The Best and Worst Chicago Restaurant Week Deals For Five Popular Cuisines | Eater Chicago

"I found Margeaux Brasserie to be a top Restaurant Week pick: although the menu differs from the regular menu, a three-course dinner’s cheapest starter, main, and dessert would total $44 and a $48 dinner provides plenty of good choices. To get the most value, avoid the salad and opt for the lobster velouté; overall it’s a good way to try Margeaux Brasserie without dropping mad cash." - Elizabeth Atkinson

Decided to try this place out when they had a last minute reservation available on New Year's Eve. Despite it being a holiday we never felt rushed and recieved excellent service. Everything was delicious from our drinks, hors d'oeuvres, entree and sides. We even got a dessert to go. The star of the show was definitely the Brussel sprouts. Absolutely delicious!

My Fiancé and I came here for a new place to try, and we left super happy! The food was absolutely amazing!!! Being our first time, we had our waiter recommend some dishes. The Truffles Goat Cheese Gougeres were perfect to start with. So much flavor and light too. I ordered the Monte Cristo and I was happy I did! She ordered the Royale with Cheese and she said it was very tasty. Can't wait to come back again!! 10 of 10 would recommend!!!

On weekdays, this place offers a calm and inviting atmosphere with a low crowd. The service is impeccable, and the space is clean and well-decorated, with pleasant visuals that enhance the dining experience. The food is delicious, although the meat was a bit salty for my taste. However, the overall flavors were good with the drink. The desserts were a perfect balance, not overly sweet and with fresh berries. All the food was warm and presented nicely. We had duck and Brie as appetizer, and then for meal croque maguaz, duck crepes and ended with crepe cake and crème brulee. We enjoyed our food and had a relaxing time while chit chatting comfortably.

Google
amazing food and fun atmosphere! The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked and came with frits that were amazing. My beet salad was one of the best I’ve had with plenty of beets and a tasty dressing. Then we finished with one of the best crème brûlées I’ve ever had!!

The 5 of us decided to try this along with some other friends for a Holiday get-together and meal. Overall the food was tasty and presented well. The atmosphere did not remind me of an authentic French Restaurant, rather a nice American restaurant. The menu items are overpriced for the the actual food/drinks served including the appetizer (see photos). Thankfully we ordered the appetizer, as the main entree will not satisfy most peoples appetite. It seemed like maybe the Hamburger would be the best value - but overpriced as well. In summary, it might be place to try once, but that would be about it for us unless you are expecting to drop well over $100 for an average sized meal that tasted good (that would include appetizer, salad, main entree, drink and without desert!).

It is always a pleasure to spend time in a beautiful place and enjoy a drink and fabulous food. This atmosphere was comfortable while still elegant. The design is beautiful everywhere you look. The bar is incredibly well-appointed, and every staff member was friendly and knowledgeable. The options were diverse and each one was better than the last. But the highlight for me was the 15-layer Pistachio Crepe Cake, a dessert that I will always crave after tonight. Christopher kindly gave us a full view of the menus, both food and drinks. He pointed out that the bartender is also the sommelier and is happy to help us find the perfect drink. We also learned that Margaux Brasserie is women-owned, and there are only pictures of women on the walls. As a woman, that also makes me happy. The entire area is accessible, from the front door to the ladies' room. Although I don't think the booths are good for mobility issues, there are many other tables available. Margaux also has an area that can become private for events. While it is intimate, it can hold 50-70 if using high tops. What a great location for a special occasion. They also cater, so all needs can be met. This easy-to-get-to get to location is in the Corners of Brookfield, and there is plenty of parking. Another great option for my dining choices.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that’s different from your usual spot Margaux Brasserie is just the place. Our server Marquita was knowledgeable and very nice. The atmosphere is top notch, they did not skimp on the details. From the gold plated utensils down to the gold pen you’re given to sign the check, this place has thought of everything. Our table tried the Bellini, charcuterie board, and the Brioche French toast complete with eggs and breakfast potatoes.

