The 12 Best Chinese Bakeries In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The BBQ pork buns from Lung Fung have a cult following more intense than that one North Beach psychic. That’s because they’re the best in the city. Baked until the tops are crispy and filled with a saucy filling that’s not too fatty, they make all other char siu bao quiver in fear. Don’t skip the other items at this Richmond bakery, especially the ham and corn or green onion buns." - megan zhang, julia chen 1, patrick wong

The 10 Best BBQ Pork Buns In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Lung Fung’s BBQ pork buns are the Richmond’s hottest commodity since the invention of “Do Not Block Driveway” signs. They have enough filling to gush out of the sides when you take a bite, the tops are crispy, and they’re typically still warm when they get peeled off the baking sheets and tucked into a pastry box. You will need a dozen, minimum. This is also the fastest item to sell out, so get here when they open at 7:30am or prepare a back-up order (the egg tarts and sponge cakes are great plan Bs)." - julia chen 1, patrick wong

The 25 Best Restaurants In The Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"No morning in the Richmond is complete without the BBQ pork buns from Lung Fung. The cash-only Chinese bakery makes the best ones in the city, and it’s not even close. They’re typically peeled off the baking sheet still warm and stuck together like a pile of snuggled-up puppies, and are filled with saucy pork that gushes out when you take a bite. There are other oven-baked things that are worth your time here, like the fragrant green onion bun or the stretchy bolo bao, but your priority should be the char siu." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez

Where to Eat and Drink in the Richmond District

"The signboard menu at this old-school Cantonese bakery, with prices given in cents instead of dollars, is a throwback to a different era. You won’t find anything resembling an entree here, but the egg custard tarts are the flakiest in the neighborhood, and the meaty baked barbecue pork buns are probably tops in the entire city. Dragon Beaux is another favorite in the area for dim sum." - Dianne de Guzman, Paolo Bicchieri, Eater Staff

As local and authentic as it gets. Lung Fung bakery might be one of the few remaining “old-school” Cantonese bakery in SF. The bbq pork buns are one of the best (in the West Coast). While the prices had gone up like everything and everywhere, the bakery has kept its products affordable. Be patient as there can be a long line too order. Come when the buns just comes out of the oven. CASH only

Google
The baked BBQ pork char siu bun are good, but not amazing. They are too sweet and appease to the Western sweet pallet. Best in the area? May be? Best overall? Absolutely not. Best I've had in the USA has to be Mei Lai Wah in NYC.

Google
Great barbecue buns that are fresh from the oven. The pineapple barbecue buns are even more tastier. They usually run them out very fast in the morning. Get there early. They open at 7:30 am.

I bought a mini day pass and took the opportunity to ride around town today with my mom. We came out to Dinner Richmond specifically to grab some pork buns. There was a line when we arrived and another when we left, so this place is popular. The person in front of me actually came from Sacramento to stock up. She got 6 dozen buns in total, including roast pork, pineapple custard and green onion. She said she preordered the day before since she was getting so many. So, I had high expectations. I ordered 10 pineapple and roast pork buns and asked for 1 to be set aside so Mom and I could sample it in the store. It was delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of the other buns or else I may have gotten some more. Next time.... Note, price per bun varies and it's cash only.

Google
This reminds me of the baked manapua shop in Hawaii where I accompanied my mom to pick up large food orders. The store appears to be a legacy business with loyal customers. We had previously eaten dim sum nearby but saved some space in our bellies for the baked char siu bao and our favorite dan tat. Both did not disappoint. Served up warm. The filling of the char siu bao was delicious (savory and sweet and no red food coloring). The egg start crust had the perfect crunch and flake. Oh, so good. Definitely will be back!

Google
A truly wheat flour, Chinese bakery (no BS) doing one thing well — baked buns with alluringly caramel-brown crusts. A 3-man team can be seen preparing the dough in the back during morning hours. Baked BBQ Pork Buns, excellent.

Barry Louie

Google
This review only pertains to the char siu baos. I’ve searched high and low and tried over two dozen bakery’s char siu baos across the entire city of SF from Chinatown to Mission, to Ocean Avenue to the Richmond and Sunset districts, and Lung Fung is my favorite, by a long shot. What makes this my favorite BBQ Pork bun in the City? The filling is generous, the BBQ pork is chopped in .5cm pieces, no odd bits of gristle or fat, the bun is chewy, yet soft and sweet, and there are no dead spots, where you take a bite and it’s all bread and no filling. FYI - Curry beef Puff pastry is baked much later in the morning. Cash Only.

