Chicago’s Best Comfort Food Restaurants | Eater Chicago

"Mild 2 Spicy is a solid Indian restaurant in the Lincoln Park and Lakeview areas with a large delivery radius. It’s also a rare spot that manages to get dosa, the South Indian delicacy, right. A good dosa with chutney, sambar, and spicy potatoes, is like a hug from a friend you haven’t seen in ages." - Ashok Selvam

Sick Day Standbys to Order in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Dal — the soft, slow-simmered pulses (lentils, peas, beans) stew found across many South Asian countries — has long served as comfort food for millions. Versions vary significantly from kitchen to kitchen, and Mild2Spicy has three strong contenders on the menu: daal makhani (black lentils, kidney beans, split chickpeas, tomato and onion gravy), daal palak (spinach, split chickpeas), and daal thaduka (yellow lentils, curry leaves)." - Ashok Selvam

Mild 2 Spicy Review - Lakeview - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Mild 2 Spicy in Lakeview is the perfect spot for when you want to zone out while eating Indian food. This casual restaurant is painted black and dotted with wood accents and greenery, giving the large dining room an industrial yet calm vibe. That means you can turn your attention to the very tasty Mysore masala dosa—it’s crispy and paper-thin, layered with an appropriately spicy chutney. Apart from the inexplicably long dosa section, the rest of the menu is mostly North Indian dishes with a lot of vegetarian options (most of which can be made vegan). In fact, the non-vegetarian dishes are fine, but Mild 2 Spicy really shines with things like aloo gobi masala or channa saag, where there’s not a single piece of overcooked chicken breast in sight." - Veda Kilaru

We had a nice time. I've ordered delivery as well as dined in. The portion sizes are extremely generous for the price point. The food tastes alright. Dosas are always on point with sumptuous portions of sambhar and chutneys. The cocktail menu is just about okay but the experience in general is great particularly because the food is so filling.

We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Mild 2 Spicy with family and friends! The food was truly exceptional, and the hospitality was top-notch. Chef Alam deserves a special mention for his incredible culinary skills. His Butter Chicken Dosa was a game-changer - out of this world! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp Madras, Chicken 65, Mutton Curry, and Naan - every dish was a winner. The kids loved the Mango Lassi and Tikka Pasta, which were perfect additions to our meal. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. We'll definitely be back with friends and family to experience more of what Mild 2 Spicy has to offer. Highly recommended!

Google
This place knows what spice is and I love it. We ordered shrimp and lamb vindaloos, chicken saag and daal. The medium spicy was definitely hot enough for my taste and it was delicious. Cheese naan was a must have. The free mango lassis was also a plus, deal through at some point in july, check the Instagram. Service was friendly.

Must try if in town, i liked the paneer bhurji dosa and gobi manchurian. Service was fast and food quality felt good.

Google
I have never written a review before but after this it felt necessary. Butter chicken was overwhelmingly sweet and tasted more of tomato than anything else. I also have a sneaking suspicion the chicken was frozen. The naan was closer to a pita. Completely flat with not a single air bubble. Rice was good. Samosa was decent. Lassi tasted very artificial. If the meal had been inexpensive I would have forgiven a lot but it was 60$ for two people.

We love coming here whether it be a weeknight or for a date night. Their food is consistently awesome. We love their chicken tikka masala and butter chicken

Google
I ordered delivery and I have to say that it tasted amazing. I bought the butter chicken and the mozzarella naan and I could taste the seasoning in every bite. I also bought the vegetable samosas, which were amazing especially with the sauce that they provided. Definitely looking forward to eating here again.