DO NOT PASS THIS RESTAURANT OVER! THIS PLACE IS A MUST. My humble love letter: I am leaving your establishment pleasantly full, happy and very impressed. My intention was to quietly try a new place and use one of my city tins. Yet, plans quickly changed. Where do I start? The brunch menu was jammed with so much decadence, making decisions was a challenge. First, a Rouge Basilic, which was a refreshing start with waterelon & basil. I ordered the soup du jour, curried carrot, and two appetizers - duck & brie turnovers and truffled goat cheese gougeres. I'm thankful my server suggested staggering service. Oof! Following all of this I ordered the wild mushroom and winter squash galette. It was served with a sunny side egg on top and the most pleasantly dressed salad on the side. Let me just say -- Every. Dish. Blew. My. Mind! While I'm not a food critic, I'm no novice. Textures, flavors, temperatures. Everything was spectacular. Perfection! I could have licked the soup bowl clean. Simply divine. I took a few snaps, couldn't help it. Everything is incredibly photogenic, and that extends beyond the menu as well. The decor... please potential customers, take note of the immense detail and love put into the design and detail of this place! The thoughtful use of gorgeous, feminine colors, textures, images. Ladies, use the powder room. Don't have to go? Doesn't matter -- Use. The. Powder. Room. IYKYK. I shook the owner's hand and heard her story of how Margaux Brasserie came to be. Bravo! Chef's Kiss!

Yelp
This review is for brunch only. A French restaurant open on Sunday for breakfast and brunch is already a pleasant surprise - and this one is a gem! The space is spacious and beautiful, almost like something you'd expect to find in Chicago or California; very Instagram-friendly. We didn't even know it existed until we failed to get a table at another neighborhood spot, and we're so glad we ended up here instead. Everything was visually appealing, delicious, fairly priced, and generously portioned. Service was top notch. We tried Mussels Frites, Truffled Goat Cheese Gougères, Wild Mushroom & Winter Squash Galette, Croque Margaux, and a mimosa. The gougères (even though we're not usually goat-cheese fans) and the galette were particularly memorable -- highly recommend both. A great addition to the area. We would absolutely come back.

Yelp
It was worth the journey to experience this light-filled, open-line-of sight to all diners venue. This south side girl was challenged finding the Margaux within the massive shopping and dining experience called The Corners of Brookfield, circling the complex 3x before finding this French delight. I felt like Leslie Caron must have felt in the movie Gigi, dazzled by the candles and light and flittering about of high society. I could almost see Maurice Chevalier and Louis Jourdan hanging at the bar! I was there with my friend Jeanne to join the Yelp Elite party hosted there. Immediately felt the energy of the place; lots of competent waitstaff whirling and a pleasant buzz of conversation. The music level and choices were perfect! Noticed the clientele skewed classy; high end leisure clothes, smart chic outfits and fresh haircuts and manicures. A well-heeled crowd. Date I say...a bit French? Appetizers were passed and we grazed on charcuterie. Delicious! Wine was free flowing in delicious crystal glasses. Cocktails poured with a flourish! The menu is perfect. Prices not bad - and the food coming out of the kitchen appeared beautifully plated. I'm coming back for: Escargot Vol - Au - V ent $18.00 Stuffed puff pastry, wine braised burgundy snails, Parisian butter, madiera mushroom sauce Truffled Goat Cheese Gougères $19.00 Pâte à choux, black truffle, whipped goat mascarpone, burnt honey butter, pistachio Parisian Benedict* $16.00 Brown butter brioche, jambon de Paris, poached eggs, arugula hollandaise, petite brasserie salad This is exactly the place to take your women friends, as can see and be seen by all the eligible bachelors in the room. It's also a vibrant place to celebrate a milestone, It's perfect if you want to have a romantic tryst, or gather a whole tribe of your besties for a night of great food and drink. "France has found herself again in the discovery of the art of savoring life, of which good food is a first necessity." -- Marcel Proust

Yelp
Upscale atmosphere venue with bartop, booth, and table seating. Perfect for gathering w our MKE friends. Wr arrived early and enjoyed a drinks at the bar to prep for our rez. Great bar service. We originally sat in a large booth, however moved to a table due to it being a bit chilly for one of dining friends. Our dining fare was quite the variety: French Onion Soup, a Royale w Cheese, Braised Short Rib, and Filet. All very good, and served w a smile from Jolie. The dining room became quite busy over our time. Overall a pleasant mid-upper dining experience.

