I pay 5 dollars for a taco with almos no meat only tirtillas really poor tacos i will never go there again

Good food and generous portions. Birria plate, quesadillas, quesabrillas, and tacos are awesome.

This is a hidden gem of Concord/Walnut Creek. I recommend the lamb if you want something you don't usually find. This my absolute favorite places to eat in the Walnut Creek valley. Update 11/26/2024 I dropped by on my way North and had a delicious lamb brunch, you seriously can't go wrong with it. Highly recommend the salsa habanero aka their spicier red salsa, it's really good if you can take the heat. Update 5/25/2024 I don't get to come here as often, but I made the journey up to update my review and it's still amazing. I had to order two plates of barbacoa de borrego because I forgot to take pictures of the first, and it was so good I had to have more anyways. It's a tortilleria, so you can also get tortillas, bulk meats, beans and salsas, you can also get masa in bulk. If you want some great Mexican food in Walnut Creek, look no further, it's here. Update 4/22/2023 I've been coming here regularly for the past few years and it's still the best place to get lamb. Their salsas are excellent as well and you can't go wrong with birria if you're in the mood for it.

There aren't enough stars to give this place. Family run and that's what you feel like when you go there. Buche, carnival, chicharones, chicken and ribs ( yes, ribs) are all outstanding. My neice comes back to CA from Austrailia and this is the place she wants to go. Even my buddy says it reminds him of how his grandparents cooked on their ranch in Jalisco. You absolutely will love this place. Do yourself a solid and get tortillas, they make them fresh every day.

Food was incredible. Reasonably priced, generous portions and very quick service. Total hidden gem. Interior is very laid back.

We went to .Mercado del Sol they have 4.7 stars We got two chicken and beef enchilada dinners and tacos. The food was just ok. It didn't have a real Mexican flavor no red sauce on the enchiladas they were dry I think next time we will just go back to oakland.

Came out for a meetup I was hosting with several friends and my son. My son and I ended up sharing a plate of nachos which were delicious. We also each got a bottle of jarritos. The nachos we got with steak and they were some of the best nachos I've had in a while. Chips were perfect, flavor was great. We were there for a couple hours until about 20 minutes before close and they were all super nice and we got to enjoy our time there. I will definitely come back again.

Delicious mexican food Michoacan style. The owners personally take care of you. All staff is very attentive and welcoming. Great menu selections, especially the quesabirrias. There's freshly made tortillas and you can order prepared meats to go. Servings are hearty. This place is always busy especially for dinner and breakfast. A must visit.

If I could give this place 100 stars, I would! The food is consistently great, and I'm usually the only non-Latino in there! Today, I co-hosted a baby shower for some friends and volunteered to get the food. I immediately thought of Mercado Del Sol because their food is amazingly good, I love supporting small businesses, and you can never go wrong with Mexican food at a party! I already knew what I wanted to order, as I had been looking at their menu for weeks prior to placing my order. When I finally went in, Fabian, the owner, sat down with me and helped me with portions/sizes for 40 adults. I got a large tray of rotisserie chicken (64 pieces), 5lbs of birria de res, 2 dozen chicken enchiladas, 1 dozen cheese enchiladas, a tray of rice, a tray of beans, 2 packs of tortillas, a tray of guacamole, and 2 large containers of salsas, plus chips. When I arrived to pick everything up this morning at 9:45am, it was all packed and ready! Fabian loaded everything into my car for me, confirming my entire order as he loaded each tray. And the food was a HIT!! There was nothing left over, and I had several people ask me where I had gotten the food from! I highly recommend this place, whether you're just picking up a meal for yourself, or you're feeding an army of people - you won't be disappointed!

Finally found my new favorite Mexican restaurant this side of the tunnel! Super clean, super friendly service, and the quality of ingredients was excellent. Looking forward to trying out everything on the menu. Oh, and they make their tortillas on site!! Muy rico!!

