Love the monkey bread. This is best when heated up for about 20 secs. Today, grabbed a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast. Heard might be one of the best in the area. TBH It was very good. I actually done without the onion sauce that was added. It took away from the simple ingredients that were in the name. That did not take away from the food at Manteca. Everything here is delicious

I’ve been coming to Manresa Bakery in Palo Alto on and off over the years, and unfortunately, it’s been a steady decline. Frequent management changes have left the shop feeling disorganized, and the staff seems to lack knowledge about the menu—especially when it comes to items they used to offer. Their marketing feels more like gimmicks than substance, and frankly, it’s no different than going to any other coffee shop in the area. The space itself feels chaotic and lacks the charm you’d expect from a Manresa brand location. On the bright side, the coffee is still good, but if you’re looking for the real Manresa experience, the Los Altos location is far superior. Save yourself the trip and head there instead.

I come here often, to pick up loaves of bread for home, or to sit with my daughter (9 months at the time of writing) so she can taste a pastry or two. The selection of bread and pastries is small, but really really good. I challenge you to find better breads, in particular. If I’m having guests over and want to serve them the best, I know I have to stop here. The coffee is from Verve and the baristas are consistent. I enjoy my cortado each time I order it. The servers know us (well, they know my daughter) and treat us like neighbors. It is a welcome feeling.

Pastries were freshly baked. I got a baguette which was fresh and toasty. Also ordered a Cafe au lait. Since I saw they were using Verve beans, was expecting a better coffee than what I got. It was very light and not really for a coffee lover. may be next time I would try the Capuccino. Prices for coffee are much better than any other chain coffee shops nowadays.

This review is primarily for their babka. It is not your typical chocolate babka. It reminds me of if I took my lean sourdough (i usually use Chad Robertsons Tartine recipe)and added loads of butter and chocolate and shaped it like a babka. While we don't like the overly sweet sugary commercial babka that is more cakelike, we also don't enjoy savory bread dough with sweet either, which is Manresa's rendition. Ironically, they didn't skimp on the fat content on this rather dry babka, as a bite leaves a waxy coating on your lips. If you warm it up, (trying not to let food go to waste, we stuck some slices in the oven at 350F for 5 min, still hated it) it behaves like a warmed up bad croissant, with oozing puddles of oil, and flaky crust. We have found that their strong suit is their sourdough breads, but their baguettes also taste like I am eating a sourdough boule. Croissants also taste very hearty like a sourdough boule, a texture we don't like in our viennoiserie. Now we find the same thing with their babka. As someone who makes separate doughs for baguette, babka (although I use Maggie Glazer's challah dough to make both challah and babka), etc. we find this disappointing. We have found many bakeries in the peninsula use one type of dough shaped differently, with some flavor add ins, and call it by many names that it is not. If you want to give Manresa's chocolate babka a try, do check your bag, as we found the sharp cardboard teeth had torn holes in the plastic. There is a dessicant dricard on the underside of the loaf. The first third of our loaf sliced clean, but then it started to fall apart like a croissant loaf. While more spacious than the Los Altos location, this Palo Alto location also does not have indoor seating. They do seem to have a more extensive food menu which we didn't try, because we are hobbits who like to be warm, and sit comfortably indoors when spending $40+ for breakfast. Outdoor seating is available. Staff is nice, no complaints there. Good to know for those who absolutely want something, there are no guarantees. We emailed regarding the panettone & babka, and were told 'a few' would be in-store daily. We stepped inside the PA store at not quite 8:30 am, and were told no panettone had been sent. But lots of babka was available so we got one. Online it said at Los Altos location babka was not available, but panettone was available. We raced to Los Altos, where same story, zero panettone had been sent to the store. We saw mountains of of babka, though could have been they were all for preorder?

The chocolate chip cookie is great! We tried the hazelnut butter cake and it's so good that it melts in the mouth. They've other things like granola, verve coffee in the store. I liked their mocha latte, it's not too sweet unlike the mochas in many other cafes. Highly recommend if you're a pastry fan!

Had been visiting the different locations for a while now. suddenly today I had to pay almost $9 for a latte with oat milk and simple syrup!!!! Prices have skyrocketed like crazy… and it feels cheap to actually almost punish lactose intolerant people!

