This was genuinely the yummiest meal, their dal, mixed veggies, naan, and chicken dishes were all incredible!! The staff was also so kind and helpful, absolutely wonderful customer service. The price isn't terrible, it's also in a great location with a public bathroom right by (that's how I found it). It's in the middle of the SF Centre food court, so not the most gorgeous setting, but there's AC and lots of seating. Highly recommend it!

We love this incredible food court gem for their rich, flavorful Pakistani Halal food. From the moment we step up to the counter, we are greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere—the kind that only a family-run establishment can offer. The menu is a feast of aromatic spices and time-honored recipes, each dish showcasing the depth and authenticity of Pakistani flavors. The lamb korma is a masterpiece—tender, slow-cooked lamb bathed in a velvety, spice-infused gravy that pairs perfectly with garlic naan or fragrant basmati rice. The chicken tikka masala delivers a bold and comforting punch, with perfectly grilled chicken enveloped in a creamy, tomato-based sauce that is just the right balance of smoky and tangy. Our favorite is their lamb shank - braised to perfection, the meat falls effortlessly off the bone, infused with a rich blend of spices that make every bite melt in your mouth. Beyond the food, the real heart of this place is the exceptional service. The owners—a warm and kind-hearted husband-and-wife duo—bring an unmistakable passion to their craft, treating every customer like family. Their years of expertise shine through in every dish, and their genuine hospitality makes us feel right at home. Love!

Google
Great food, lovely people and fair price. I stayed in the city for 5 days and ate at the place twice. Everything was great, but the lamb was super nice. It's really good when you find good food for a good price. Highly recommend

Google
I was not impressed but then again not surprised. Good portions but far from authentic. The garlic naan bread was tasteless and my lamb lacked flavor and that spicy kick I looked forward to. It was definitely not worth the $23 I spent on the lunch special and of course the atmosphere was depressing couped up in the corner of a ghost town people call a mall.

Google
Unpretentious and simply delicious! I had the Palak Paneer and Channa Masala vegetarian combo - two of my favorite dishes and they were amazing! The chai tea was freshly made upon order and it was the best chai I have ever had - the spices were subtle and powerful at the same time, unlike other chai tea I have had. Other chai tea I will have must now meet this standard. A must try!!

A Hidden Gem with Heart – Truly Unforgettable I visited MashAllah Halal Pakistani Food on one of the hardest days of my life. I only had $5.32 to my name and was quietly asking places if they had anything I could afford. When I approached the counter here, the woman looked at me with kindness and simply said, “No problem.” She handed me a full plate of delicious lamb and a soda—completely free. As someone who’s worked in restaurants all my life, even as a manager, I’ve given food to those in need. But this was the first time I was on the receiving end—and I will never forget it. The food was amazing—flavorful, tender lamb with bold, spicy seasoning (just the way I love it). If you prefer something milder, I’m sure they have options too. What touched me most wasn’t just the food—it was her compassion. All she asked in return was, “Please pray for my husband.” I’m living through something similar. My husband is at home right now recovering from a motorcycle accident. He has 14 broken bones and multiple compound fractures. I’m constantly worried about him, and when she asked for prayers, I felt her pain deep in my heart. Please support this place—not just because the food is incredible, but because it’s run by people with truly generous hearts. And yes, please say a prayer for her husband.

Google
A total hidden gem in the basement of the San Francisco city center mall. I stumbled upon this while visiting and the service and food were excellent. Served hot and fresh the chicken had loads of flavor. It’s a relatively no-frills space with counter service, but the friendliness of the owner will make you come back for more, and the food would hold its own in any other standalone restaurant

Google
The food taste so good and its pure paki authentic… The food resembles just like the restaurant name “MASHALLAH” HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLACE FOR HALAL DESI FOOD.

Yelp
Great Pakistani food in the old Westfield food court. The mall is pretty empty and sad now but they still have some good food spots. Mashallah Halal is one of them! I got the lamb korma and eggplant curry combo and a aloo paratha. The curry came with a side of rice and it was a good amount of food. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed the eggplant curry. My favorite was the aloo paratha! It was big and freshly fried. It's a savory pancake filled with potatoes, very tasty! It was a little oily but I really enjoyed it. They have a lot of vegetarian options too. The service was great. I couldn't eat all the paratha so I asked if they could wrap up the left which they helped with.