Yelp
I am a student at Chicago booth and we catered from Mild2Spicy for our Diwali event. Hands down one of the best Indian food in Chicago for reasonable prices. The chicken 65 and Gulab Jamun were extremely flavorful and so was the rest of the food. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant!! Me and my friends had such a wonderful time, and the food is INCREDIBLE! I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
One of the best Indian Restaurants we have tried. We had a table of eight, with three 8 year olds, plus parents and grand parents. The service was excellent, very attentive and helpful. Which really helped us with ordering. We tried a lot of stuff! Eating family style and sharing across the tables. As expected the Buttered Chicken was a hit with everyone. The reviews we read ahead of time were spot on. We started with Mixed Pakora, the Spicy Pakora was just right and the potato Pakora was a big hit. Samosa Chat was good too. Saag Paneer with its creamy texture and full of spinach was better than expected too. We had several Curries, the Buttered Chicken and finished with Lamb Vindaloo which was nice and spicy. The Naan, Garlic Naan and Dosas were completely wiped out by our group. Great time and great food. I highly recommend you try this place.

Yelp
Loved the food. Service was good. We ordered Samosa chaat- which was good Kofta curry- really good daal makhni- really good Mango lassi- loved it!! Nice pleasant seating area. Good addition to indian food/restaurants.

Yelp
Chicken Tikka - 4/5. Good but on the spicy side, even when ordered mild Saag paneer - 3.5/5. Solid, surprisingly spicy as well. I like the chapathi and thought the roti was solid. I think my standard order here will be chicken tikka, mutter paneer, chapathi and another bread.

Yelp
Mild 2 Spicy has quickly rose to my favorite spot for Indian cuisine in Chicago. Not only do I believe that they are the best tasting, but they are far more cost effective than most of their competitors, and furthermore, they give you more food. I have tried a few menu options here, but my favorite is their paneer makhani paired with butter naan. I order takeout from here probably twice a week, and sometimes I will go to pick up the food. When I walk in, I am always met with very prompt and friendly service. The only thing that slightly disappoints me here is that they seem to be inconsistent with the size of the naan that they give you. Sometimes, you get two very large slices, and sometimes you get two rather small slices. No big deal, but consistency would be nice so I know if I should order extra or not. Otherwise, again, hands down my favorite Indian food in Chicago.

Yelp
Was invited to eat here for a small family birthday dinner. This is the birthday girl's, go to comfort spot, so I was excited to try them for the first time. Family friendly restaurant was able to accommodate a last minute walk in of 6 adults and 2 kids. Beautiful quiet restaurant to be able to sit and chat with everyone. Parking was a little bit off a hassle but to be expected for location & time of day. All the servers were tentative & very patient with us, making us feel very welcomed. The menu gave a great amount of food for their price. With my first time eating Indian food, I did not know what to expect, but I was very excited to try the famous viral recipe, butter chicken. Let me tell you, the butter chicken dish was everything I expected and more! Mixed very well with the butter naam. The baby corn was definitely a 10/10 with all the sauces on side. The tandoori chicken and lamb curry were definitely exploding with new flavors. Can't wait to stop by and explore more menu options.

Yelp
The best Indian takeout in the city - and let me tell you... I've tried a LOT. This place always hits. My go to order is the butter chicken, vegetable samosas and garlic naan. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Mild 2 Spicy brings some serious flavor to the table, offering a delightful range of dishes. The masoor dosa was delicious, but the real star for me was the baby corn--it became an instant favorite! The paneer burji dosa was another standout; it was delicious. And hey, those mixed pakoras? They hit the spot! Now, here's the thing--the heater wasn't working during my visit, which was quite annoying, but they put out a space heater, which helped, but it was still cold!! The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant--a friendly crowd, tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean. The staff were friendly and attentive and made the whole experience even better. Oh, and let's talk about those mocktails! The guava-flavored one with a spicy kick? Phenomenal, highly recommended. Overall, Mild 2 Spicy delivered not only delicious dishes but also exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
Trekked out to Mild 2 Spicy on an arctic night because I was in the mood to eat out and eat something yummy. I saw good reviews for Mild 2 Spicy but some of my friends had gone on their own and had meh experiences, but I love dosas and I wanted to give it a try. I got the baby corn manchurian and rava masala dosa. The portions were a great size and I ended up having leftovers of both. I think both were good, but not Amazing. I wouldn't order them again if I came here and personally, I have had better dosas on Devon. I'm not sure if their other dosas are better / more on par, but again good but not great. It was pretty busy for a weekday of freezing temps though and the service was great.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Great quantity and quality of food for the price! The dosa was massive! Split this with my friend along with some naan. Went for brunch and it was very quiet. Inside is a bit dark - more of a date atmosphere. Service was good as well. Will be coming back!

