Best Tacos in Dallas and Fort Worth | Eater Dallas

"It’s hard to believe that when this spot opened, it didn’t even sell tacos. Now, it’s known for them. The tacos feature corn and flour tortillas made fresh daily, and an order of the tacos tripa y lengua is a must — yes, even if tripe and tongue are kind of scary. Both its Dallas locations are the typical taqueria, with very little seating inside and some tables out front." - Courtney E. Smith

Gustavo De Los Ríos’s taquería radiates warmth: crisp flautas from his mother’s recipe, res or pollo tacos, and sopes that draw steady crowds. Lauded by D Magazine and locals alike for value, hospitality, and soulful cooking.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mami Coco is hands down one of my favorite spots in Dallas for real, hearty Mexican food. The tacos are absolutely delicious tacos fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Their flautas and sopes are standout dishes, too. The vibe is super warm and welcoming: it feels like you’re eating in a friend’s kitchen rather than a restaurant. Service is friendly and quick, and the prices are fair for such high-quality food. Whether you’re coming for brunch or dinner, this place delivers authentic flavors every time. Highly recommend!

Google
Insanely good! Prepare to sit outside or take to go— but everything we had was awesome. The salsa verde was great and the sopas were killer. Price is a little high for the ambiance and the portion sizes but the food was great and we’ll be back.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to find a place that reminds me of the street tacos I grew up with back in CA. I’m not much of a Tex-Mex person, so it’s been a little far and few in between since we’ve lived in TX where we’ve been able to find actual street tacos that we actually liked. This place did not disappoint! Thanks to the power of social media, this was a high recommended place and the best part… we didn’t have to wait until noon to enjoy tacos! Although their hours said 10am, be prepared to wait a little while because it doesn’t seem like they were quite prepared at 10am. I had placed an online order and it said it would be ready for pick up by 10:30, and unfortunately we didn’t get our food until close to 11. Nonetheless, the food made up for it. We an order of the Chicken Flautas which were delicious! It’s loaded with fresh veggies and their salsa paired perfectly with it. Then of course got the street tacos (Cabeza, Pastor, Mix Fajita & Bistek, and Tripas y Lengua). All were amazing! They did not skimp on the meat, and I love that we didn’t have to request for fresh onions & cilantro like we’ve had to do in the past. Meats Ranked from Best to Least: 1. Tripas y Lengua 2. Cabeza 3. Pastor 4. Fajita & Bistek Regardless of their rank, we will most definitely be back for more delicious tacos!

This restaurant is small but the food is delicious and fresh. The staff is very friendly. I will come back when I am nearby.

Google
I’m honestly so frustrated and disappointed right now. As a fan of this place, I usually go to their second location in Dallas, which has always been fantastic. Today, I was excited to visit the Samuel location since it’s closer to home, but wow, what a letdown! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lady who clearly didn’t want to be there. It felt like I was doing her a favor by ordering! I specifically requested everything on the side because my husband is a picky eater, but what I got was a jumbled mess with everything smeared together. The food didn’t taste fresh at all, which is completely unacceptable for a place I’ve loved in the past. To top it all off, I was charged for an arroz con leche that was never even added to my order! Needless to say, I’m done with this location. I’ll be sticking with the Dallas spot from now on, where I’ve always had a great experience. What a disappointment!

Google
1000/10 tacos! Tripas, cabeza, al pastor, and carne asada — all cooked perfectly with lightly fried tortillas, fresh onions and cilantro, and incredible salsas I’d buy by the container. Friendly staff, quick service, and an ice-cold Mexican Coke made it perfect. Seating and location aren’t the best, but the food is absolutely worth the stop.

