The 17 Best Dessert Spots In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The Mexican-Italian fusion concept at Modi in SoMa is most obvious in its churro tiramisu. It swaps classic ladyfingers for freshly fried churros that are carefully stacked and layered with slightly bitter espresso syrup and rich mascarpone cream. It’s a delicate mini Jenga tower that can be tricky to eat, but it’s worth the effort and the potential mess you’ll make." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

The 22 Best Restaurants In SoMa - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Modi is on the ground floor of the Salesforce Transit Center, and, given its proximity to the many nearby office buildings, you'll likely need to deal with hordes of logo-emblazoned backpacks to eat here. But the food and friendly service should smooth things over. Modi mashes up Italian and Mexican dishes, like some very good birria lasagna, tacos capesante and funghi, and a churro tiramisu to end the meal on a high note. Try to score a seat on their covered, heated patio for your next neighborhood date night. The twinkle lights and vines will momentarily make you forget that you're eating dinner below a fleet of Greyhound buses." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

Modi pulls off its menu of Italian and Mexican mashups - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"A good restaurant inside a bus terminal sounds like a Mad Libs punchline, but Modi is no joke. The place, inside the Salesforce Transit Center, feels like it belongs on the Embarcadero, especially with its twinkle lights and vine-encrusted patio. But the menu, on the other hand, is new territory for the city, with a lineup of non-gimmicky Italian and Mexican hybrid dishes. (Think good tacos with scallops and frisée, birria lasagna, and grilled nopales parmigiana.) There’s a chance you’ll have to battle with corporate buyouts and team-building dinners to get a table here, but jazzy Miley Cyrus covers and friendly service make it a nice choice for a casual post-work date night or small group get-together. Food Rundown Parmigiana Di Nopales A slightly mixed experience. The nopales are smoky and grilled until they just have a little bit of chew left. But the layers of cheese are overwhelming and muddle the flavors. photo credit: Patrick Wong Tacos Capesante & Funghi Our favorite taco. It's a bit messy to eat, but well worth it. The tortillas are pliable but snappy, cradling a fistful of mushrooms and charred chunks scallops that have some bounce left in them. photo credit: Patrick Wong Birria Lasagna The beef is so moist and soft, you could eat it with a compostable straw. We wish the lasagna noodles had a bit more presence, but we fully understand why the staff recommends this dish above all others. photo credit: Patrick Wong Spaghetti Chorizo And Clams A standout in the same league as the birria lasagna. It’s a combo we’ve rarely had, with savoriness from the chorizo and brininess from the clams. We’d get this again and again. photo credit: Patrick Wong Pizza Regina Margherita Modi does the classic pie well. The chewy crust is blistered to the point of almost being burnt, and it’s loaded with cheese. Some parts of the crust are a little wet and floppy, but that's easy to overlook. photo credit: Patrick Wong Churro Tiramisu Delicious. Modi swaps out traditional ladyfingers for freshly fried churros. And while we love the stacked presentation of the churros, we'd prefer just dipping them in the mascarpone cream instead of having it slicked onto the plate. photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong

Everything was absolutely delicious! I loved the unique fusion of Italian and Mexican flavors — such a creative and tasty combination. From the bold spices to the comforting pasta, every dish was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
This place has cool fusion dish ideas so I picked it for a work lunch. Everyone had options and enjoyed the food and vibe. The lasagna was amazing (my favorite dish)!! The cauliflower and pizzas were great too. The apps and pizzas made it easy to share and try different things. I especially liked the vibe of the place. The outdoor seating was really nice with great decor and heating. I was able to make reservations too.

Google
Very interesting concept and cuisine of Italian and mexican cuisine. The location is great and if you have large groups then this is a perfect spot. We came here as a large group for an early dinner and must say we had a great time. Good food, lots of great variety.

If you’ve never been, it will be one of your new favorite restaurants. They are insane about their service and they are good about the details. The food was amazing and drinks are not pricey (although the lemon drop was on the weaker side). We tried almost everything and fell in love with this wonderfully constructed menu of fusion between Mexican and Italian food. Must try!

Google
Came here with a big group for a friends birthday and the service was excellent. Our server kept on top of the drinks and the birthday celebration after dinner was a lot of fun. We had a couple pizzas to share, and most of us got either the Birria lasagna or the ravioli. The food was delicious, but definitely heavy on the Italian — I’d say it’s probably more “Mexican inspired” than fusion. I loved the ravioli and would come back just for that. They had a few vegetarian options but only one vegan dish that was a side. The outdoor patio was such a nice vibe (with space heaters!), though I was surprised by the DJ.

Google
What a great innovative concept, a Mexican - Italian fusion! The chef is Mexican-Italian and the owner from Sicily and bring a lot of expertise and great taste to the table. Everything is really good, we tried the arancine, wagyu tacos, octopus and the churros, all excellent!

Google
I think they infuse the lobster with lobster. It was flavor packed. They didn’t cover it with sauce and butter. It was outstanding. Then beyond that the service was A1. I haven’t walked into or out of a restaurant in a while with that many greetings and farewells. Thank you to the staff there.

