25 Iconic Dishes That Define Rome - Rome - The Infatuation

"La Tavernaccia Da Bruno in Trastevere serves comfort food so good, you simply won’t want to leave. Their trippa, most days, is slow-braised in sweet tomatoes, dashed with mint, and blanketed in pecorino, but in the fall it’s served with a silky mashed squash puree seasoned with garlic, herbs, and olive oil. We love Tavernaccia’s preparation because it’s perfectly cooked (yes, even tripe deserves to be al dente), and always coated in a lip-smacking sauce." - annie replogle

L’Osteria della Trippa - Atlas Obscura

"Come to this cozy spot deep in Trastevere for the offal-intensive menu by the feisty chef Alessandra Ruggeri. She will serve you exemplary trippa (aka tripe), whether crisp-fried or stewed alla romana, as well as lesser-known dishes from Lazio’s Viterbo region, like a menestra of curly chicory cooked until tender with bread and potatoes." - Atlas Obscura

L'Osteria della Trippa

"One of the best places in Rome in which to sample the cuisine of Lazio, this restaurant is renowned across the globe for its generous portions of carefully prepared, regional specialities. In addition to the tripe referenced in the restaurant’s name, you’ll also find dishes such as artichokes alla giudia, coratella (lamb offal) and pastas served with the most famous local sauces (amatriciana, carbonara and cacio e pepe) on the menu. Truly delicious!" - Michelin Inspector

Charming osteria with great food and ambiance! The chef / owner truly captures the atmosphere of an authentic osteria. Della Trippa is an osteria it’s not a ristorante or trattoria! I ordered the vegetarian chicory soup with bread and egg. The egg is shaved over the top of the soup. The broth is delicate and savory balanced with the heartiness of the bread and potato in the soup. Definitely a peasant dish but executed with a chef’s creativity. For pasta the cacio e pepe was perfect. Creamy sauce without heavy cream it coated the pasta with the right amount of pecorino and black pepper. The owner is friendly and warm and the staff is attentive! I highly recommend this place!

The appetizers felt a bit inconsistent. The gazpacho had a really beautiful plating, but sadly were just not for me, while the other felt very barebones. The ravioli and meatballs on the other hand was amazing, as was the tiramisu. Sadly there were just to many inconsistencies to give it a 5/5.

Fantastic dinner, with the owner welcoming us and a friendly staff! We went for one of the specials of the day, some tasty snails in tomato sauce, followed by an impeccable cacio e pepe & carbonara! Great cocktails too, and the place is tucked away at the border of Trastevere, highly recommend!

Authentic Roman dishes. A selection of natural and organic wines. Carbonara with artichokes was excellent. As the name implies, this is a location for lovers of tripe. Many creative dishes prepared with offal. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back. Very enjoyable.

Score 3,5 The outdoor area and seating were really nice. We showed up a bit early, so there were no issues with our reservation. That said, we mainly came for the food, and honestly, it was just… okay. Pretty average overall, and when a place has a BIB Gourmand recommendation, you kind of expect something a bit more special. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything memorable about the meals, and the price didn’t really match the quality. I’ve usually had good experiences with BIB picks, but this one didn’t live up to the hype. Maybe give it a try and see for yourself, but personally, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Roman tripe was good but nothing special. We ordered 2 special of the day (bruschetta with artichokes and mint; and « delicious » fried chicken with pepper sauce. Both were disaster unfortunately. It was one bruschetta for €14 and 5 pieces of chicken breast with breadcrumbs for €18. Fried mozzarella sandwich from the starter was also not good. Just fried sandwich with mozzarella inside - American chain Bennigan’s used to have something similar and theirs was better and cheaper. Carbonara was also nothing special but just an average. All in all I don’t think it is worth of Michelin bib groumand and will never go back. By the way, when it comes to Roman Tripe dish, I strongly recommend you visiting here: Osteria Garbaldi!! (https://maps.app.goo.gl/xRNLumVFzyAuS1WV9). With 1 pasta, Roman tripe, 2 simple kids pasta and 1/4 wine, we paid €40. Compare to « L'Osteria della Trippa » which charged us over €100, Garbaldi definitely should get BIB.

Came in highly recommend and didn't disappoint. We where a party of 3 and grabbed the last non-resereved table for the evening so I would recommend booking in advance. Amazing local Roman food with the speciality being the trippa.

Interesting restaurant where you can eat unique italian dishes. Excellent wine selection. The "sweet-bread" as a starter was amazing. However we didn’t really enjoy our pasta dishes. (particularly cacio e pepe) Next time we will try something different. Service was… let’s say unique.
