Mémé Mediterranean

This was a hidden gem in regard of the food. We discovered it completely randomly, after a night Cruise at the pier 83 so we didn’t have time to book and it was already almost 9:30 pm. The place surprised me! The food was so good, it made me feel I was somewhere in the Mediterranean. So original! From the bread to the seasoning, the dinner was a gastronomic experience. We came without reservation and we’re able to seat outside, the weather was great so it was awesome. I’d strongly recommend, specially if you haven’t try a real Mediterranean Food.

Lovely Mediterranean restaurant! Went for brunch; food and drinks are great! Very good mimosa, a bit too spicy Bloody Mary, good and tasty Eggs Benedict and great Shakshuka Moroccan breakfast. Don’t miss the Combo platter!

So I have been eating at mémé for a few years at their west village location and always loved it. I was in hell’s kitchen and decided to go here thinking their food would taste the same. For drinks, I ordered their old fashioned and it was horrendous. No alcohol and sweet af. I sent it back and got bourbon on the rocks. Strike 1. For appetizer, we ordered the pita hummus lamb which was delicious. They could have added some olive oil to it to make it less dry. For main course, I got lamb chops, I mean easy to cook, can’t go wrong with lamb chops. I asked for medium pink center and they cook to cardboard well done. I don’t wanna be that a-hole but had to send it back. Strike 2. They bring it back, at least cooked to my liking, spinach and mashed potatoes were good but the lamb chops were like 70% bone and 30% meat, strike 3. For a $200+ tab, They somehow managed to screw up everything I asked for and it was very disappointing. My other 2 guests thght that food was ok as well. Not sure if this location has a problem but will not come back here. Will order the same dishes at their west village location and see how it goes.

It was a good lunch spot in Hell’s Kitchen. Not too heavy and the service was pretty fast. The staff is friendly. We got the Laffa tacos and lamb kebab to share. It was a good amount for the 2 of us.

Great mediterranean restaurant. Although it's a bit far from the center (10th Ave), this place is a real hidden gem. We got the hummus appetizer with ground lamb, the branzino, and shakshuka with the marguez sausage. All was great, but I thought the sausage didn't work with the shakshuka. It's best to order it on the side in my opinion. Also, another problem with the shakshuka is that they bring pita chips inside the shakshuka pan which makes them soggy and not fun to eat. I would ask to get the pita on the side instead.

The quality of the food was quite variable from person to person. I had to send my first one back but they were gracious enough to conp the meal due to the reason. However as you can see from the picture, when the foods good it's very good.

Four of us had a wonderful dinner last night. The weather was nice so we sat outside, nice seating area, a great spot to people watch (and dog watch), traffic noise wasn't too bad. Our waiter (Brandon) was great, suggesting items, attentive to drink refills, and making conversation. The food was amazing, we shared several plates and they were all delicious. Specifically, we had the baked meatballs, vegetarian combination platter, and seafood grill. Great dining option if you're attending a Broadway show as it's a short walk to theater district.

Randomly pass by the place. It’l ll surprise you. We ordered the Shakshuka and Lamb Kebab. The bread prior to the meal is memorable, light sweetness and soft texture!

My husband and I were craving Mediterranean food one night and discovered this spot a few blocks from where we live. We saw a ton of availability when we made a reservation, but we were surprised to see the place was packed when we showed up around 7. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I was very indecisive about what I wanted to order and they provided us with a ton of recommendations. My husband and I split a total of 4 tapas and we left feeling veryy full, so I'd recommend 3-4 tapas per couple depending on how hungry you feel. One of the tapas we tried was their new lobster risotto, which was our favorite dish of the night. We also ordered the warm halloumi cheese salad (my second favorite), the hummus with ground lamb, and the grilled octopus. We found the octopus to be a little on the tougher side, but besides that, everything was absolutely delicious. We also loved the cocktail selection and will definitely be back for future date-nights.

