Best Tacos in Dallas and Fort Worth | Eater Dallas

"It’s hard to believe that when this spot opened, it didn’t even sell tacos. Now, it’s known for them. The tacos feature corn and flour tortillas made fresh daily, and an order of the tacos tripa y lengua is a must — yes, even if tripe and tongue are kind of scary. Both its Dallas locations are the typical taqueria, with very little seating inside and some tables out front." - Courtney E. Smith

Insanely good! Prepare to sit outside or take to go— but everything we had was awesome. The salsa verde was great and the sopas were killer. Price is a little high for the ambiance and the portion sizes but the food was great and we’ll be back.

Google
It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to find a place that reminds me of the street tacos I grew up with back in CA. I’m not much of a Tex-Mex person, so it’s been a little far and few in between since we’ve lived in TX where we’ve been able to find actual street tacos that we actually liked. This place did not disappoint! Thanks to the power of social media, this was a high recommended place and the best part… we didn’t have to wait until noon to enjoy tacos! Although their hours said 10am, be prepared to wait a little while because it doesn’t seem like they were quite prepared at 10am. I had placed an online order and it said it would be ready for pick up by 10:30, and unfortunately we didn’t get our food until close to 11. Nonetheless, the food made up for it. We an order of the Chicken Flautas which were delicious! It’s loaded with fresh veggies and their salsa paired perfectly with it. Then of course got the street tacos (Cabeza, Pastor, Mix Fajita & Bistek, and Tripas y Lengua). All were amazing! They did not skimp on the meat, and I love that we didn’t have to request for fresh onions & cilantro like we’ve had to do in the past. Meats Ranked from Best to Least: 1. Tripas y Lengua 2. Cabeza 3. Pastor 4. Fajita & Bistek Regardless of their rank, we will most definitely be back for more delicious tacos!

Google
If you are coming here because of the yelp review, turn around. 😂 The person that gave it the award must have been drunk or on drugs. Honestly, they're your normal gas station type tacos. Nothing to see here. I've traveled all over Mexico and the US trying tacos. These are average. Not bad, but definitely NOT the best in Dallas.

Google
Mami Coco is a hidden gem that delivers big flavor in a cozy, authentic setting. From the moment you walk up to the colorful mural and the inviting patio with bright orange chairs, you know you're in for something special. The tacos are incredible — fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down with friends, the food and atmosphere make this a top-tier taco spot. The staff is friendly, the prices are great, and the "antojitos" (little cravings) truly hit the spot. If you're anywhere near Dallas and craving real Mexican street-style tacos, do yourself a favor and hit up Mami Coco. You won't regret it! 🌮🌶️💃🇲🇽

Google
went for taco Tuesday special — about $10 for 5 tacos and a can of soda. solid tacos, I like that they’re not greasy. the tacos could’ve been more stacked, so I would recommend ordering more than 5 tacos if you come hungry. I would come back just to try their quesadillas

Tiffany Lam

Google
Some of the best lengua and pastor tacos I’ve had. Horchata was a bitttt too sweet for me, but I’d make the drive here again just for those delicious tacos. Staff was super friendly and helpful

Google
Mami Coco is the crown jewel of East Dallas. This place is the king. No question, these are the best street tacos I’ve had in Dallas. I usually come here once a week. I always get the three desebrado tacos, and then I switch it up with either cabeza, bistec, or fajita beef. The desebrado is perfectly seasoned and cooked every time. The flavor is unreal. They dip the corn tortillas in fat before grilling them, which gives them that perfect texture. Then they hit them with a big scoop of onions and cilantro. Simple setup, but it hits hard. This might be one of the biggest hole-in-the-wall spots you’ll ever come across. If you didn’t know what you were looking for, you might drive right by. But once you try it, you get it. The tacos do all the talking. I’ve had the chicken flautas too. They’re solid. A nice, nostalgic snack. I’ve also tried the quesadillas, which are really good. But honestly, you come here for the tacos. That’s where the magic is.