Yelp
Had movie tickets at Metreon and usually hit Westfield SF Center's food court. Although the shopping center is dying, there are still a few good spots to eat. MHFP is one of the. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was surpringly good. Bonus: the garlic naan was also very good. I don't have high expectations for mall food. The Chicken Tikka is a good place and I will probably eat there again whenver I take in a movie. One pic for one meal.

Yelp
Chickpea and fried bread Lamb chops We probably should have ordered the curries for a little better experience maybe Chickpeas was decent Biryani rice was tasty but not fresh Lamb chops felt old and heavily marinated. Fried bread was not fried right Didn't see a Pakistani or indian in the kitchen. Service was amazing by the workers though

Yelp
The abandoned Westfield mall is a crazy setting for what may be the best takeout Pakistani food that I've had in America. It felt like getting there was an episode of "The Last of Us," but the payout was huge. I got the steamed lamb shank. Oh my god. The meat is incredibly tender (like almost fall off the bone tender), juicy, and flavorful. I picked that bone clean. It was served with a very tasty sauce over rice with fried shallots, cardamom, and small pieces of preserved lemon rind. I have never eaten so well in a mall. I have never had a lamb shank so good at that price. Lots of firsts with this meal, but it will not be my last time going.

Yelp
The restaurant is located at the mall. Food court level ground. The food was amazing. The price is very good for the taste and the amount of the food. The service was nice and humble. Very friendly. They gave us to try their Halim Soup. For free. Never try that before but it was so delicious. Very tasteful. The beef and lentils melted together. The ambience is good enough. Need more lights I think. Next time visiting union square, better to go there.

Yelp
Combo lamb korma and chana. I like the chana. Lamb was salty and had a kick. Lamb had 4 big chunks of meat. Rice has a nice flavor. Chai was $4. Total $23. I will try these another time. The lassi was $6.50. Naan $2. Lots of different combos. Lots of vegetarian options. The lady was super nice. She offered to let me taste.

Yelp
This place is located on the ground level, and as part of the food emporium in SF centre mall. I've tried their lamb korma, very tasty with rice. They also have the lamb shank as specialty, which is not listed on their regular menu.

Yelp
Swung by IKEA and decided to give this place a try! Got the lamb korma and chicken tikka masala combo with a generous heap of rice and boy is it delicious! Between the two, the chicken is the standout, but both are very tasty and despite it costing $18 it is pretty generously sized. The owner seems very friendly and offered to give samples as well if you are on the fence. The menu is a little confusing but you basically can choose combos of whatever 2 dishes you want and get rice with them. The S.F. centre is lucky to have Mashallah and good on S.F. Chronicle for featuring them; it's very cute they have the article proudly on display. Hopefully this mall will attract a few more standouts like this one and it'll turn around the corner like Stonestown. I guess I know where to nom alongside some IKEA shopping!

Yelp
Wow! We weren't expecting such great food at a food court! This is restaurant quality food and they give you so much of it! The elderly gentleman who works there (owner?) is very sweet. We got the lamb shank and the lamb ground beef kabob (not sure if that was the right name). Both were delicious, tho the ground lamb was a bit too spicy for me. The lamb shank was excellent. But my favorites were the sides. Their "special" rice has so much flavor without being too spicy. Their chickpea is also delicious and I'm not usually someone who likes rice or chickpeas THAT much. There was also yogurt and some other veggies that were all delicious on the plates. This mall is struggling. Come support these ppl at the food courts. We have been here twice since we discovered Mashallah. Will go back soon. So good!

Yelp
We came here on a weekend afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by this little place that used to be a food truck. Our friend ordered first and she had the chicken tikka masala with rice and plain naan. The naan was super fresh and soft. When we ordered, we got the tikka masala plate with the Chana masala. The flavors were so good. However, we ordered garlic naan and there was a notable difference of how much more fresh her naan was. Our naan was soggy and drier. Regardless, the food was excellent and we received the food quickly. The ambience is at a good court, so you make the best of it. At around $20 a plate, it is pricier but it was great that we could have two different entrees through their combination plates.

