customers! My favorite is definitely the seared abalone. It is very tender and rich in flavor. The sauce on it really enhances the umami and texture of the dish. Everything is reasonably priced and clean here. I highly recommend this place for seafood lovers.

Yelp
Bland and below average food, the Oysters are about 1.25in (about 75% smaller than a normal Oyster) the rissotto was watered down rice and the Scallops where Chewy and the sauce to acidic

Yelp
This is a great little place! The ambiance is artsy, clean, and relaxing. We tried the yummy oysters, steamed mussels and octopus ceviche. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We visited specifically for their ceviche and seafood. We came off of a cruise ship , not the first time in Ensenada. Wanted to scout out some local off the beaten path restaurants. Didn't have a lot of time and came directly from the port to here by foot. Note that this place opens at 12pm. Ceviche was perfect, light and aromatic , chef let the sweetness of the seafood be the main flavor. We had yellowtail and octopus. Seafood pasta was also excellent. Ambiance is chic, like a winery. Chef is talented and young. This place is a hidden gem. Nearby ice cream and chocolate /coffee stores are also cute to visit. Areas visited by locals meeting up friends and colleagues for quiet and quaint lunch. Price is on the expensive side. It is not your street taco bar. Expect high quality drag seafood and service. Quantity is great though. It is worth it. This place is very under rated. A chef who knows how to handle fresh seafood without overpowering it with unnecessary seasoning, just the perfect amount to bring out the best in the main ingredient is something to treasure.

Yelp
Two words: fresh seafood. This was the last meal on our weekend trip to Ensenada and Valle, and I must say, what a memorable way to close things out! First off, one of my friends asked if the neighborhood was the "North Park" of Ensenada? Haha - the analogy fits because this is a hip looking area featuring a collection of businesses including a wine shop and gelato store nearby - within historical brick buildings. Delightful. Upon walking into La Concheria there are high ceilings with an industrial-chic look. Think unpainted wood everywhere. There's an open kitchen so the sights and smells of fresh seafood are abundant. The menu has variety yet it is focused and fits on one page. Started things off with a Victoria beer and things kept improving from there. Ordered the fish ceviche (pictured) which was fresh and an insane portion. The sweet potato provided a starchy base to contrast the fresh, acidic flavor from the fish and lime. Excellent. Throw some on top of a tostada and you are good to go. But we didn't come to a different country just to eat one dish, right? Next up - abalone pasta. Perfect al-dente texture and fresh abalone. Yum. Excited to return in the future to try out their other dishes!

Yelp
The best ceviche made with the catch of the day Sea Bass. Wow mouth watering freshness. So amazing! Customer service was excellent!

Yelp
Todo espectacular. El servicio increíble y la comida fenomenal. Sin duda volveremos pronto.

Yelp
Best food in Ensenada! You will not regret it. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend the ceviche mixto with the red onion sauce in lime ...delish!

Yelp
Small space, but wonderful food! Chef was very detailed and wait staff was attentive but not overbearing.

Yelp
A nice little spot in the main tourist area of Ensenada. They offer a variety of super fresh, local foods. My buddy stopped in for a quick beer and a few high protein snacks. We ordered abalone, yellowfin sashimi (just caught), and of course fresh oysters! The pricing is here is very affordable and the portions are bite sized. Would highly recommend checking this place out, and if you're still hungry, go grab some fish tacos at any of the shops nearby!

Yelp
One of the best ceviches hands down. I mean we are from SD and we know Baja very well and the ceviche is just so delicious highly recommended. We had two orders of pulpo tacos that were mind blowing! And to finished we have the Cioppino we always try this dish and hands down the best, perfectly cooked and the broth was amazing. Can't wait to go there again.

Yelp
This is one of my most favorite seafood spots in the world! My husband and I had a moment of panic when we walked up to the old location and it wasn't there! Luckily the friendly people in the shop next door gave us directions on how to find their new location which was a quick walk from the tourist street and so so worth it! The food is just as amazing as always and the new location is beautiful with lots of other little shops and a winery to check out. We ordered the ceviche because I can't go there and not get it! So delicious and super fresh! Clean restaurant, friendly staff, food is fantastic!

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing seafood. Chef Roberto was very hospitable. He took the time to talk to us at the end of our meal, and we talked about where he gets his seafood, his salt, his other ingredients, etc. We even spoke a few Japanese words like "hamachi" referring to the yellowtail crudo we were eating, and his staff/cocineros said "si, hamachi". Hospitable, kind people. Great seafood. And part of a gorgeous historic building where you can also get a coffee, fresh squeezed juice, mezcal, and more! Totally worth a visit.

Yelp
MOVED TO NEW LOCATION!!!! If your looking for oysters, abalone, steamed mussels or clams, this is the place. Roberto the owner and chef leveled up to a new location, much nicer than the old Place in Gringo Gulch. A cozy and intimate place for dinner or a casual place for lunch. It's nestled in the old Santos Tomas bottling building across the street from the ST Tasting room.

Yelp
We were here with a family of 12 for my birthday weekend. The ceviche was amazing paired with a great tasting michilada with Victoria beer. We also had the oysters and sushimi which was fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable and the restaurant small but cozy. It's in a great location that resembles the Art's District in Downtown, Los Angeles. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is truly a hidden gem. The places was immaculate and tried the steamed clams and fish ceviche. Words can't describe the flavor of the ceviche. I've travelled the world extensively and this by far was the best ceviche I've ever had. The ceviche sirs on the plate not a tostada. All fish. Cold bottles of beer was the perfect match. Visit this place. Its located on the side of the Santo Tomas Plaza.