Google
Giving it 4 stars because I had to wait 40 minutes for 3 tacos, but it was also Saturday at noon so I get that, the place was packed. However, the tacos were absolutely amazing. Will definitely return (on a weekday).

Aileen G.

Yelp
Super delicious! The service was very good attentive. I would definitely recommend the enchiladas if you love, queso fresco, and sour cream. The green salsa was not too spicy, and definitely had a lot of flavor. If you're looking for a place to get some quick delicious food, I would definitely stop by!!!

Yelp
I came here on a Saurday that seemed less busy than I have read in other reviews. It took a while for the food to come out, and my customer service kept being interrupted by people that were coming in and out of the doors. As far as the food, I got simple chicken street tacos, and I didn't really taste any flavor from the meats. Maybe its what I got idk, but the prices were decent so I am not too pressed about it. My overall experience was meh.

Yelp
Hole in the wall... the wall actually says "top 10 taquerias in the U.S.!!" Small parking lot. Decent amount of people here on a weekend night. Seating inside is pretty minimal. It's against the wall, which is pretty close to the register. Seating outside is the best bet. Variety of stuff: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, flautas, sopes. Tripe and lenuga are extra: $2.99 on tacos. Got the burritos, which comes in 3 small ones instead of a big one. Haven't seen this before. I think you can get a different meat in each one, but it wasn't clear to me and ended up getting barbacoa in all of them. Whoops. About $10 after tax.. $8.99 currently. It was good. Filling enough. My friend wasn't full though after their 3 burritos... I would recommend stopping by in the area. Not sure on the top 10 title though...

Yelp
Was in the area and decided to try out Mami Coco. It's small little spot with seating outside, prices range from $1.99-$3.50 depending if you want corn or flour. Ordered the tripas and asada, they were pretty tasty topped with cilantro and onion. The hot sauces they came with were definitely spicy.
google avatar

Claudia D.

Yelp
Came in for a bite to eat. It is a cute place. The outside has a cute mural on the outside. They only have outside seating but it is covered. You can only order inside and they have a few chairs to wait for your food. The food is yummy and filled up. Really good place to stop and eat. We had sopes, street tacos, and sweet empanadas. The container said fresa but they were really piña, but they were still very good.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great find! Just good food with no fuss. The tacos , while small ...they're just perfect little bites. The burritos were so flavorful. Didn't try the sopas this time but , will be a reason to come back!

Donna R.

Yelp
Customer service is pretty garbage here but the food is great, like the workers are always a little slow or just not communicating which is frustrating though food is delicious

Whitley C.

Yelp
This places used to be my go-to but the last several times I've come the pork tacos have changed into this new greasy crunchy formula... almost fried. I'm not sure but it isn't good. They used to be delicious. I did notice a new cook the last time I came. It's really hit or miss depending on who is on the grill. I also called ahead to order and I was told it would be 20 mins. When I arrived, after 20 mins, I was told it would be another 15 mins. After that I waited another 10 minutes. 45 mins for carry-out tacos is crazy, but at least give me realistic time when I call in so I can manage my expectations. I'll be looking for a new go-to taco spot
google avatar

Brandon E.

Yelp
They didn't accept the free flautas coupon from their website but that's okay because the tacos were good. However the tacos were expensive at almost $3 each one and their whole dining area is just 4 wooden tables outside, their kitchen and order area is the same thing so 2 out if 5 stars.
google avatar

Julisa P.

Yelp
Small quaint location located by a station. The inside is quite small with just three seats in a bar style sitting. The outside does have a small gazebo with benches. We ate in the car. Down to the food... it is amazing. Authentic style food. The kitchen is open so you can see them preparing your food. Red sauce is very spicy, green sauce is more subtle with spice. Will definitely be returning

Lydia M.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! I discovered it one day and had to go in and check it out. The tacos are so good and it's so cute and the people working there are always so nice! I hope Saul is still there, cause he remembers you b
google avatar

Kel M.