Nice place for an early dinner before going to the theater on a Saturday night. Walked to Meme Mediterranean after buying same day Rush theater tickets. Did not have a reservation but no wait when they opened. Got a cozy table for two. The restaurant is named for Chef Alon's and Chef Jacob's mom. Meme is French Moroccan for grandma. What a great compliment to their mom. Ordered the combination platter and the shawarma to share. Definitely order the combination platter. Salads and veggies on a hummus base. Beets. Marinated carrots. Babaganoush. So addictive with a smoky taste. Tabouli. Marinated red peppers. Matbucha. Topped with the most delicious falafel. Served with one pita bread cut into 1/8ths. Matbucha is a Moroccan cooked salad made of cooked tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic and chili peppers. It is a typical appetizer served with Moroccan bread. The shawarma royale was perfect to share. Lamb, filet Mignon and chicken marinated in Moroccan spices and thinly sliced topped with amba, tahini, and eggplant. The spices are still shipped from Meme to her chefs sons from Israel. Delicious! It was served with 1/2 a slice of pita and small ramekins of couscous and black lentils. Surprised that they substituted the tabouli on the menu for couscous, but it was a nice treat. Could have definitely used a full piece of pita for the meal and the combination platter, but we opened the half-slice of pita to create a "second" half-slice. Did the same with the 1/8th cuts served with the combo platter. Service was great. Our water glasses were always full. Thanks to Kenny for a great evening.

The place was nice and the servers were friendly. The seating where we were was tight, but the decor was very charming and the place was a decent size. The food was a little bit on the pricier side, but everything was very well made. The butternut squash was delicious and the steak and potatoes were top notch. The complimentary bread was a nice bonus, and the food came quickly afterward. The fruit was an odd choice to accompany the meal; I think I would've preferred more squash!

I visited MeMe for Christmas and shared a bunch of tapas with another person. The meatballs were my favorite, with the tacos and skewers also standing out. The only miss for us was the gnocchi, which was a bit too soft and gooey. The service was excellent, and the holiday decor created a really festive atmosphere. My only critique is that the portions were a little small for the price.

This is my first time eating here. I ordered royale with moroccan spices, amba, tahini, pickled eggplant, black lentil, and tabouli. Their food tasted flavorful. This restaurant is a casual and lively ambiance with outdoor seating, making it a popular choice for groups. The restaurant provides vegetarian options, takeout, and delivery, and its menu features a variety of flavorful tapas, entrees, and brunch dishes made with fresh ingredients and Moroccan spices. Great service.

Outstanding!!! Came here, because Sarah Jessica Parker recommended it on her Instagram. lol And she was spot on! And it's close to the theaters!! Came in for a pre-theater brunch with the fam. Everything exceeded expectations: - Fantastic service: a server even moved a plant, so he could get a great photo of our family from the sidewalk - Fantastic ambiance: beautiful sidewalk dining and the inside was nice as well - Delicious food! Burrata Frittata did you say? The fried artichokes were also great and the octopus was cooked perfectly! And I'm a bit of an octopus snob. lol The owner was super nice, too. Overall, I would definitely come back here.

Had a yummy meal at Meme last night. We started off with two espresso martinis because we were going to a concert and needed to be up latttteeee. The martinis were good but the foam was a little sparse? Not bad just interesting. We then split the hummus with falafel which was pretty fire, the chicken kebabs and the warm halloumi salad. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce was good but I do wish there were slightly more flavors, perhaps some lemon or more garlic would've been nice. The waitress was attentive and quick and the restaurant itself was super cute with adorable tables, nice lighting and good vibes. The halloumi salad might have been the star of the show it was delicious

We usually come here whenever we go to the Intrepid coz it's kind of close. The food usually takes a while to arrive. I don't particularly like their pita, and they only include so little you have to order extra. Yeah, not only do they not offer complimentary pita, they charge extra when you don't have enough for your dish. That's petty.

Comfort food and a relaxed setting! This place is a staple that I would 100% visit again! We had the salmon and the brazino. Plus the flourless chocolate cake is to die for!

We started the warm Halloumi cheese salad..... The swordfish skewer and BOUILLABAISSE was on point!!! Waitstaff very proficient and professional.