Yelp
Margaux is a cute, colorful, and fun restaurant in the Brookfield Corners. We enjoyed multiple courses for dinner. The gougeres and French onion soup were the best appetizers! Drinks were fun and creative. 3/4 of us at the table ordered the short rib entree and all had clean plates. Service was a bit spotty as we got into our meal, but there was another event going on that night. We also had a bit of an awkward mix up regarding dessert, but we just took it to go.

Yelp
This restaurant was so beautifully decorated and the staff were super friendly! I had a few mocktails and dessert and had a really great experience! The walls have awesome murals on them and the booths look so cozy.

Yelp
Great stop here the other night for happy hour. I haven't been before but was blown away by the decor/setup. They have fun colors and vibes and a gorgeous chandelier in the front entryway. The HH specials weren't too bad but the pours were a little light for the price. You're paying for the ambiance, for sure. Many of the meals coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, especially some frites. Will have to stop for dinner next time. Service was excellent. I had 3-4 servers stopping by within 30 minutes to grab drinks, the bill, etc. Great team!

Yelp
We originally were at Margaux Brasserie for a Yelp Event, but stayed at the bar to try more drinks and snacks. We loved the environment and staff - everyone was so welcoming and attentive. We ordered their Crème Brûlée Espresso Martini and the Seine Old Fashioned. The espresso martini was on the sweeter side (no surprise as it is crème brûlée inspired) and delicious. The old fashioned was a whole experience. They put the mixed cocktail in a small glass container and add smoke to it. Then you, as a the guest, let it sit in the smoke as long as you want and pour over your glass with an ice sphere. Not only fun, but also very tasty. We ordered the mussels frites and duck turnovers - both absolutely delightful. The mussels were cooked perfectly and soaked in a delicious butter garlic sauce. You won't need to let it go to waste either - they also provide you with a small loaf of bread and frites! Whatever the sauce is they have for the fries is amazing. The duck turnovers were presently beautifully with amazing colors and were just as brightly flavored on the inside. Our friends ordered the sea salt caramel gelato profiteroles for dessert and let us try a bite - so yummy! Overall, I would definitely go back. Their prices reflect the quality of the food and effort put in to making a beautifully curated menu.

Yelp
The French onion soup was good but loaded with bread and cheese. Dessert was confusing. We ordered the layered crepe but didn't read the full description of it, as it wasn't a crepe. Service was attentive but felt overwhelmed. The atmosphere is nice but it felt a bit cold inside as it was outside on a Saturday night. A French venue like this one should feel cozy and warm. At least that's been the case in my experience. I'll go back and give it another try.

Yelp
Visiting my wife's family here, we got to try this French place. The good and apps are delicious. Definitely gotta try the duck apps a the French dip. Those were the best. Ambience and service were also amazing. I definitely recommend when you're in the area!

Yelp
Came here while on business and close to my hotel. Cute cafe atmosphere and not crowded but lively on a Wed evening. Service was nice. And the scallops were cooked perfectly. Presentation was great as well. Would recommend.

