"We’d weave through hundreds of Pike Place tourists sampling artisanal honey on wooden sticks for the blackened salmon sandwich from Market Grill. In fact, we have. Many times. This terrific sandwich comes with caramelized onion, romaine, and rosemary mayo on a charred baguette, and it’s one of the best seafood dishes you can eat in this city. The grilled halibut, herby clam chowder, and tuna poke here are also great, too." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"Maybe you got elbowed by someone trying to snap a picture of the Pike Place Fish Market people throwing a halibut like a football for the 18th time today. Pull up a seat at the counter at Market Grill for some solace in the middle of all the chaos. Someone behind the grill will fire up your blackened salmon sandwich with rosemary mayo and ladle you some herby clam chowder (which is what to order)." - aimee rizzo
"It’s easy to miss this little counter, but Market Grill has some of the best seafood in the market, which makes it some of the best seafood in the whole city. The star item is a blackened-just-right piece of wild-caught salmon between two slices of warm grilled bread. At $20 for a sandwich it isn’t a bargain, but it is a necessity. They also have chowder, seafood stew, and poke." - Harry Cheadle
"When people land at SeaTac, they’re typically interested in two things: fresh seafood and Pike Place Market. You could take them somewhere to eat king salmon, but that’s a great way to spend all of your money. Except if you know about Market Grill—it’s smack in the middle of Pike Place, and you can get a tasty blackened salmon sandwich slathered in rosemary mayo for a cool $15. After lunch, take a lap around the same jars of artisanal jam and screen-printed t-shirts you pretend to get excited about every time visitors fly in." - aimee rizzo
"Market Grill has a dining situation that sounds unbearable, but if you stick it out, you get one of the best lunches downtown. First, you have to walk through a good portion of Pike Place’s human traffic jam (which usually starts because one person is blocking the way trying to dip a popsicle stick in some wild honey sample). Eventually, you’ll find what you’re looking for—a diner-style counter smack in the middle of the market, where staff is there to fire up your blackened salmon sandwich with rosemary mayo. If you’re alone, it’s not too hard to grab a seat, but if you’re with a few people, take it to go—and don’t miss a side of herby clam chowder, either." - aimee rizzo
