Where to Eat in the Sunset and Parkside

"This shotgun-style restaurant is at once familiar and at the same time singular. The pad thai could be the same as any other Thai restaurant, except the fresh ingredients and delicate use of oils and spices place this version in a league of its own. The family who run the restaurant and Marnee Thai II, its sister spot further down Irving Street, are reliable and could teach a masterclass in professional kindness. The eggplant curry with sticky rice is excellent." - Paolo Bicchieri, Dianne de Guzman

The Best Restaurants In The Sunset - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Nothing beats sitting down at Marnee Thai and being delivered a skillet full of Thai rice coconut hotcakes with pumpkin, corn, green onions, and coconut cream. As you carefully scoop each one out, they get progressively crispier on the outside, but still remain pleasingly soft inside. This is one of San Francisco’s oldest Thai restaurants and while they nail all the standard classics, there’s almost always something exciting to try on the specials board too. The noodles, soups, curries, and other menu staples hone in on Central Thailand, though you’ll find dishes from other regions too, like massaman curry from the southern part of the country." - Julia Chen 1, Lani Conway, Will Kamensky, Tamara Palmer, Ricky Rodriguez

Thai and Lao Restaurants Open for Takeout and Delivery in the Bay Area | Eater SF

"The three-decade-old Sunset institution is still going strong, serving customer favorites like its silky pad see ew and spicy beef salad for takeout daily. Call in, walk up, or get delivery via Caviar. The smaller Inner Sunset location, on 9th Avenue, is also open." - Luke Tsai

Google
Old school restaurant in SF. I remember eating here 20+ years ago. The restaurant looks the same and its clean and tidy still after so many years. Parking is typically difficult, but it is Irving St. The food was delicious and spicy.

Google
The food was tasty. The potstickers were very delish, especially the sauce. Pad kee mao was plentiful with super tender beef. It was definitely on the sweeter side. Pad kaprow was pretty spicy even though we asked for mild so if you cannot take any heat, be aware. Overall, the food here is very flavorful and a good amount. Will come back to try other dishes.

Google
Great Thai restaurant in the Sunset. Started with the Thai ice tea which had a great ratio of sweetness. The angel wings came with more wings than I anticipated which was great. Highly recommend those 2 at the start. Then I got the beef curry which has the softest beef I had. Would recommend to share this item and possibly try and get another item off the menu. Great service

Google
The restaurant was empty, but you would think the waitress was being paid on commission or something. I guess it was all part of very fast service. From when we ordered to food at the table was 15 minutes...less. some people I guess want that.. also I know the restaurant is usually very busy. Anyhow everything we purchased was very good... Typical SF prices.

This used to be one of the best Thai restaurants in SF for many years. But this last visit indicates how far they have fallen over the years, we had Tom yum soup, angel wings, green curry chicken and the pad Thai. The Tom yum was very watery and had no depth while the angel wings were tough and dry. The green curry was thin and watery with little flavor. The only saving grace was the pad Thai which was good but not great. Very disappointing for this once landmark Thai restaurant!

Google
This is one of my go to Thai places but this time I tried their weekend special Hor Mok(steamed snapper) which was recommended to me by the staff. Very disappointed with the amount of snapper for a $23 dish. That dish has very less amount of fish and is mostly cabbage and curry. Taste - 5/5 Quantity - 2/5

Google
Good food, rude service We arrived at 8:50 PM and were told to order quickly because the kitchen closed at 9. We did. Food and bill came fast — but so did the pressure to pay, just minutes after we started eating. I politely asked if they could wait a few minutes, and the response was a firm no — because they were closing. When I pointed out that this was quite rude and uncomfortable, she insisted, saying “I told you.” No, she told us the kitchen was closing, not the restaurant. It’s a shame, because the food was genuinely good. But being rushed through dinner and pressured to pay before even finishing the first course completely ruined the experience. Won’t be going back.

Google
It's my second time to eat at Marnee Thai. First time was last year on a week night when it wasn't too busy. This time, there was a line because of the night market. Didn't take too long to get seated. We ordered the Tom Ka with chicken, the roasted duck, and pad kee mao. A lot of food for 2, but we really did enjoy everything. Food is so flavorful! My partner has been eating here since be was in middleschool and the quality has not changed.