I've been three times now in recent weeks. Not much to add... this time i tried Barbacoa... its lamb... I'll get some for carryout soon. They made me a combo plate of a Chile relleno and my first taste of their birria. Birria is excellent. Plate came with beans, rice lettuce and at least 6 tortillas What made me come write another review? Three visits and I realize, everyone here is super nice. Seriously, in an era when many restaurant workers are sullen, half the stuff happens on a screen... these folks make it seem like they enjoy taking care of customers. Different person took my order each time. Answered questions. Polite and smiling. Suggested I taste things without my asking. They deliver eat-in food to your table... on legit plates. Not like other places where you pickup at the order counter and eat from carryout containers.. I'm already planning to return to try more things

What a great find ! Mercado del Sol is the Best Mexican Restaurant I have ever dined in . The food is freshly made , seasoned to perfection and simply delicious I took my two friends here for the first time and they were impressed with the freshness of their ingredients. Th portions are generous and their salsas are the best .The guacamole taste like it just got picked off the tree The restaurant is very clean and very pleasant. Staff came frequently to ask if we needed anything . I will surely be a regular guest and will let my friends know of their excellent menu . The Staff are very nice and attentive and the owners are such wonderful people . Thank you

The ambiance inside the shop is pretty big. There was one side for ordering and then a section of hot items or pickup. Service was quick and easy. I did try to order in broken Spanish. I don't think I would do that again. I ordered the half chicken + pork ribs plate with tortillas, rice and beans on the side. Portions were huge. Like overfilled which is great. The chicken was a bit dry and not as juicy as I liked. The sauce they give does help a bit though. The ribs are good and would get it again.

The lady at the counter was not friendly :-/ I don't expect much from people these days but at least if ur at front of the place ,Smile a little bit .and don't act like ur doing me a favor by asking me for my order ! The tacos were not that great and not seasoned well at all .Sad but I w won't be coming back just for my Agua Fresca .

Let me tell you Monument Blvd street in Concord is the real life lil Mexico! I kid you not! All the bomb a** Mexican food you are craving come hit up this street majority of these restaurants are A1! I absolutely lovveeee this place my old friend's family owns this place. She was the one who introduced me to this place and man I fell in love with it the moment I had my first bite! You will always be greeted with a warm welcome and a sweet old lady ready to take your order! My bf was really craving some bomb a** Mexican food and we were in my hometown so I told him about this place. I ordered myself a birria plate with extra rice instead of beans. I ordered my bf Cameron de Diablo his favorite! He absolutely fell in love with his food the spice of the shrimp were to his liking which is hard because he loves his food SPICY! He really the one who put me on spicy foods lol. I fell in love with my birria plate was soo juicy packed with so much flavor!!! The rice was amazing I love me some rice I'm such a rice head lol! To top it off the salsa was perfectly spiced everything together..yummmm!!! This place will always be my go-to place for some A1 Mexican food!

I found out about this restaurant from a friend as he raved about the rotisserie chicken. I'm so happy to try it because, Move over Costco rotisserie chicken, you've been replaced! The chicken was so juicy, especially the skin (it wasn't dry at all), they give you plenty of food for a fraction of the cost, I tried the ribs and that was also delicious and had enough seasoning for my taste. I think the ribs are brought out after 4pm (pls call to make sure). The prices for all their combo meals and ala carte menus are reasonable, the restaurant is clean, it has an adequate amount of tables and chairs to dine-in. The lady at the register is always so polite and the gentleman that's chopping everything is really nice and welcoming. The parking can be a bit of a challenge. It's only because their food is that good! I would definitely suggest calling before ordering food because you want go make sure they have enough chicken and ribs (if that's your go to) they also have a lot of pick up orders and they also offer catering orders. I highly suggest giving them a try!

Great place if you have an up coming get together and want to bring something or host. Their three chicken family pack is a great deal!!! Plus they make their own tortillas and chips

Been wanting to try Mercado del Sol ever since I read about it in a SF Gate article last year. It didn't disappoint. Pastor tacos were perfection. Can't wait to come back.

I purchased a pound of their carnitas to go for a family party. Decided to try based on positive reviews. By far the absolute worst carnitas I have ever had and I think you would have a hard time finding worse in the entire bay area. When I say they were dry, they were sandpaper quality and hard/ tough consistency. Looked like they were boiled in water just long enough to cook but not get tender at all . ZERO flavor, but had the smell/ taste of leftover or reheated meat. They were absolutely inedible. I threw the entire thing away. Glad I only ordered one pound. Maybe there other food is good but carnitas are horrific

I am very fortunate to live an a city that has so much ethnicity. Mercado del Sol is at the top of my mind when I think of getting something to eat outside of my own cooking. Ribs are the juicy and tender. Chicken is so flavorful At this point in our history, now is the time support these ethnic businesses which have given us so much. Please patronize.

I go here about once a month, because their food is so good. It just tastes like the kind of Mexican food you grandma (if she is/was Mexican!) would make! Big portions, fresh ingredients, the ribs are dope.

Mercado del Sol has different combos to choose from and the Family pack combo comes with 3 pounds of any meat, rice, beans, salsa and tortillas. We tried the pork ribs, cueritos and buche. They were flavorful and mouth-watering. If you are looking for savory and authentic Mexican food come to this place. You won't regret it. Food and service are great .