Absolutely adore the concept of tapas for Mediterranean food! My friends and I got a selection of tapas as well as a few drinks. All in all, the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the chicken skewers and the humus with ground lamb; specially, the chicken and lamb were so tender and flavorful. We also enjoyed our cocktails - they were very refreshing and delightfully strong haha. We got a selection of baklava for desert, which was also really good. The location itself became very lively as the night went on, but we were able to get a little table tucked away in the corner. So it was a good spot to catch up and talk. Generally this spot is lovely with lovely food - would recommend for dates and for small groups of friends.

I met a friend's mom here for lunch on a Friday afternoon while I was in the city. It wasn't crowded at all, which left us lots of time and space to chat in a chill, quiet atmosphere with friendly, attentive servers who regularly refilled our water glasses but didn't hover or bother us. We both ordered the combination platter, a huge plate of pita triangles with babaganoush, hummus, carrots, beets, tabouli, falafel and matbucha, each tastier than the next. The portions were plentiful and all of the food tasted very fresh. I hated to waste any of it, but because I was just visiting, I couldn't take home my leftovers. There's not much of an ambiance here, but it was exactly what we needed -- felt kinda of old-school NYC, very good food without trying too hard to be pretentious or trendy. Would definitely go back if I were in the area again.

Good spot for Mediterranean food but I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it is (but i guess it's nyc). I'd suggest to get a few things and split them. Be awake that the portions are not very large- we ended up having to order more than originally planned. But the flavors are good.

stumbled upon this small restaurant after a long day at the Whitney. I got seated right away. The tapas were excellent. Highly recommend the gnocchi and the grilled octopus

Mémé be WowWow. A prompt weeknight pre-theater meal, so entrees only. A buzzy 10ave vibe, still plenty quiet for talking. A chicken tagine that was a knockout A shwarma dish that was spiced to complex flavor-- recommended over the couscous bu the waiter as her favorite. I bet the couscous would have super as well. A friendly waitstaff with excellent reccs.

Food was great! I had the Bouillabaisse, and it was delicious. Service was above and beyond as well--our waitress was great and super nice, and we chatted with the owner too, who was great!

Visited again pre-show. Such a solid place. Ordered entrees this time (salmon, chicken tagine) and not a bite was left. Really delicious food and warm, friendly service. This place is a gem!

4.5/5 I don't usually eat Mediterranean food, but boy was this meal great. I came here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday dinner with a reservation. We were prompted seated and ordered drinks. The drinks were fine, a little too much ice in my opinion, but it didn't bother me too much. We got the Combination Platter, Baked Meatballs, and Roasted Cauliflower. WOW everything was so good! I loved the many options that the combination platter had and how you could mix and match all the different things on it. I mostly judged this based on the hummus and the pita, which were done perfectly. The hummus was so creamy and chock full of flavor. One of my personal favorites on the platter was also the tomatoes... so sweet! The baked meatballs were my favorite dish... they were just so big and spiced so well! The cheese wasn't overwhelming and really complemented the hefty meatiness. And the roasted cauliflower had a crunch but wasn't overcooked. At the end, we ordered dessert, but one of the waiters mixed up our order and gave it to us without a candle at first, which was a little awkward, but our main server promptly took it back and sang my friend a nice birthday song. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. Note that it's a really small restaurant and other customers were constantly bumping into our small table, which was annoying and part of the reason why I took .5 stars off. But I would definitely come back here just for the food!

The service was fine but the food was overpriced and really bland. I'm not sure if it was just an off day or if I just got the wrong dish though!

We have discovered a new Mediterranean gem in Midtown that has become our top pick! From the moment we took our first bite, we knew this place was something special. The dishes were nothing short of exceptional, bursting with a perfect balance of bold and complex flavors. We highly recommend the combination platter, the Shawarma Royale (we asked for chicken instead of beef) and the Chicken Tagine - everything was simply amazing! To complement our meal, we opted for a spicy margarita, which was equally impressive. And the Tiramisu was HUGE and oh so delicious! We really loved it! The service was top-notch, and the ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and lively. Overall, our experience here was truly outstanding, and we cannot wait to come back for more of this fantastic Mediterranean cuisine!

