"A reggae and rum bar that closed on New Year’s Eve with plans to move to a new location." - Nadia Chaudhury

"You should always be in the mood to drink a rum punch and listen to reggae. If you feel like you aren’t, go drink a rum punch and listen to reggae. That’ll put you in the mood. You can do this at Lover's Rock, a cocktail bar on Tompkins Ave where they make some good drinks and keep the lights dim. Reggae isn’t the only music they play, but don’t expect your standard Top 40. For a fun night out that isn’t too wild or high-maintenance, we highly recommend this place. When it’s warm, head to the backyard." - Bryan Kim, Willa Moore, Nikko Duren

"This Bed-Stuy bar wasn’t around in the ’90s, but you wouldn’t know it from the exposed red light bulbs, palm tree iconography, and thumping Caribbeats." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff

This is a little gem in Bed-Stuy. I love that it has outdoor space where smoking is allowed. The vibe is real irie and attracts a diverse crowd. Every one around us seemed to be having a good time, whether it was outside enjoying conversation or inside dancing to the great mix of Caribbean and African music. On the weekends there’s a cover after 10pm. It’s a tight space and gets super crowded inside…but no one seemed to mind. I’ve been there 3 times.

Had a great 90’s party vibe but couldn’t get a drink if God helped me himself. There were four people behind the bar and only two people actually making drinks while the other two just stood there on their phones the whole night. There was no type of organization to order a drink with 50 people standing around the bar. Some were ordering while others were dancing, couldn’t get to the bartender at all.

Nice small place with a backyard. Where u can you sit and chat without hearing the music loud? You can also smoke indoors, and outdoor music is a vibe it gets hot in there when it's crowded. $10 dollars to enter drinks is good. i didn't see any food. it's more like a drink spot, but overall, it recommended .

Google
Lovers Rock on a Friday night is awesome. Definitely advise all to get there early to avoid the lines. But once inside, the chill vibes, friendly people and great drink prices make this a great spot to party the night away in true Caribbean fashion. The mixed crowd and bonus backyard area make it a hit.

Went for my birthday afterparty and to say I had a blast is an understatement. It was hands down my best Jamaican experience in the US yet. Can't wait to go back!

I was assaulted by two black men tonight at this location. I was there with fam and friends. I was dancing with my man, enjoying the vibes when a random man hit me with his phone from quite a distance away. I didn’t understand how his hand managed to reach out so far as to “accidentally” hit me. When I said something he started to get aggressive and loud. His friend then came to my man and started shouting at him, and it created a big scene, where the man who approached my man, spat in my face. His friend who initially hit me with his phone, then attacked me. There was words exchanged and police called. I did not feel protected or safe. It is not safe here. The men are dangerous and security did nothing but try to make everyone leave and try to wipe their hands clean of the situation. Not safe here

Google
This is a great place to vibe ,but the female bartender is extremely rude for no reason ,I'm a bartender ,I ask my patrons to have a little patience, so I display the same don't want to make a big deal about it, but her attitude needs to change

Jessica Ramos

Google
I literally love @loversrocknyc but I have never patronized on a Wednesday tho and after tonight, I probably will never patronize on any day ever again. I have a heavy social media presence and I have supported and promoted this place to everyone and everyone because it has always been good vibes and energy but I don’t know why this one bartender tonight looked miserable from the moment I stepped into the place. It took forever to get a drink from her & she looked like she hated every moment of serving me . Nonetheless I understand sometimes people have bad days so I still blessed her with a very generous tip to hopefully boost her mood but to no avail because it was definitely the opposite. She looked bothered by her coworkers by the patrons, etc.. when they called last call for the bar I waited to be served for a few mins , and as I was asking the bartender for one drink, she proceeded to tell him he could not serve me anything that needed ice or a mixer so while he was making the drink, she made him pour it out. Never have I ever experienced something like this. Truly disheartening. I believe she said her name was Kane. This turned me off so bad and I will make sure to let everyone and anyone I know that if you want to feel welcomed and good customer service clear if she is serving! I will post a photo of her

Yelp
This was a quaint Caribbean spot in Brooklyn. I did really enjoy how fresh there a Jamaican beef patties were, but I would say that they were a lot of items that they were out of and the wine selection was not great. It does get a little packed once the Caribbean DJ starts, but other than that, it's a very low-key vibe.