My partner and I found this place in Google looking for Mexican restaurants near us and as we were in Concord we decided to give them a try. This was Thursday evening February 8th. Around 7:30 pm. Both of us ordered the #4 Taco Plate: Carnitas, they offer soft or crispy, so we requested soft. The lady at the counter was very friendly and accommodating. The place is clean and well-lit. Plenty of seating. Their menu is displayed above the counter. To the right of the register area is where they have their rotisserie chicken and baby back ribs so inviting too! To the right of this steam table is their salsa bar. The tacos were delivered by another very sweet waitperson and oh man! Three tacos generously filled with carnitas which were so good, so juicy and so tasty. Included on our plates were refried beans topped with cheese and Mexican rice, with peas and corn in the rice. I enjoy my rice this way and the beans... just wonderful! Their salsa, which we requested as mild was very tasty and not too hot in the heat index, with green & red salsa added to the plates. We weren't able to finish our plates and asked for to-go containers and when we were leaving the lady at the counter asked us if we'd like a bag. We will be coming back for sure! The remaining tacos translated very well the next day. Unfortunately, and this isn't their fault plus we weren't accosted but, in the empty storefront next door there were some unhoused, in sleeping bags staying out of the elements and trying to stay warm in their surroundings. Just a warning if you're easily offended. It was night time and they kept themselves to themselves. (We watch a lot of British crime drama)

I love everything I have tried here. Chiles rellenos, quesobirria, QUESOCAMERON!, Caldo De Res, their guacamole, beans and rice (and I don't even like beans and rice), their rotisserie chicken (and I am super picky about chicken), and all their meats. Everything is made with fresh spices, and the quality and taste of their food is always consistent. Definitely my go to Mexican restaurant on Monument Blvd. and also the place I long for to eat at again whenever I visit any other place that just isn't as good or delicious or fresh or satiating.

Great, flavorful, inexpensive Mexican food! The enchiladas rojas are generous and come with a hearty portion of rice, beans and salsas of your choice. The carne asada street tacos are tender and flavorful. It's self serve by ordering up front, but the service is great!

This locally owned family restaurant serves up fresh authentic Mexican food. The owner's son, whose really nice, took our order. We had the chicken plate, which is rotisserie chicken made with yummy spices. It's half a chicken with fresh day made tortillas, rice, beans, pico de gallo and salsa. Also, had the taco plate and California burrito. All delicious and generous portions. Darn! Forgot to take pics.

This place is a mom and pop kinda place . They make their own tortillas. They have a variety of different types of Mexican food . They also have great ribs ... baby red spicy potatoes to die for. Very authentic and the owners are the nicest people.

Right next to a Mexican supermarket this place is a gem. It's kinda small but has decent seating and is clean. The food is all on the board with the prices next to it. We got the flautas and steak taco meals and they were so flavorful. The steak is juicy and well seasoned and the beans are some of the best I've tasted. Polite customer service and our food was out fairly quick. We'll definitely come back.

This place is good. I got three tacos. Carne Asada, Carnitas and Al Pastor. With rice and beans. Everything tasted really authentic. I even really liked the rice. If I don't like your rice then pretty much it's trash to me. But they did a good job with everything. My fav meat out of the three I tasted was the carnitas. When I go back, that will be my go to.. lol

Delicious rib and chicken combo plate #5 for lunch last week from Mercado del Sol on Monument Blvd.! I sometimes ask for carnitas on the combo plate because I love them so much. The ribs are meaty, the chicken is juicy, and everything is flavorful! Be sure to try the spicy red potatoes! You can purchase individual plates, family packs, and meats by the pound. Owned by a super nice local family! Go see Fabian and his mom; they'll terrific care for you! I've been eating there for eight-plus years.

The Birria tacos are amazing. We often take a drive from nearby Dublin just to get tacos from Mercado del Sol.

This is my go to restaurant for Mexican BBQ baby back ribs. I think they are marinated in a citrus based recipe that includes garlic. The ribs are meaty, tender and flavorful so you can eat them straight up with no sauce. I ordered ribs and arroz to go for dinner. For lunch, I got a pork tamale and two crunchy tacos, al pastor and carnitas. The tamale was excellent this trip. The masa was moist and flavorful, nice balance of meat to masa, came out great. My buddy and I both liked the al pastor, he loved the carne asada, said the lamb was okay and we both thought the carnitas although tender could have used more seasoning. The salad is a nice touch and the chips were good. The staff is very nice and stopped by to see how we liked the food and if needed anything. On the next trip I'll my buddy wants to try the chili rellenos and I might try the enchiladas and sopes. Definitely 4.5 stars give this place a try, good value, food and service. They make the tortillas there so they are very fresh.