Yelp
I was looking at reviews yesterday and I was very impressed. I decided to book a reservation last night for today. We walked in, And got seated right away. It was our first time here and didn't know what to expect. The food was really-really good. Im not sure what sauces were next to the fries, but whatever they were, they know exactly what they're doing because they both were yummy! The service was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I have been at Margaux Brasserie twice now with family. We had an excellent brunch with everyone really enjoying their meals. Apparently their drinks are great too with 2 family members raving about the lemon meringue margarita. A really cool drink is called " the way a bird sings monet which is served in a unique bird glass with a tail made of lemon peel. Picture included. Service was excellent both times! Ambiance is beautiful restaurant. Pictures included! Desserts are many. I have tried the 15 layer cake - excellent and the chocolate mousse which is FABULOUS!

Yelp
So far so good! I've been looking forward to trying this place since it opened. The decor is classy and modern. I stopped in and sat at the bar for a "snack" of French onion soup, mussels, and wine. Bizarrely, my French onion soup came out cold, but my mother's came out hot. The bartender was very apologetic and fixed it immediately. No hard feelings. The mussels were absolutely delightful and the fries were very crisp. I didn't encounter a single piece of grit while enjoying the mussels. They were also scrubbed beautifully. The wine by the glass list was pretty impressive as well. I cannot wait to go back for a full meal!

Yelp
As always, food and service are top notch. Can't wait to go back! Everything about this restaurant is quality.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and food. On the pricey side but you are worth it. What should you order? Pre-dinner beverage: -sidecar Appetizers: -escargot -truffled goat cheese -tuna tartare French onion soup Beverage with dinner: -Malbec Red Schooner Main: -short rib Sides: -brussel sprouts -carrots Dessert: -banana foster napoleon Don't leave without checking out the peepshow in the toilette. Merci beaucoup!

Yelp
Food was very good! The appetizers, particularly the gougeres and the menage a trois were exceptional. The frites were also great. Service was helpful and attentive. The only thing that would keep me from coming back was the noise level, especially the music selection, which was a fairly loud mix of pop and rock that seemed to be more conducive to a bar scene than a French restaurant.

Ann B.

Yelp
Cute restaurant. The night we were there they were understaffed. That explains the slow service, but not the soggy roast chicken. You can judge a bistro by the omelette and the roast chicken. The skin wasnt browned or crisp. It was pale and gelatinous. Calling it roast chicken was so not true. The chicken itself was fine, but there is no way that was roasted chicken. Yuck. I may go back to try something else, but stay away from the soggy chicken.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant at the Corners in Brookfield! The ambience is French chic and absolutely gorgeous. We sat at the bar (although we had a reservation and the table was ready right on time) and our bartender was friendly, attentive and so knowledgeable with the menu. We started with a tasty NA beverage, followed by a delicious & perfectly prepared Benedict. My friend had duck turnover and she said it was also very well made. Every minute was enjoyable. I will definitely be back! P.s. the gorgeous decor is worth a visit even into the restrooms - don't forget to check out the peep show! (Wink)

Yelp
I have been here twice and both times no disappointment. I need to come for brunch because I have also heard amazing things. I can't say enough about the vibes for this place. So fun and modern. The drinks are delicious! The burger is simply perfection yet there isn't anything simple about it. If I went here for the fries and dipping sauce alone I would be happy. To end with the fifteen layer crepe cake is perfection. It's so light and airy yet the perfect amount of sweet. Fun place, great food and can't ask for more!

Yelp
- Great food, good ambiance, good service - Reservation was made and recommended - We would love to come back for a 3rd time! A nice return visit to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday! The food was delicious and made for a great start to our morning. We started with the Escargot Vol-Au-Vent and they were a great introduction to snail. The mushroom sauce was very flavorful, fragrant, and delicious, and the puff pastry was very crispy despite all the sauce that was on top. This was my first bite of snails ever, and it was quite tasty. The texture was similar to a mussel and made for a texture-filled and delicious appetizer. For my main, I had gotten the Duck Crepes from seeing them on my last visit and had to try them! I am not used to savory crepes, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it still exceeded my expectations. The crepes were stuffed with duck and were very flavorful. The sauces added bright color and another flavor to round out the gameyness of the duck. My only downside to the meal was the bed of lentils the crepes were served on - only because I don't like lentils - but I still ate everything. My lovely lady had gotten the Smoked Salmon Benedict and they were deeeelicious! The eggs were poached well and the toast was buttery. The hollandaise sauce was well-balanced, though I did not taste much dill in it. The salmon had a nice strong smokey flavor and all the textures and flavors made each bite so very tasty! To finish our meal, we of course had to get the Crème Brulée (again)! The dessert was creamy and had a nice balance of sweetness and tartness from the berries on top. We did notice there weren't as many vanilla speckles as last time and that it was decorated a bit different, but it didn't affect the dessert taste-wise. Looking forward to the next visit and hopefully for dinner next time!