Sa'Rah H.

Yelp
Lovers Rock was real chill on the night of my visit. My friend and I went hoping to get in some dancing but the mood was super relaxed so we sat at the bar and had 2 painkillers. The drinks were strong and tasty. Really good! We ended up just chatting and watching basketball on the TV at the bar next to us. It was cool- I'd probably go another time to get a better read on the DJ.

Jia R.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Rum cocktails were made well. Very fun space if you love rocker culture

Dollie P.

Yelp
I love this place! This is a great hole in the wall to converse or just enjoy ambience. Small but just enough room to get down to great djs! The drinks are amazing & service immacable!

Tanya R.

Yelp
It's been yearrrs since I've been to Lovers Rock and when I went this past Wednesday night for drinks with my homegirl, I had a beautiful experience. The bartender was friendly and readily accepted requests for drinks that he hadn't heard of. There was a young woman DJ-ing and she was great! She was spinning so many hits from the 99s and the 2000s that I sent my Shazam into overdrive. My friend and I arrived just before 10PM and secured the last two bar seats. About an hour later, Lovers Rock which is a rather "cozy" place was flooded with patrons dancing and singing along to every song. I did plenty of singing and shoulder shimmy too. Excellent vibes the entire time. I need to get to Lovers Rock more often.

Akeema R.

Yelp
My first time brought here was for some continued hanging for the best date I've ever been on. Since then I came here quite a bit and the vibes never disappoints. I've never been for happy hour or tried the beef patties. I'm usually here after 9pm for the cold strong drinks and music that makes me want to dance until my feet hurts. You get searched at the door. It's a pretty small place on a residential block. As soon as you walk through the door, the bar is located to your left. You can walk straight through and out the back into their outdoor seating. If you're lucky to find some space. The bathroom is to the right. It was clean when I utilized it. The place can be pretty hot once packed. They do have quite a few a/c blaring to combat the heat. If your lucky to snag a corner under one it's pure bliss. The bartender are overall very sweet. I have encountered one or two rude ones. But nothing to prevent me from coming back. I haven't been since before the pandemic and I'm hoping they've kept their local feel about them.

Notoya S.

Yelp
As a yardie, Lovers Rock gets a pass on being a "Rum Bar"; Yes, they serve rum and all kinds of liquor. You will not be short on that. The vibes are chill, cool and low-key. You will have a good time. The DJ was knowledgeable enough on playing Caribbean tunes for the crowd(My observation is mostly American with a dash of Caribbean people ). What is different about this rum bar versus a traditional Caribbean rum bar was there was no smoking inside the venue. A plus for many who don't want to be exposed to the fumes or don't like their clothes smelling like the smoke.

Curvesha B.

Yelp
If i can give them a zero i would. Went to this bar after work for a quick drink . .smh worst place to stop at ..the want to be April Jones bartender was not only rude but seemed as if she don't care to be there . So when i finally was able to order my drinks ( bc the bartender was hiding in the corner ) i realized the margarita tasted completely like sour mix. After i paid and spoke to the bartender about the margarita not only was she disrespectful but she was not trying to speak to me. I wish i had never went to place and i will advise no one to ever go there. It's dead, no vibes and no customers which i now know why !

Crystal T.

Yelp
Service wasn't terrible, Aesthetically pleasing, good security but ummm DRINKS NEED HELP...for a reggae spot I definitely wasn't impressed with the cocktails ...they looked nice though. They don't have any top shelf rums so that was disappointing. Staff seem nice so maybe I'll give them another chance one day just have to pregame first.