Yelp
Don't remember the last time coming out to Irving for dinner. But glad we did :) Decided to go to an old favorite, here. So glad to see they still serve full house dinners at night even after COVID and with all the food deliveries that happen. We tried a few new dishes they had on their specials menu, Coconut hotcakes. Wow Carby and yummy! I think the gooey coconut on top with cantaloupe, taro, and coconut chunks were really good. it came out sizzling plate with 6 mini cakes and the waitress served 2 for each of us to start. I couldn't tell what the bottom was made of but something of a cakey and starchy consistency. Another standout dish that we ordered for the first time - Seabass with the garlic and black pepper sauce (on side). The best the best! but not meant for delivery moments i think. This is good for dining in while served fresh. Asked the sauce on the side and it ended up being mixed into all the other dishes we ordered. Ended up bringing it home because it was so good! It left us with memories of childhood with the fish sauce and yummy garlic smokey flavor. Super good, not spicy. And of course, crowd favorites we had to order - Pad Kaprow with pork. A tad salty there. Also, the Pad Fried Rice with chicken. Really good dinner, lots of authentic Thai flavors. What a treat :)

Yelp
Interestingly enough and much to my surprise, San Francisco is not really known for their Siamese/Thai food. In fact, when I go onto the Yelp app and search for an above average Thai restaurant in the city, very few places actually show up. Reason being is simply because this city is heavily saturated with some amazing Dim Sum, Japanese, Vietnamese, and dozens upon dozens of award-winning Chinese restaurants. However, paying a visit to "Marnee Thai" just might change my perspective of how amazing this place was. Located in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, this restaurant is situated directly on Irving St. and tucked in between 23rd & 24th Ave while only being a couple blocks away from Golden Gate Park. This is actually their original location as they also have a 2nd location (also in the Inner Sunset) that is on 9th Ave and close to Lincoln Way. Parking can be a challenge with the vast amount of businesses and boutiques surrounding this area. My lady and I came during the evening of Friday 11/29/2024 at around 5:25pm. The hours of operation are Wednesday through Monday from 11:30am-8:30pm while being closed on Tuesday. As soon as my lady and I walked in, it was very warm, cozy, and inviting. The interior layout showcases a distinctive A-frame roof design complete with wood paneling throughout. In fact, this place has a very strong Thailand presence to it as the artwork and walls looked as if we were dining out in Bangkok and not San Francisco. And even though we came during dinnertime on a Friday evening, there was no wait as we were seated by the hostess immediately. Since I already knew what I wanted, I settled with their "Pad Kee Mao"; this consisted of roasted duck, wide rice noodles, chili, garlic, tomatoes, and string beans. My lady went with the "Pad Se-Ew" which is one of the more popular Thai dishes; she chose chicken as her protein of choice. Her dish had a blend of pan-fried wide rice noodles, soy beans, broccoli, and scrambled eggs. And as a trademark of every Thai restaurant I visit, I went with their "Thai Iced Tea". Both of our meals arrived in around 8 minutes; very quick turnaround time. And best of all, our dishes were piping hot. I absolutely loved the seasoned, tender, and flavorful bits of my roasted duck as they were very generous with the meat portion. Since I do not like spicy, they were able to make it with a more milder chili flavor. It hit the spot in every way possible. All of the ingredient with the wide noodles had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I also tried some of her Pad Se-Ew and that too was top notch. Even my Thai iced tea had the perfect amount of tea without being overbearingly sweet. Again, the service and quality of food was excellent while not being too expensive. All in all, I loved "Marnee Thai" as this will be a future staple restaurant for my lady and I. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Yelp
Continues to be a favorite Thai restaurant in SF. I've been going to this restaurant for 15+ years. Awesome authentic Thai. Most dishes tend to be spicy so beware! :) Ambiance is beautiful and service is friendly. They have a serious take out operation too. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
On our way to wine country, we were passing by DTSF around early dinner time, and I remembered that Marnee was one of the best thai restaurants last time I was in the SFO area about 15 years ago. While this was not the location that a friend of mine introduced us to, we were highly-satisfied with 2 of the 3 dishes that we ordered. The Spicy Angel Wings with their signature chili-garlic/tamarind sauce and the Basa Fillet with garlic pepper sauce were very good. I highly recommend those but the roti was just ok.