I was down in Palo Alto for the art festival today. A quick jaunt to Town & Country Village brought me to Manresa Bread. I tried the natural kougin amann. Yum! It was light and sugary. A little coating on sugar on the base and edges of the pastry gave it a crunch…and a whole lot of stickiness. Mid afternoon there was some pastries and savory items. But the I got one of the two most popular items. For my taste, I prefer B Patisserie’s kougin amann. There are more flavors and juicy fruits especially when they offer Asian flavors (!). Outdoor seating (in the front sidewalk under an awning) can be difficult to get as there are only 6 tables.

Yelp
Palo Alto Manresa is a step below the LG and Campbell locations. The staff is a bit disorganized and even the online order was delayed at least 5 minutes. There's no indoor seating but a few tables outside. The matcha latte was pretty good. They put in a decent amount of matcha powder and it wasn't overly sweet. The turkey sandwich was decent. They put in a good amount of turkey but they also had a lot of cheese and mayo making it a bit greasy. The bread was toasted but coated with that oil. The whole experience was good but not as exceptional as you'd expect from Manresa.

Yelp
This review is for their breakfast egg bacon and cheese sandwich. It was $13 which is definitely on the pricier end for breakfast sandwiches. The sandwich was on the larger side though. I thought the bread was okay. The contents of the sandwich weren't very good though. They give you a lot of bacon but the bacon was incredibly salty even by itself so having like five slices of bacon made it inedible. I did take a few slices out and was hoping to enjoy them by themselves but found them too salty. I love bacon and it's weird that it was that salty. The bacon itself was also a little on the thicker side, a little crispy but not as crispy as I would have like. The egg was basically an egg custard block which I really didn't want in my sandwich. It has that weird smooth consistency that I didn't like. I was getting nauseous the more I ate it. I was hoping for a fried egg or even a block of scrambled eggs would have been fine. The bacon jam was okay. Towards the end I was forcing myself to eat the sandwich. Also they charge one of those extra 4% Living Wage fees on your receipt.

Yelp
I came here when they first opened. The Cheese Croissant (special of the day) was exceptionally good. Supremely buttery without feeling greasy... Extraordinary big in size. I didn't know at that time that they were owned by the closed Michelin star restaurant and was surprised by the quality. I heard that Arsicault also wanted this spot. It is said that Arsicault's owner humbly said that he didn't get this spot because he probably was not good enough. Honestly, I have no idea how this bustling T&C could possibly support the traffic that his business brings. Since then, I tried Manresa's Los Altos location and it was bad. The Monkey Bread and Kouign Amann were both dry and ordinary. I thought that it was because they don't bake there in-house. So I came here again. Somehow they don't have the special Cheese Croissant. Everything is extraordinarily small and a bit stale. The Pain Au Chocolat was the only thing that looked decent, so that is what I purchased. I felt like I got bait-and-switch because they gave me not the one I pointed at in the counter, but a dried-crumbly one at the back. It tastes, dry, ordinary, and a bit greasy. Having had so many setbacks, this bakery has me spent and gone.

Belinda C.

Yelp
This is only for the Kouign Amann. I got here a little late on a weekend and some of their items were sold out. Luckily I was able to grab one for their Kouign Amann that I heard so much about. This lived up to its hype. It's flaky with the perfect amount of almond paste for each bite. After eating one I wanted another one, and I'm still living in regret that I only bought one. I shall return again and try other items.

Yelp
Manresa Bread is considered a Bay Area staple in the bakery category. Some would say that Manresa sets the standard for baked goods and that is surely confirmed by the layers and quality in its craftsmanship. Interior of this location is bright, spacious with no interior seating. This is more of a grab and go style bakery. There is a small selection of coffee drinks, merchandise for purchase, coffee bean bags, and of course a variety of baked goods. They offer cookies, croissants, loaves, sandwiches, and so much more. The prices are on the higher end but the quality reflects their pricing. Croissant- this is a staple here at Manresa that never disappoints. The lamination process has clearly been perfected because the cross sections show a perfectly fluffy and airy interior with so many layers. The result is a light croissant with a soft buttery flavor profile. Any of their croissant-based pastries are sure to be a winner. Monkey bread- This was delicious and definitely tastes best the same day. the bread is a bit tough on the outside but the inside is soft and spongy with a nice caramelized toffee flavor. Service was nice and friendly. Although, one thing that can be improved is they have an enclosed bakery display since there were a lot of flies inside the store since the weather was quite warm and the staff aren't wearing masks. An enclosed bakery shelf would be a good idea for hygienic reasons. This plaza gets crowded especially during peak lunch and dinner hours so plan accordingly. Manresa is a great stop if you're looking for a snack or a sweet treat to cap off your night.