Yelp
I was looking for fresh ceviche on my recent trip to Ensenada and La Concheria delivered above and beyond. Rosa, our server, helped us through the menu since our Spanish was not quite so great and we ended up ordering ceviche, abalone, seafood pasta (with clams, mussels and shrimp), yellowtail and rock fish. I am not exaggerating in saying that everything was delicious. I have not abalone in years and it did not disappoint, The cerviche was great and the pasta was loaded with garlic and pesto. Cocinero Roberto and La Concheria are not to be missed. Next time I am in Ensenada I will certainly be back.

Yelp
Fantastic! One of the best meals of my life. Freshest oysters, ceviche, abalone and delicious wine. Owner is proud and passionate about his seafood. Don't miss this place or you will die with regrets! Cheers.

Yelp
Great seafood, first time at this restaurant. Good service, clean restaurant and fresh seafood. Reasonable prices. At 7th and Miramar, few blocks from the tourist area. I would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We spontaneously stopped here for a glass of wine at the bar while we waited for the Alta Baja to open for drinks on the rooftop and we were very glad we did! We grabbed a bottle of wine next store (they only had glasses) and ordered ceviche and octopus taquitos - both amazing. We would have stayed for a longer meal but already committed to dinner plans. The Chef gave us some excellent traveling tips that really made our visit to Baja a very unique experience. Thanks Chef for all the great recommendations and hope to see you again soon! You will always have a friend in San Francisco :)

Yelp
This is the new location of La Concheria. Yelp has a duplicate listing for the old location, which is listed as closed. It's not closed! They just moved! The food is incredible. We feasted here on immaculately prepared clams, abalone, oysters, ceviche, and meats. All were top notch and the clams in particular were the best I've ever had. We ordered dish after dish and the bill came out to around $50USD per person. I came here with three friends, one of whom runs a restaurant in San Diego, and we all enjoyed our meal immensely. Very highly recommended.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner experience last night at Boules where myself & a friend learned about La Concheria from one of the servers who previously worked there and encouraged us to go for the seafood experience. We came for lunch with an appetite and left with our bellies full and well wishes towards the chef Roberto who kindly struck up a conversation with us about the food and our whereabouts, leading to some pleasant conversation about our food curiosities and where to get those thin, crispy tostadas La Concheria uses to accompany their ceviche & crudo dishes which I would highly recommend to order as an appetizer to share because there is more than plenty for two (the ceviche dish could easily serve 2-4 ppl if you plan on ordering other dishes). The flavors were as fresh as the new space they moved in to not more than 2 months ago! They are no longer by the marina, but nestled in the former area where wine production was prevalent as seen within the actual space itself where people can dine at the bar which we did (it's always fun to watch those who prepare your meal in action as well as strike up conversation) or take a seat at a table that seats 4. All in all, our experience was lovely not only because of the food itself but the people behind it. Thank you for feeding us and making us excited about food, La Concheria!

Yelp
Highly recommend this place! We travel down from San Diego as often as possible and every time we make it a point to eat here. The mixto ceviche is awesome and the clam chowder is fantastic. I have never been disappointed with anything, i highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, the Oysters spot on. The ceviche well paired with perfectly cooked sweet potatoe, great cocept. The Casuelitas w/ catch of the day, its the way to go. Infused aith Olive oil, all local sourced, incredible flavors on the fish.

Eva R.

Yelp
They moved they have a new address they are located in the santo Thomas bodega Calle Miramar 637 Food is exceptional we hunted them down so glad we found them again.

Yelp
My favorite spot for ceviche. Their new location is amazing. Highly recommended. Top on my list every time I'm in Ensenada.

Mo J.

Yelp
This place is special in every way. Roberto is an absolute master. Every dish is literally PERFECT. All the fish comes in fresh daily. Best ceviche I have had in my life. Bluefin tuna ceviche melts in your mouth. Clam chowder so perfectly crafted. Not too heavy with cream, made with real homemade fish stock. You can tell. Oysters incredibly fresh and just melt away in your mouth with creamy goodness (all amazing sauces too come with it). The seafood pasta dish is done perfectly. Light an You need to go here, it's well worth getting out of the tourist areas for it. The quality of seafood stands by itself and is reason to RUN to this place. The prices just makes it absolutely ridiculous.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this restaurant and it looked good so we gave it a shot. The menu has a wide variety of seafood options including ceviche, raw oysters, and octopus. The waitstaff was very friendly and answered our various questions about the menu items. We ordered the pesca del dia- the fish of the day. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old brick building with vaulted ceilings. It has a cozy and classy vibe with an open kitchen. As we waited, we watched the cooks skillfully navigate the kitchen and we took in the pleasant atmosphere. After a short wait, the yellowtail arrived. It came seared on the outside but cooked all the way through. The fish was light and flaky and full of flavor. It was a generous size and came cooked to perfection. A green salad tossed in a delicious, tangy vinaigrette accompanied the yellowtail. My girlfriend and I agreed it was one of the best pieces of fish either of us have had in recent memory. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the mood for some seafood in Ensenada.

Yelp
It's a breath of fresh air finding a restaurant that doesnt cater the hordes of tourists that come daily to Ensenada. The food has a very unique, authentic flavor endemic to the cook, that I haven't tasted anywhere else in Ensenada. So yes, the food is delicious. I personally recommend the octopus tacos, which are the best I have tasted anywhere in Mexico. Though they still need improvements on their alcoholic drinks menu, the food really does a great job compensating that flaw. A real underrated spot which deserves much more credit than it receives.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Must visit!!! Absolutely amazing food! Fish ceviche was delicious! Service was outstanding. The visit was very pleasant!

Yelp
Wow. New location is awesome. Inside of an old winery. Food is delicious as usual and always such a great seafood culinary experience.

Yelp
Great food! Super friendly people. Upscale ambiance. We ordered almost everything on the menu and loved every dish. Definitely a gem in Ensenada. A must!
