Meme Mediterranean serves up a vibrant mix of small plates and Moroccan-inspired entrees in a cozy spot with an inviting bar and outdoor seating perfect for people-watching.
"Meme has two locations, and we especially like the one in the West Village. The dining room is a little small, but there’s a good amount of outdoor seating where you can hang out and watch West Village-residing celebrities walk their dogs. The food here is an affordable mix of the Mediterranean greatest hits and crowd-pleasing dishes like brussels sprouts and spicy tuna tartare. It isn’t going to blow your mind, but the servers are nice, and if you’re looking for a nice little place with some healthy-ish stuff like salad or lemon chicken with vegetables, Meme will do just fine." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, will hartman
"Meme is the name of Alon and Jacob Cohen’s Moroccan grandmother, and the menu reflects her cooking approach. The menu displays Eastern Mediterranean and North African cooking, which makes it a great brunch spot, with dishes like shakshuka and malawach. The interior is breezy and blue, and there’s outdoor seating on the sidewalk. The West Village original has been recommended by Sarah Jessica Parker." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff
"Saying a restaurant serves Mediterranean food doesn’t tell you a whole lot. The place might serve grilled octopus or shawarma or ravioli, or in the case of Meme, all of the above. This place is a good option for when you’re eating with picky or indecisive friends, and it's never too tough to get a table here." - matt tervooren, neha talreja
"“Beanie Feldstein took me there the first time. It's like a couple avenues over, so it's a scotch removed. You don't necessarily feel like you're having the Theater District dinner. But it's very convenient and close to shows, and it's great for before or after shows because it's right in the zone. But it feels a little bit more like you're just having an isolated meal. It has all the good staples, the good hummus, good kebabs, good salad, all that stuff.” " - brennan carley