Yelp
I stopped here to pick up a loaf of levain bread to make fancy schmancy grilled cheeses for a fancy schmancy lunch party. What I like about Manresa Bread is that they have a slicer. If you want perfectly sliced bread to make sandwiches, they have pre-sliced versions of all their bread. Their sliced bread is definitely better than those from grocery stores, but I do wish the crust was a little thicker (1 star off). Unlike some who do not like the crust of breads, I like a nice thick crust that crumbles when you bite into it...especially for a grilled cheese.

Tanisha M.

Yelp
First time trying a kouign amann and I was very impressed! It wasn't overly sweet which I liked. It was super flaky and crispy and all the layers together tasted so good. The employees were very nice as well! Definitely want to come back and try more of their pastries.

john j.

Yelp
A great little bakery with some delicious sweet treats. They also have sandwiches and drinks for lunch as well.

Yelp
This is the first location/visit I have been to. We came by Thursday morning. It was not busy inside but outside seating was full. The manager was very nice and accommodating. The staff was very friendly. The croissants are wonderful. One of the best I have had. The flavor was awesome. Tried the vegan chocolate banana bread as well. I liked it a lot and it satisfied my craving for a chocolate chip banana muffin. Staff and manager we both cleaning and stocking so it was clean. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Manresa Bread offers high quality, delicious baked goods in Town and Country in Palo Alto (you will not see it from El Camino Real, but it is near the Trader Joe's). During previous visits I've tried some of their breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee (which I believe is from Verve), and everything is always high quality and delicious! The service is always fast, and they only take cashless payment, so make sure to bring your card/Apple Pay/etc. The location is also pretty small, with no tables inside, but a few tables outside. I'd recommend taking your items to go, because of the limited space. I love the assortment of other items they sell too, like cookbooks, branded merchandise, Fishwife products, Brightland olive oil, and more. I love buying my bread from here and will be back!

Robert K.

Yelp
Bread is pretty good but the mandatory extra fees, above and beyond the item price is just gross!! just include salaries in the price of the item like any other business - you don't see Costco adding an extra % to "pay a living wage". I would buy from them every time I go to Trader Joe's except for this issue. Instead I'll go to the Midwife and the Baker (https://www.themidwifeandthebaker.com) - no extra fees and better bread!

Lisa H.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I first tried this place so decided to revisit it again because I know they have Verve coffee which I do enjoy. They do a pretty good job on a oat milk capp but yikes $1.50 to add a bit of this to a capp is over the top expensive - most higher end places is somewhere between 50 cents to a buck max. Sigh I'm going to have to bring my own oat milk lol if I want a coffee fix here unless they change things - hard to swallow that mark-up for such a teeny amount. The monkey bread is really yum here - so do try that. The quiche slices look quite impressive but I haven't tried one yet - keep forgetting since they are to the far left and I only see it after I pay and wait for my coffee and move over to the left side of the store. Some signage at the register might help bring attention to them?

Lloyd C.

Yelp
Super crowded location, which is a good thing. It means that it's popular and good. I just wanted to try something, so I got the plain croissant. Unfortunately, It was just ok sorta like the kind you get at any grocery store or donut shop. I was expecting a buttery, flakey, crisp, and multi-layered. Which this wasn't. It was a cold and soft croissant. Though, the Monkey bread and KA looked good. Next visit.

Mirasol P.

Yelp
The pastries looked sooo good. We had the kouign-amann, almond croissant, pistachio croissant and something with blueberry. They were all good vs great. I prob will not go again since prices were so high. Starter bakery kouign amann was better. BUT the staff was so great and friendly!!

pete h.

Yelp
Came for the first time while up in the area. Ordered 2 croissants, 1 chocolate croissant and a sticky bun. $23. Okay expensive for what they were. Hand the cashier $23 cash and he said, "we dont accept cash!" WTF. What kind of anti-american shit hole did i just drop into. We dont accept cash. I was like keep the change. This is crazy. Pretty soon if you are the wrong type of person you wont be able to buy anything. I love croissants. And this one was an 8 out of 10.