Google
Mami Coco is a hidden gem that delivers big flavor in a cozy, authentic setting. From the moment you walk up to the colorful mural and the inviting patio with bright orange chairs, you know you're in for something special. The tacos are incredible — fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down with friends, the food and atmosphere make this a top-tier taco spot. The staff is friendly, the prices are great, and the "antojitos" (little cravings) truly hit the spot. If you're anywhere near Dallas and craving real Mexican street-style tacos, do yourself a favor and hit up Mami Coco. You won't regret it! 🌮🌶️💃🇲🇽

Yelp
I was in Dallas for a wedding and my GF asked where I wanted to eat and my first request was authentic Mexican street tacos. This is the place she found and it was spot on. I did three corn tortilla street tacos. I went with two shredded beef and one chorizo. Everything was so flavorful the people were nice it was an all around great experience. Also got a side of refried beans that were good. The inside was just a skinny walk in with a kind of stand of shelf you could lean on to eat with a few seats, but they had plenty covered seating outside. If I ever find myself in Dallas again I'll be right back here.

Yelp
Before heading to Dallas I was searching for a small hole in the wall authentic taco place to visit and stumbled across this restaurant. I'm glad I found it because the food was great! We ordered at the counter and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. I got a barbacoa and a carnitas taco on corn tortillas. It came with a delightful green salsa that they said was mild but it had a kick. The tortillas were so flavorful and the meats were delicious. I devoured the tacos and we also got a side of refried beans to share that were the best refried beans I've ever had. There are only 3 stools inside, but there are a few tables outside for seating. I wish we had more time to go back for some more tacos.

Yelp
Truthfully, I'm only giving this 4 stars because I actually haven't been to the restaurant. I'll save the last star for my visit. But, I've ordered their food once. And it was so good it became a weekly staple. I mean it when I say they are the best quesadilla I've found in Dallas. I've spent plenty of time in Mexico and near the border. I've had authentic food. This is just as good if not better. If you're looking for clean eating, this ain't it. But you want your tongue to have a party with every bite, then you found your friends in this food. Highly recommend the prensado on a taco, burrito, or quesadilla

Yelp
I went to Dallas to visit a friend and whilst on the plane, I scoured the internet for the best tacos Dallas has to offer. I found this place and was pleasantly surprised to see that they've won a multitude of awards for their cuisine. Now mind you, it's a hole in the wall. Super tiny. But that doesn't matter at all. Everything is made fresh to order and everything I tried was AMAZING. I went 3x while I was there and tried their chicken tacos, chicken quesadillas, chicken burritos, and barbacoa tacos. The ingredients were all fresh and I was so happy that the chicken was packed with flavor. Now, I'm not really a red meat eater. I asked the staff if they have a a specific meat that is most popular and they recommended the barbacoa. I ordered those tacos and was sooooo glad I did. The barbacoa meat was so tender and delicious. I wish I could go back for more. This will forever more be my go to taco spot whenever I visit Dallas. The awards and recognition they have received are well deserved! And a big thank you to the staff (including Gustavo the manager) for their kindness, patience, and hard work.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday here is a must! It's such a cute place with limited indoor seating, but tons of outdoor. The food is fresh, the staff are friendly, and it's a great deal for street style tacos!
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere in here was friendly & cozy. The food was amazing. The employees here were super sweet, I would come back & recommend this place to anyone looking for some good tacos! (Ps. The orange salsa... chefs kiss)

Glenda D.

Yelp
Delicious food! Service excellent! And taste of music very well! Me quedo con las ganas de regresar a Dallas to try more food!

Yelp
So glad I finally made the drive over here! I got the lengua and the barbacoa on corn. I was so impressed with how tender all of the meat was, and the tacos were pretty filling for street tacos. The salsas were spicy and flavorful as well! Our cashier was very kind and helpful. Our food took a bit longer to come out than I was expecting but I think a big order was placed just before I got there. There are only three seats inside the very small restaurant but they have lots more semi-covered outdoor seating that is fine once the weather cools down a bit. I will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Hole in the wall Mexican place with some of the best food. It has an authentic feel to it that is great. I always get the enchiladas because they are so good it is hard to try anything else.

Yelp
Was in the area and decided to try out Mami Coco. It's small little spot with seating outside, prices range from $1.99-$3.50 depending if you want corn or flour. Ordered the tripas and asada, they were pretty tasty topped with cilantro and onion. The hot sauces they came with were definitely spicy.