Yelp
I've been eager to try this place ever since I heard it opened. It is beautiful inside and out. Flowers surrounding the door and teal kind of retro décor inside. We visited shortly after opening on a Sunday morning, and it wasn't busy at all, so we were seated right away. The menu is a delightful blend of French-inspired dishes and classic favorites with a French twist. We ordered the Brasserie Brunch and Strawberry Crepes, along with a Bloody Mary. The food was served quickly and was absolutely delicious! Everything was beautifully laid out on the plate and I thought the potatoes were wonderfully seasoned. I thought the prices were reasonable for what we got. I'd love to come back and try their lunch or dinner menu!

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! Even before entering it was beautiful and inviting. It looked French with beautiful Fall flowerpots which added to the ambiance and the interior was just as charming and so chic. My friend and I came from LAKE GENEVA to shop have lunch and enjoy the day. We hit the jackpot for dining. We had a lovely waitress who helped us make a decision on a drink which was perfect for the day. We ended up choosing identical entrees and really should have shared as it was not only very tasty but much bigger and better than expected. Am returning today for lunch to bring my friend who is turning 80 as I know she will love it too. Couldn't more highly recommend a restaurant. Everything about it is 5 star and only 45 minutes from LAKE GENEVA. Will definitely keep returning to this wonderful spot!

Yelp
After spending thousands of dollars enjoying this place, we were gutted by our last experience at Margaux. It was absolutely terrible. We knew something was wrong. I asked if they still had the same chef and was sad to learn he had left. Until we hear about a new all star replacement, we have to stay away and hope for the best. The management did comp our meal and assured us that the new chef, Rosie (I think her name was) was awesome. Well, that was the tone-deaf response to a horribly overstated, limp meal and a tough overcooked filet. Please let us know when you're back to the 5-star place we knew and loved.

Yelp
Welcome to the neighborhood, Margaux! A truly beautiful addition to the area. The restaurant is gorgeous both inside and out. There's plenty of tables and different seating arrangements, but every corner feels quite cozy. I was a bit thrown off being offered wine and cocktails at 9am, but I think it was one of the first days serving the brunch menu (I passed on both). Tons of great food choices and the perfect amount of French flair. The deviled benedict had a wonderfully mild horseradish kick that complimented the dish. And make sure you check under the breakfast potatoes as there's a pile of grilled garlic and shallots. My only critique is that monte cristo could've been a bit crispier on the outside (it was a tad soggy). Highly recommend coming by for brunch. Next time I'll just come a little later to enjoy the bloody Maria.

Yelp
Food was amazing. One of the best brunches I've had in the area. The ambiance is so good and inviting. The service "Anna" was really nice and attentive. Great recommendations. The seating was front first so all the cute back seating was at request which they accommodated. This is my new favorite spot. Prices aren't bad at all. Private event space that gets separated by a large curtain.