Google
10-26-21: Got a few custard tarts and BBQ pork buns to go. The custard tarts were very tasty. Lots of filling and flaky crust! The pork buns were good with a generous amount of filling. I found something a little different in the dough. Maybe some coconut flavor?!? Couldn't pinpoint the exact ingredient. Not sure if I liked the coconut.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Bbq pork buns are absolutely delicious. High quality meat and large bites in the pork buns I'd also recommend buying anything you see popping out of the oven - I got the curry puff which was grand. They do a good job of keeping their pastries warm. The staff is also very very nice. They don't speak the best English but are absolutely friendly. For example, after paying for my order they gave me back change that I didn't want, so they tried giving me $1, which they absolutely didn't have to offer. It's just a small example of how they're very nice. I would note that unlike some other dim sum type stores, this is a bakery (hence the name), so you won't find dumplings. It's actually nice that they just focus on their craft vs. offering everything and being good at nothing. So highly recommend going here and trying some food whether as a snack or a meal! Oh and bring cash as it's all cash!

Yelp
My brother always brings me their goodies when he surprise visits me at work and I have completely fallen in love with their Chinese baked goods. Everything I have tried so far has been top tier and easily above par compared to most spots in the city. From what I have seen, their prices are fair and competitive with other well-known bakeries. The egg custard tarts and BBQ pork buns are my absolute favorites here. They are made properly and well. Not too sweet and just the right balance. This bakery makes all the tradition Chinese baked goods and more. I have had their items three times so far, and the quality has been consistently great each time. I am planning to visit soon, but I might have to stop myself from ordering way too much! :D

Yelp
Came here to try the BBQ pork bun and it was delicious! I actually preferred the pineapple bun with bbq as it had a little more crisp on the crust. Lucky enough to get warm buns, but the egg tarts and regular pineapple bun were also excellent. Cash only and waited probably 15 minutes in line with 6 groups ahead of me just slightly outside the door when I arrived. The cashier was taking and filling the order, answering calls, running the cash register (cash only!) so it was just a little slow and chaotic - old school style. I'm a fan and the prices were very reasonable - will be back to explore more of the menu!

Yelp
Great local Chinese bakery in outer Richmond. Love their gam and egg, egg tarts, Bbq pork bun, and green onion bun. They often run out by noon on weekends. Closed on Mondays.
google avatar

Becky V.

Yelp
Sometimes there will be a line especially during lunch hour. Could be about a 5-10min wait. Helps one person at a time. Tell them what you want and how many pieces. Know by the time you get to the front so it can be efficient and you pay and keep the line moving Egg tarts are popular and well made here. Egg is creamy and soft texture, the crusty flakes are soft and yummy just right Cocktail bun also popular here Seniors play Chinese chess at the tables, their usual hangout spot. A good community spot really. Casual

Yelp
My coworker brought the BBQ pork buns to work one day and they tasted amazing. I finally came back months later with my husband and we got the BBQ pork buns again, as well as cream buns. We wanted to try other things but it would take 1-2 hours for them to have more. Seems like they make the pastries on a rolling basis since they sell out quickly. The BBQ pork buns were savory with a little sweetness to them. It wasn't my absolute favorite but the bun and meat were cooked well, and they were hot out the oven. The cream buns were also good and reminded me of ones we get from our fave spot in Chicago's Chinatown. The place is small with 2-3 tables inside. Almost everyone we saw took the pastries to go. We would come back!

Yelp
Some good friends spent the day in SF, and were kind enough to bring home and give us some egg tarts. The crust was a bit thicker but very flaky and buttery. The smooth and creamy egg custard was not overly sweet but delicious. Thanks again J&L! We'll have to check them out personally the next time we're in the city! Support your local business.
google avatar

Carrie C.

Yelp
The egg tarts here are everything they should be, warm, buttery, flaky crust, with a smooth egg-forward custard that's just the right level of sweetness. Tastes even better if you catch them fresh out of the oven. They also have classic buns like roast pork buns, pineapple buns, cocktail buns, scallion buns and even a pretty solid chicken pot pie. Cash only, quick service, old school Chinese bakery vibe. No frills, just flavor. Best place to get egg tarts in the area. I'll be skipping a trip to Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown from now on.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery in the whole wide world. Everything delicious. Bbq buns, coconut bun with sweet fluffy filling, chicken pot pie, curry pie, spam and egg.
google avatar

Avonna O.