Yelp
Food and service were great. Definitely the closest to the tacos back home in CA! Been so disappointed with taco spots out here and this place sure hit the spot! Had the lengua, al pastor and chorizo street tacos! Chorizo tasted exactly what it is so no complaints and the other 2 meats are the type of meats that not many places can make those good out here but this place surprised me! The core definition of a hole in the wall type of spot but that's how you know it's legit! The first thing that caught my eye! You'll see complaints of seating and how it may take a little bit to get the food but it's worth it! Some people aren't patient and don't appreciate hard work.

Yelp
I came here on a Saurday that seemed less busy than I have read in other reviews. It took a while for the food to come out, and my customer service kept being interrupted by people that were coming in and out of the doors. As far as the food, I got simple chicken street tacos, and I didn't really taste any flavor from the meats. Maybe its what I got idk, but the prices were decent so I am not too pressed about it. My overall experience was meh.
google avatar

Yelp
Hole in the wall... the wall actually says "top 10 taquerias in the U.S.!!" Small parking lot. Decent amount of people here on a weekend night. Seating inside is pretty minimal. It's against the wall, which is pretty close to the register. Seating outside is the best bet. Variety of stuff: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, flautas, sopes. Tripe and lenuga are extra: $2.99 on tacos. Got the burritos, which comes in 3 small ones instead of a big one. Haven't seen this before. I think you can get a different meat in each one, but it wasn't clear to me and ended up getting barbacoa in all of them. Whoops. About $10 after tax.. $8.99 currently. It was good. Filling enough. My friend wasn't full though after their 3 burritos... I would recommend stopping by in the area. Not sure on the top 10 title though...
google avatar

Yelp
Came in for a bite to eat. It is a cute place. The outside has a cute mural on the outside. They only have outside seating but it is covered. You can only order inside and they have a few chairs to wait for your food. The food is yummy and filled up. Really good place to stop and eat. We had sopes, street tacos, and sweet empanadas. The container said fresa but they were really piña, but they were still very good.
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
Not sure what the fuss is about. The tacos, quesadillas, and burritos were just meh (the salsa was pretty good). And the fact that the bathroom wasn't accessible because they didnt have water yet they were still operating worries me a bit...
google avatar

Lizbeth C.

Yelp
Don't go there late night ‍ this location was lonely and could only see the cook's. No one there to greet you. Lady came out with food and don't even say a peep. Food was ok. I must definitely try the other location everyone raves about.
google avatar

Julisa P.

Yelp
Small quaint location located by a station. The inside is quite small with just three seats in a bar style sitting. The outside does have a small gazebo with benches. We ate in the car. Down to the food... it is amazing. Authentic style food. The kitchen is open so you can see them preparing your food. Red sauce is very spicy, green sauce is more subtle with spice. Will definitely be returning
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It doesn't look particularly clean or inviting, and there's very limited seating inside. We arrived late as they were cleaning up, and I honestly hesitated to order. But I decided to try the quesadillas and was pleasantly surprised. I expected one, but received three small-to-medium quesadillas, full of flavor and served piping hot. They were absolutely delicious. First impressions weren't great, but the food delivered.
google avatar

Garrett E.

Yelp
5/5. Amazing tacos, no notes. Our favorites were the chicharron & Al Pastor. The staff was super friendly as well. Go support them!

Whitley C.

Yelp
This places used to be my go-to but the last several times I've come the pork tacos have changed into this new greasy crunchy formula... almost fried. I'm not sure but it isn't good. They used to be delicious. I did notice a new cook the last time I came. It's really hit or miss depending on who is on the grill. I also called ahead to order and I was told it would be 20 mins. When I arrived, after 20 mins, I was told it would be another 15 mins. After that I waited another 10 minutes. 45 mins for carry-out tacos is crazy, but at least give me realistic time when I call in so I can manage my expectations. I'll be looking for a new go-to taco spot

Danny G.