Great food and service!! Outdoor patio dining area is lovely and very dog friendly!! The waiters are so kind and will bring your dog water in a small bowl. Only negative thing is if you sit outside, you might get disturbed / approached by homeless people since it's in Hell's Kitchen. The scallops might have been my favorite dish we had. I've never had scallops with bean puree before, but the puree was deliciously nutty and paired well with the scallops. I also loved the salmon entree I ordered. The risotto underneath was creamy and the perfect texture. Overall great experience!

This is the perfect place for a pre/post theater meal. The food is excellent and cocktails delicious. Our sever was lovely and helpful. You must try their hummus with ground lamb! The tahini Caesar salad is a nice take on a classic too. We will be back just to try the Shawarma and Chicken Tagine.

The staff here are super kind and friendly. I came on a Saturday night with a party of 6 and unfortunately 2 of our were running late but they still gave us our table and let us wait for them. The food is incredibly tasty and super healthy. There's quite a few dishes that can be shared tapas style that are very yummy such as the octopus and the hummus. I had the lamb burger and it was great! My friends also loved the branzino. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the neighborhood!

Yum! This is the kind of restaurant where a lively conversation will be regularly punctuated with exclamations of how tasty the food is or appreciation for the wine. It's easy to get lost in conversation or bliss out with enjoyment of the food here. I went before an off Broadway show with a friend and had an absolutely lovely time.

We have been passing this place for years and wanting to try. We walked in on a Sunday night with no reservation and were seated right away. The service was great, attentive but not lingering too much. We ordered the Mediterranean-esque salad, the hummus which came with falafel and the ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi was amazing -- melted in your mouth. I would skip the lamb chop next time.

The restaurant needs to work on training its staff better in handling customers, while the full guest party has yet to arrive and offer guests to wait at the bar which is most usually done at other restaurants. Furthermore, the restaurant was also very empty and was not full. Also, when i told the manager about the poor service, he shared if i was not happy i could leave the restaurant which i find appalling, given they are in the hospitality industry. I was stunned as my friends had travelled down to visit the restaurant from out of New York. The food was average, with the tagine being too watery and the the only gave half a piece of pita for the Sharwama which was very poor form for the prices they charged. I will unfortunately, never visit this restaurant again due to the arrogance of the manager.

My party of 2 came during brunch on a weekend. There were not that many people around - maybe 6 other parties of 2. We were seated outside. I ordered the breakfast laffa taco, which came out barely warm. I expected what the menu said in the taco, which was scrambled eggs, but there was instead an omelet wrapped in a taco. There was not much chorizo either, so it was mostly egg and some cheese on bread. However, the salsa verde was pretty tasty. The bread that came out with was quite hearty - it was filled with raisins and nuts. Service was not good. I'm not sure if it was because we were seated outside, but all the other parties were seated outside too. We seemed to have been forgotten by our server because the hostess was surprised we hadn't ordered yet, and when we asked for our check, we had to get up and ask again for the check.

Great place for Mediterranean brunch! I've come here twice before and will keep coming back. Great central location. We got the Mediterranean brunch and the mixed platter. The brunch was filling and the mixed platter was a nice dish to share and try different dips. The service was kind. The ambiance is casual and comfortable.

I came out to visit my kids. My daughter took me on to the city to have fun and see my son. My son picked this restaurant. The drink menu had a Pilsner, and I enjoyed it. My son and his fience enjoyed the ravioli. I have the lamb chops. We sat outdoors. It was a slight change of venue and a longer walk. The lamb chops are not too common, and these were delicious. Good place to come one time.

Great food! Wonderful service, and a very nice vibe! Ordered scallops, artichokes, house salad, wild mushrooms, branzino, steak, and banana pudding. Every single dish was a hit. Not cheap but worth the cost for this quality food with fresh ingredients that are cooked at this level. Highly recommended!

This is definitely going to be one of my regular Mediterranean spots going forward! The food was so delicious and fresh. The drinks were also amazing. The ambiance was also great it felt super cozy and romantic. And the service was exceptional as well!

