"The Mission’s neighborhood market is run by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), the same org that manages the big market outside the Ferry Building. It reopened for spring on Thursday, March 11, with more than 20 vendors, including pastured eggs and fresh tortillas.  Days: Thursdays" - Becky Duffett

Google
A good variety of ~15 produce vendors and another ~10 selling ready to eat foods in late March, everything from flowers, cheese, baked goods, hummus and pita chips, empanadas, and ugly produce. Love that there are vendors that value affordable pricing. I was surprised to learn it's split across 2 streets and there's a live musician. The staff say as the season progresses, more vendors will return.

Google
On the smaller side, but there’s a decent variety of produce, meat/eggs, dairy, and food stalls. If you walk around you can find competitive prices for certain items.

Sadly, the Mission Market can no longer really be called a "farmers market": most stands are run by know-nothing teen-agers, not unlike MacDonalds up the street – they know nothing about the produce they are selling, and don't seem to care much. Thankfully, we have an ACTUAL farmers market in the neighborhood, on Saturday mornings up on 24th Street. Don't waste your money or your time on this mess.

Small farmer's market on Thursdays. Opens at 3pm. You can find all the essentials and some nice food stands too.

Google
Great community market!! Maps says that the market is open until 7pm but the sign in the market says its open until 9pm!! Tho, most of the stands get closed around 7pm. There was buncha great stuff from different spiced hummus to squash blossoms!

Google
Beautiful setting in San Francisco's Mission district, 22nd and Bartlett) venders extremely friendly . The once a week market ( spring through fall) offers exceptional vegetables, fruits , food etc . Well worth checking out.

First time there today and definitely plan to go back. Friendly faces, fresh produce, appetizing grub and most importantly, great community.

It's always a good time at the farmers market. The fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, honey, oils, stones, flowers , live music, & food you can take home fresh prepared by local hands has become a staple in my weekly schedule of things to do in my city on Thursday afternoons from 4pm until 8pm. Cone one & all. It's family friendly so rowdies be mindful & simply chill. Your pets are welcome as well with a stand dedicated to all their needs.

Yelp
Mission Community Market is an awesome Farmer's Market. They are only open once a week every Thursday from 3pm to 7pm. I went with some dumplings and vegan empanada. Both hit the spot. I picked up some organic: cordyceps mushrooms the first time ever buying them fresh kale strawberries Friendly folks and good to support your local Farmer's Market. I will be back.

Yelp
A mighty market. Blue House Farms - sweet, tasty heirloom tomatoes. Green Thumb Farms - perfect squash and aromatic cilantro. Sonoma County Meat Co. - inexpensive options such as beef stew and carne asada-style meats; pricier cuts such as lamb chops. Bolita Masa - tetelas, tlayocos, salsas...perfect for fast cooking. Norte 54 - puffy conchas, melt in your mouth polis, and abuelita's chocolate chip cookies. Pro-tip: warm your cookies in the microwave for 15 seconds on low setting.

Yelp
My husband came to SF to get some shoes and ended up in the mission. Wow, has this area changed. However, one joy was that we ran into this lovely market. I absolutely loved it! And I expected to because this is a CUESA market and theirs are quite good. The food choices were excellent and I loved that there were so many independent, crafty people selling their goods. To top it all of, my husband ran into a food truck with a porchetta. Too bad I don't live or work in the area. Too bad I don't spend much time in the 24th and Mission area. Too bad this is the last market of the season. But none of that is a reason for less stars. I would only come back if I happened to be in the area which probably won't happen. But I'm glad we went and shopped.

Dennis A.

Yelp
By far my least favorite farmers market in SF. Highly overpriced, a sparse selection of produce and the few food trucks that make it out can also be found at other locations throughout the week. If you are looking for hard to find ingredients or good fresh produce that wont break the bank, this is not the place for you. If you however would like a pint of $18 blueberries, this will be right up your alley!

Jon B.

