Yelp
Taco the Town
Located along the historic Camino Real (King's Highway), this venerable family-owned restaurant has been serving up housemade Mexican eats in this location for nearly seventy (1957) years!
The Good:
*The building and area they're located in just oozes old historic charm.
*Service met my Four F Challenge: fantastic, friendly, fast, and fun. Also, you can tell most of the staff are all family.
*Large dirt parking lot, as well as street parking available
*My Chimichanga was fantastic; fried-up perfectly so it's not greasy; filled with tons of delicious shredded beef and green chiles; and topped with their delicious guac, sour cream and salsa.
*Tacos Estrellas lived up to the hype, which is rare these days. Carissa couldn't get enough of them.
*We tried just about every side dish they had, and there wasn't a bad dish in the house. The Borracho Beans, in particular, were fantastic, as they were creamy and filled with flavor thanks to the chorizo.
*Housemade Horchata was delicious, as it wasn't too sweet and had great cinnamon flavor.
*By CA standards, the prices here are fantastic.
The Meh:
*No outdoor dining
*Popular spot as they fill up fast for lunch, so get here early.
The Ugly:
*No cervezas or alcohol of any kind. This seems to be fairly typical in NM, but I'm not really sure why. =/
TLDR: Fantastic Mexican eats, low prices, and great service equals a winner all-around.