Ginette P.

Yelp
Been here a few times & for the most part it's pretty decent. Drinks the last time was beer Red stripe not bad , Heineken decent as well usually tend to stick to beer just seems easier. Decent music playing , good vibe not a bad place to hang for a few drinks.

Casandra R.

Yelp
Music was way too loud could not even hold a decent conversation. Ended up leaving within half an hour with an unfinished drink. Disappointed

June P.

Yelp
I went on a Sunday night and it was dead! I only wanted to try it since the reviews were pretty good. The bartender was new and she was sweet but the drinks she made weren't great especially for the price.

Kisha V.

Yelp
Was bar hopping with my friends. Drinks where delicious. Service was great. Love the atmosphere inside it was a vibe

Joannie B.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday, and the vibe is pretty good. The drinks are really good, but I wished a rum punch was actually a rum punch, if you know what I mean. The passion fruit rum punch is really good, as is the soursop margarita. They also have "empanadas," which is really a beef pattie- just call it what it is, please. The drinks are strong but not get you tipsy strong, which is good. I would definitely come back because I've been meaning to come check them out. And the dj is good playing all the old school hits.

B J.

Yelp
Weakest drinks ever had (for $15) - avoid the unfriendly young woman bartender with glasses - she can't even make a basic vodka soda correctly. Music and vibe were good. Be prepared to pay an entry fee.

Tiffany O.

Yelp
Lovers rock is like that scene in love jones when nia and Lawrence are dancing in that Jamaican bar with the red light.... Literally that's what it is on a good night. Dress light cuz it small and HOTTTTT. Drinks are relatively priced. I honestly prefer winters at this location

Jesica L.

Yelp
Issa vibe! Lovers Rock is a chill and inviting bar that always has me coming back. The decor is warm and sultry. On a Friday night, you can find the DJ spinning calm Reggae tunes and people chatting it up under the dim lighting. There is also a dance floor and backyard section. They offer a wide variety of drinks. My go to drink is the Rum Punch. This is good spot for grabbing a drink, and relaxing to music. I recommend giving this place a try.

Cathy K.

Yelp
The city's back!!!! Been here few times before COVID and most recently just last week. Get the Painkiller and rum punch. Expect a small wait starting 9pm on weekends, longer if you come after 10. The highlight of our night was watching the rather dapper bouncer maintain crowd control among a long line of eager patrons. Fun place to bring friends, nice outdoor covered patio with a handful of picnic tables. Small indoor dance floor space, good music. More of a soca feter, and this place tends to play more dancehall but it's all good. Vibes are de best, this is a neighborhood institution.

Yelp
We were having a large dinner party in Lover Rock's part of town. Getting there early is usually not my thing, so it opens up a world of possibilities--including getting a drink. We had passed Lover's Rock on our way to the party. Lover's Rock is a great little Tiki bar. We visited all the unique shops along Tompkins since we didn't visit our friends in this part of Brooklyn often before heading in for a cocktail. Their drinks menu is unique with many rum variations and classics on the menu. The bartender was amazing, he made a slight mistake on my drink and he quickly recalled the slight change I had when picking them up(swapped tequila for rum in the pina colada variation). The tequilada was amazing with the agave twist and match against the coconut base of the drink. Once the place opens the back patio, it will be packed with lots of neighborhood friends and the parties seem to be all the rage at Lover's Rock with different themes.

Diamond F.

Yelp
The vibes in this bar is perfect! I love the music because it's mellow at time but hype too. The drinks are VERY strong and I only needed 3 drinks to feel the right vibe. The bartenders were more friendly than I thought also.

Allie F.

Yelp
Good vibes and drink selection, but bartender is slower than flipping molasses. I would come back if it were a slower night... it's Monday and there are a total of 18 people here, but 30 minutes for a drink. I guess they're all made with love though

Chengetayi T.