Yelp
The only stall at the Westfield food court that's worth making a trip to! The service is welcoming and homey, will let you try every sample they have without a fuzz. All their curries are incredible but I always end up ordering the lamb shank $24. The meat literally falls right off the bone and has a hint of curry flavor. It also came with some lamb korma sauce and a huge bed of seasoned rice. It's enough to feed 2!

Yelp
Love this place. Food is amazing. Come here from Embarcadero for lunch time to time. Brought colleagues once and everyone enjoyed. Can't go wrong with this place.

Yelp
I really, really wanted to love this place considering the glowing reviews and the charming service. The portions are very solid, but the pricing was a little high for food court options, though I suppose it is still located in downtown SF. The food court itself was a little oddly warm and the tables weren't the cleanest with some homeless folks wandering around, so not the most comfy spot. Chicken Tikka Masala (2.75/5): This was my least favorite of the items I tried. The chicken was overcooked and very chewy. Sauce tasted of tomato with not enough spices and was the most okay tikka masala sauce you'll get. Lamb Korma (3.5/5): The cook on the lamb wasn't super impressive, but it was tender enough and the flavor was a little more spiced than the tikka masala Garlic Naan (3.75/5): It's pretty hard to mess up garlic naan and this one is pretty much on the dot what you want. Could have a little more garlic, but the bread is yeasty and has a slight toast on it.

Yelp
WHAT A FIND. My favorite place is Salems in Pittsburgh, Pa. This is a very close second. First of all it is in the bottom floor of the mall, on the east side. Somehow I had gotten sick on my birthday and now all I wanted was this. We had the lamb korma and chicken Tikka masala meal. Hubby and I split that for dinner and still have enough for another dinner. Still recovering, two days later, I am now into the lamb shank. Yum yum yum. And plenty of that left over too. We don't all have deep pockets. But we appreciate a good well prepared meal. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Good food, good value. This was my birthday meal. Good choice. I WILL BE BACK. Thank you Chronicle for reviewing this. It is simply wonderful.

Yelp
After reading about Mashaallah Halal Pakistani Food in the Chronicle, we decided to try it. Walking into the (sad) San Francisco Centre, one might be tempted to turn back. It looks like the mall is about to shut down. Keep walking towards the food court - you won't be disappointed! Mashaallah was everything the Chronicle team said it would be. We were only two people, so we couldn't try many things. We settled on the combination Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala and a side of Dal Makhni and naan. The food was incredible. Both the lamb and chicken were very tender, and the flavor and spice level were perfect. The owners weren't there, but the people working there were very welcoming and helpful. We can't wait to go back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Need a reason to go to the Westfield Mall? Look no further than Mashallah Halal Food in their food court! I came here before seeing a musical in the Theatre District and it was quick, filling, and yummy. The Chicken biryani with Steam Roast Leg quarter $18 was cooked to perfection. I loved the rice, the spices, and the sauces. Service was helpful, knowledgeable, and prompt. Will be back!

Yelp
The Pakistani food was incredibly fresh and delicious! If you enjoy bold, spicy flavors, this is the perfect spot. My chicken tandoori was not oily at all...it had a wonderfully fresh taste with no odors. The customer service was excellent; they were flexible with my preference for a smaller portion without rice.

Yelp
Discovered this place by chance. They have various vegetarian options. Really flavorful, too. Service staff is courteous and explains what ingredients are in their dishes. It's a mall eatery but it shouldn't be judged as such. They have good food items which are inexpensive and that's what matters to me.

Firzok A.

Yelp
Amazing food. It was a pleasure to find such a great Pakistan restaurant in downtown San Francisco. All the 4 dishes I ordered were delicious. Friendly and efficient staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Will come back again InshaAllah.