Yelp
Strawberries abound! And blackberries and raspberries!! My cup overrunneth. More fresh produce than you can conceive of, and at way better prices than Whole Foods. Then check out the nuts, the butters, the eggs, the milk, the vegetables! Don't miss out on the rotisserie chicken either. It's wonderful. Also glowing reviews for the samosas and roti vendor! Come here if you want to delight in wonderful goods that feed the local economy.

Yelp
Why MCM is My Favorite: 1) It's small so the vibe is chill. 2) It's neighborhoody with a block party vibe. 3) No 8am wake up time required. (4pm-8pm on a Thursday? Poifect!) 4) It has a little bit of everything: nuts, cheese, fruit, veggies, flowers, kettle corn, street eats and goodies from Marla's Bakery. Recently, I was very tempted by the heirloom tomatoes and organic melons. 5) Live music and kids rocking out. 6) Roli Roti's crazy delicious 1/2 Rack of Ribs ($15) and Roasted Potatoes (lg $6). Voila! Dinner is served. 7) Floral eye candy like Blue House Farm's blue organic wildflowers for $5. Treat Yourself!

Yelp
Boy am I glad that I have exceptional lovely friends that enjoy cooking...and best of all - cooking things that I like to eat. I met up with some friends here last week to pick up some groceries for an epic meal. Though the wind was in full force - I was excited to see that Mission Community Market is still flourishing and still just as darling as ever. I picked up an incredible persimmon, carrot, and sweet potato juice. I sampled crisp asian pears. I noshed on unique dried fruits. I picked up some of my favorite smoked salmon. I tried pickled mushrooms. I indulged in cartons of robust raspberries. Our meal that evening was absolutely beautiful. All of the ingredients were hand-picked and hand grown with love and care. You can't beat a homemade meal - made with organic ingredients. Mission Community Market manifests magical meals on the regular. Trust.

Yelp
Website: http://www.missioncommunitymarket.org/ Organizer: local neighborhood association Season: open all year Schedule: Thursdays 4-8 pm Check Twitter or Facebook for market updates: http://twitter.com/MissionMercado http://www.facebook.com/mission.community.market MCM is following on the footsteps of other evening farmer's markets (ie. Upper Haight, Castro), so that neighborhood residents can shop after work. The location is on a block parallel to Mission, near the Make Out Room bar. Perhaps it's easier to find by reference: on the street behind Foreign Cinema and Medjool restaurants. It's a small FM but the assortment of fresh produce vendors is VERY good. So far no breads or bakeries (other than cookies from the Sweet Constructions street vendor). It's "less hip" and a more down to earth FM. I know that residents appreciate having this place available to them. There's live music performers, plus special performances to celebrate Latin American holidays, soon to be scheduled. It includes a few street food vendors too (pupusas, empanadas), plus a tent from El Perol restaurant - good tamales ($3) and a few other Peruvian starters. The pictures I uploaded do a better job of showing what you'll find.

Yelp
(See pics) Review #1352. A small version of a regular farmers market happening on Thursday 4-8pm, a great way to do some after work grocery shopping comparing with most other farmers market. True, it's only a little less than a block long, but it's packed with goodies, most small business owner products with a few slightly more established merchants. Freshly made pasta (3 times a week) that will last about a week, fresh with good kick taste cheese, certified veggies and fresh eggs, flourless cakes (use almond flour!), 4505 Meats, fresh flowers, and the usual food trucks but in tent format (Onigilly, Peter's Kettle Corn, etc, except Roli Roti still has its whole rotisserie! going on.) Granted, most people can get really fresh at most local produce stores and while many might be organic, they do not go through the pricey certification process. But the fun part of shopping in a street always gives me a very nostalgic feeling. The prices were competitive and people were very friendly. It's the Mission air that yields a laid back relaxing atmosphere that builds this community like no where else, even after all the different generations of changes. There's also a couple folks playing music, making it almost like OtG style.

Yelp
Small one block Farmer's Market however...I got the BEST service from the vendors at this market compared to any other Farmer's Market I have been to in the city. Great baked goods and amazing produce. I bought the best Organic Strawberries and the vendor gave me a couple to eat while was deciding on how much to purchase. Handmade pasta....WHAAAT?? Rodi Roti to boot! Love it! Love it! Love it! Great live music too!

