Mélisse is a chic, two-Michelin-starred gem in Santa Monica, serving exquisite prix fixe menus that blend French technique with California's finest ingredients.
"Josiah Citrin, chef at Mélisse in Santa Monica, makes his mom’s yam soufflé with brown butter pecan crust for Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect complement for fall dishes such as turkey, venison, or wild game; the soft, sweet, custardy texture of the yam in combination with the nutty crunch of the pecans makes one of them all." - Jillian Dara
"Mélisse is a modern French restaurant in Santa Monica with two Michelin stars, known for its award-winning dining experience." - Chadner Navarro Chadner Navarro Chadner Navarro is a writer and editor who specializes in travel, food, design, and culture. "Verdict: In most ways, Melisse is pretty much what you’d expect from a tasting menu-only spot that’s been open in Santa Monica for over 20 years. There are foams, intricate presentations, and servers who have spent a lot of time learning dish placement choreography. And yet, it doesn’t feel stale. If you're down to spend, it's a good option." - nikko duren, brant cox
"Melisse is a Santa Monica mainstay, a deeply fancy restaurant that’s been around in one form or another for over 20 years. A meal here is spectacular, but let’s get one thing out of the way: dinner here costs $800 for two people. Minimum. So, if you’re planning to eat here, you’re probably operating under some very specific circumstances (engagement, lottery win, final day on the job with access to the company card). Once you sit down in the intimate but not stuffy dining room, expect around ten courses (although many have multiple plates or bites involved), attentive servers who fully appreciate how special the night is, and, best of all, absolutely delicious food." - arden shore, brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"Mélisse’s is throwing a birthday party on July 14 to celebrate 25 years open. Chefs from across Los Angeles, including Josiah Citrin, Nyesha Arrington, and Neal Fraser, will be cooking 19 different canapes for the party. Cocktails and wine will be available." - Rebecca Roland