Yelp
The pork bun was sooo good!! It tasted amazing! The service was quick and polite. The ambiance was very original I love that they have the same vibe since I was a kid! If you don't know what a pork bun is it's a sweet and soft bun that has bbq pork baked into it. So delicious
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
Was in the area so I walked up and waited ~10 minutes in line for a bunch of char siu bao, dan taat, and cocktail bun. Cocktail bun was fresh out the oven all pillowy soft, very aromatic, and a perfect ratio between the addictive coconut filling and bread. The dan taat pastry was light, crispy, and super thin..definitely none like I have ever had before. The egg custard was standard, but I understand why this is my grandma's favorite place for dan taats. I did not try any of the char siu bao unfortunately so no review. Cash only. Workers are really patient and kind (even if they scold you for dropping loose change all over the counter and holding up the line). I will certainly come back!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Hands down the best char siu bao in the Bay! My husband and I did a char siu bao taste test in SF and this was the best one by far. Delicious filling that is not too sweet and good ratio of bread to meat. They were able to accommodate a walk-in order of 54 char siu baos but we did have to wait ~15 minutes for them to finish baking fresh ones. If you ever have the chance to have one straight out of the oven it will change your life. I would recommend calling ahead if you are going to be making a large order. Cash only and no-frills ambiance but happy to support this local gem for many years to come! Whenever I come to the city from the East Bay I have to stock up for the freezer.

Yelp
I've always visited this place when I'm craving BBQ pork buns, especially when I'm working in the area. The pork buns have a delicious taste and the soft dough always hits the spot. **Tip:** This place is old school, meaning it only accepts cash. So, make sure to bring some cash with you. It can be hit-or-miss when it's busy, so be prepared for that!

Yelp
Go to place for Chinese bbq pork buns and egg tarts. But... their curry pastry and pineapple buns are killer as well. They speak English so don't be afraid to go try this place. Small interior with minimal seating. Only a couple tables in there but most people take to go. Hot coffee too You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Time to link some pictures and do a quick update. My current favorite is the picture I just posted with all your 4's!!!! Quality/Quantity - Very limited selection today 12/25/24, but thank you for being open on Christmas Day. Custard egg pies!! Still my family's favorite. They all rate this 5 stars; I personally thought these tarts were 4 stars. But I am the minority, so 5 stars it is! We got assorted pastries today. Atmosphere - Very small local bakery, where everyone knows everyone. Open 6 days a week from 7am to 6pm; closed Monday. Yelp hours differ. Street parking, but not an issue as we ate lunch down the block today. Service - Good. Price - $20, my guest paid. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success; we are regular customers.

Yelp
I was introduced to this place by Kamy T. who brought these amazing char sui bows to our Sunday school class at church and all I could do is keep thinking about how I need to make a visit myself! Finally, I had the time to go and it was incredible! The line was long and I nearly missed the dr appt to follow but, it was worth the trip. I could smell the baked goodness and feel the warmth of freshly baked buns straight out of the oven thru the box. I got the pineapple char siu bows and regular baked bows and both are so amazing! LOVED the pineapple ones because they have that perfect flakey outside and packed w tons of char siu on the inside. My mom who is especially picky said the baked bbq bows were the best she's ever had. Also got some egg tarts and have yet to dig into them but was so full from the bows that I don didn't have room for dessert. I'm coming back and going to try out their other items next time. Prices are also extremely reasonable and portions are huge.

Yelp
If you're in the neighborhood this place is a gem. Highlights: EGG TART and ALMOND WALNUT COOKIE, see below for detailed review. Items listed in order according to the photo: sponge cake in paper wrapper, then each pastry going clockwise: Egg tart: incredibly light and buttery pastry. Not too sweet (ultimate compliment) and not heavy, I feel like I could inhale quite a few. MUST TRY Sponge cake: Eggy, as it should be. We ate these 1-2 days after purchase and they might have gotten more dense, but still tasty 鲍鱼酥 Abalone Shaped Pastries: never had these in my life. Slightly sweet, tiny bit savory, not actually abalone flavored (just abalone shaped). Crispy exterior Red bean pastry: Good red bean to pastry ratio, if you like red bean, this is a good option Wife cake: good, pretty standard Almond walnut cookie: amazing, fresh and crumbly.. but still deliciously chewy?? I'm not even a fan of almond cookies but these are a MUST TRY. The only thing is I can't seem to find the walnut