Yelp
Decided to try there tacos since I've heard a lot of good things about them but unfortunately in my opinion they are just average... small and very little meat .. the tripitas had an odd taste to them.. I might have gone on a bad day but there are better tacos spots around the area .. disappointed :(
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Mami Coco is fire. Reminded me how there's amazing tacos in Dallas. You need to come here. Mami Coco had treated us with kindness and was comforting to meet the owners. Service was great. The place is small but if you come on a chill day it'll be easy to find parking. The taste of the tacos was amazing. I got the bistec fajita street taco with corn. Only $1.99 a taco.
google avatar

Lydia M.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! I discovered it one day and had to go in and check it out. The tacos are so good and it's so cute and the people working there are always so nice! I hope Saul is still there, cause he remembers you b

Daij S.

Yelp
My friend and I are in Dallas and we were in search of some late night tacos. This place is amazing! The service was great and the cashier was so sweet and nice to us. She even gave us good recommendations. The tacos were great and extremely flavorful, they also came out quickly. The shop is cute and clean -- definitely a great place to grab a quick bite.
google avatar

Brandon E.

Yelp
They didn't accept the free flautas coupon from their website but that's okay because the tacos were good. However the tacos were expensive at almost $3 each one and their whole dining area is just 4 wooden tables outside, their kitchen and order area is the same thing so 2 out if 5 stars.

Aileen G.

Yelp
Super delicious! The service was very good attentive. I would definitely recommend the enchiladas if you love, queso fresco, and sour cream. The green salsa was not too spicy, and definitely had a lot of flavor. If you're looking for a place to get some quick delicious food, I would definitely stop by!!!
google avatar

Pat G.

Yelp
Not very clean environment. Customer service was lacking. Only reason I came here was from a YouTube channel from years ago.
google avatar

Jonathan

Yelp
Authentic and delicious Mexican street food (e.g., tacos, flautus, and enchiladas) for an affordable price.
google avatar

Kel M.

Yelp
Food was out hot and ready 5 minutes after ordering. The tacos were both flavorful and the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The salsa verde paired with the lime gave the tacos a very nice flavor. Drove an hour to try them and would definitely again!
google avatar

AJ B.

Yelp
I was in Dallas for the day and decided to try a place that was on my saved collection that I haven't tried before. Mami Coco was high on that list and very close in distance so I knew I had to try these tacos! This quaint restaurant is located near a convenient store and has a lovely outdoor seating area. While the inside is a tight squeeze, the beautifully decorated walls are welcoming and enticing. There are plenty of options on the menu including burritos, quesadillas, and even desserts! I was helped almost immediately when I arrived. I decided to get the standard carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro. They came with two green sauces and one orange/red. The tacos were authentically scrumptious! The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. No gristle, fat, or inedible bites. You can taste the love in the food. There were so many take out orders while I was waiting for my food. You can't tell this place is popular and well loved. I will definitely return to enjoy these tacos again and try the many other items on the menu!
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Hella authentic spot with a mom and pop feel. Food was really good too. You won't be disappointed ! Pro tip: the inside space is super limited so if you don't want to sit on the patio order take out!
google avatar

Arianny R.

Yelp
Love coming here for the taco special on Tuesdays. Tasty food, chill vibes, and friendly service.

Donna

Yelp
The food tastes good but it's exactly the same. I've tried the Tacos, Burritos, and quesadillas no distinct difference. This time I got soggy "burritos" and soggy hand rolled "quesadillas"? Cheese was undetectable with very little meat and beans. I bought the food back. The morbidly obese guy that took my order asked if I watched the video of the food being prepared on the monitor in the store. I should've left the food and did a charge back. My granddaughter enjoyed her soggy, rolled, greasy quesadilla.

Manuel A.

Yelp
Best flautas !! ( crunchy shredded beef or chicken tacos ) They serve with a really good salad on top. And their orange salsa although really hot is the best Try them you can go wrong

Jordan J.

Yelp
Best flautas and street tacos ever!! Makes you feel like you're on vacay in Mexico! Definitely check out this place if you're wanting authentic Mexican food!
google avatar

tina t.

Yelp
Such a great find! Just good food with no fuss. The tacos , while small ...they're just perfect little bites. The burritos were so flavorful. Didn't try the sopas this time but , will be a reason to come back!

jor g.