Yelp
One of my old time favorite for the past many Years.. this place is one of the best Thai pioneer restaurant in San Francisco for this place to survived all this years means it has a strong loyal customers . Include me as one. Panang Beef as one of my favorite.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night at prime dinner time and there was a long line. However, the line went quickly and we probably waited around 20 minutes. The food also came fast. We ordered the pad see ew and hor mok (catfish curry that's only available on the weekends). It was very creamy with coconut but also packs a punch especially for someone who can't really handle spice. I would definitely come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
I heard good things about Marnee Thai and based on what we got, it's a 3.5 stars. Chicken Ka Prow: Packed with flavor, but also salt. It would be better if they dialed down on the salt. Basa Filet Spicy Mushroom Curry: A lightly fried basa filet smothered in a coconut-based curry sauce and packed with plenty of Shanghai tips. This was a fantastic dish. Vegetable Pad Kee Mao: The sauce was more sweet and tangy than expected, and not quite like other Pad Kee Mao dishes (no heat). Although we were happy with the amount of vegetables, the dish was underwhelming based on the taste and the noodles sticking together. Service was good, ambiance was cute and food was ok for us.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try out this place for a long time and I'm glad I finally got to. I came here with a friend for a late lunch on a Sunday and there was no wait. The service is fast and very friendly. They check up on you several times during your meal to make sure you're doing okay. The corn cakes is a must to get! The sizzling presentation is an experience of itself. If you like coconut milk this is the dish for you. There are bits of taro and corn in it. The roti here is very delicious. It's flaky and buttery. The curry sauce is very runny and the cucumber that accompanies it is light and refreshing. The duck salad was really good and refreshing because of the mint. The amount of duck was amazing and I am grateful that they did not skimp. The chicken pad se ew is my go to when I go to Thai restaurants. I was disappointed with this one. The consistency of the noodles seemed to be over cooked. It was also a lil salty, but still edible. The har mok is the special. Only available on the weekends. It is a fish dish that is wrapped in banana leaves. It was yummy and I advise for you to get it with steamed rice to seep in the sauce, otherwise it would be too salty on its own. Overall, I would love to come here again. There are several dishes I would still like to try. The restaurant is a little cramped, but enough space for you to bring family and friends.

Yelp
Back with a friend and enjoyed this cozy restaurant's authentic Thai food. We had a grilled pork with rice that resembled char siu pork. Pad Thai is a must here, as well as the mango salad. Portions are large and the two of us couldn't finish, so we boxed the rest home. Warm friendly service makes this place very welcoming. My friend had two Thai iced teas, she loves it so much! If you can take spicy, I think the dishes with more spices are also more flavorful.

Yelp
Marnee Thai is one of my favorite cozy places for Thai food in the Bay Area. The food is consistently good. Located in the Inner Sunset, lots of restaurants come and go but Marnee Thai has survived all the changes with quality in tact. I love their crab fried rice and green curry. Good service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food was great. Fried rice was yum. Service amazing. The restaurant indoors could use a makeover.

Yelp
This wasn't our intended dinner location as the place where we met was closed. Here's what we had, all family style: Appetizers 1. Roti Paratha with peanut curry sauce (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ykfgZ4I7p-19KvK9P59xGQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - These reminded me of Chinese green onion pancakes, layered triangles, that made for great dipping in the sauce. The pickled cucumber and carrot salad was a nice flavor and texture change. 2. Northern Thai style tea leaf salad (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8tIvZgB0EX2oto4zRqh5Uw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Having tried the Burmese version, I enjoyed this equally. It's described as chopped lettuce tossed with fermented tea leaves, peanuts, sunflower seeds, fried shallots, tomato, and dried shrimp and is lightly dressed with lemon and sea salt. 3. Pumpkin curry, yellow with chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=XoloKUb6JYJprxp7cwnGEQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Made with Kabocha squash, our dish had a generous amount of chicken. The green peas and red bell peppers slices added sweetness and crunch to this. We paired this with the side orders of jasmine rice bowls that we shared. Perfect for sopping up every last drop of the sauce. 4. Stir fried stewed pork belly (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3uXDCX7ebeaKlk3qNKE9YQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - On the specials menu, this was stir fried in a garlic chili sauce along with Thai herbs, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and baby corn. I struggled in figuring out the branch of peppercorns that garnished this. 5. Pad See Ew with beef (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pw9vz4BbFF_H6H1eODaNPA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Pan fried rice noodles (think Chinese chow fun) stir fried with soy bean, broccoli, and egg. The beef was tender, using flank steak slices. The best part was the char on the noodles, a credit to the high heat wok skills. Happy that two friends who are familiar with their food enjoyed this as something they hadn't previously tried. Dessert 6. Roti with ice cream (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oO7cIHbTa5lYrjAkwPPphw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Fearing this was redundant, I was glad that everyone enjoyed this. The coconut ice cream paired well with the crispy and sweet pastry, not identical to the savory appetizer roti. Having heard many good things about this restaurant, I enjoyed my maiden voyage here. We were seated on a wallside table on the right, perfect for our party of four. Our waiter and the hostess were helpful and responsive in removing empty plates and bowls and offering recommendations. I look forward to returning here to try other menu items. Dining at their other location on 9th Avenue is also an option though I'm unsure whether the menu is the same.