Yelp
Mashallah is a hidden gem! Located on the bottom floor of the mall, it's easy to miss. Their menu is simple and gives you only a few options to choose from. Luckily, they all seem solid! I went with the Vegetarian plate consisted of rice and two sides. I went with the Channa Masala and Palak Paneer. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. The presentation was eye-catching and the food even better! I found the rice to be some of the best I had. Perfectly fluffy, it went wonderfully with both sides. I don't usually like Palak Paneer since I'm not a fan of spinach, but I thoroughly enjoyed the one here. The flavors are subtle and yet blend together perfectly in a smooth buttery gravy. My one small wish is that there was more paneer. The Channa Masala was equally flavorful, but next time I will probably just go with the Palak Paneer. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and seemed to have been made recently. Enjoyable all around! I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Decided to try this place after seeing the article about it in the SF Chronicle. I had high expectations going in due to the article, and they were definitely exceeded! I got the lamb shank, which was extremely flavorful and quite tender. It also came with lamb korma and rice, both of which were delicious. The entree was $22 but the portion was huge so I ended up getting two meals out of it, which was great. The woman who owns the restaurant was really friendly and eager, offering her suggestions for which dishes to get, and even allowed us to try samples of different dishes. Part of my satisfaction with Mashaallah Halal Pakistani Food comes from my low standard from the food emporium at Westfield in general; I feel like most of the places I've tried so far tend to overcharge for small, low quality servings of food. In comparison, this place is a gem.
google avatar

C J.

Yelp
Over the years I have decided on the 2-3 Pakistani/Indian places and I rarely ventured outside of my go-to's, until I tried this place...Oh boy, Mashallah outshines them all. All the dishes I normally order from other places - they are better here. It's in a food court so the environment isn't fine dining, but the friendliness of the staff more than makes up for it. Whether it's eat-in or delivery, they do it all very well. Give this place a try!

Ryan D.

Yelp
The location is unsafe and unsanitary. Small rodents are under the tables and counters, even on the kitchen floor when the kitchen is closed. Also, eating at the tables near Mashaallah, one random person unexpectedly scared me while I was eating my food one day, and another day, one person purposely bumped into me. I recently heard that they will get a brand new location a few blocks away, which could be safer and cleaner than the one inside SF Centre's Food Emporium.
google avatar

Kam L.

Yelp
Home cooking in the mall. Delicious quick lunch when I was in a hurry. Had the lamb wrap and it was big enough for two meals. Will definitely be back. What a gem to find and very homemade feel.
google avatar

Binh P.

Yelp
Was excited to try a new place for Indian since it's got such high ratings. I can see the potential, but because it's cafeteria style, everything is completely mild. My favorite thing might've just been that chutney that comes with the plate of samosas. I decided to try their chicken tikka masala and palak paneer with the samosas and chana masala. All the curries were smooth and creamy, but just lacking spice. I wish they were able to customize spice levels because after a while, it just felt like eating baby food. The chana masala tasted like refried beans, the chicken tikka meat was tender but dry, and the palak paneer only came with one piece of paneer. The rice was pretty fluffy and chutney was tasty though. For about $30 for my order, there are better places downtown. But if you can't handle spice, this is the place for you.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here from watching the chronicle review. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCSNg8rJtTQ/?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA== I met the lovely owners who were incredibly sweet, who just had a way of making me feel like I was an old friend. I ordered the tandoori chicken, rice and chickpeas with naan. Everything was delicious, flavorful and tender. I definitely recommend.

Kristin K.

Yelp
My daughter and I were looking to eat a quick bite at San Francisco Centre. We found a hidden gem in SF that had the most fantastic Pakistani food. I ordered a plate with three options: Palak Paneer, Bengan Bharat (eggplant) & Chana Masala. All three entrees were so tasty. The Palak Paneer was the best I've tasted. Instead of Nan, the owner recommended Plain Pratha and it was awesome! Will definitely eat there again and I will recommend to all my friends.
google avatar

Alexus W.

Yelp
This has to be the freshest most delicious food in the City. I travel over 50miles just for this food and the family. I love them so much. Thank you for being a great part of the City. They bring me so much joy and are worth every penny
google avatar

Alexa V.

