Energetic spot offering combo meals with traditional Korean BBQ meats & sides, soju & beer.
"A big chain in Asia, Magal BBQ continues to prepare some of the best mid-range Korean barbecue in town, featuring flavorful off-cuts and non-primal selections that still offer plenty in the way of flavor. The combination plates work best for groups of four or more. The egg and fried rice volcano is a fun way to cap off meals here, too." - Matthew Kang, Cathy Park
"Magal strikes a nice balance between the rowdiness of Ahgassi Gopchang and the high-end steakhouse feel of Parks. Plan to skip the combo platters and instead order a la carte at this industrial spot on 8th Street. We’ve found that you get better cuts of meat for the same amount of money. Focus on the marinated beef options and then add in any pork dish that catches your eye. And do your best to not fill up on the banchan—or do actually, it’s some of our favorite in the neighborhood." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"As anyone familiar with Ktown KBBQ knows, snagging a table can be quite the production. Not at Magal. This small, bright spot takes last-minute reservations and walk-ins, plus a quality of meat and banchan unmatched by 80% of the restaurants in the area. Sure, there’s some Diplo blaring through the speakers, but even if you don’t normally like EDM, you’ll find that slowly but surely stuffing your face with bulgogi and soju to the beat of house music is a religious experience not unlike blasting Alanis Morisette while driving down Sunset alone at night." - sylvio martins, brant cox, kat hong, nikko duren