Yelp
Got to go pad kee Mao for dinner and it was delicious! I also ordered the samosas and was pleasantly surprised by the sweet flavor incorporated into the savory. The service was fast m, under 20 min,and the restaurant decor was warm and welcoming. Be careful about which location you order and pick up from! Both are on Irving street.

Yelp
Consistently delicious with warm service. I've never had a mediocre dish or rude service.

Yelp
Been coming to this Marnee since the 1990s and it still is a good, authentic place to enjoy traditional and unique Thai food made by a great family. I don't think the interior has changed so it's a little dated but the food is still as delicious as ever. The service is very attentive and the food comes out fairly fast. We recently ordered to go and food was ready in less than 10 minutes! The traditional dishes I love are the pad thai and Tom yum soup. The corn cakes are so good! The spicy chicken wings is a must! Their basa fillet with garlic is out of this world. Roasted duck and curries are also worth a try. Come with friends or family share the goodness family style meal that will never disappoint! I recommend this to anyone looking for great Thai food. This restaurant has been around for decades for a reason! 4 solid stars!

Yelp
All four of us thought the food and ambiance was great! We shared the following 4 entrees, 4 drinks, and 3 appetizers family style for a little lass than $200. Entrees (all delicious!) 1) Coconut Rice Noodles with shrimp, chicken and tofu. 2) Satay wrap 3) green curry (mild was spicy) 4) pad chah -#45 mixed seafood (mild was spicy) Appetizers (all so Yummy) - 2 Imperial Rolls - 1 pot stickers in green curry sauce Drinks (perfection) 1 Thai Tea 3 Limeades (not too sweet) Ambiance 1) Kind and timely service 2) Great art work 3) Gave our left overs to the homeless

Yelp
This place was a favorite many years ago. Maybe my tastes have changed and I've tried other Thai food places. The mango sticky rice was the most delicious. Everything else was standard. I felt disappointed in the shrimp and scallop dish. It wasn't as flavorful as I had hope.

Yelp
I haven't visited Marnee Thai in years. It used to be one of my favorite spots for Thai cuisine and one of the best in the city, often recommended to visitors. However, my latest experience was quite disappointing, possibly because I recalled it being a lot better in the past. We came for dinner on a Friday night, at around 630. Walked in for a table of 3, no reservations. Surprisingly, there was no wait at all, which struck me as odd considering this restaurant used to be bustling with a line stretching out the door. But not that night; I should have taken that as a warning sign. We ordered our regular favorites: Tom Ka Soup, Angel Wings, Pad See Eew, and Panang Beef Curry. Wanting to try something new, I asked the waitress for a recommendation, and she suggested Lemongrass Ginger Chicken. Why not? The Tom Ka Soup was the first dish to arrive. Typically, this soup has a light orange hue, resulting from the blend of coconut milk and spices. However, this time it looked more like Tom Yum and had an overwhelmingly sour flavor--too sour for my liking. On the contrary, the Pad See Ewe lacked flavor. Certain portions of the noodles were clumped together. The Beef Curry featured pieces of beef that were tough and dry. The most disappointing dish was the Lemongrass Ginger Chicken. There was something peculiar about it (possibly raw peppercorns), but it was absolutely inedible. I was strongly considering sending it back to the kitchen, yet we chose not to. My husband usually hates wasting food, but after dinner, the lemongrass ginger chicken remained largely untouched. When the waiter inquired if we needed a take-out box, we promptly declined, but he didn't seem to catch on. Speaking of the service, it left much to be desired. We had to request water refills and signal to someone to pick up our credit card for the bill. The restaurant wasn't even that crowded! Additionally, I was particularly let down by the so-called 'recommendation' of the lemongrass ginger chicken. That dish has a very distinct and acquired taste, which is definitely not for everyone.