Yelp
Me & my friend came here and we enjoyed the food! Staff was really kind and gave us samples since we were indecisive about what we wanted to get. We ate there and it didn't take too long for our food to be ready. The food is already made but if you order the Naan they make it fresh. The tikka masala and the mango lassi were really good. The mango lassi was nice and thick! I don't know what the other thing on my plate was called but I didn't enjoy it as much as the chicken tikka. It has flavor but no flavor at the same time.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Surprisingly good for mall food. I debated between their tikka masala or their grilled chicken and went with the grilled chicken rice plate ($17). Huge plate, tons of chicken, spicy sauce and chickpeas. The mango lassi ($6.50) was really refreshing and not at all sweet. Fresh ingredients, herbs & spices. I would definitely come back for lunch!
google avatar

Murtuza H.

Yelp
Pretty good! Honestly the price is steep. Not a place to come if you're looking for a quick cheap meal. It's a lot of food though and I felt full. The Chana was great. The beef chapli was pretty good! A little chewier than I like but it still was a great portion size and I overall loved the meal. Service was good! The chicken is not breast meat so be aware if you order the grilled chicken. The ambiance is as interesting as you can imagine when you're in the basement of a mall / train station :) I would probably not get this again but I did enjoy it!
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Great food! So aromatic! Had their lunch special. $16 for 2 curries, rice, choice of naan, and bottled water. Warm curry and rice is great for those cold sf days. If I am in the area again, definitely would recommend this spot.
google avatar

Andre B.

Yelp
I had the wonderful pleasure of dining here. The man saw I was hungry and gave me a free sample. It was so incredibly good that I bought a plate. I had half chicken half lamb and the food was very good. While I am not a Muslim the meat is Halal so adherent Muslims can enjoy this wonderful food.

Mohammad K.

Yelp
I came here for conference and decided to give this place a try being from NY I expected something different. I ordered Channa Butara with halwa and wasn't really happy with what I got. The channa was fresh but butara's were fried more than once or they took them out of pre packaging and just fried them. They were really hard and should have been soft. The halwa also tasted like it was warmed up from packaged container. My friend had Chapli kebab and those tasted amazing. The environment was in the mall so nothing to complain there. The staff was nice and helpful to my friends in choosing their meals. Price was too expensive for the type of food we ordered and received.
google avatar

Polina L.

Yelp
To be honest, I didn't want to eat this kind of food that day because I haven't had much desire to eat rice lately. I didn't care much because I also wasn't really hungry, so I told my husband that he could have what he wanted himself. He chose Pakistani cuisine. He enjoyed every bite of the dish, and I tried some too (but that was only because of my gastronomic mood that day). The food was delicious. What I like about their place is that the workers are all from Pakistan or a country with a kindred tradition. It's a sign of quality and closeness to the original flavor of the foods. I liked that the women were working in headscarves to keep the hair from accidentally falling on the food. So, everything was clean. To sum up, when I'm in a different mood, I'll definitely want to come here to eat something I've never ate before.

Yelp
We stopped by the Westfield Mall food court to grab lunch, and decided to give this place a try. The prices aren't cheap (each plate is going to run you 17-18 dollars), but the food quality certainly makes up for it! The staff is also so friendly, and pretty clearly family owned. I got the chicken plate, and it was great. Super flavorful, and not too oily, which is something I feel like happens often with Pakistani/Indian food. Maybe a bit on the dry side, and probably because it's a mall food court where the chicken sits there for a bit. The rice was super fresh and fluffy; genuinely some of the best restaurant rice I've ever had. The chickpeas were also fantastic, really yummy and flavorful! Portions are crazy big as well. Definitely enough to fill me completely, and if you have less of an appetite, probably will be too much for you. Will be stopping by again!

Vishwas T.

Yelp
Owners are great! Food not so much! Food was too oily and bhatura from chole bhatura was over fried and had become stiff.. Bay Area has lot of great options of chole bhatura but not here.

Paul S. S.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service was amazing. Friendly, quick, and welcoming! I am glad I ate here - five stars!
google avatar

Kheloud I.

Yelp
Good service. Large portions of food. Halal and owners are very sweet. Lots of seating area to eat as it's a food court style.
google avatar

Steven O.