Betty B.

Yelp
the kouign amann is the best I've tried on the peninsula. It's rich, flakey, delicate, and almost custard like in the center. Brilliant. ‍The baguette is very..earthy, if you're into that. The olive ciabatta is pretty good, they have halved green olives throughout which gives it a unique bite. I use it for grilled cheese.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Totally loved the monkey bread and kouign amann, a little disappointed with the pain au chocolat. Nice clean interior of the store; all the baked goods that were available were displayed on the counter in a neat fashion. The monkey bread was delicious! Great caramelized flavors, pull apart pieces were great and well presented. I found it very enjoyable. Nice cinnamon flavor as well. The kouign amann was nicely flaky and crispy. Good layers. Again, nice caramelized flavors. So tasty with a cup of coffee or tea. I found the pain au chocolat to be a bit of a letdown. It had no crispness on the outer shell. It was very soft and deflated gently. A bit dry on the inside. The chocolate was pretty thin in comparison to the size of the croissant. Flavor was average. I'd say skip the pain au chocolat. Definitely try the kouign amann!

Julie P.

Yelp
I love this place. Monkey bread is my absolute favorite. It's crispy and soft and chewy. It's better than cinnamon rolls in my opinion. The chocolate soufflé is also very good. It's just a bit too sweet but will go well with coffee or tea. The croissant is also very good. Parking is a bit of a pain but the ambient is nice with friendly service.

Gaby K.

Yelp
I typically go to the Los Altos location but this is location is much bigger. They do sell out pretty fast if you are not there before lunch so thats the only downside. Atleast they can't run out of coffee lol. The staff is always so friendly and patient if what you want is sold out and you have to pivot last minute like me. I love all their pastries and that levian loaf is so unique to every other sourdough bread I have had. A must try!

Meridithe M.

Yelp
Pastries were delish. Baguette was extremely crunchy and didn't have the sourdough tang I'm looking for. Cashier was friendly but didn't know the job. Will return for pastries.

Linda H.

Yelp
Having tried my fair share of bakeries...I heard about this place and I was in the neighborhood and tried it out. By midday/afternoon, they are sold out of a lot of items on a weekend..to be expected. I did try the monkey bread which was super moist and not too sweet, the squash muffin which had a delicious crumble on top and not overly sweet again, the kouign aman was on par with B patt (iykyk) and the croissants were ok. I tried the almost and plain...and were just a meh for me. They had more things I wanted to try but they were sold. Fast friendly service. This place still deserves a five star bc outside of their croissants, everything I had there was delicious

Patricia T.

Yelp
Weird how this place has middling reviews, I found it pretty efficient with standard bakery fare for the area. I will say, however, that the pastries are not as good as those from the Los Altos Manresa Bread location, which had me second guessing whether these stores are from the same chain (they are!!). The Palo Alto Manresa Bread is definitely more corporate: it has merch on display, for reference. However the bread is as good as ever. I got the Everything Cream Cheese Danish, which was a very interesting and flavorful pastry. It was flakey on the outside with cream cheese on the inside...it was pretty unique and I've had my fair share of pastries, so for that alone it's worth a try. It was very fast to get my pastry despite a line, and I was able to get in-and-out quickly. In terms of food at Town & Country with that level of efficiency, Manresa Bread is pretty up there. I'm looking forward to coming back and tasting more of the seasonal wares!

E.M. W.

Yelp
Great pastries. They used to more regularly introduce new GF pastries. A lemon poppyseed GF muffin with raspberry on top, for example. An amazing chocolate peppermint GF cookie too. The new GF cranberry orange GF scone is nice but it's the first new GF offering in months! Also, almond milk is now $1.50 extra per drink?!?!

Emily W.

Yelp
A friend recommended this bakery to me. I went with the avocado toast, monkey bread, and kouign amann. Cashier was so nice! No indoor seating but there are a few tables outside. Avocado toast was pretty good (high on the citrusy side) but overpriced, but that's expected of Palo Alto. Monkey bread was decent, outside was crispy and cinnamon taste was apparent. Inside was a bit bland and dry though. Kouign amann was delicious!!! I personally liked this a lot better than the monkey bread. I loved all the delicious layers with all the butter and sugar mixed in there. Would definitely come back for the kouign amann!