Yelp
Everything went well, amazing food, clean restaurant, friendly staff. We had the coconut rice noodles, green curry, imperial rolls and satay wrap. Will come again when I am in the city.

Yelp
Walked in on a Thursday at 7:30pm as a group of four. The restaurant was half full so we were seated right when we arrived. Food: papaya salad - pretty good, a savory spicy and refreshing start to our meal, nice combination of textures with the shaved papaya that was well pounded, tomato, peanuts, long beans and small dried shrimp for garnish Panang beef - layered in flavor, curry was well balanced and not very spicy with creamy nutty notes, beef was fall apart tender and delicious overall, wish this was slightly hotter in eating temperature Morning glory stir fry with tofu - our favorite dish of the night, you can really taste the fire from the wok, came out piping hot, perfectly seasoned nice and savory, morning glory was crisp tender, and tofu had great texture. Pad garlic shrimp - well prepared, shrimp was tender with a nice bounciness not overcooked lots of garlic and black pepper Mango Sticky Rice - super sweet and fragrant mango with warm coconut sticky rice, subtle sweetness, the perfect way to finish the meal Service fantastic, the servers were really sweet, great recommendations, quick and efficient. Pretty lean team but we felt we got just the right amount of attention. Overall a favorite spot for Thai food in SF both the 9th and the Irving location are great. If you want solid dependably good Thai this is the spot. Give them a try, the specials and curries are particularly good, don't skip the morning glory if you see it on the specials.

Yelp
Food was awesome. We ordered vegan mango rice, vegan pumpkin curry, chicken yellow curry, bbq chicken and shrimp pad Thai. Will definitely come back for more. Service was phenomenal, they were attentive without hovering, and very friendly. Ambiance was great, very cozy!

Yelp
Always excellent Thai food. Their vegetarian and non veg dishes are delicious and also great value. I love their desserts too. My friend lived around the corner and recommended this place years ago and I keep coming back to enjoy their food long after my friend moved away from SF. Keep up the good work Marne Thai!

Yelp
What a hidden gem! It's nestled between a grocery store and another store. Very authentic Thai food with plenty of vegetarian options that don't compromise the flavor. Their corn fritters are delish. We tried the pad Thai, Thai fried rice and yellow curry with vegetables. All delicious! The service was quick and friendly. It's a small space with pretty Thai paintings on the wall and fresh orchids at every table.

Yelp
My favorite Thai place in the city! The coconut-cream-corn things are incredible and I'm tempted to eat them all.
google avatar

Yelp
My absolute favorite for thai food. i recently tried their homemade hotcakes made of coconut and loved them. They were fresh, soft, light in weight and yummy. I ordered them via doordash. I have also been to this restaurant location near Golden gate park. If you want thai, yo've got to go with marnee thai.

Yelp
Ordered online ... the site actually have a count down timer for your food to be ready for pickup. Let us see how accurate it is. The timer said 5:16PM minutes... actual pickup is 5:16PM...way to go Marnee Thai!! Parking is one of the biggest problem with coming here... get here early. We ordered the following: Spicy Angel Wings: love the fried basil. Deep fried wings, then sauteed in a chili garlic sauce. The wings are flavorful but a bit dry today. Kang Ka Ree - Chicken (Yellow Curry): even though it was suppose to be "Not Spicy" it was bit spicy... just a bit. The potatoes were really tender. Note the curry is watery, so use some white rice to absorb up the curry. Pad Se Ew - Beef: Think beef chow fun. The beef is tender. I really love the semi-cooked onions, the crunchiness really compliments the fried fat noodles. Flavor is mild and sweet. Thai Style Fried Rice - Roast Pork: Cannot go wrong with fried rice... there are slices of tomatoes hidden under the mounds of rice. The roast pork was pretty good. Love the fresh cilantro. Staff was friendly and even offered a small cup of Thai Iced Tea when I went in to pickup the food... much thanks for that!!

Yelp
Narrow deep space as one can see the bustling kitchen with its fluorescent lights. Greeted promptly. We ordered a sweet n spicy sticky appetizer (non stuffed angel wings) and two lunch options (pad ginger, pad). We enjoyed the Spicy Angel Wings, fried chicken wings made with a chili-garlic sauce and fried basil, my personal addiction. Comfortable and amiable service staff. Seatings in central aisles. Few tables at the rear of the restaurant in the opposite side. Small, functional space with spot lights. Food is the rock star here. No nonsense interior, where quality and value of food shines. From dish to dish, Marnee Thai pleases all palettes.

