"This plush and elegant place in the heart of Pont-de-Vaux can be relied upon for excellent traditional cuisine. Scallops with cauliflower; frogs' legs with parsley; Bresse chicken cooked two ways… The classics are subtly reworked by this seasoned chef, who cultivates finesse as much as originality; he revises his menu every month to reflect his current inspirations and the fresh produce on the market stalls. The wine list is also worth perusing, with a good choice of Burgundy labels. Attentive and smiling service." - Michelin Inspector

"This restaurant is located in the village of Pont-de-Vaux, in the heart of the natural region of Bresse. In the continuation of a successful career, chef Frédéric Michel has taken over Le Raisin from his parents-in-law. His 'Menu de Saison', served from Tuesday to Saturday evening at the tempting price of €41 for three courses, gives you a taste of the best local produce prepared with his very own touch of originality." - MICHELIN Guide

I had a great experience at Le Raisin. I ordered a Menu Plaisir with Foie Gras de Canard to the Filet de Canette, which were exquisite. The service was impeccable, and staff helped us with the wine and cheese selections. The Chariot de Fromage and dessert de la maison were amazing. We spent around 100 euros per person, and the menu was worth every euro. I highly recommend this place for an extraordinary dining experience.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was an absolute pleasure. The staff were friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the food and wine they were serving. The food was amazing and my colleague said it was the best meal he had ever had. The cheese trolley was great I could not recommend this highly enough. The cost was very reasonable and I do not think you will get a better meal than this anywhere in the world and certainly not at the prices charged. If you are in the area it is a must to dine here.||Outstanding food and service.

We stayed here as a family returning from skiing, and have also stayed here in three or four previous years over 30 years. The rooms are fairly simple but spacious and spotless with ample hot water; they really are extraordinarily good value for money. Breakfast is very self service, but good with plenty of choice. Dinner is the star of the show. Absolutely excellent and fully worthy of its Michelin star, and good value considering the quality and service. Perhaps the most unusual feature is that deposits are not required when booking, a rarity these days and most refreshing. I would guess all turn up to enjoy the wonderful dinner!

A good one star restaurant. Very tasty, big portions, great frog legs and wine selection. Had very good time there. Personnel was very polite. Lowlights: personnel was a bit under-dressed, wine pooring technique was not the top. The restaurant is nice and modern, but the hotel is very old-fashioned. Big contrast. Overall, pleasant experience.

We stayed here for one night, and ate the excellent Menu Plaisir at 54 euros (66 euros for 4 courses). It was, as ever, excellent. Celine Michel always gives us a warm welcome, and Frederic produces his admirable food in the streamlined modern kitchen. Prepare for a long and enjoyable evening as you entertain your palate with the delicate amuses gueles or gourmandises which Frederic serves between between each delicious course. This is |fine dining as theatre, and everything is presented with an admirable panache, flair and attention to detail. The garnishes include fresh flowers, foams and jellies. However, I had not met before the garnish of small green fronds (samphire perhaps, or fried parsley?) in which a crisp green Kromeski, served as a tiny appetiser, nestled in a bowl. I chewed my way, without pleasure, through two or three of the green tufts and then gave up. When I asked the waiter what they were, he replied with amusement 'mousse'! 'Moss' is not on my list of edible delights, and will never be rolled round and round my mouth again! Otherwise, full marks to the Michels for a truly exciting dining experience.|This is really a restaurant with rooms, and the bedrooms are comfortable without being in any way luxurious. But the food is the thing to go for here, but just inspect the garnishes with care!|

We came across the restaurant hotel 'le Raison' quite by chance and it was quite a nice surprise. We had come to Chardonnay, Burgundy region of France to taste and buy wines. And when there is wine there is food. So we took the opportunity to dine in several restaurants in the region. Le Raisin was one of 3 Michelin visited and it was the best. The food was very good, served with very good wine. And you could taste the wine before accepting the glass. Excellent communication between the sommelier and client. First class. Highly recommended restaurant .Bravo...

We stayed here in October and November this year and each time asked for rooms overlooking the car park at the rear of the hotel. They were comfortable and quiet; plain in style and with lots of room. The restaurant is very special indeed. The food is classy and very cheffy - with lots of humour thrown in with the impeccable presentation and service.||Some may find this daunting - but it really is an adventure in food and you may be confident that what you choose will be well executed and memorable. One of the dining room staff is married to the chef, so was well pleased to carry our compliments back to him.||I think that the prices are creeping up slowly - but it really is a gastronomic treat to eat here and well worth a stop over. Watch out for days when the restaurant is not open - like a Sunday night and Monday night. Check before you book!

Some redecoration done since my last visit a few years ago. The rooms remain with the same simple décor and are still good value. Very clean. ||I find the cuisine over elaborate, not achieving the desired results. But I enjoyed my dinner, which I would rate 4/5. Excellent Pigeon jus d´Oignons corsés. ||Warm welcome.

Yelp
We went to Le Raisin for the third time in two years returning from the Midi. It was even more excellent than least year. It seems, the chef is very eager to improve even more. I see this with a laughing and a sad eye because should it happen that he is going to get more Michelin stars than one, this wonderful hideaway will very soon be overcrowded by arrogant gourmet- temple worshippers and become unaffordable. We chose Menu du Terroir and Menu Gourmand with dessert and cheese at 49€ and 66€. As a starter I had fraicheur du tourteau ( crab) with artichoke, fennel and yuzu ( a type of lemony tangerine) and my husband had European lobster poached in lobster butter with minestrone revisitée. Both excellent, nothing to wish for. As a main course I had Bresse chicken with sweetcorn, squid and lobster bisque, my husband opted for a hay smoked beef tenderloin with porcini mushrooms, parsley and pommes soufflés in a hay- infused jus de boeuf. Especially the beef was absolutely spectacular, it was the best course I´ve ever tasted in my life. The chicken also was an intelligent and mouthwatering surf ´n turf variety, the squid supported very well the texture and taste of the white meat. The choice of cheese from the trolley was excellent, accompanied by dried figs and salted butter. For dessert we chose a variety around raspberries which came with a spoonful of home made verbena icecream- the ultimate treat! Additionally there were appetizers and three delicious amuse bouches in between not to forget the crisp and crunchy home made bread with salted butter from local producers. A word about the service team- it is absolutely lovely, friendly but not too friendly, observant but not obtrusive, thus creating a relaxed country house atmosphere where everyone feels really at home. No snooty waiters lifting stainless steel cloches but amiable french girls explaining the courses and a very skilled young sommelier.- We loved it and will return.