MANHATTAN: Meme Mediterranean is an exquisite restaurant with 2 locations in the city! We visited the one in Hell's Kitchen and sat outside in a heated structure under trees overlooking 10th Avenue. Leashed dogs are allowed outside! If you like falafel, you MUST order it here. Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and oh so flavorful! The best! They have so many other Mediterranean-style options too, but we keep thinking back to the falafel! Everything is wonderfully prepared and delicious! They also have a full bar and very friendly staff. The seating in the structure can be a bit tight depending on the number of people in your party, so make sure your pup is comfortable.

I came here with two girlfriends from high school who were visiting NYC before their 7pm show -- the staff was delightful and the food was AMAZING!!! One friend got the meatballs and ricotta gnocchi, the other got the chicken kebabs, and I got the combination platter (vegan heaven!!) and everything was gobbled up very quickly... The food was wonderful, but the staff was really the highlight of the meal. My friends were a touch late, so I was waiting for a bit and several staff members checked on me and we chatted for a long while. If you are in midtown west of going to the theatre, this place is speedy, healthy, delicious, and a total neighborhood gem!!

My mushroom ravioli was fantastic! I typically get tired of eating too many mushroom, but this dish made me gobble it all up! We also had some mimosas for our brunch and sat outside in the fall weather. Perfect setting with great food and drinks.

This place is such a cute little restaurant on 10th avenue in Hell's Kitchen. The restaurant is pretty small and has great service. There are great options too, but I do think the food is a little pricey for what you get. We decided to just go ahead and get some tapas since none of the mains looked very appetizing. We started with the combination platter, which had hummus, beets, tabouli, falafel, matbucha, and babaganoush. I really loved the babaganoush and the falafel, which I think was fluffy and crispy. I also really loved the beets. This was probably my favorite dish of the night. We also got the chicken laffa taco. They are definitely stacked up and are pretty heavy (you get 2 per order.) I thought that the tahini and the pita were yummy, but I really didn't think that the chicken was well-seasoned and ended up just taking out all the fillings and only eating the pita. We also got the ricotta gnocchi. While I loved the truffle cream sauce it was in, I thought that the gnocchi was a little grainy and heavy, compared to some of the other gnocchi I've had. Overall, I think the restaurant's ambiance and service are stellar, but I really didn't love the food. Probably will not return.

3.5 / 5.0 - We were in Hell's Kitchen and came to try their brunch. The service was great. The staff was friendly and we felt welcomed as soon as we entered the restaurant. We ordered: - Grain Bowl - Steak and Eggs We shared both and liked having the variety. The Grain Bowl had a wonderful combination of fresh ingredients and was a nice healthy option. The Steak and Eggs wasn't anything to write home about. The main issue we had was with the bugs flying around. It was quite bothersome, especially considering we were seated indoors. The ambiance was lovely, so hopefully, they can deal with the bugs to offer a more pleasant experience.

Pros: the food is great. Salmon and chicken both well cooked. I loved the flavor of the Mashed potatoes. And felt decently full after the meal. -the service was also good. We came 5-10 minutes before the kitchen closed (unknowingly) but they still seated us and we were served promptly. -real candles at each table. Cons: -the restaurant is small so it might be hard to find seating at a busy time. -we sat at a table next to the door and felt a breeze when it was opened. Overall, it's a restaurant worth stopping by to try!

Yummy! I had the Shawarma, my husband had the salmon, one teen had the mushroom ravioli, another had the couscous and the 3rd had the Shawarma as well. All were delicious! So recommend!

Great first meal at Meme. I love discovering local eateries that are away from the main drags. The food and drinks here are really good, and the service was impeccable. The portion sizes are small for the prices though. The Classic Hummus with ground lamb was tasty, and the Sautéed Shrimp was fresh and flavorful. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd definitely be back.

Came on a Saturday afternoon at 12. Service was on the slower side as it took 45 min after ordering to get our food. I ordered the Shakshuka Moroccan breakfast with lamb sausage. The sauce had good consistency and flavor. The quality of the pitas was pretty bad, as they seemed a bit stale.

I was impressed. Great vibe, prompt and courteous service and excellent fiord for fair prices. The stand outs were the ceviche appetizer and the bread pudding but all was worth a repeat. I'll be back for sure.

