"Named after Mexico City’s massive seafood market, La Viga is a Redwood City favorite for oceanic fare with a Latin twist. Wedged between an industrial area and downtown, the basic but cheerful dining room draws a casual lunchtime crowd here for heaping tacos—soft white corn tortillas stuffed with fried snapper fillet, cabbage and chipotle crema; or crisp prawns with tomatillo-garlic sauce and pico de gallo. At the dinner hour, residents stream in for the famed tallarines con mariscos, a sizable mound of al dente fideos studded with pristine seafood cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. With such fresh ingredients and bold flavors, the low prices and generous portions are particularly pleasing. Don't forget to leave room for a delicate flan to finish." - Michelin Inspector

Was in town for work and met up with some friends. No of us had ever been here before - it was such a great place for us to catch up. The food is great and very affordable! Portion size was still big for tapas. Would definitely come back every time I am in town. The drinks were delicious too but forgot to take photos - the Horchata was great and not too sweet.

Very tasty & tender calamari to start and delicious churro to finish. But the true gem was the seafood pasta with a spicy cream sauce! Salmon & Red Snapper tacos were also quite memorable as well. Highly recommend this place!

We ate at La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana. It was nice. I thought it would be a bit fancier because I saw it recommended somewhere. The seafood dish with different kinds was really good, especially the shrimp. The tacos cost $6 each, which seemed a lot, but they tasted great. The chips were the best part—they were not greasy and very crunchy. They gave us two kinds of sauce; the green one was the best. The cold beer was also really good with the food. Even though I expected something a bit different, we liked it a lot and want to go back to try more dishes.

Service team was friendly and bar is great. Food is good 4*, empanadas were really good, bread pudding is amazing. Cocktails were really good. Spent about $60 per person, which seems pricey.

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant - it’s not the type of Mexican food that is too oily or creamy for us. Instead, this is more like a tapas place with quite some Spanish dishes. Drinks are cool as well. The location is on the edge of sketchy area; we kinda afraid someone might smash our car window… We keep coming back here for the great drink, good food and cool vibes. Highly recommended

Boys wanted some Mexican food and I saw good reviews for this restaurant, so decided to try it. After 30 minutes waiting, finally we got our food, appearance is lot better than the taste. The Ceviche trio is too spicy and sour, the tortilla chips is so disappointed…overrated restaurant!

Yummy dishes but not so much on service. We came here for dinner. It has been a while since our last visit. It was not that crowded when we arrived. They also have outdoor seating. We were seated right away. For drink, we ordered sangria and Tin tan. I like tin tan but not that much on sangria. For starter, we ordered coconut shrimp and chaviche trio. Both are yummy. For the main we ordered Pulpos Salteado, Bistec con Papas and Caldo de Mariscos. They are yummy. I like the medium bistec as it is tender and the potato is yummy, but it only comes with 3 slices of steak. I expect more for $30 dish. For dessert, we got churros, and it was good. It was nice dinner with a friend, but service can be better. The server forgot one of our orders even though he clearly asked us if we wanted 3 or 2, and we said 2 is enough. The main course price is considered high, and we expect better service when you expect customers to tip 18% or higher.

Delicious Mexican Seafood dishes but a little high end for pricing. Quick friendly service, not too crowded but reservations are preferred.