Kevin M.

Yelp
I went ro Manresa Bread today and bought the monkey bread and lemon seed cake and it was fresh and delicious! The ambiance was nice and comfortable, you can sit outside, as there was no inside seating. It is in a great location where you can walk around with your food and do some shopping. The staff were very nice and pleasant, and very knowledgeable about the food. I would come back again!

Libby J.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to have a pool day, and some friends brought delicious baked goods from Manresa PA. Nothing could be better. The goods: Savory monkey bread - It had layers. This was almost like a cheesy, savory croissant. It was more flaky than I would ever consider a monkey bread...the shape and pull apart aspect were the only monkey-reminiscent part. Friends review: It was hella cheesy. Loved it. Not much monkey 4.5/5 Kouign Amman - Lots of layers! I liked the sweetness to it. It did feel a little dense and really rich. Friends review: The queen among them all. It's like eating a toffee croissant, and it is soooo good 5/5 Fallen soufflé - The texture!! This was like a three texture sort of dessert where the mouthfeel differs per part. There was a molten-y center, a sturdier outside, and an in-between fudgy layer. And so much chocolate! Friends review: Cross between a flourless chocolate cake and a molten lava cake. The texture in the center was gooey and very chocolatey. Overall 4.5/5 Almond croissant - This was eaten without me (*sad*) Friends review: Not enough almond flavor but baked well. 3/5 Getting pastries/desserts at Manresa is a great idea, especially to share! I want to try them all.

Deepa B.

Yelp
I think the grilled cheese and tomato soup I got is not on their regular menu but would recommend! Great rich flavor and tasted like fresh ingredients. I plan on going back because I think their menu is worth exploring.

Yuko N.

Yelp
I had the Honey Butter Corn Scone and an Oat Milk Latte at the Manresa Bread Palo Alto location. The scone was a good scone but it wasn't anything special. I've had better bread at Manresa before. The service was good. However, there are no seats on the inside and only about five tables outside. So this may not be the best choice if you are looking to relax (especially on a hot day).

Mr P.

Yelp
Best sandwiches and bread around. Been enjoying for a number of years. Bit on steep side pricing so indulge

Peaches H.

Yelp
I'm gonna go ahead and give these guys another 5 stars! Stopped in their Los Altos location and few weeks ago and decided this morning to go on a dedicated quest for more cheddar herb monkey bread and per usual it did not disappoint. I also brought a friend along to delight in some as well! This location was 3 miles closer to me so why not. Also I feel like this place was the full bakery and also offered lunch foods with tables and whatnot to sit down. The kouign amann was a little more dry than my usual liking but still great! The Honey Butter Corn Scone was phenomenal! Oh my goodness they sure did nail it on the butter taste. I say this because yes, most scones I make and eat have butter in them but capturing the butter flavor in order to call them a butter scone is something else! I've also had another butter scone from somewhere else in the last two weeks and you don't get the butter flavor. GREAT JOB guys. The staff was super friendly and without a doubt we will be back. Perhaps a different location?

Jocelyn P.

Yelp
First time going into this place during my 15 minute break and I was greeting by an individual who was at the front. They were very sweet and provided excellent customer service. I was curious about their lavender latte and they gave me a small syrup sample of it. I decided to order it along with a carrot muffin. The carrot muffin cake did not tasted sweet and more of a natural taste which I liked. The lavender latte was delicious! I enjoyed the lavender taste as it was overpowering like many places. The place inside was very clean and open spaced. They also provide a free water station where you could grab a cup of cool water which I thought was nice especially on a hot day!

Domina V.

Yelp
Mehhh I think it was all fresh and good quality. My palate was just not meshing with theirs. That's okay we all are different and have different taste preferences. So my star rating is 3. The people behind you in line made me feel rushed to order when I had to re decide when there were no longer items available on the menu for that day. The team members were really sweet and helpful .

Annie J.

Yelp
The name of this place is "Manresa Bread" but the bread here is extremely subpar (especially considering this bakery is related to a Michelin star restaurant). It's tough, overly chewy, and has no flavor. They do not make any classic white breads or brioche. The "sourdough" baguette is an insult to San Francisco sourdough. The sad thing is that Manresa Bread replaced an actually good bakery, Mayfield. Unfortunately, the only option these days for fresh bread in Palo Alto is La Baguette in Stanford Mall.