Yelp
This bar is located in the heart of Brooklyn. Its a very very chilled bar. When I tell you that the crowd is extremely diverse, that would be an understatement. From the most conscious rasta to the hippyest hippy in Brooklyn. I can safely say that this place caters to everyone who loves the genre The music is excellent! Its non stop reggae from the time you walk in to the time you leave. Its a great combination of dancehall, reggae, soca. I think the DJ comes in at about 10 pm and that's when the party starts. What i like about this bar is that you can dance. Its not your typical bar, you have space to dance because they don't have a lot of furniture in the bar.If you do want a table, make sure you get there super early This is not a place you come when you are starving because their food selection is extremely limited. They have patties and plantain chips which isn't enough to fill anyone. Their happy hour is decent and makes it worthwhile. I will say this, their drinks are very good and the bartenders are heavy handed. I've never had a weak drink at Lover's Rock. The bar also has a decent outside seating area which is quite nice in the summer. The only thing about this place, there is no service. If you decide to sit outside, you have to come inside to get your drinks and then take them outside. Lovers Rock is a vibe and I enjoy coming here especially in the summer!

Sasha G.

Yelp
The bartenders here have stepped their game up. I've visited since my last review and was pleasantly surprised... it didn't take 35 minutes to get a drink. Wonderful!

Xenia M.

Yelp
Lovers Rock is a hip little bar nestled in the heart of Bed stuy! I was surprised to see that it was packed on a Wednesday evening! They have a nice little backyard area with picnic tables if you want to eat and talk with friends. However, they close the yard at 11:00 PM. The DJ played a great variety of tunes on his record machine! Haven't seen one of the bad boys in ages. This is a great spot if you wanna dance to some reggae, salsa, etc! The drinks are also very tasty!

Kris P.

Yelp
Dance baebe dance!!! Duttty whine duttty whine!! Stopped in one night for a drink and good jams and oh boy did I get that! Bartenders were super friendly and had STRONG Pours!!! There is an entire dance space area towards the back that ppl filter over to and get their lives!! The energy in here was real, the other patrons in here were cool as hell, says a lot about a place with the kind of folks that fill it as well! Definitely good vibes, drinks and prices here!! Check it out if you're debating it!!

Victor G.

Yelp
Vibes on 1000. Classic reggae vibes all night paired with drink that are on theme with a soursap margarita and other amazing mixtures. Great for a night cap of a pregame or just to chill and enjoy the ambiance!

Petrina R.

Yelp
Lovers Rock really surprised me. I must say the ambiance is really nice and calm. The lighting is very low and they light a great deal of candles to make the environment warm, romantic and even more friendly. The DJ wasn't that great, but I was told it's usually much better on Saturdays. The backyard was closed due to the weather, but some guest were still going in the back to smoke. The backyard area is beautiful and I wish I was a guest in the summer time to have had the chance to take advantage of it. The regulars walk in and don't even need to look at the menu or the bartender. She knew exactly what they wanted. I must say the drinks are AWESOME. Two rum punches later and I was singing Acoma matata. My guest was also in agreement. Cheers! I will be visiting again.

Naliah B.

Yelp
Great drinks. A nice little spot in Crown Heights. I'd go here for the drinks with a cute date

Kinna L.