Yelp
Food was out hot and ready 5 minutes after ordering. The tacos were both flavorful and the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The salsa verde paired with the lime gave the tacos a very nice flavor. Drove an hour to try them and would definitely again!
google avatar

Erica E.

Yelp
Food was okay. Not Cali street tacos. No pastor or asada... service was nice but only 1 chef. This place is small a corner store with outdoor seating. Lost my appetite with the flies and trash all around. The Barbacoa lacked flavor. Salsa verde was good
google avatar

Yelp
Mami Coco is fire. Reminded me how there's amazing tacos in Dallas. You need to come here. Mami Coco had treated us with kindness and was comforting to meet the owners. Service was great. The place is small but if you come on a chill day it'll be easy to find parking. The taste of the tacos was amazing. I got the bistec fajita street taco with corn. Only $1.99 a taco.
google avatar

Arianny R.

Yelp
Love coming here for the taco special on Tuesdays. Tasty food, chill vibes, and friendly service.

Yelp
I was in Dallas for the day and decided to try a place that was on my saved collection that I haven't tried before. Mami Coco was high on that list and very close in distance so I knew I had to try these tacos! This quaint restaurant is located near a convenient store and has a lovely outdoor seating area. While the inside is a tight squeeze, the beautifully decorated walls are welcoming and enticing. There are plenty of options on the menu including burritos, quesadillas, and even desserts! I was helped almost immediately when I arrived. I decided to get the standard carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro. They came with two green sauces and one orange/red. The tacos were authentically scrumptious! The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. No gristle, fat, or inedible bites. You can taste the love in the food. There were so many take out orders while I was waiting for my food. You can't tell this place is popular and well loved. I will definitely return to enjoy these tacos again and try the many other items on the menu!

Yelp
Make sure you do not order on their app. We ordered on the app and did not receive the food until 30 minutes later than when it said it would be ready. First they did not have the order, then they did not have what we ordered, asked us to change the order which as a cheaper option to what we ordered but did not offer a refund of the difference then got the order completely wrong. They need to get it together! Very frustrating to order and not have it ready plus not have what we ordered.

Yelp
Amazing food. Really had a great time. A unique experience for sure. Will go back many times.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Hella authentic spot with a mom and pop feel. Food was really good too. You won't be disappointed ! Pro tip: the inside space is super limited so if you don't want to sit on the patio order take out!

Manuel A.

Yelp
Best flautas !! ( crunchy shredded beef or chicken tacos ) They serve with a really good salad on top. And their orange salsa although really hot is the best Try them you can go wrong
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall just off of the street next to a convenience store. Really good tripe tacos! We got it crispy and it was perfect. I'd like to try the beef flautas next time. The service was quick - 4% discount for cash. Food came out when the cashier said it would (10-15 mins). Great place for tripe tacos.

Yelp
Amazing Tacos went on taco Tuesday and just a cozy little spot to get good food made fresh! And the service was amazing too such a nice cook!!
google avatar

Yelp
A little HITW in east dallas in the heart of taco land. Plenty of competition but this one really stands apart from the others I will def be back. The ladies wor were really nice and attentive. Look up the story behind the place, charming story.

Yelp
Mami coco is an outstanding family run joint with some of the best tacos in the city, generously stuffed, flavorful, and immensely satisfying. BYOB is a bonus, along with socializing with neighboring tables. I especially enjoy the cabeza and lengua offererings, just outstanding.

Laquittie C.

Yelp
It doesn't taste the same , not sure if it's because each time I go the owner not there because when he's there the food is excellent!!!! The Taco's have literally fell off meaning bad!! Meat not seasoned the portion of the food and toppings not worth it I know that they can definitely do better

Annie Yang Y.

Yelp
Had tacos for lunch. They were alright. The beef was a bit tough and lacked flavor. The guacamole was good, but the overall experience was just average. Might try something else next time.
google avatar

Angela T.