Yelp
This spot has so much potential, but it ultimately fell short in a few key areas. The ambiance. Absolute perfection--10/10! The decor is chic, trendy, and full of French-inspired charm, complete with faux flowers everywhere. It's the ideal place for a brunch date or catching up with girlfriends. This space is hands down the highlight of the experience. The food. Solid, but not outstanding. My croque monsieur was fantastic, but the rest of the food was just okay. My fries were warm rather than hot and lacked crispiness. It was disappointing to have food arrive at a less-than-perfect temperature. The menu is packed with French-inspired offerings, which is a plus, but the execution could use improvement. The service. This is where Margaux Brasserie struggled the most. We had a lunch reservation on a Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., and the entire experience took 2.5 hours--far too long for lunch, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy. It took forever to get waters, even longer to have our order taken, and the pacing throughout the meal was painfully slow. Toward the end, the manager stepped in to check on us and bring our check, which was confusing since our waiter was still around. The lack of communication and ownership from the staff made the long wait even more frustrating. Overall. Margaux Brasserie is a visually stunning restaurant with solid food, but the service needs serious improvement to match the ambiance. I'd consider giving it another shot, but only if they work out the kinks in their service.

Yelp
I went to Margaux Brasserie with a group of friends for the first time. We made a reservation on a weekday night and honestly it may not have been necessary cause they had ample seating. To start I'd say the vibes are immaculate! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I loved all the floral touches (even in the bathroom which is why I had to take a picture of the huge bouquet to share). We were initially sat at a booth and one of the pipes above must have been leaking cause my friend was getting a small shower every few minutes. She kindly let the waitress know and within less than a minute the manager was over and promptly switched our tables. We ordered drinks and everyone loved theirs and I loved the NA cocktails! For apps we got the goat cheese and it was incredible! Very flavorful and creamy on the inside with nice subtle hint of truffle. We also got the mussels frites and typically I don't like mussels but the sauce made them incredible! We ended up keeping the bowl and dipping some of the bread in there to savor even more of the flavor. The fries were perfection - crispy and salty with aioli on the side. As my meal I got the filet that was cooked medium and was cooked perfectly! The mashed potatoes were decadently whipped and beautifully seasoned. We were all pretty full at that point, but had to try to dessert and I'm so glad we did! It was delicious with the addition of fresh berries on top. 10/10 experience and food and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Absolutely loved my dinner and drinks at Margaux Brasserie! The French onion soup was delicious and I absolutely loved my duck confit. Our waitress made the experience even better with her fun spirit and quick service, we never had a glass without water! Would definitely check out again

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch here with a friend recently. The space is so beautiful! I could've spent 20 minutes just looking around. It was packed so I was glad they sat us without a reservation. Our waitress was very sweet and took good care of us. We had the Niçoise salad with salon added and shared some fries. Our salads were absolutely delicious. Would definitely order it again or try another salad they offer. The salad, fries, and iced tea cost me about $40 without tip, but it was worth the price to have such a nice, relaxed lunch with my friend. Will definitely return for a drink at the bar. Sorry I forgot to take a photo but I will next time! There is currently construction in front of the restaurant so outside seating is not really an option right now, but would be cool for people watching in the future!

Lovely space with yummy food! We made a reservation for a slow afternoon, wasn't really needed but we always make sure we do. We tried oysters, escargot and steak frites, all delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive and answered all of our questions. Will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Yelp
Always love having another restaurant with brunch options in the area. Everything was delicious. Beautiful space and excited to come back and try other items. I would note however this is not a kid friendly restaurant. My little guy was still able to find something he liked though.

Yelp
Food was delicious, our server was super sweet and tentative, and it was the perfect place for my friend's Birthday dinner! With comfy booths, great lighting, and a beautiful bar, Margaux is perfect for casual or formal dining. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service and food and ambiance. Beautiful, stunning decor. Our waitress helped us clean up my sisters spill! Very sweet lady. We went for dinner on a Saturday. I'd definitely get reservations, it was pretty busy from 530-630. For appetizers, we got the goat cheese and honey puffs with pistachios. This was so perfectly done and was a great start. I got the chicken and mashed potatoes. The mushroom sauce was to DIE for! Chicken was perfectly cooked as well, the mashed potatoes were also very creamy and everything went together perfectly. My mom and sister split the steak and fries. That was also amazingly cooked and the sauces were fantastic. The only gripe is the price - one side of fries is 8$. My chicken was 32$. If we hadn't had a dining credit there to use up then it would not have been worth the money for us. Could be fun to splurge on, and the brunch menu also looks delicious! I'd recommend for a cute date night but not affordable for most and just not quite worth the price.