Yelp
Hands down best Cha Siu Baos and even Ham and Egg Baos in San Francisco. Came on a Saturday and parking can be a bit rough but did the classic San Francisco style parking and double parked in a red zone across the street to quickly get my order. The line moves CRAZY slow. There were only 3-4 people ahead of me and it took maybe 15 minutes to get my order in and this is with two people working the register. Also remember that it is CASH ONLY. I ordered: 1. 1 dozen Cha Siu Baos: So much filling and the baos are so fresh and fluffy. The cost is also quite fair for what you get. The sauce flavor is also perfect! 2. Ham and Egg: So good! The egg is so fluffy and breaks apart and goes so well with the Ham. Overall, this is a must come to if you like Cha Siu Bao. It's better than locations in Chinatown. The price is very fair and the all of the baked goods are all high quality.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
I heard this place has good Baked char siu bao (aka BBQ pork bun). It is indeed delicious. The buns I bought today were fresh out of the oven. Toasty on the outside with good amount of bbq pork filling inside. 5 stars for the BBQ pork bun. I also had the pineapple bun with bbq pork, pineapple bun with cream filling, cocktail bun, milk cream bun and egg tart. Pineapple bun with bbq pork: 5 stars Pineapple bun with cream filling : 4 stars Cocktail bun: 4 stars Milk cream bun: 4 stars Egg tart: 4.5 stars Service is quick and efficient. Overall I highly recommend this bakery and give it an overall rating of 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Lung Fung's Egg Tart is pretty competitive against the Golden Gate Bakery Egg Tart and as a bonus is significantly cheaper, $2.32 at Lung Fung versus $3.75 at Golden Gate Bakery. The Lung Fung egg tart has more lard which makes it flakier, rich and a toasty taste with a very good filling. Parking is very hard to find but you know which days and hours Lung Fung is open. Although Golden Gate makes an excellent egg custard you never know when they will be open or for how long. If you have to drive to Golden Gate, it is frustrating to pay toll, gas, parking and then find out they are closed for the frequent vacations or other reasons for closure. The other buns are pretty good at Lung Fung. The BBQ bun is chewy, has a fair amount of filling and is light on the filling flavor, meat was a bit dry. All of the buns are chewy which I like and baked to a golden brown. I liked the custard buns, to me the chewiness and sweet filling blended nicely. The Pineapple Bun was good too. Curry Pie is very spicy. On my next trip I plan to go earlier than 11:30 am to make sure I can get everything. They ran out of the Pineapple Buns with Custard.
google avatar

Abbie N.

Yelp
Yummy bread. My favorite is their pineapple bun filled with char siu meat, generous with the meat filling. Will definitely come back to try their other pastries. Cash only
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
Stopped in for some Bbq pork buns. It's small and not fancy inside but the food is good. The buns were filling and delicious. They had good flavor and loved the amount of filling to bun ratio. There wasn't much of a line so service was fairly quick. Cash only so come prepared.
google avatar

Rose T.

Yelp
I've had their egg tarts many times, whether for a quick snack, at gatherings, or through generous coworkers. 酥皮蛋挞 Egg Custard ($2.23): +Crust tastes like a mix between flaky and biscuit +Custard was creamy, eggy, and not sweet. -Inconsistent quality: For the most part, they've been flaky but sometimes I eat it immediately and it's cold and soggy. Side notes: 1.) Cash only 2.) Limited indoor seating: There are only a few chairs available. *Verdict: Solid spot in the Richmond District for egg tarts. Maybe one day I'll try their other baked goods...
google avatar

Shirley N.

Yelp
Today I was there around 11:15am. Three people were ahead of me. The line moved quickly. When it was my turn I asked for six bbq pork buns. Another 15 minutes I was advised. Rather than wait I went with six pineapple bbq pork buns and six custard egg tarts. The pineapple bbq pork bun is $2.65 each but it's very big and filled with plenty of bbq pork. Sweet & savory with each bite. It's a good substitute if they're out of their regular bbq pork buns. And you can't go wrong with the custard egg tarts. I parked at a yellow meter across the street, and kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't get ticketed. No ticket.
google avatar

Margaret W.