Marissa H.

Yelp
I got the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich which was $12. The poppy seed bun was pretty soft and toasted well. The bacon was really salty and tough because it was over toasted and slightly burnt. The salty, burnt flavor was quite overwhelming and masked every bite so I didn't really taste anything else. The cheese was melted and crispy on the edges. The egg was super soft and neutral in taste which really helped to balance the saltiness of the bacon. I appreciated that the sandwich was HUGE but was disappointed that I paid $12 for a sandwich that was really salty and burnt tasting. I came right before a huge rush so I didn't have to wait to order. Since the store is kind of small, there isn't a lot of space inside so make sure to step off to the side or outside while you wait or everyone will think you are still in line. I think next time, I will try a pastry instead of a sandwich because it seems like that is what most people were ordering.

Claire H.

Yelp
After visiting this location of Manresa Bread a handful of times, I've become a fan. I tried their iced Honey Cinnamon Latte with oat milk this trip and it was truly delicious. I wish they had size options for their drinks because I would've pick the biggest one they can offer. I also ordered a variety of baked goods to go (including the monkey bread, almond croissant, butternut squash muffin, and the Kouign Amann) since they still had a good selection this late in the day. I've tried some not so yummy pastries at Manresa Bread before so I definitely asked a fair share of questions before ordering, but this trip was a huge success. Every single pastry was delicious and unique tasting. I am already looking forward to my next trip here!

Haleh H.

Yelp
We had higher expectations from Manresa. None of the items we ordered were amazing. They were either just good or not good. We have purchased 4 items from here: - monkey bread: didn't enjoy it. It was rather dry. - croissant: it was good, but not the best. I felt like it was sitting around for awhile. Would I order it again? Yes. Would I actively go back to get more? Absolutely not. - BlackBerry Scone: enjoyed eating it. It was fresh, crispy on the outside & edges and soft inside with good flavor. - Levain Loaf: it had good flavor, we enjoyed eating. I do want to like them, so will be trying few more items.

Ellisons T.

Yelp
Went to Manresa Bread for a croissant at 8:05 this AM 11/13/24. Wanted to pay cash. Said he can only accept cash at this time. Cash is king, I didn't watch use my card. 0*

Evany W.

Yelp
I came here 2x in one day and again today. Mostly because I wanted to try two items, but I didn't want to let it go cold. 1st experience: The brekkie biscuit was really delicious, but HUGE. I could barely fit it in my mouth. The biscuit was flaky (as it should be), the egg was very smooth, and the onion jam was delicious. Overall, it is very delicious and highly recommended. The service was really nice. It wasn't too busy that early in the morning, so the person on the register was chatting with me. I do feel like the tea was very lackluster for how much it cost. They simply added milk to the tea, and there was no sugar in it. All that for over $6. Not worth it imo. 2nd experience: I tried their seasonal chimichurri turkey sandwich (hot) this time and an iced green tea w/ honey. The sandwich this time was also really good. The sourdough was great, and the chimichurri sauce really came through. Usually, it pairs well with beef, but I was glad that they had it with turkey since I don't eat beef. It was simple but had really nice flavors. I recommend trying one before they change the menu! The drink was nice and refreshing for the hot day, and not too sweet so I liked it. 3rd experience: I got the sandwich again, mostly why I went back, but the only difference this time was getting a tea. I had ordered a London Fog, because a previous person had said they could make that, but I think today's register person was confused as to what that was. She ended up just giving me a simple earl Grey tea with no milk or vanilla, but I was still charged over $7. Very expensive tea and I was pretty disappointed that they don't seem to understand tea, despite charging way too much. Next time, I'll stick to making it at home and only come for the food.

Yelp
Best bread in the peninsula, even better than Tartine in SF (although i would consider them both top tier breads). I would love love them to add a Morning bun like Tartine has, we really dont have any good morning buns in the area. The midwife and baker has one but it's burnt.

Yelp
Get excited, everyone: top tier baked goods are finally here in Palo Alto. The Bay Area is home to some of the best bread and pastry bakeries in the world, but most of the "food quest level" bake shops are housed a fair drive from PA. Luckily, Manresa just opened a full time shop in Town & Country, complete with top sweet and savory pastries, breads, sandwiches, and cakes, alongside a variety of Verve roasted coffee drinks. This opening day, I snagged one of their beloved monkey breads for my kiddo, a new spinach fontina croissant for myself (delish!), a giant fresh lye-dipped pretzel, and the current seasonal fruit-nut bread (dried cherry) for later. Looking forward to having great baked goods available near campus!