Yelp
I love the interior of the place, fun and beautiful. The food I ordered was ok. The concept is good, I ordered one of the duck dish for brunch. As someone who loves French cuisine, I was not impressed by the dish.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! Ever since I heard about its opening it has been on my list. Went for a small late lunch with a friend and was so glad I did. We will be back! It is so beautiful inside, the ambiance is gorgeous, relaxed and bright. Service was very friendly and consistently checked in. And the food was so so good. My friend and I split the chicken sandwich, grilled peach caprese salad, and the crepe cake, and there was not a crumb left on the plate. We will be back in a few weeks for a girls brunch date!

Yelp
I am so excited I finally got here after hearing all of the wonderful reviews from friends and online. What a special place! This is what I'm talking about when you want a true treat of fine dining. from the moment you walk in, you can feel that you are someplace special. The decor, the ambience, the vibe all of it in a special place. Service is just how I remember years ago. So happy to say it is not gone. Upon reviewing the menu, I was salivating at so many items, but I opted for the highly recommended short rib.. Needless to say, I clean that plate like never before the sweet potato purée was divine as the most tender, flavorful and moist short rib I've ever had. And the carrots were sweet like sugar. The 15 layer crêpe cake is plenty to share and the berries and fruit puree blended perfectly! Can't wait to go back and try more things like there's a drink that looks like a glass bird and it's blue

Yelp
We have been to Brasserie M multiple times since its opening. We never see the same staff twice. Sitting at the bar is definitely our preference. Last visit was very disappointing. As others mentioned, the restaurant does not appear well managed. Staff shouldn't be scrolling their smartphones in the restaurant- just saying. Waitresses seem to be either overwhelmed with amount of guests to look after or bored... thought the hostess would see to that, or? I also don't understand why all the waitresses have to pour wines by the glass? Seems very unsanitary having so many hands opening / closing bottles. Cold !! French fries with mussels and our waitress nowhere to be seen. Coffee was stale and not really warm. The amended check was very confusing.

Yelp
Found this newly opened restaurant in the Corners at Brookfield through yelp search, made a reservation an hour before on a whim and we were able to get in on a Saturday evening for dinner (party of 5 with 2 small kids). I first called to make sure they have high chairs since plenty of the nicer places in downtown Milwaukee do not welcome small kids for dinner, and I was ecstatic that they actually do. Parking is never a problem because of its location. In fact, it's right next to an outdoor parking lot that's next to Von Maur. This place is beautifully appointed and has a very Parisienne interior. They have a full bar and the cocktails reflect the competence of the bartender as they are robust, not watered down, and not overly sugared. I initially tried one of their mocktails, then later ordered a French 75. Husband had a classic old fashioned. Although they are indeed kid friendly, they only have a small tabletop/cabinet in the bathroom to change diapers on so keep that in mind. I have a 2yo and it wasn't a problem changing him there. Food is on the pricier side but i think it's justified by how fresh the seafood, the steak, and the herbs were for every single dish we tried. We had mussels and frites, and oysters mignonette for starters. Mussels were perfectly cooked, not dry, not overly seasoned, definitely not overcooked and bitter which is a common mistake when you have mussels that aren't as fresh as these. The oysters were very freshly shucked. My husband had french onion soup which was perfectly executed. Mother in law had boullabaisse and she ate it all, which says a lot because she usually does not like to dine out and prefers to cook at home. And did i already mention that this was the best steak i ever had in my life? Yes, even better than a Peter Lugers I had in Brooklyn years back. So i had the prime steak with frites, ordered it how i usually like my steak- medium rare. First bite was transcendent! It was so perfect, it was not bland and not covered in salt. Very soft melt in your mouth steak. I will keep coming back for this for sure. I got the gratin dauphinois for the kids, although they love the french fries they were never potatoed out. The desserts! Amazing! My husband isn't a dessert kinda guy but he was telling me how enjoyable both the creme brulee and the crepe cake were because neither were overwhelmingly sweet and both had a hint of salt which teased the palate. I really wanna try their brunch next time too! We would usually go to Milwaukee for a more modern and finer dining experiences and I cannot believe they opened this restaurant here in Brookfield. This one's my new favorite! What's even better is that they welcome little kids!!!