Maitai N.

Yelp
Very very big fan of this Farmer's market! I buy most of the fresh veggies and fruits here:) Especially spring is the perfect season to find yummy sweet strawberries at this market. Shopped a lot again as usual today..:p

Denise C.

Yelp
Nice market. I was going to the Make Out Room for a LitQuake event when I saw all the vendor booths. I felt like I needed to check out the market. I had never known about this one. This one is at night. I wonder how and why they chose 22nd St. I stopped by some booths. I bought a pastry from Flour Chylde Bakery.

Yelp
What, where & when: A small farmers market on 22nd & Bartlett, Thursday evenings 4-8pm. Circling the area for a parking spot one night, we noticed a closed-off street, which was peculiar because I didn't hear 'bout no nighttime street fair! Turned out to be the Mission Community Market. Reminded me of the good ol' days: everything local--musicians, vendors, kids & grandparents from that hood--all commingling in one happy street event. I remember this tight sense of community when I was growing up & it's refreshing to see the Mission & its supporters bring back that neighborhoody feeling. Last Thursday, I saw: Dandelion Chocolates, 4505 Meats, Chaac Mool, Peter's Kettle Corn, baked goods from Arizmendi, popsicles from Pop Nation, Bread SRSLY (never heard of them), etc., in addition to fresh looking produce stands. Get your healthy on!

Yelp
I love this market! Such a great community resource. I lived on Bartlett Street from 2001 to 2009 and the god-forsaken stretch between 21st and 22nd was always my least favorite part of the street. Thank goodness Mission Community Market arrived to help make Thursday nights there more happy, vibrant, fresh and healthy. Instead of trying to gentrify the street, the market makes a huge effort to be an authentic part of the neighborhood, showcasing local vendors, musicians, accepting EBT, and just bringing a lot of good energy and joy to the neighborhood. Their volunteers will even watch your dog while you shop! It's also great for commuters who pass through the 24th Street BART area on their way home from work. The rotating variety of food trucks, plus 4505 Meats cooking up burgers means you can pick up your fresh fruits and veggies for the week AND get dinner. Thank you MCM for making this awesome event happen every week, and all the farmers and vendors who come out to make sure the neighborhood has fresh, farm to table goodies!

Yelp
*Deep sigh of contentment* I feel so... blessed... to live only a block away from this weekly farmers market. Really, I do. It's a very small market on 22nd and Bartlett, between the parking garage and that little bar that always smells like pot when I walk by... What is that place called? *Looks it up on Yelp* Oh, "The Revolution Cafe". Got that? For such a small market, the variety is impressive. You can get fresh, organic, and local produce (cheaper and MUCH better quality than nearby Valencia Whole Foods), a delicious burger from 4505 Meats, Dandelion Chocolate (beautiful chocolates locally made in small batches from nothing but cocoa beans and sugar), smoked salmon and lox, Arizmendi baked goods, flowers, vegan soap and skincare, nuts, cheese, popcorn, and the list goes on. There's also plenty of seating if you want to munch on dinner or a snack that you just picked up, and live music, too. Additionally, all the vendors I've met here are super friendly, happy to give free samples, and eager to give you the best they have to offer when you do make a purchase. ANNND a lot of these vendors accept credit cards! I also love that it's on Thursdays from 4-8PM, so I can conveniently pick up groceries after work. Because who really wants to get up early on a Saturday morning to do that?

Jason B.

Yelp
Diversity. All good communities blend people of different backgrounds. This is certainly true of this community every Thursday night from 4-8pm. Walking the block-long market we listened to music, sampled jams, talked bread preservation, sampled sweets, met painters and were versed on the best kinds of dates. Very much a friendly, five star community.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
What a treasure of a market - it's like Heart of the City, but without redundancy or sketch. All the stalls and all the produce look gorgeous. Furthermore, there's a program called Chef's Market Box https://www.goodeggs.com/missionmercado - in which you can purchase a meal for 2-4 people sourced from what's seasonal at the market from the farmers. Noteworthy local chefs create the recipe, and you get to impress at home without trolling grocery store aisles and piecing things together. You need to order the box a day or more in advance from the website, but trust me, you'll make it and you'll make a good impression on whoever you make it for. I was impressed with the portion size @ $10 per person, and so smitten with the fennel beet strawberry radish mint salad + fresh pasta with brocollini and squash that I made. Yes, I made that.