Yelp
a smaller, more homey restaurant when we went (it wasn't as busy) and one of our fav Thai places in the city so far. lots of flavor in every dish! the mango sticky rice was delish and the best way to close the meal! mangos were so fresh!!
google avatar

Yelp
A great local Thai spot. A wide variety of dishes all done really well. I really enjoyed the fried ride and pad kee mao. Portions are really generous. The soup was served in this big pot, poured out to smaller bowls at the table. The vegetarian version of the soup was perfectly savory for a rainy night - but definitely on the saltier side and also had large chunks of unchewable hard lemon grass. The mango fried rice was also great, not different at all from the regular fried rice just with mango chunks. Overall I think this place has great Thai classics to choose from, offerings on the variations of the classic dishes may not be as different/unique though.

Yelp
This is for the location on Irving. I previously had a mixture of experiences here but went back on faith and the food was great. I think it was number 38. Super fresh and delicious. Please support this old school institution.

Yelp
Randomly found this thai restaurant on yelp and the food was so good! The service was terrible with the waitress being borderline rude making us feel very rushed to order and finish our food. Along with that, there were flies everywhere which made the restaurant have a "dirty" feeling. The food was tasty which is unfortunate. I would recommend this place for take out rather than dine in if you're looking for tasty and authentic thai food.

Yelp
Went to marnee Thai last weekend to with the family and overall enjoyed myself with service, but the food was a mix of hits and misses. This place was definitely crowded and thankfully we made a reservation which helped. We ended up ordering: * angel wings - crispy sweet wings which I loved, this is a popular dish there *chicken satay - this was also yummy but I wish the meat was more marinated and a bit more juicy * chicken fried rice - this was simple yet delicious, everyone on the table enjoyed this *shrimp pineapple fried rice - this was also good but the rice was a bit different, I personally liked the chicken one more but this was not bad *panang curry - this was overall okay we got it with chicken but the curry was not as flavorful as I am Use it * Green curry - this was decent *pad Thai - everyone enjoyed this dish, on the sweeter side and it's yummy! Overall the food was average so worth going only if in the area and craving Thai food.

Yelp
Yummy non traditional . More French influences. Had sea bass in curry mouse with banana leaf And corn fritters . Satay lettuce was the bomb

Yelp
Food was really yummy! We got there only an hour before closing so I was worried about how long food would take, but it came out very fast. We got the green curry and chicken pad kee mao, both really good will definitely order again. The restaurant was quaint, felt very lively and comfortable to be in. It's a bit out of the way for me but will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
loved the pad see ew here. generous portion and the noodles were the perfect chewy texture and the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. every time i get thai food, i always get pad see ew so i've tried a ton of places around the bay, but this was one of the best. i also shared the tom yum soup with my friends and the server was kind enough to portion the soup for us into our little bowls. would definitely come back!

My go-to place if I want Thai food in the Outer Sunset. I love how they have their usual staple items but also seasonal items if you want to try something new. It's been a while since I've done dine in as I usually get things to go. Service is pretty quick though on busy nights it does make it a little hard to maneuver around the tables and seats as the place is small. My recommended items: - mango fried rice - hotcakes - summer rolls

Yelp
Generous portions but didn't have as much intensity as I expected. I and my friends stopped by this cute restaurant on a Saturday for a late lunch, and had no wait which was great! We were quickly settled and ordered a variety of their dishes, I ended up getting the pad see ew with roast duck, maximum spiciness, with most of my friends also getting noodle dishes. The dishes themselves had really nice portion sizes but the taste lacked severely in my opinion. Despite asking for the highest spiciness as well as receiving additional spicy powder and flakes, I found none of the options to provide any spiciness at all to add to the dish. The flavor of the dishes was okay, with pad see ew or other noodle dishes, usually you should see slight burns on the noodles that add to the flavor of the dish and brings some texture in, but I didn't find those on my noodles. Additionally, the bowl has a sauce on the bottom that I found to be overbearing. All in all, I would personally not recommend the noodle dishes but maybe it was just one unlucky experience. I think this place is convenient and safe but not too much past that

Yelp
Maybe my expectations were too high due to the Marnee name, but the overall experience was kinda average. Service was good. The food was just average. Even the coconut noodles were just uninspired. Hor mok was a bit salty. Maybe we came on an off day?