Yelp
I came to Lovers Rock for the first time on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. As a conscious, west indian woman in my 30's and from Brooklyn...this is a DOPE HIDDEN GEM. We arrived a little after 10, it was a mellow x diverse crowd. I put my head down into my phone for about 5 min. picked it back up to a LITuation. There were gorgeous men of all cultures walking in and out and I kept my eye on all the rastas while my friend eye'd the white boys...it was a bit of a sausage fest (if you're a dude) but it was a great Friday for us. I had two rum punches, that almost killed me (they were that good!) And danced nonstop to conscious reggae, then some dancehall then soca/calypso....so if you're looking for the rock, trap, hip hop and r&b go somewhere else. The downside of the night however was again the fact that it was a sausage fest so as a result problems always arise..... I was assaulted by a random guy who thought I stepped on his shoe and he physically grabbed my arm and yanked me -- security and other nice patrons acted fast and got his punk ass out of there--- they're black and white Masonic inspired floor is not very safe on a rainy day, if you have big shoes and in this current case: winter/snowfall--- you WILL bust your ass and the busboy did not like the fact that we kept asking him to mop the floor either.. Overall the beautiful bartenders, gorgeous DJ and Hands-On security were awesome people and they made this experience well worth it. I will be going back to lovers rock this is my new Friday night hang!

Rodney H.

Yelp
Me and a dear friend went on a bar hop in our beloved neighborhood on a beautiful Saturday night at the close of Summer. We grabbed a bite to eat at Wadadli Jerk, then caught some Afro-beats vibes at Brew along with a few drafts and wine; nice crowd, down to earth, positive vibes. We were their for hours, and decided to head down to Lover's Rock, $10 door? Okay, we're not ready to end the night. So, we pay it, and make a beeline to the garden; nice crowd, but a bit of a code switch. Whatever!! Feeling like our buzz is waning, so we head to the bar, not a long wait.....my friend wanted rum and coke , but they did not have the one she preferred, pay it, give her the Guyanese 15 year with coke. I decided to have just a coke, and we had a few Pattie's---delic by the way. But bro, what's with the yellow gal's (passé blanc) bartending behavior and out right rudeness. Her very bad attitude is ruinous for a thriving business, and I know this well because I have many years as a business owner in Bedstuy. When one of my employees treated the clientele in such a disrespectful manner, I bid them good bye because they eventually corrode the bottom line. Clients are a businesses life line; people work hard for the money they share with your establishment and should get good service with respect to this exchange. Whenever I am out on the town, one, I am out to have a positive fun evening; two, as a business owner, I am scouting places to recommend to my Airbnb clientele. The service we received at Lover's Rock is unacceptable, and I will not return to this establishment using my hard earned money to reward bad behavior and unchecked attitude. Nah, Covid said, life it too short and fragile to mess around negative energy!

Geraldine E.

Yelp
Last night I came to Lovers Rock. I've attempted twice to come for happy hour before and no one was there. Last night this hipster/ island vibe spot was nice and laidback. With Caribbean music playing in the background but the crowd did not match what this place could be. It was predominantly a white crowd but still cool. The drinks here are potent. I had the Bee Time which was a potent as a rum punch. It is made with Jamaican Rum Fire(tastes like Wray and Nephew), Passion Fruit, and Honey. Supposedly I heard the patties are really good here but unfortunately, they were sold out. I will definitely come back for a late night just for the chill island vibe. This is a place to come on a date for drinks or just to catch up with friends and relax.

Mia K.

Yelp
I am torn to write this review because I want to keep this low key spot to myself but in the words of Biggie: "Spread Love it's the Brooklyn Way". Lovers Rock is a dope reggae bar in the heart of Bed Stuy, it's small and intimate with lots of character. LR is clean, the drinks are good, the staff is cool and the music is rockin! What more could you ask for. There is a sprawling open air patio that is decorated nicely with rocky gravel, not really stiletto friendly but you can stay inside if necessary. The lighting indoors is a very sexy hue of red and reminds you of the sunset over the Caribbean Sea. The sound system in this little bar is pretty strong and at the right volume the conscious reggae tunes really gets you going. After the first drink my girlfriends and I were slow winning around the bar, vibing and having a good time. I don't suggest you come looking for a meal or typical bar food. They serve patties and a few jerk items on certain days of the week. This place is missing one thing that would fully encompass the reggae culture, ummm I have to refrain from mentioning it, let's just say Legalize It!

Kenny C.