Yelp
First time dining at Margaux, good overall experience. Service was great, food was a good value. Interior was colorful and clean, lounge area near bar looked like a place my wife and I would enjoy when we return. We enjoyed Mussels Frites as an appetizer. White wine sauce was excellent with bread. I chose the Ora King Salmon, my wife the Prime Steak Frites. Both were properly prepared and tasted great. I did order the Gratin Dauphinois which I would not order again. Good layering of the potatoes, but too much cheese to enjoy. Crème Brûlée was what you would expect, no surprises there. The Fifteen-Layer crepe cake should not be passed up, excellent French dessert.

Yelp
As others have said, fantastic ambiance, beautiful, fun, elegant! Service is consistently ok. The food is fine but does not match the price. I'm not sure if this is a chain, but the food tastes like an upscale chain restaurant, like the rest of the Corners sadly. Was hoping for more authentic-tasting French food.

Yelp
I went for the first time today. I had lunch with a friend and we shared three things. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The ambiance left a little to be desired. It is beautifully decorated. My only complaint is about the loud rock music that was playing from the time I entered and throughout my entire visit. The music seemed incongruous with the French theme and decor. Perhaps some Edith Piaf might be more appropriate.

Yelp
Myyyyyygawwwwwd. I have always been in love with French dining, in and out and this place is where I go to feel pretty and eat French food. It's a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, the service was above ++ top notch (applause for Kara, our friendly server). Take your mom, sister, aunt, friend or anyone that would appreciate gold cutlery and suede booths. It's a marvelous restaurant and I'm happy to continue to dine and be impressed here! Corporate outings, rethink the steakhouse meal and give this a try.

Yelp
Came here for a date night on a Saturday and wasn't very busy at all. Service was great and friendly. Let's start with the favs; the goat cheese truffles and brussel sprouts were the best, possibly best brussel sprouts we ever had! For the main course I had the filet and my wife the chicken. Both tasted great, my wife loved the flavors of the chicken dish. I ordered my steak medium but it came medium rare, which is fine as sometimes I order that way, it was tender and flavorful. Minor critique, the steak knife they gave me to cut it was about the same as a dull butter knife and was difficult to cut the steak. I determined it was the knife that was the issue, not the steak, as it was tender to eat, but that knife made it feel like I was cutting through something tough and chewy, suggest they swap out their steak knives for something a bit better. For dessert, we tried the 15-layer crepe cake and the cream brûlée. The pics of the cake online was what actually caught my eye on this place as we love dessert, and it was good, but not as good as it looked like it would have been in the pics. The crème brûlée was very good, we like that better than the crepe cake. Very good restaurant, with a few tweaks, could move to 5-star review easily, very surprised it wasn't busier than it was. Would recommend a try to anyone in the area! Also, definitely plan to come back for brunch sometime as it looks outstanding!

Yelp
Our server was very patient with us and she gave our table a ton of time to catch up while ordering. We weren't rushed or anything while being served. Truly a pleasure having her as our server. Nothing special about the food, but the ambiance definitely takes you out of MKE/Brookfield.

Yelp
One of the best meals ever! My wife has been to France nine times and I've been there twice and we've eaten many wonderful meals there--none beat this meal! I've managed restaurants for 25 years and if I could, I'd hire 100 Brookes. Brooke is an exceptional server and her recommendations were spot on, she was pleasant, friendly and enhanced every aspect of our experience. The ambiance feels comfortable and upscale at the same time.