Yelp
lipstick stains on 2 of our water glasses & the food was really bland and disgusting. we are so hungry & all of the food was so difficult to even eat. we got summer rolls, veg curry w rice, chan pad po, and all of it was so inedible even the rice was bad. we hadn't eaten it yet and tried to return it for a refund but they wouldn't let us.

Yelp
Visited today for the Thai Banana Curry; choice of yellow, red or green curry. choice of protein: tofu, chicken, pork or duck or shrimps. The bananas are really plantains and cooked just right. The yellow curry got the nod and came out slightly sweet, creamy and barely spicy. The brown rice was yummy, earthy, al dente and tasted good. The hot tea was good if a bit different tasting. Customer service: good.

Yelp
I've been living in this neighborhood and finally decided to try this Thai place. Order the larb salad and was shocked by the portion, there were so much meat and it was so worth it for the price! Also got the mango sticky rice as a dessert afterwards and it was just the perfect meal to eat on a gloomy day in SF!

Yelp
I was a bit apprehensive to eat at this place because the first time I had Thai food (at a different restaurant) was a bit disappointing. Marnee Thai, however, completely changed my perspective on Thai food and I really enjoyed what we ordered. upon entering, the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. My boyfriend and I were seated in the corner of the restaurant, and taken care of by the sweetest server. all of the portions are shareable, but can be eaten yourself if you have a big appetite. we decided to share our food so we only ordered a few items. we started off with the angel wings appetizer which was so juicy. The pad Thai was delicious and slightly spicy because that's how my boyfriend wanted it lol. the pad prew wharn was yummy and light. The pineapple is the perfect sweet fruit to balance out the savory flavors. I only got a photo of the chicken because we were so hungry and once we started eating I forgot to take pictures of everything else. The food came out pretty quickly and we didn't have to wait long to be seated (this was on a saturday around 6pm).

Yelp
We wanted to venture out to the Sunset to try some new places and after walking into three food places, we ended up at Marnee. We got seated right away and ordered a few dishes. All the dishes were good especially the barbecue chicken. It was nice and tender. We opted our of dessert but the mango with sticky rice sounded good. The ladies working here were very nice and friendly.

Yelp
When family come and visit, this is the place to we would bring them. I would agree, that the food here reminds us of being back home. Their service is on point and they are extremely welcoming, polite and friendly! We love the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant. Their menu options are plentiful, plus we order off menu and they were able to accommodate which is another extra star for us. LoL!!! We love that the owner comes around and sits with us to talk story. She would share her stories about traveling back home to the "Mother Land!" Places she would recommend us to see when traveling there. Back to the most important thing here. Her dishes are always tasty and delicious!! I would recommend pretty much everything on the menu! The soups are perfectly paired with the exact amount of flavor. The stir fry are made to look and taste delicious!! Enough of me ranting about this joint. Go! Just go and try this one out! You shall not be disappointed, I promise you!

Yelp
I last ate here over 20 years ago when I lived in the hood, and I can't believe I've waited so long to return! It could be having moved to the burbs, and then having had a picky kid during the past decade. However, she really enjoyed the food, even being a little spicy (I ordered mild). Yellow curry chicken, duck and pineapple fried rice and a pad khee mao. great service, cozy place, good portions and good value.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant during dinner time. I've been here a few times before. It's a great spot for authentic Thai food at a reasonable price. The menu includes most of the dishes you'd expect to find at a Thai restaurant, and they also offer various types of noodle soup with a couple of noodle options to choose from. I came specifically for their roast duck noodle soup. The duck is boneless, and the soup has a delightful Chinese herbal flavor. I ordered it with egg noodles. The portion is generous--almost too much noodle for me. The soup is delicious and served hot, and the roast duck is also very tasty. The service was excellent. Whenever I visit, I usually order this or another favorite dish.

Yelp
There was plenty of seating for a table of two on Friday at 6:30 so we got seated right away. The ambiance is nice and homey and the staff were all sooo friendly and helpful! The food was amazing! We ordered the hotcakes, hor mok, and chan pad poo and they were all super yummy. The coconut flavor of the hotcakes topped with taro, pumpkin, and corn were very nice. The hor mok was our favorite dish, the snapper tasted so good with the curry and the chan pad poo did not disappoint either. Definitely one of the best thai restaurants in SF!