Yelp
Come for the cheap beer and cocktails, stay for the chill vibes. They do a lot of unique things here, both in terms of ingredients and even what they offer (their beer and shot special is a Kirin with tequila... like, what is that?). The Painkiller is a great cocktail. Nice and strong but also tasty. Our bartender was pretty no-nonsense. Just took our orders and ignored our chatter. The place is pretty big, but it gets packed, especially with larger groups.

Amira A.

Yelp
Real chill. No food to eat but top notch cocktails that aren't weak. They have happy hour every day too. Well out of the area for me but it's proper good.

D J.

Yelp
My first thought is this place is not worth the hassle! It's safe to say you can avoid this place. Once you get past the body search at the door you encounter the worst bar staff. I use to come here a lot. The ambiance has totally changed.

Ayana R.

Yelp
Seriously the best lounge ever! Great music! Staff not so friendly. Drinks are ok but the vibe is great and would keep you coming back. The bus boy needs an attitude adjustment for sure! Overall great place can't wait for the reopen!

Alicia N.

Yelp
Drinks were horrible. I had the passion fruit rum punch and it taste nothing like any rum punch I've ever had before. The bartender made me another drink and it taste exactly like the rum punch. Music/atmosphere were good.

Marcias A.

Yelp
Cool local spot with a beautiful garden space. The drinks, atmosphere, music and staff is A1.

Maya P.

Yelp
Terrible take a way drink service. My husband ordered a margarita to go. They filled a cup with ice and put barely anything inside. When asked about how little was in the cup and why so much ice they said "this is how they come."

renje g.

Yelp
++ - Heavy handed bartenders - Great Friday night - Fantastic backyard - Best beef patties in Brooklyn (perfect drunk food) - - They close mighty early (2am) - Backyard closes early (11pm)

Tessa C.

Yelp
Omg what a cool bar! Laid back and really GOOD drinks and BBQ on Fridays. I came on a Sunday night after dinner at Eugene and Co up the street for after dinner drinks. I had a rum punch and a Falernum cocktail......I left feeling Irie!......there is a nice backyard but it's small and intimate and the drinks did I mention the drinks!?!? I am definitely coming back for drinks and the old school reggae! So worth a trip!!!

Chey H.

Yelp
Lovers Rock is such a fun spot--I've been here a handful of times for a bunch of occasions: dates, hanging out in the backyard, a late night drink before dancing. The bar is tiny but long, and ends in a beautiful backyard (that closes early, so be aware!) The crowd is super diverse and welcoming--a great mix of people in the neighborhood (like yours truly) as well as those coming from other areas of the city. Drinks are strong and affordable, prices range from $9-$12. I usually get The Painkiller but on a recent visit I had The Ramone and really enjoyed it. I've also enjoyed the Rum and Punch (a classic) and the Free Bike. They also have a nice selection of beers. On the weekends it is packed and you will wait a bit to order but the bartenders do a great job of keeping up with the crowd. There is a small area in front of the DJ booth where people wine and grind, and you should too because the music will always be good when you stop by.

Jay I.

Yelp
On an ordinary day I might've walked past this place. The doors might have been closed the music might have been off or low but no this place invited me in. Called me in. One night my girlfriend and I were in Brooklyn to pick up a freezer and it was national Margarita day. So we went to celebrate national Margarita day because it was the most local bar. Yet, when we got inside we realized that their main selection wasn't tequila at all it was Wray & Nephew and the rest is history. We had there lil meat patties which tasted really good probably more because I was starving. So don't trust me on that point. Lemme go back again when I'm not starved and I'll give you a proper survey of their fare. The patties were small for $4 bucks a piece. It's look like a place where everyone comes to chill and just listen to good tunes.

Maggie A.