Yelp
This is a review for their new brick and mortar location in The Westfield mall. I haven't visited the food court in a while and usually try the new entrants when I spot them. I got the chicken Tikka masala + lamb curry combo. Flavor was solid but nothing extraordinary for Pakistani food. The portion size was also middle of the pack. I thought the meal a bit pricey for food court food. I did however appreciate the fresh onions they offer as a side to the dish. That was a nice touch!
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Mashaallah started out as a food truck but now has a stall in the food court of Westfield San Francisco. Despite its humble appearance, this small business offered some of the best Pakistani food I've had in the city from its steam table of freshly-prepared meat and vegetable curries. A star dish here (which came recommended by Soleil Ho) was the Lamb Korma, made of super tender, lean, meaty chunks of lamb in a spiced curry. On my combination plate, I also got the Chana Masala (chickpea curry) and the Palak Paneer (cheese cubes in a velvety puréed spinach sauce), served along with rice. Every item was delicately spiced and flavorful without being too salty, and the garnishes of raw onion and cilantro brought out the freshness of the dishes. On the side, I also had an order of Garlic Naan (another star item), which was perfectly soft and chewy and had a wonderful flavor and aroma from the garlic and herbs. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so friendly and hospitable too!
google avatar

Felix N.

Yelp
The best lamb shank in the SF Bay Area. The owners keep a strict quality standard and pay attention to detail for every dish, and every customer. The mall ambience isn't super fancy, but I left a pretentious rooftop party early just to enjoy this lamb shank, because I wanted to feel at home. Thank you for your generous hospitality and care towards your customers.
google avatar

Beckley A.

Yelp
Woooow! This is the best food I've tried. I ordered lamb shank and mango lassi. The lamb shank came with soup that was so delicious. Great service and friendly atmosphere! Overall I couldn't finish it all, and I'm definitely coming here back!

Zachary J.

Yelp
Just had a bland, greasy chicken tikka masala here. Almost no flavor and it looked grey not orange. Plus a Chai that was undrinkable. Plastic flatware was flimsy and they gave one really cheap napkin. Service was friendly and fast. Ambiance is typical westfield food court which is depressingly empty and no natural lighting. Anyway 1 chicken tikka masala with rice and 1 tiny chai was $27. I am puzzled by all the glowing reviews. 3-stars because I am feeling generous.

Maliha Q.

Yelp
excellent food! we tried lamb shank and chicken tikka , and paratha roll . they were all great The owner is very sweet and plenty of space to sit . food was served in about 10-12 minutes of ordering it this is in Bloomingdale food court in union square SF
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
The vegan combo is good. This 5 starts is more for the service and kindness the staff provided!
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Best food court in the Westfield. A little on the pricier side but quality makes up for it. Portion is large and filling. I had the vegan plate and it came with optional onions and pickles on the side.
google avatar

Saachi G.

Yelp
- Would not recommend coming here - Was very disappointed with their garlic naan for $3 that they were not making fresh, it's store bought freezer garlic naan that they just reheat. Very big difference between freshly baked food and reheated food

Yelp
Food: 4 Decor: 2 Service: 5 Located in the food court on the bottom level, I came here with a friend to grab a quick dinner before we got drinks at Local Edition. It was super hard to find this place since it wasn't listed on the Westfield directory. We ended up walking around Bloomingdale's for 15 minutes before someone told us that it was in the food court. Vegetable Samosa Pastry turnovers stuffed with potatoes, peas, and spices $9 4/5. Pretty good. Came as 2 samosas, and they were piping hot and tasty. Naan Garlic Butter Naan -- $3 4/5. Delicious, although I ran out and wish I had more. (3) Lamb Korma w/ chicken tikka masala & rice, $18 5/5. Probably the best food I've had in a food court. Not a big fan of lamb, but the lamb korma was cooked perfectly as was the chicken tikka masala. Service was great. The owners were very nice and friendly, and they made the samosas and naan fresh so they were piping hot. They also recommended me the entree. Will definitely come here if I'm ever in need of food nearby.