Yelp
Mild 2 Spicy 2 Gorkha I don't think anyone who actually knows about Indian food could possibly eat here. We started with the Veg Samosas. They were strangely huge, and had absolutely no flavor/spice to it at all?! The green chutney was a joke. The consistency of water and the color of slightly green milk had no flavor at all --- no hint of cilantro, mint, lime or chili pepper. We paid for the Samosa, got up, and walked a few blocks east to Gorkha Indian and Nepalese restaurant. OMG, real Indian food.

Yelp
It was a delivery order. Took about 40 to 45 minutes from the time of order to actual delivery. The delivery drive was from Lakeview to River North. Not too close. The total bill was around $70, and enough food was ordered to accommodate 2. The Good: On time and pleasant driver Package very well Food very warm when received Lots of rice Generous portions, which is good if you eat it, sad if you toss all of it like me. 2 giant samosas The delivery fee was only $2 The Bad: taste, smell, texture, spiciness Aloof Tiki: It looked very odd and topped with chopped onions and something else. I only took a couple of bites. It was placed in the fridge for later. Generous portion. No real initial thoughts, as the main entrees were calling my name. UPDATE on Aloof Tiki from the next day: I took a bite of this item... Flavor was awful. The texture was just so wrong. My Palate was grossed out. Tossed. Veg Samosas: 2 large, crunchy. A bit of heat. (See my review for Moti on YELP! I think theirs were SO much better.) Ate one. They were fried well with crunchy exterior potato filling, and the texture was not pleasing to my palate. Taste was not hideous but definitely not good either. However, this was the most palatable of all items ordered. Put 2nd one into the fridge. NEXT DAY UPDATE: Second Samosa tried again. Should have not kept it, but wanted to give it a fair chance. Took a bite and TOSSED. Butter Chicken: took 2 bites and literally threw it out. Wasn't edible due to the extreme spiciness! I tried mixing in sour cream to calm the insane heat. No help. It was ordered "medium heat". That stuff was blazing. My stomach aches as this is being typed. Smelled okay, but can't speak much for flavor because it was just too hot. I think I lost some tastebuds in the process and pretty sure my stomach lining will need to repair. My Southern Indian friends make me hot food, this item was much worse in heat than theirs. Lamb vindaloo: ordered medium heat. Received hot! 100% unenjoyable. Tried to mix in sour cream to save this too. Forget it! So the lamb was picked out and rinsed off. It was soft and chunks were large. Did not like the smell or flavor of the sauce it was in. Tossed. Roti: Received 2 warm wrapped in foil but as it cooled it hardened into unedible! And, of course, makes me think this was not made fresh and merely reheated. I have had homemade rotis from my southern Indian friends, and I don't recall them ever turning hard as they cooled. I love rotis, however, these were inedible. Tossed. My wrapped up thoughts Next Day Update to complete review: Indian WAS by far my fav cuisine, but, after what seemed like an assault on my stomach and palate, I won't be eating or ordering Indian cuisine for a long LONG LOOOOOONG time. The proverbial bad apple ruined my love for the entire cuisine. Indian is sadly now off my list TOP FAV 5 foods to eat. Personally, just the thought of what I tasted and smelled evokes bad memories. It feels like a bad breakup. Something I have been eating for around 25 years! I craved it, actually. My Italian mom used to get mad when she would hear me say Indian was my all-time fav cuisine. Okay, mom. I'm sure you would have been happy to hear it is no longer. Hope you are smiling down now. Ask me my fav food now? French has elevated to the #1 spot and Indian is off my list totally. ( Mom, Italian is a close 2nd, I swear.) Time to find a French restaurant to call my new boyfriend. If you try this place, leave a review. I'd like to read about your experience and hope it goes better than this one.