Very pleased with our 2nd experience at Meme! First was several years ago, probably shortly after they'd opened, and we enjoyed our meal that time too, but I don't recall writing a review (tried looking for it, couldn't find one). Anyway, took a ramble over to the Hudson River and happened to walk down 10th Ave, passing Meme. Brainstorm - we'll have dinner here! Full disclosure, I had a "big" birthday in October and received a generous gift card to Meme from my SIL and bro; they actually found the place on yelp without any help or encouragement from us! We often go to the Signature Theater in the area so when they gave us the gc 5 months ago we figured we'd go during one of our theater excursions - but life goes on and we had forgotten completely about the gift! Walking by triggered this old girl's memory, so it was a perfect storm. We were going to start by sharing a salad (a few on the menu look really good!), but the people at the table near us had ordered the combination platter and that was irresistible! Falafel, hummus, babaganoush, matbucha, beets, tabouli, carrots and roasted red pepper...little triangles of pita artfully arranged around the edge of the plate. So much to eat, it could've subbed for a smaller eater as an entree. But while I'm a small person, I'm not generally a small eater... My husband had the mixed seafood grill, which he was very happy about. I believe I saw a fish kebab, a small tuna burger which he thought was spicy (the menu does say spicy) but not so spicy as to be inedible - he has a pretty low tolerance for spice, though, so my guess is that it's really not too hot - shrimp, and scallop on the plate, as well as a small green salad (menu says charmoula, which I thought is a sauce, but I'm sure I saw leafy greens?). I ordered the Meme Couscous, which was an unusual choice for me because I so rarely eat any red meat and this has a small chunk of lamb in it as well as a merguez sausage (neither of which I've had in at least 10 years). This was very much like a tagine, and the presentation is just lovely! The server came over with the rather large shallow bowl filled with the meat, the chickpeas and couscous, and the vegetables; he also had a small dish with a little cup of harissa (bring it on, I like the heat!) and a gravy pitcher, from which he poured what I think was a vegetable or chicken broth into the bowl. Of course the couscous soaked that right up..extremely tasty! Oh, and I had a beer (which I didn't finish). Any normal person is quite full by now...did I mention that I'm a big eater? So we shared a dessert (yeah, I "paid" for that, didn't sleep so well). The lemon tart is a small slice of a fantastic lemon tart, with a pretty large dollop of good (i.e. not cloyingly sweet) whipped cream. And I had mint tea -tons of fresh mint leaves steeping in hot water, a perfect ending for this meal. Service was excellent, food was excellent, what more can I say?!?!

Came here for dinner with a few friends and we were not disappointed! We ordered the combination platter, seafood grill, laffa tacos and mushroom risotto. Everything was fresh and delicious! The restaurant has a cool vibe and very lively. For dessert, we ordered the apricot soufflé which was light and moist.

Well what a great eatery overall! The food was well prepared with great attention to details and an authentic Moroccan flavor profile. All servers were very attentive and helpful. We even managed to get a couple of photos of our group of 6. If you have a large group, I would definitely recommend reservations, as they only have a few larger tables in the dinning area. Groups of 6 or more are charged a 20% service fee, on the value of the check before tax. The lamb shank Tagin was absolutely cooked to perfection, I would have liked it a bit hotter in temperature, but for most it would be perfect. The meat fell right off the bone and the bone was left whole with the morrow! The roasted salmon was also a big hit, and the shawarma Royale was great! As for dessert, do not leave without trying their apricot bread pudding served hot with crème fresh on the side, this definitely 5 stars! Definitely will repeat and sample more of their menu.

Happy with the food, the service and the relaxing atmosphere, especially since the weather has been so iffy, making outside dining tricky.

It was love at first bite with your ricotta gnocci. It's so unfortunate that the dish is so small, but I'm better off that way because if it was any bigger or cheaper, I'd eat enough to gain another 100lb. Truly delicious.

Just finished lunch. What a gem. Fantastic!! Beautiful outdoor area to enjoy. Our server was as sweet as she could be. We shared the chopped salad and the chicken tangine. Both were 10+. Highly recommend.

A neighborhood gem that never disappoints as I have been many times over the years. Fantastic lunch with beautifully prepared and presented Seared Yellowfin Tuna Salad! Great service... great atmosphere... no complaints.