Yelp
Last night was my first time attending Lovers Rock and I really enjoyed myself. I felt like I was back in Jamaica. Lovers Rock is bar only establishment, they also have parties and plantain chips. Lovers Rock is definitely a sweat box , but you won't be disappointed. Reggae music is played throughout the night and the dj definitely knew how to keep the crowd entertained. It's best to come here with min clothes and females be warned your hair will sweat out. The bartenders are very attentive despite the big crowd. I love Lovers Rock I wish the backyard stayed open late ; backyard closes at 11pm. I will definitely revisit Lovers Rock. Oh did I mention the drinks are made with love.

Anna K.

Yelp
So I must say my visit to Lovers Rock was a surprisingly good one. As soon as I stepped over the threshold, I was greeted as if I entered into a family home. IMMEDIATELY as we slid into the bar, I was brought the menu and told the specials. How amazing is that. No waiting to be noticed, no waving my arms like I was begging to answer a question in school. Just pure blissful customer service. Since it was my first time here and I just came from eating dinner, I kept it simple and ordered a whiskey sour. The reason for this is because I can't trust your drink making skills if you can't perfect the whiskey sour. This whiskey sour was delicious. Perfectly balanced and not too syrupy). Later on I realized the whens and whys of their drink making. They actually squeeze their juices. The key to life is freshly squeezed juice. Helps carry the liquor and avoid hangover. Kudos to them. ( It's actually a old school arm press too ) There is a cute dj booth between the bar and the mini dance floor. You pass both of these on your way to the backyard. You step up a couple of steps into the backyard. There are different picnic tables set up and also a sitting ledge that trails the parameter of the yard. The mood is actually pretty low key for the amount of patrons that were present. There is a sign that says "Please Respect Our Neighbors" so that probably helps. They actually were playing good tunes while I was there which is definitely needed if you are going to be an island inspired establishment. I would have taken more photos but it was pretty crowded so I didn't want a slew of unconsenting peeps in my pics.

Darren O.

Yelp
Bar in Brooklyn. Caribbean island vibe to the place. Reasonably priced but wasn't my type of bar as I don't like rum. A lot of rum based drinks. They do they have a back patio which is nice but gets filled with smokers if you're there late. Would return if in the area but wouldn't be my first choice.

Rucha D.

Yelp
Fun spot that has recently been taken over by the hipster community: great music, good drink specials, and a fun crowd. Lovers Rock is the type of place where you can stop by on a Tuesday night and you'll still enjoy the music. I'll give you two words that may make you smile: strong drinks. Expect that here. It's a tight spot, with a bar area up front, a small dance floor juxtaposed right in front of the DJ, and an outdoor area that is open in the summers that features a taco truck. The joint is known to be very smoke-friendly (friends have told me that when you wine it pon the dance floor, the heavy, sweet scent of MJ usually takes over the place). It was known to be a great spot for the Caribbean community to hang a few years back, but due to BK's neighborhoods changing on a daily basis, Lovers Rock has modified itself quite a bit. The clientele is young, but it now seems like a local watering hole/ dive bar of sorts. Don't get me wrong though, this place can turn up on the weekends just as much as you'd expect!

Yelp
Walking distance from my home, so why am I just discovering this awesome place?! Who's been keeping this amazing Jamaican spot from this amazing Jamaican girl?! Thanks to Yelp this will be the start of a long, drunken relationship! The music was exceptional, took me back to my "young" days in Jamaica. Lovers rock has always been my favorite genre of Jamaican music so you can imagine my excitement when I realized this bar isn't just called Lovers Rock, but also plays it! There's a beautiful backyard that I didn't venture out to because it was just too cold for that but you know who'll b me sipping cocktails out there come summer. The service was great, the drinks were perfection and the mood was just right.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. My friend and I stumbled on it as we were walking and decided to hang out there and we had a lot of fun. I love that your able to bring your own food to eat. The DJ was playing reggae and a mix of R&B and Hip-Hop. It gets packed around 9ish-10ish. The rum punch was on point as well. I will be returning.