Yelp
Just tried out this Indian takeout place and it's my new favorite! The Chicken Tikka Masala was so flavorful, like every bite was a burst of spices and just how you want it to taste. I also got the Lamb Biryani, and it was amazing, especially with the yogurt sauce on the side - such a good combo. I decided to try the Chicken 65 too, after reading some reviews, and it didn't disappoint at all; it's basically like spicy chicken popcorn. Plus, the delivery was quick, and everything came well packed. Definitely hitting them up again for my Indian food fix!

Yelp
The idli and sambar at Mild 2 Spicy were amazing! The idli was soft and the sambar was full of rich, authentic flavors. Highly recommend if you're looking for great South Indian food! I also love that they packed the hot food in aluminum containers instead of styrofoam.

Yelp
We came here for an early dinner over the weekend. The menu doesn't have things you might normally expect from an Indian restaurant but despite that we ordered a paneer makhani and paneer burji dosa. The paneer burji dosa was excellent with well made and seasoned paneer filling. The paneer makhani was fine but the gravy was more tomato heavy and on the sweeter side rather than spiced. Our service was good although it wasn't very crowded when we were there. This is a decent Indian place when you're craving some dosa.

Mike W.

Yelp
Good spicy food. To start with great service and quick. Both the mango lassi and chai they we good we delicious. My partner got lamb korma mild and had very little spice any one that complains about it being too spicy I don't know. I got chicken vindaloo and medium spicy it was great flavor and good spicy level paired great with butter nana. If u like good food go here
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped there on a Thursday around dinner time and we were the only group there. Maybe this place was more popular for delivery?... That's said, is safe to say there were more staffs than customers... Our server didn't seem happy to see us as she had this weird facial expression on her face the whole time... Food was underwhelming. The butter chicken only has a few pieces of chicken in it so we had to discuss who take them... Veggie Korma was very creamy. They have a bunch of deep fried appetizers but they were pretty oily and didn't taste fresh (Luke warm when ours were served). Also only metered parking available so that's another reason to not visit again....
google avatar

Renee P.

Yelp
Came here because I saw it listed as having one of the best dosas in Chicago and was a little disappointed. We ordered the Mysore masala dosa and it was nice and big and crispy and the waitress warned us it would be spicy, but honestly even I couldn't taste the spice (and I'm pretty weak with spice). The paneer Manchurian was a little too sweet for me and the butter chicken was good but tasted very tomatoey. The service was excellent and they had some nice drink specials so I could see coming here for a date or maybe outing with friends, but was definitely much more mild than spicy.

Yelp
On a rainy evening, I ordered food to be delivered. I LOVE Indian food, so this is from the heart. I have ordered food from here before and it was not terrible. I was hoping for better since Yelp reviewers give it a great rating. Tonight was the worst. I ordered the Samosa Chat for an appetizer, Chana Masala for entree and some bread, Onion Kulcha. I had planned to have the leftovers tomorrow. When the food arrived it looked OK but I soon found out it was not good. The Samosa Chat was totally bland, the Chana Masala was terrible. The Onion Kulcha was mush, not cooked. Even the condiments were like water. Chana Masala is the most common dish on any Indian menu, how could they screw it up? As I said before, I have ordered from here before and it was not terrible but not great. Overall, Food is not great. I ended up throwing the whole order in the garbage and made an omelette for dinner. I will not order from here again. Indian food is my favorite food, I feel sad this was so awful. Note: The restaurant refunded my money, I didn't ask for this. I would have rather had consistent food quality, they need to taste their food often. Very simple.

Raj D.

Yelp
The food was very good and I would highly recommend folks to go there! We ordered vegetarian dishes. My aunt ordered a huge dosa. My friend and I ordered a tofu curry and a vegetable korma. Our two dishes were really good. The dosa was decent but my Mom and make these all the time and you can see techniques screw up the masala portion. It retained too much water and diluted the flavor. This happens when pressure cooking the potatoes or not letting the water drain enough. The appetizer was Gobi Manchurian. It's quite popular and this one is quite good
google avatar

Julia P.