Yelp
Tacos tasted amazing and quesadillas were great! Good size. Arrived late at night and tacos were made at an efficient time. It's a very small place inside and you can tell it's been around for a long time. There is seating for you to eat inside and outside but more space outside to sit.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE! Note: This establishment does not exist to impress you... it is here to feed you. And the food is delicious! Who knew? The smallest burritos in America just happen to be the best burritos I've had in DFW. Both of Mami Coco's locations are conveniently close to the surrounding Downtown Dallas area. The restaurants are tiny but the food is packed full of OUTSTANDING FLAVOR AND QUALITY. My new favorite for Authentic Mexican Food... Mami Coco! If you are into Tex Mex or hoping for some some cool hipster spot - go elsewhere. Mami Coco... stay as you are. Don't change!
google avatar

Karla B.

Yelp
Enchiladas were yummy. Idk about the tacos. Husband thought they lacked flavor. Limited seating inside. Questionable parking out front. We happened to be in area, just looking for a quick lunch stop.
google avatar

Juls P.

Yelp
I drove by this restaurant twice a day taking and picking up my boys to school and never thought it would be such a gem. One day one of my boys decided to look it up and we came across an overwhelming amount of good reviews. Me and my hubby decided to try it out our next date night. I got the beef flautas and he got 5 fajita tacos and One fajita sope. I also got the arroz con leche for dessert. The food was SOOO GOOD. My plate came with 3 large flautas and lots of toppings including cucumber which was the perfect touch. I cleaned my plate up and I rarely do that. The service was great as well and I couldn't help to notice that everyone sitting near us was also commenting on how good their food was.
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
Amazing food!!!!! Came from Oklahoma to get real Mexican food. The carne asada tacos are the best
google avatar

Paulo Cesar A.

Yelp
A small little place right on the corner the flautas is a must try really good Los tacos de chicharrón prensado two wasn't enough. Fresh food , good home cooking
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Literally, the best tacos I've ever had. The pork with the avocado and a little bit of salsa was (chef's kiss). Either take it to go or don't mind waiting for a spot to sit. Everything came out quick and fresh.
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
This might be the one! I've been looking for decent tacos in DFW and my gosh these were good! Packed with meat and seasoned well. The sauce was a perfect addition. Then on top of that the service was nice and friendly! I had an assortment of street tacos on corn tortillas. I would pass on the Barbacoa next time as that was my least favorite meat out of the ones I got. The other meats (chicken, pork, steak) were on point! Prices per taco were fair for what you get. I can't wait to go back!

Victoria G.

Yelp
We will NOT be coming back here again. We visited this place after seeing it on TikTok and reading the reviews. However, we were severely disappointed. We waited 40 minutes for our order of 5 tacos and 1 quesadilla. Despite, continually asking the name on our order, no one actually looked into the status of our food until we went back in ourselves. There is extremely limited seating. Moreover, the small amount of tables and chairs that are available are all falling to pieces. After finally receiving our food, we were disappointed by the small meat portion. There was more cilantro and onion on our tacos than meat. Overall a disappointing experience.
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
This place it top tip top notch. You have to come here if you are in the. Simple spot with delicious food.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
This taco shop was absolutely delicious. It may have even taken over my favorite spot that was across the street. And they're open on Sundays if you're in the area! This is a no frills place. You walk in, order what you desire, and wait for your food. But what makes this place better than the others? - The tortillas: I don't know if they make them in house but they were super soft and crisp at the same time WITHOUT being greasy. Didn't realize that was possible but I did not leave feeling disgusting. I believe the corn tortilla tacos were ~1.99 while the flour tacos were ~3.49 - The meats: Each of the meats were spot on, with the first two beef and the lengua my personal favorites Note: It does come with a couple of hot sauces on the side, the green one being more mild and the orange one fiery hot. The staff was nice and there are a few tables outside to sit at, so keep that in mind. Cash only.
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
Oh this was so good. And I was lucky to find parking because it is a smaller parking lot, the inside is small but the food is so good worth the wait if you have the time give them a try. Will definitely be going back But if you are coming from far away I suggest staying and enjoying your foot while it's hot and delicious. You can even order ahead
google avatar

Aqsa T.