Brian S.

Yelp
The Mission's farmer's market is awesome. Every Thursday I can get my organic produce fix. Today, I went and landed some maple almonds (there is a bulk nut vendor), some broccoli, and a portabella mushroom. You can go pretty crazy here (I have) since the prices are good; however, I took it easy this day. There are bunch of food trucks to choose from should you be hungry on the spot and very entertaining live music acts. The organizers of this farmer's market have cultivated a really nice atmosphere where adults and children can stroll, shop, and be entertained.

Yelp
I can't tell you how excited I am that this finally happened. I can't tell you how I have lamented being unable to get to the Alemany or Noe Valley farmers' markets (ok, too lazy to get up that early on a weekend) and too thrifty (and lazy) to BART to the Ferry Building. For many a year, Bi-Rite has been my only option for fresh, tasty, local produce. No longer! A few weeks ago, Mission Community Market opened a mere two blocks--two blocks!--from my house (and I mean short-ways blocks, not long-ways). And, bonus, it's open during hours that reasonable people are out and about and able to run errands (Thursdays, 4-8 pm). Although it's unlikely it will ever be anything like approaching Alemany in size and variety, the number of vendors has been growing. In addition to tons of veggies & herbs and a reasonable amount of fruit (with most vendors offering tastes before you buy), there is also usually a vendor selling lots of different kinds of nuts, a flower stand, and people selling fresh-made juices. Don't forget the street food vendors! Grab a papusa or emapanada to munch on while you shop. While the quality is quite good, Mission Community Market is not particularly cheap. I haven't been to The Ferry Building farmers' market in a while, but from what I remember, their prices are comparable. Out of curiosity, I did some price comparing with Bi-Rite, and MCM is only a tad cheaper (eg, $3.50/lb for heirloom tomatoes vs $3.99/lb). Also, every time I've gone, I've ended up spending like $40, though, to be honest, that's more often because I can't restrain myself than because of the prices. And having tasty, fresh, organic produce whose origins you know does have a certain amount of value.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Such a happy place on Thursday afternoons. There's kids skipping around everywhere, you can learn how to eat healthy, you can buy fresh food, you can dance, and you can even play games with the community. What's great about this market is it's all-volunteer, and anyone can go. I love to stop by and buy some Peter's korn kettle, because it's the best popcorn on this Earth! Warning: make sure not to eat the whole family size bag. The collaborative members are La Cocina, The Mission Market, Revolution Cafe, Escape from New York Pizza, Loló, Shape Up San Francisco, Mission Station, SFPD, Neighborhood Parks Council, and others that make this such a great place. This community market reminds me of Off the Grid Downtown on Wednesdays and Fort Mason on Friday's, but Mission style. Wish every neighborhood had something like this for the community.

Diane V.

Yelp
Fresh produce, live music, yummy food, and pretty flowers. Great spirit! Perfect location to swing by and grab exactly what you need for dinner. Thumbs Up!

Meaghan H.

Yelp
The idea of a night market on Thursdays is brilliant! I came here because my friend was working the avocado stand. There could be a bigger selection of produce, but I was really happy about the lemon ricotta savory doughnut stand that my avocado vendor friend recommended to me. It is wonderful that they double the purchasing pose for those who are on EBT. I am happy they have a grant to do this, allowing our lower income neighbors to enjoy some of the finest things of San Francisco - great healthy foods from honest farmers. I knocked off the star for the limited selection, but I'm sure if more people find out about it, more vendors would apply to work here!

Victoria J.

Yelp
This is an amazing neighborhood market. It is really small, but for a small neighborhood market, they have everything you need. I love the vendors, the people are friendly, and the vibe is always wonderful. It's great for picking up produce for the week and they have nice pastries and the BEST kettle corn from Peter's Kettle Corn!!