Love this place. When we moved up to the Bay Area from San Diego 10 years ago, we were missing Northgate market and our usual taco joint that sold street tacos with cabeza, lengua and the like. I did a Yelp search and it led me to Mercado del Sol! We usually get the Barbacoa de borrego and buche, which are sold by the pound, and a stack of their corn tortillas to go. Then we have a feast at home. The food is always so, so good. The folks that run the place are very nice and friendly as well. Will be back again and again.

Good family taqueria. A little pricy for family Mexican taqueria, but portions are generous and food is good Mexican taqueria food. Enchiladas were big and well spiced. Horchata water was too sweet. No beer or wine. Good place to take grandkids.

A friend of mine and I wanted to get mexican food for lunch but wasn't sure where to go so just started walking and ended up here. I am so glad we did! We each ordered a taco plate. He got the fish tacos and I got al pastor as I was craving it. I mixed up mine with a couple hard shells and one soft and I think I liked the hard shells a little bit more but both were delicious. My friend demolished his fish tacos. But the star of the day was the guacamole we ordered with chips. It was mouth watering. I've read the reviews that the rotisserie chicken is popular here so I will be coming back to try that out as well as a breakfast burrito one morning. So glad we found this family run spot!

Excellent rice and beans. Chicken is flavored right. I highly recommend it if in Concord looking for Togo dinner.

One of the first places we have to go and eat when we visit the area is Mercado del Sol for their ribs. We were not disappointed. We don't know what they do or how they do it, but they are always delicious. An added bonus is how gracious and welcoming the owners are. We will definitely try to make it back there again before we have to leave.

Out of all the Mexican food restaurants on Monument blvd I keep coming back to this one. A very extensive picture menu at the counter and each time I think I am going to try something different. Six time I have ordered the life changing Quesa Birria tacos. It's everything this meal should be, rich and beefy. The consome is perfect as a side to dip the tacos in, wish it came in bathtub size

This place is soo good. The large meat deals are very delicious like the chicken or the ribs. Large meat portions and sizes for other items like tacos.

The food is amazing. Everything is so fresh and at a great price. I love getting the family platter to take home and enjoy. It comes with rice, beans, salsa and fresh made tortillas! Yum. I really like that everyone is so friendly and always great you with a smile. It's a good place to meet up with friends or family and enjoy the yummy food. The noise level is definitely on the quieter end so it's definitely a good place to have a work meeting/lunch.

I placed a catering order I picked up for my mom's 80th birthday. I spoke to Consuelo. She was excellent on providing proper order amount per people I invited and checked in with me at least two more times after placing order to confirm price and amounts and quickly made any changes. Note, I ordered a week in advance. Service and food superb. I ordered for 25 guests grilled chicken ( a la parilla) rice, beans, ribs, tortillas, chips and guacamole.

Wanted to try a platter meal. Choices are rib, chicken or carnitas platter. It comes with rice, beans, a stack of tortillas, bbq sauce and 2 different salas. So I ask the owner and said I will make you half ribs and half chicken platter Next time I will get carnitas. It was fantastic and so filling. Going back soon to get more

Top tier taqueria in Concord, geared towards meals and family style dining. Burrito's, rotisserie chicken, soup, and tacos I've tried and enjoyed. Staff is nice and the serve food quickly! Locals must give them a try!!!

Stopped by to pick up lunch for friends. I picked up a asada burrito, a half chicken with rice and beans, it also came with a generous amount of flour tortillas and a chile relleno with rice and beans and another generous amount of tortillas. The flavour of the tomato base sauce for the chile relleno was very fresh tasting, it didn't resemble some sauces that tasted like it was old sauce, the rice was actually pretty good, fresh and soft, the beans came with a touch of cheese on top. My friends had the half a chicken which looked very good and moist. The accompaniment was a couple of red salsa's and a chile verdi salsa. The salsa's were very fresh and not too spicy. The only downside is a missing item which I ordered after I put in the initial order, the lengua taco since they didn't have cabeza. All and all I would come back, but remember to check to insure all my order is intact.

Absolutely delicious every time! Whether it's tacos, chicerone, or caldo pollo... it's made fresh and surpasses expectations. They have the best handmade tortillas (from scratch!!!) and salsa. Fast, friendly service. It's my new fav spot.