Yelp
We have loved ordering from here but lately (as in the last couple of months) there is no more mild option. It says mild when we put in the order but when we get it my mild tastes almost as spicy as my husband's medium. Even he can't can only detect a very slight difference. We even called and reordered once because we thought it must be a mistake, but nope. Got the same thing. This last time my mild was again more medium and my husband's medium was more spicy - his mouth was on fire! I had to update my review just to be clear for those ordering: if you like spicy things, this is a good pick. But if you want mild, I can no longer recommend this as an option.
google avatar

Divya V.

Yelp
Mild 2 Spicy was my go to place to order in Indian food however lately the quality has deteriorated. I recently ordered Dal Makhani with chilly garlic naan and Samosa for dinner. I don't know if the restaurant poorly packed the dishes or the food pick-up driver handled it badly, but when the food was delivered to me, it was all spilled up and messy. Even the food tasted bad and it did not look fresh at all. I ended up throwing most of the food and I don't think I'll be ordering from this place ever again!

A D.

Yelp
Very bad services. I saw this 3rd time in a row.. I ordered using Uber Eats and asked for Use & throw utensils, onions and salt..no one reads customer feedback at all...This happened 3rd time in a row and I cant eat the food at Hotel...This is simply ridiculous.. When I called they said, they are busy...what does that mean? Am I not a customer?? Sorry to say this, but plz don't opt for them
google avatar

Raj D.

Yelp
I've ordered take out from Mild 2 Spicy twice and the food has been stellar! Prices are very fair, the food is perfectly spiced, and the portions are massive! There are a ton of vegetarian options too. For those who are interested in order delivery, they have their own delivery service that is cheaper than ordering through GrubHub or Uber eats! I'll be ordering here again!

Yelp
I've been trying to find good dosa without having to drive up to Devon, and people said to come here. It just didn't hit the mark. I'll give it another chance, and try dining in (as opposed to the takeout I did). Lived in India for 3 months and always had a mission to try as much food as possible. That is my baseline. The restaurant itself was a positive. Very clean, new-feeling, and friendly staff. Prepared our order quickly, etc. Could tell they effectively ran the operations. For the food - 1. Masala Dosa: (a) super soggy, spongy, and I felt like it lacked flavor in the wrap itself. (b) the filling was a mushy spread. Like how taco bell burritos meld all the filling into 1 color of mix.. It tasted OK, but seemed like a lazy way around filing it. (c) they cut it into 4 pieces. Just wrap the long thing in foil! 2. Paneer Makhani: the paneer pieces were very good, perfect size. However the sauce/curry was like marinara or tomato sauce. Really lacked spices and creamy-ness. 3. Chicken tikka - almost the same as above, too tomato-y. 4. Naan/Chapati - standard. it was good, but hard to mess this up. I'd love to have a Dosa spot near me like this, so we'll try again. But this first go-around really didn't meet expectations.
google avatar

Paras P.

Yelp
I'm rating this solely on delivery. We got the chicken 65 to start with. Great amount of spice and flavor I would highly recommend this. The Masala dosa I would reconsider because of delivery it was not the best representation of Dosa and I wasn't a big fan of the sambar. The bagan burta was awesome lots of flavor. The garlic naan was okay and a plus was the free rice, lots of Indian places charge additional or don't include it with orders. This place is fantastic value not only on pricing, quality and quantity.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
I wish Yelp did 1/2 stars because I'd give them a 3.5/5. Delivery was fast through UberEats, portion sizes are good and I appreciate them wrapping up my mango lassi so it wouldn't leak. The chicken in the butter chicken is really tender, but wish spice levels were higher. I got medium and it's giving mild. I also wasn't super impressed by the plain naan, but it was still soft and chewy. But I see myself ordering from them again and trying more on their menu.
google avatar

Padma A.

Yelp
My husband was in the area on a Friday evening and we decided to carry out some Indian food which is extremely rare for us since I make pretty decent Indian food. We ordered a whole bunch of food... chicken kheema samosas, butter chicken ( meh ) kheema sabzi, mutton biryani, chicken biryani, shrimp South Indian style and garlic naan. Nothing to make want to order again, kinda disappointed!!

Jordan J.

