Offering French comfort food, a wine list, and cocktails, this casual restaurant has live music.
"La Société is the new restaurant and bar from the folks at TableOne Hospitality, the spinoff restaurant group from Mina Group, and it’s diving deep into French food with chef Alexandre Viriot at the helm. Nestled inside the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown Soma, the bar allows you to snack on smoked salmon rillettes or steak tartare at the bar and lounge, while sipping on the bar’s take on cocktail classics, such as the French Quarter, made with Calvados, rye, cardamom lavender, and absinthe. If cordials are your thing, the bar also has a generous list of offerings." - Dianne de Guzman
"Open since August 2022, La Societe brings California-ized French classics to the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SOMA. Chef Alexandre Viriot offers familiar dishes such as escargot, duck liver mousse, and steak tartare, but usually with some sort of modern or locally influenced update — think smoked salmon rillettes with everything bagel spice and roasted duck with pomegranate aigre doux." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff
"This French brasserie inside the Hyatt in SoMa is hosting a four-course menu ($120) from 4-9:30pm on New Year’s Eve. Look forward to eating beignets with caviar, risotto, prime beef filet, and dark chocolate tarts in a space that looks designed by someone who cares deeply about modern art. " - julia chen 1
"Those familiar with the popular, line-inducing steak meal at Paris's Le Relais de l'Entrecôte may want to take note of a similar concept that French restaurant La Societe is launching in San Francisco. On Friday, June 28, chef Michael Rosenthal will serve a $49 prix fixe meal featuring salad, steak au poivre made with Niman Ranch top sirloin, plus an endless stream of duck fat french fries. If you can't make it to Paris, head to downtown San Francisco instead." - Dianne de Guzman
"Hotel restaurants have a bad rap for being underwhelming and overpriced, with menus catering to a broad audience. But La Société, a French bistro inside the Hyatt in SoMa, bucks tradition. Almost. The menu is brasserie classics combined with Californian twists, like puffy dutch crunch gougères and nicely charred scallops with locally sourced corn. But for $45, an over-peppery hanger steak frites needs to deliver but falls short—the portion could barely feed a child. This place is lively and looks designed by someone who cares deeply about modern art. But anyone with a zip code that begins with “9” won’t find the food groundbreaking enough to justify a walk through the hotel lobby. If you do wind up here, you won’t be mad. There are far worse hotel restaurant offenders. " - Lani Conway