Yelp
Awesome food, friendly staff, wholesome ambiance. It's near impossible to eat inside so definitely try to go on a day you're willing to eat outside. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. The tacos and enchiladas were amazing and authentic. Everything was packed with flavor. Their red sauce is pretty spicy but not too overbearing and their verde is perfect. There was absolutely nothing I would complain about - definitely check this place
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
Wanted a place that wasn't a chain and some really good tacos, sure did find that spot. The taco Tuesday special with chicken was amazing, and whatever sauces were provided were delicious.
google avatar

Ariana S.

Yelp
Came here late at night because I saw the good reviews. Got the enchiladas and they were delicious!!! They are exactly how my mom makes them!!!! The taste took me home!!! My bf got a barbacoa quesadilla and some tacos and he really liked them too! Highly recommend this place.. it's kind of small tho.. but they have some space to sit outside. Service was outstanding as well!
google avatar

Alexandria C.

Yelp
The food is okay. I ordered 3 plates but they charged me for 4 be mindful and check when you put in pickup orders

John T.

Yelp
We ordered the tacos, flautas, and quesadillas. All three were outstanding and left us wanting more. We marked this spot down for a return visit in the next few days.
google avatar

Mikhael W.

Yelp
Let me tell y'all something. This spot might not look like much on the outside. It might not be located in the "safest part of town". If you blink, while driving by, you just might miss it... The employees might not be "into" friendly conversation... But good golly, miss Molly, they have some super tasty concoctions! The meat....IT'S THE MEAT! BISTEC! Flavorful, tender, yaaasssss! I don't believe sopes are for me, so I'll definitely try the tacos next time. Everything is cooked to order...limited menu...what's better than fresh food?! I'll wait....

Mia J.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! The people were so kind. def a hidden gem in Dallas Flautas tasted so authentic like our mom made growing up. Tacos were delicious.
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
Really good flavor! Cheap too. It's bout 30 mins away from me otherwise I'd be here a lot more often
google avatar

Rhonda S.

Yelp
Don't let the smallness or the lack of ambiance inside to deter you! I received a friendly welcome and suggestions as a first timer! There are only about 8 barstools inside but a patio with 5 or 6 tables outside. I got my order to-go in about 10 min. Quesadillas with chicken were hot, very flavorful with fresh ingredients, and filling! There were two different salsas included, but the meal did not need the accompaniment "Three pieces" means 3 full flour tortillas! I could only eat two before I was stuffed! When asked, I added avocado which was a good move! This was a terrific stop after a doc visit very near Big Baylor in downtown Dallas. When back in this area, I will try more offerings! Good Mexican food at an economical $14 is my kind of lunch!
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Great food definitely will be visiting again soon maybe for the taco Tuesday special the staff was friendly and the food was delicious
google avatar

Shaheen E.

Yelp
Thought I'd try some mexican food tonight before my hospital shift. I was very impressed with Mami Coco. I had chicken flautas, a fajita con bistec burrito, and a prensado taco. The taco was delicious, and the pork cooked and seasoned perfectly. With their green and red spicy salsa, it was incredible. This was the highlight for me. Fajita con Bistec burrito was also delicious. Juicy. I added the salsas to this too. GOOD STUFF. The cashier and cooks were all very friendly (spanish-speaking primarily but a young man spoke english and took my order). The cook is clearly a very seasoned cook, and i can tell anything i ordered would have been excellent. They have nice outdoor seating which I recommend. I sat inside along the wall, and while the countertops were a little dirty, it was just the vibe I was looking for. If you want authentic mexican tacos, flautas, burritos, and more, this is the place.