Yelp
Got the butter chicken and chicken korma both mild, but I couldn't eat them because they were both too spicy for me. I know I'm a baby with spice level but thought the mild would be edible. Lips are currently burning, roti and garlic naan were fine.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Good Indian food in the Lakeview area. We ordered it delivered, so not the fairest comparison. The menu is extensive. Basically, if you've ever had it in an Indian restaurant, you can find it on the menu here! We had the Aloo Gobi Masala and Vegetable Korma. Both were good. They have both roasted and fried papadums, which makes for an interesting comparison. Reasonable prices.

Rebecca J.

Yelp
I've been ordering from and dining at this place for three years now. The food is outstanding every time. I love the huge menu and the variety of options. The people who work there are very kind. The flavors are high quality and the service is great. They even deliver their own food. I really love this restaurant. The only complaint I have is that they only put maybe four or five pieces of chicken/protein in each dish (I count, it's actually that low). This is the most expensive Indian place I know of, and I'm okay with paying a high price for such good quality. But it's frustrating when I spend over $100 and there is not enough chicken to share with everyone. It's basically just curry/broth and maybe five pieces of chicken in one order, which makes it hard to share with my whole family. If everyone just orders their own dish and doesn't share, then it's probably fine. I just prefer to order lots of food and share.
google avatar

Charity K.

Yelp
Got delivery from them and everything was still hot on arrival. I am not much of a spice person, so I got the "mild" korma (a reliably mild dish in general) and I thought I'd be adventurous and try the butter chicken with "medium" spice, rather than "mild." Surprisingly, the mild dish was much more spicy than the medium one (too spicy for me). Next time I'll know to avoid the korma completely, while that's usually what I get in Indian restaurants because it's known for being so low-spice. Will definitely get the butter chicken again at a medium level.

Isabella S.

Yelp
Great place to go with friends for lunch!! So yummy and delicious. Everything feels like it's made with intent and purpose. My favorite were the samosas!! The service was wonderful, and super kind! Highly recommend this place when you're in need of a home feeling meal!

Yelp
Totally commendable service. Food was awesome !! Recommended and appreciated totally. Delivery was super quick !!

Yelp
YUM!!!!! Had this for the first time ever, and I will absolutely be returning! Ordered butter chicken and garlic naan for takeout. It was still warm all the way until I got back to my apartment and took it out. Good portion size and delicious. Tastes very authentic and is definitely going to be part of my new rotation!! Comes with rice too:)

Yelp
Okay - straight to the point: ELITE food. One of the best meals I've had in 2023. Wow. Did takeout - and man did I get taken out, by incredible taste and quality food. Try to Chicken 65 and Butter Chicken. Thank me later. Wow. What a meal!

Holly L.

Yelp
I had this delivered when flying in and it was delicious! I ordered the chicken dosa (GF!!) and then the lamb saag. Don't judge. I know it's two entrees haha both were so good. I ordered the saag at a "spicy" spice level and it was great! Would def recommend!

Yelp
I've ordered 2x from grub hub so far and it's def my new favorite place . I love the price ( cheaper than other places) and I love that they give enough food for takeout ( usually other Indian restaurants would give very small portions) ! The naan is so fresh and soft I felt like I was eating from inside the place . The food was piping hot when it arrived and I just LOVE the flavor ! This is definitely my new favorite place for Indian food . I will definitely try to go there for sure , I don't know why I haven't found this earlier !

Yelp
The food was good so I would order again but don't think I would dine in. On top of that, the service was pretty below average. I made a few changes on my reservations and received texts so I was under the impression that we only had one under my name. When we went to the counter, the host was rude to us asking why we made two reservations. The place was not busy at all so not sure why they brought it up bc it was just a misunderstanding. I was under the impression that the waitress wanted us to order more and kept asking "is that it?" "Just that?" "do u want to order something to drink?" After we already told her we were good. The waitress definitely was giving us attitude which stinks because the food was rly good but i might give it another shot.