Yelp
I ordered Latte and Mocha Latte today. They were made without proper frothing of the milk. Very bad. They are usually ok, but I am afraid some baristas are not properly trained. Otherwise we are a regular (~ once a week) at Manresa Bread.

Yelp
Stopped by for a Gibraltar & to try out a few baked items on a weekday. No line at all 10:30 am. Easy parking. Spinach fontina croissant is indeed delicious! $6.50 seems like a lot, but it IS Palo Alto & it was much more filling than I expected. The brownie also delicious- a nice flavor & texture ( softish brownie w crunch on top) & not overpoweringly sweet like most brownies. Gibraltar was perfect. Hot & Potent without being burnt, Verve coffee. Staff were very friendly & helpful. They were going to put all my items in 1 nice looking box but I asked for a separate bag for one as I was planning to give to a friend. They asked if I needed a new pastry & if was a problem that they had touched- which was not a concern for me but nice that they were asking about allergy/sensitivities. Will return to try the tempting-looking sandwiches & big loaves of bread.

Yelp
Delicious pastries and baked goods at Town and Country in Palo Alto! We came by on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30pm, and I was surprised at how many offerings were available. We got the kouign amann, almond pastry, lemon tart, and a plain croissant. All were delicious, the pastry was flaky and crispy, and the prices were pretty standard for the Bay Area and comparable to what we've paid for pastries in SF. I think we did get lucky, the week before our friend went around 3pm and they did not have the kouign amann, so I'd probably recommend getting there at least earlier in the afternoon, we just got lucky. Not a sit down place but there are tables elsewhere in the T&C complex where you can sit and enjoy your pastry!

Yelp
My husband and I have been longtime fans of Manresa and even dined at the Michelin star restaurant for my 30th birthday. While the restaurant has sadly shuttered, I'm glad that the bakery locations live on, and was especially excited when one location opened in Palo Alto so close to us. Our favorites here are the kouign aman (this is a must, and is what they're known for!). Their original is always a sure bet, but they sometimes have seasonal flavor offerings like Meyer lemon, which are also worth trying. Their version is flaky, with a pleasant crunch from the crystallized sugar. It's perfect with coffee! I also tried their monkey bread, which reminds me of the best parts of a cinnamon bun, but without the often too-sweet glaze. I loved how pillowy soft each bite was, and it's sweeter than the kouign aman, but I couldn't stop eating it. Their almond croissant is also solid, although my favorite is still probably Bouchon Bakery's in Yountville. Manresa Bread rivals the best of the Bay's many top tier bakeries, and I'm so thankful I don't have to trek to SF to get quality pastries. A pastry from Manresa, along with a cup of coffee, is my happy place. Try it and you'll see why! :)

Yelp
Came in today 10/4/24 and the girl working at the register was rude. Left feeling really uncomfortable and won't come back if this is this kind of customer service they accept

Yelp
Came for the BLT sandwich that I saw in the photos. Well it's not "in season" anymore so they didn't have any. Womp womp. I ended up ordering Avocado toast with an egg added and grabbed a baguette to go. While I waited for my order I tried the bread and found it to be particularly hard. This was a disappointment. My hubby and I love baguette bread so I'll see how we can salvage it later. Update: The avocado toast with the egg was delish but we ended up tossing out the baguette

Yelp
The manresa in campbell is amazing. I just doordashed two matcha lattes and a chia pudding from this location. They cancelled both of my matcha lattes and sent me moldy chia pudding. Never ordering from here again

Yelp
So happy we have a Manresa bakery here in Palo Alto. I just got back an hour ago and purchased my first Levain loaf. I can't wait to take this home and make sandwiches. I also enjoyed their egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with sweet onions. This is a great breakfast item; a little pricey at $12 but premium ingredients and hits the spot. I paired this with a gibraltar from Verve. This Manresa location has freshly made bread and pastries. Their service is excellent and super friendly. There is a small outdoor seating space that is great for hanging out while eating. I will start coming here for my bread loaf and baguettes!