Yelp
Great tacos but not what social media makes it out to be I'd say 8/10 The red sauce was the best thing in my opinion
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE! Note: This establishment does not exist to impress you... it is here to feed you. And the food is delicious! Who knew? The smallest burritos in America just happen to be the best burritos I've had in DFW. Both of Mami Coco's locations are conveniently close to the surrounding Downtown Dallas area. The restaurants are tiny but the food is packed full of OUTSTANDING FLAVOR AND QUALITY. My new favorite for Authentic Mexican Food... Mami Coco! If you are into Tex Mex or hoping for some some cool hipster spot - go elsewhere. Mami Coco... stay as you are. Don't change!
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall just off of the street next to a convenience store. Really good tripe tacos! We got it crispy and it was perfect. I'd like to try the beef flautas next time. The service was quick - 4% discount for cash. Food came out when the cashier said it would (10-15 mins). Great place for tripe tacos.
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
This might be the one! I've been looking for decent tacos in DFW and my gosh these were good! Packed with meat and seasoned well. The sauce was a perfect addition. Then on top of that the service was nice and friendly! I had an assortment of street tacos on corn tortillas. I would pass on the Barbacoa next time as that was my least favorite meat out of the ones I got. The other meats (chicken, pork, steak) were on point! Prices per taco were fair for what you get. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Rayush S.

Yelp
Amazing Tacos went on taco Tuesday and just a cozy little spot to get good food made fresh! And the service was amazing too such a nice cook!!
google avatar

Bob Z.

Yelp
A little HITW in east dallas in the heart of taco land. Plenty of competition but this one really stands apart from the others I will def be back. The ladies wor were really nice and attentive. Look up the story behind the place, charming story.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
This taco shop was absolutely delicious. It may have even taken over my favorite spot that was across the street. And they're open on Sundays if you're in the area! This is a no frills place. You walk in, order what you desire, and wait for your food. But what makes this place better than the others? - The tortillas: I don't know if they make them in house but they were super soft and crisp at the same time WITHOUT being greasy. Didn't realize that was possible but I did not leave feeling disgusting. I believe the corn tortilla tacos were ~1.99 while the flour tacos were ~3.49 - The meats: Each of the meats were spot on, with the first two beef and the lengua my personal favorites Note: It does come with a couple of hot sauces on the side, the green one being more mild and the orange one fiery hot. The staff was nice and there are a few tables outside to sit at, so keep that in mind. Cash only.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Mami coco is an outstanding family run joint with some of the best tacos in the city, generously stuffed, flavorful, and immensely satisfying. BYOB is a bonus, along with socializing with neighboring tables. I especially enjoy the cabeza and lengua offererings, just outstanding.
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
Oh this was so good. And I was lucky to find parking because it is a smaller parking lot, the inside is small but the food is so good worth the wait if you have the time give them a try. Will definitely be going back But if you are coming from far away I suggest staying and enjoying your foot while it's hot and delicious. You can even order ahead
google avatar

Aqsa T.

Yelp
Awesome food, friendly staff, wholesome ambiance. It's near impossible to eat inside so definitely try to go on a day you're willing to eat outside. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. The tacos and enchiladas were amazing and authentic. Everything was packed with flavor. Their red sauce is pretty spicy but not too overbearing and their verde is perfect. There was absolutely nothing I would complain about - definitely check this place
google avatar

Erica E.

Yelp
Food was okay. Not Cali street tacos. No pastor or asada... service was nice but only 1 chef. This place is small a corner store with outdoor seating. Lost my appetite with the flies and trash all around. The Barbacoa lacked flavor. Salsa verde was good
google avatar

Tiarelei W.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp a year ago in my search for good Tacos. I've stop trying new places since I CANT GET ENOUGH OF MAMI COCO! It's a hole in the wall with some BOMB ass Mexican food. You know it's authentic when they barely speak English! The best part, the food is CONSISTENT. My GF's and I go to are: -Tripa Tacos (corn) -Desebarda flautas -Chicharron Prensado Sopes Come enjoy some yummy food with a nice Mexican Coke to wash it all down. Only thing to improve is be open 24/7.