Yelp
It's been hard to find good, casual Indian food in the city but I finally found it here at Mild 2 Spicy. We ordered Paneer Makhani (comes with basmati rice) and a few garlic naans. The paneer was so fresh and the curry was both creamy and spicy (good spice level if you like spicy food!!). The garlic naans were super fresh, pillowy, & flavorful too! There are a huge variety of options on the menu - great options for vegans (tofu curries are available) and vegetarians as well. I've tried MANY Indian restaurants in the city and let me tell you this is one of the good ones! Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back here and this is likely going to be my new go-to Indian restaurant in the city.

Yelp
Sad to report I had a disappointing experience here. Not sure if the other yelp reviews are fake (I'm so rarely misled by reviewers in Chicago). We orded the Saag paneer, chicken tikka masala and naan. I felt that the sauces in both dishes were runny/watered down, and lacked the variety of spices I've come to expect in Indian food. The flavors weren't dynamic at all and the chicken tikka masala tasted like a tomato sauce I could make at home. Honestly, the frozen palak paneer and naan at trader joes is better than what I had at Mild 2 Spicy. I prefer many other Indian restaurants in Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and West Loop and won't be coming back here again. I had better ready-to-eat cafeteria food when I visited India than what I had here.

Yelp
Good food but the place smelled like urine.... I ordered food for take out and I have had dinner and when I went to the bathroom I always picked up a smell in the bathroom, but this time the smell was through the restaurant, I even discreetly asked a post mates delivery man if he too smelled the urine in the air and he agreed with me that it indeed smelled like urine....

Yelp
I always loved to dine on Indian food. I loved the spices, the curry and of course, the biryani rice! When we walked around Diversey, we found Mild 2 Spicy. So glad we did! First, it has been such a long time since we dined on authentic Indian cuisine. Other places may lay claim as Indian restaurants but they cannot cook it properly. Secondly, I looked at the menu and the Vegetable Biryani costs only $10. That sealed the deal for me. The Vegetable Biryani tasted so aromatic, creamy, a bit spicy, but so delicious. It came with the raita yogurt. The raita balanced out the spices and it did not taste overwhelming. Joseph ordered the chicken biryani. He said it tasted good. We ordered the garlic naan. It tasted divine. We waited for our food for about 15 minutes. But well worth the wait. Mild 2 Spicy did such a good job on preparing the food. The service rated an A. Come to Mild 2 Spicy. Bring friends, family or even a date.

Yelp
Good service but the food lacks taste. We tried their biriyani which was bland. Their aloo gobi was good and you could customize the spice level.

Yelp
This place missed the mark for me. I was so excited about it because I had yet to visit an Indian restaurant in Chicago, and I absolutely adore Indian food. However, it was a slight disappointment for me. We ordered: -baby corn manchurian -chicken korma -masala dosa The baby corn was DELICIOUS!! My favorite thing we ordered by far; we licked this plate clean. The dosa was good -- my first ever dosa, so I didn't have anything to compare it to and I wanted to make sure I started with the most traditional version. It was good, but next time I'd wanna go for something different, maybe a dosa with cheese, because I thought it needed more flavor. The chicken korma was okay, but it was nothing special. I've had much better. Maybe the chicken tikka would have been tastier.

Yelp
Consistently the best spot for Indian delivery. Everything is packaged nicely and arrives hot. Their goat biryani seems pricey at $18, but the portion is generous and it's FULL of yummy, well seasoned pieces of meat. The rice itself is so delicious and perfectly balanced with spices that I'd devour it alone. My favorite thing is that I ask for raw onion/lemon on the side (it's the true desi way, iykyk), and they ALWAYS give me both, even going the extra step of adding some masala on top of the raw onion. I add this request in the "notes" section on UberEats so it's very kind of them to not only pay attention to it but also throw it in free of charge. The biryani comes with complimentary raita as well. My boyfriend loves their butter chicken and unlike a lot of other Indian places in Chicago, rice is included :) They have a nice spice spectrum so my bf can enjoy their medium level without sweating and I can get my food spicy enough that I need water breaks. Thank you Mild 2 Spicy!!!

Yelp
Arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday and within 45 minutes the place filled up which was a great sign! We ordered the chicken Korma (spicy, beware it's truly hot!) lamb biryani and babycorn manchurian. Really flavorful food and all of the staff was very kind and attentive. Will be sure to be back again.