Yelp
This review is ONLY for the bbq pork buns Had to wait 8 minutes for the baked BBQ pork buns but it's totally worth the wait. Got those and the pineapple BBQ pork buns-- both were so good. I slightly prefer the pineapple topping one - it adds a slightly crunchy texture. The meat is not fatty and the bread to filling ratio is excellent. Reminds me of Cafe Bakery on Noriega. IYKYK. Not much of an ambiance here. Couple of tables to sit and devour your baked goods. Dated interior but don't let that fool you. They also sell Chinese newspapers. Cash only.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line out the door. The only people sitting at the tables inside were a couple of people playing Xiang Qi, reminding me of the bakeries I used to go to as a kid. The line was slow, but you know the food is good when everyone is willing to wait. A lot of the other pastry items were gone by the time I got to the front, but their classics are always stocked. I got the BBQ Pork Bun and a Sponge cake. The BBQ Pork bun was so yummy! Absolutely filled with meat and the dough was sweet and fluffy. It was gone within minutes. The sponge cake was also a delight! So airy and fluffy, it felt like eating a cloud and practically melted in your mouth. Love this place! They're cash only so be prepared, but it was so cheap! Would definitely come back to try their egg tarts!
google avatar

Alvin L.

Yelp
You go, you wait in line while you spectate a Chinese chess match, you order, you pay cash. The cha siu bao (Chinese bbq pork bun) , and the dan tat (egg tart) are, for me, seasoned with love and nostalgia. The magic comes when you leave, find a quiet spot to reminisce, and enjoy the beautiful baked goods
google avatar

Anny L.

Yelp
Lung Fung is a local Chinese bakery in the Richmond neighborhood. More of a takeout spot with limited seating inside. Not the most ornate bakery but definitely has the best bbq pork bun! Hot straight from the oven! Had to wait a bit but totally worth it! Can't wait to go back for more!
google avatar

Ethan W.

Yelp
Lung Fung is my mom's favorite bakery in SF and it's no surprise why they typically sell out before they close!! My family and I really enjoy their Curry pastry puffs along with their egg custard tarts. Everything is very affordable but do make sure you bring cash since they don't accept cards. The lady normally helping customers is very nice and I love how much support and business they're getting! Please check em out but make sure to go early since they tend to sellout of a lot of things throughout the day!
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
Expect lines and limited street parking Dishes: -4 scallion bread ($7.30) -12 egg tarts ($26.75)
google avatar

H W.

Yelp
Genuinely the best pork buns I've ever had. They're so delicious it makes me wanna cry. Crunchy sweet bread and warm pork filling. Other pastries are good too, slightly smaller than normal and a little pricier but quality is very good. Very warm and small place, quick and courteous staff.
google avatar

Sharon K.

Yelp
Great bakery for Asian baked goods! Came in the morning, and the bread was fresh from the oven. One of my favorite bakeries to visit awhile I'm visiting NorCal.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
Char Siu Bao (Baked) is soooo good! The shop is a traditional Chinese bakery, nothing fancy. The interior is very small with only 3 available tables for seating. Baos are constantly baking and coming out which makes me so happy that they will rarely run out! It was raining today but craving was still satisfied once we got our boxes of baos to share with our family :) service was quick, we were in and out in about 5 mins!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
Quick service, CASH ONLY! Cute interior that's definitely designed for the community. Egg Tarts here are delicious, large and flaky!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Brought a friend here after the lunch rush for what they had left, which of course would still be good Carried out their delicious baked Cha Siu Baos and some buttery dOn Tots (Egg Tarts). They were all out of Pineapple Custard buns and Cocktail Buns, sorry mom! We'd only have these at special occasions back then. And only my uncle would know where to pick it up q_q Glad I can spoil ourselves still today!
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Local Chinese bakery in Central Richmond area serving delicious homemade breads and pastries like bbq pork buns, egg tarts, curry pie, pineapple buns, and more! Tried some of their egg tarts and they were so fresh and flaky, the best I've ever had! I got a sponge cake to go and it was the softest, most pillow-y, fluffy cake. I'll be dreaming of it until I get one again! Service was incredibly friendly, and it seemed to be a popular spot with many locals inside watching TV, reading newspaper, and playing Xiangqi. Seriously, don't miss this local-owned bakery. Come early before they sell out of their popular items and bring cash!
google avatar

Kristy K.