Fede O.

Yelp
Great vibes and really good produce. We got a week's worth of fruit for under $15. Very awesome market with friendly people and yummy eats.

Brian J.

Yelp
Uber-awesome vibe at this smallish market that I found by chance commuting through the alleys between Valencia and Mission. And so happy I found it. This is the closest market to the ones I used to visit in Paris, in particular the organic market in the 7er. This too offers a wide variety of organic produce, but this is a fresh change from the ubiquitous mainstream typical Farmer's market folks. They also had live entertainment with seating! I can't wait to go back and I hope the weather stays warm because I can see no better place to shop and feel good. Please warm up weather and day light savings come back...

Trish Z.

Yelp
We love love this market! The vendors are so friendly and we walk away with a week's worth of produce for just under $30. We are a family of 3 and really appreciate having such a great community market in our neighborhood.

Tasha D.

Yelp
I love having a beautiful little farmer's market that I can visit on Thursday afternoons. They have Dandelion chocolate, which is fabulous; a bunch of produce stalls from local farms -- I have been known to buy a bunch of berries and go home and just eat all of them for dinner; a "make your own ramen" from hapa ramen (not so much my thing -- why charge the same for make your own ramen as for made ramen? also, with the nearby ramen pop up at the Corner on Thursdays, just go there); Arizmendi bakery offerings, cupcakes, small food trucks, the list goes on -- this community market is *always* worth a stroll through!

Nimisha G.

Yelp
The first-ever Mission Community Market opened with much fanfare (Mission-style) on Thursday, July 22nd. The market is the liveliest in town- Capoeria from Abada Capeoira , Mission musicians Classical Revolution, children and adults playing hopscotch in a dedicated play space, live mural painting, brightly colored summer produce, and locally made arts and crafts. Producers include Happy Boy Farms, Atara Farms, Twin Girls, Tomatero, Blue House, amongst a few others. You can buy hot food prepared by La Cocina and desserts from Sweet Construction. Or, indulge in locally made soaps and shampoos from Rubber Ducky Soap, a business started from the Women's Initiative. Also, check out crafts and artisans from MiSBA.

Googie G.

Yelp
I have volunteered with MCM since the beginning and it has been such a wonderful addition to this area. This is its 2nd Season and it has grown leap & bounds. The folks who run it have really worked hard to bring families together and I love that they have a program for kids there. My hats off to Jeremy Shaw & the whole staff of MCM who put it together every Thursday.

Fumi D.

Yelp
MCM is a great market with local organic farms, ready made food with BBQ and pupusa vendors, weekly entertainment. You got your fresh produce, great smoked salmon, bulk nuts, Arizmendi breads, the cupcake lady, even organic cosmetics for sale. It's affordable, blocks from home, and goes til 8 on Thursday evenings, meaning even if I'm putting in the late hours (yeah, yeah, I'm a designer), I can still usually make it to the market to get some delicious fruit and veg for the next week. The organizers of MCM are the bomb, and the vendors are the bombiest.

Rishi S.

Yelp
I love Tomatero Farms! Their produce sparkles, and is so fresh that I cannot believe it. And they are friendly, good-natured and generous Thank You for having them at the market

Megan B.

Yelp
I am so grateful for this market to be just down the street from me! Every Thursday I load up on a week's worth of veggies, fruits, cheese and olives! Yum! I LOVE IT!

Sonia C.

Yelp
I just love this market! I love the chance to pick up beautiful, local food, have a snack and run into neighbors... all with live music playing in the background. It's a pretty positive way to end a work day, that's for sure. I can't imagine the Mission without it now.

T. W.

Yelp
one of my favorite farmer's markets esp since they are open late a night. One of the biggest as well with a lot of food vendors and grocery. its very close to the abrt too and i really appreciate the fact that they keep their blog up to date so you know if they are open or not.

Yuli M.

Yelp
Others have shared why this place is good for The Mission. I will share with you that it's good for one's palate: Jimmy's fruit stand, in particular, is succulent. Just fresh food, feeling righteous about shopping for all the right reasons, a market ahead of its time.