Yelp
Having grown up on Chinese pastries, I'm always on the lookout for a place that brings back those nostalgic flavors. I found this spot on Yelp and decided to drop by around lunchtime. When I arrived, I saw a line of about five parties, and it was clear this place has a popular following--every group was ordering boxes of pastries. There were many options that it's almost overwhelming in the best way. I ended up getting a box myself to share with my colleagues, and it did not disappoint. My favorites were the ham & egg pastry and their dan tat, which were perfectly flaky and flavorful. I'll definitely be back. Even as I'm writing this, I can't stop thinking about that incredible flaky dan tat!
google avatar

Lizzie L.

Yelp
I love love love their egg custard tarts! Why drive down to Chinatown when you can go to Lung Fung Bakery. I also would like to recommend the pineapple pork buns. Yummmm-my!
google avatar

A L.

Yelp
Finally no lines so tried this neighborhood bakery. There is nothing fancy here- just delicious Chinese bakery items. While there is some seating available , this a takeout bakery. Only tried the baked char Sui buns and they did not disappoint. Good meat to dough ratio.
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
My favorite place for Baked BBQ Pork Buns. They have a good quality filling and have never disappointed me. The shop can get busy weekend mornings , but you can always count on fresh baked goods. Parking is not horrible, and the staff has always been pleasant. Always a pleasure coming here.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Ok. Wouldn't say it's the best custard tart. Really good at first, but a bit of a strange aftertaste. Overall, a simple Chinese bakery.

Rachel H.

Yelp
If you are a BBQ pork bun lover, this is the spot. They are usually nice and fresh in the morning! Other buns and pastries are good too.
google avatar

Robbie W.

Yelp
They're back!! I don't know if they have a new owner or what but the baked cha siu bow tastes like it used to! Don tot is good too. Rarely do things ever go back to how they were but I'm happy to say this time is the exception!! Looking forward to seeing the old timers sitting outside smoking and play Chinese chess again too!
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese bakery in town! If you're craving for a delicious, flavorful, and a slight crunch BBQ pork bun, then this is your place! They have a variety of other savory bake goods as well. ;) I ordered the following items: * BBQ pork bun * Chicken Pie * Curry Pie * Egg tarts Everything was delicious! Bon appetite!

Loved thier bbq pork buns and egg custard tarts! Seriously can't get enough of them! Service was quick and easy just telling the staff what you wanted and a simple cash exchange is all you need to get to the fresh baked goods.

Yelp
Really good bbq pork buns. Seems pretty popular because there's always a line out the door and the person behind me asked for 3 dozen bbq pork buns without a pre-order. 8 buns came out to be $18.80, and they were hot and fresh. The bun was a bit crisp on top, but it was also soft and chewy. Generously filled with sweetly marinated lean pork meat. Probably the most satisfying pork bun I've had in a while. They were still warm by the time I got home an hour later. Best to eat warm because it does get sweeter as it cools.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday afternoon after putting in a phone order. We arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time, but they were still kind enough to fulfill our order early. This little Chinese bakery has all the typical things any Chinese bakery would have, but if you're here, I'd recommend getting the cha siu bao (bbq pork bun) and dan tats (egg custard tarts). We ordered a dozen dan tats but asked the lady to leave a couple unboxed so we could eat them fresh. The crust was soft yet flaky and the custard was warm and tasty; the combination just melts in your mouth in the most satisfying way. So comforting and delicious. The workers are really friendly! Note that it is cash only. Parking might be difficult since it's all street parking.

Yelp
1. If you're looking for a good cha siu bao or dan tat, look no further. 2. Like many others have mentioned, Lung Fung makes a really good cha siu bao - it's my favorite. If you time your visit just right, you might get lucky enough to get one fresh out of the oven. The fresh buns come out shiny and the tops are still crunchy so if you tap it with your nails, you'll get some asmr. The filling is always hot and seasoned perfectly, and you get a lot of it - one of these is a lunch for me. 3. Their dan tat is my favorite in SF. The crust is so flakey, with so many layers, and buttery, it melts in your mouth. The filling is smooth and the perfect sweetness and consistency. 4. Although I no longer live in the area, I'll be making trips to visit my favorite Cantonese bakery.

Yelp
The most delightful baked cha siu bao!! Filled with so much cha siu. The top of the bun had the most perfect shiny gloss. We loved the green onion ham bun as well--excellent chew and flavor. Will absolutely be back again!