Google
I've been here for dinner and I have to say that the restaurant is wonderful! I love the flowers and the tropical style, which reminds me of the jungle and the colors!, I was with a Mexican girl and we started with two spicy margaritas and three appetizers: wagyu tacos with gorgonzola: good tasty but I think it lacks that touch that binds the ingredients like a sauce(?), then the mixed frying, good and finally the Sicilian tostadas: we agree it was our favorite, Very good fresh and in the mouth you feel different flavors, let's move on to the first: I took the elote ravioli and the tamarindo pulp: I liked the ravioli very good: the elote filling It's good with lemon sauce, at the end we also took a sea bass with pesto and spicy sauce: it's good! Finally let's close with the churro tiramisu that this is also something never seen before! A mention also to Gianluca our nice and good server and very at the but you immediately feel at home and he made us laugh! Well done, bravi! Ciao!

Yelp
Didn't disappoint- sexy ambiance, a packed bar, and a DJ spinning great music. The energy is high, and the dining experience is just as impressive. Their front of house staff is so hospitable , b/c packed wait service was a tad slow but then the food came out fast! House Focaccia- An absolute must! Fluffy, perfectly seasoned, and damn addictive. Ahi Tuna Tostada- Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully portioned. A perfect starter. Ravioli- My favorite dish of the night! The sauce is everything--rich, balanced, and unforgettable. A must-order. Steak & Mezcal- Cooked to perfection, it's got flavor. Spicy margarita well crafted Let's just say the black pepper moment is a showstopper! Great date night spot or GNO. Also so much fun when going to First Thursdays the location is perfect.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night at around 5:30 and we were seated right away! The vibes are fun & cute! They have heaters everywhere so you'll be nice and warm the whole time. The service was great in the beginning, we ordered our drinks and received them in less than 5 minutes. The food also came out very fast. But as we were finishing our dinner, the waiter became scarce and when we finally got his attention and put in another drink order, it took about 15-20 minutes to come in. Kind of a buzzkill having to wait for so long. On to the food! Lobster Tacos: These were nice and meaty, my husband loved these & he gets a side of the chipotle sauce to dip them in. Birria Lasagna: These were delicious, my favorite thing that we ordered. It had a lot of meat and flavor. Aztec Salad: This was just okay! I didn't like the polenta croutons that this was paired with. Trompitos Al Pastor: While these were tender, I feel like they didn't have much flavor. For the price point, I thought this place was just okay! I do like how the menu items are unique. I think that I would have given this place a 4/5 though if the service didn't falter towards the end. The place was not crowded, so there wasn't really an excuse for the poor service towards the end.

Yelp
My group and I decided to check out this restaurant during peak dinner hours on a weekday night. I was pleasantly surprised since we were seated almost immediately without a reservation. We ordered two different pies as well as a small platter of corn ribs to share for a group of 4. I definitely don't think the portion sizes were enough for us in hindsight. But overall I was impressed with the quality of their pizza! The pizza diabla was my favorite one since the chorizo was a perfect topping for the spicy sauce. The corn ribs were a miss though - the chipotle mayo sauce carried the dish hard since the grilled flavor was basically non-existent. That being said I'd come back again!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with a few friends on a Thursday evening. The location is nice; although we were not able to be dropped off right next to the restaurant due to road closures. The vibe is chill, but doesn't scream Mexico or Italy. They have videos of various locations along the Amalfi coast and Capri playing on the TV screen outside. When we checked into the restaurant for some reason, they could not find the Resy , despite there being a reservation through Resy. However, they were able to seat us immediately. The service was subpar. One of the guests repeatedly told the person clearing the table that he was not done with his food during the appetizers, but the bus boy took his plate regardless, ignoring him.The waitress offered him a new drink, but then took his drink that he wasn't done with and then brought it back after several minutes. It was very awkward. The food was decent. My favorite was the cheese dip with truffles. There were a lot of mushroom mushrooms, not a strong truffle taste unfortunately but still really good. The ravioli was also good. People really liked the corn. The food for the main courses did not all come out at once. The tacos came out last, approximately 10 minutes after everyone else's food. I would have rated this place higher, but the service really brought things down.
google avatar

Tash B.

Yelp
Beautiful decor, fun patio vibes. Come here for drinks and & corn only. The rest of the food was so bland. Ravioli didn't even taste like it had any salt, acid or heat. Scallop tacos were so fishy the smell was overwhelming. Service was scarce. Easy opportunities to elevate the food experience in my opinion. Just more seasoning and thoughtfulness in the dishes. Unlikely to return for dinner, probably will for drinks.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant near salesforce. This is a fusion of Mexican and Italian food. The interior is just so gorgeous! We ordered the birria lasagna and spaghetti with chorizo and clams. I really like the concept of birria lasagna however it didn't blow me out of the water. I think it could be spicer and more flavorful to really add the Mexican touch. I think there is room for improvement. I did really enjoy the spaghetti with chorizo, I would order that again. Also, side note my drink had a bug in it. I had to request it to be remade and again another gnat flew into it. Idk if anything can be done with the gnat/bug issue.

Yelp
I was recommended to eat here by a good friend! Met the owner and GM. This place has a collective vibe that brings you away from the rest of SF. I get a tropical energy and everyone was attentive and friendly while dining. Definitely 10 out of 10

Yelp
Modi is a very lively and upbeat place. Unfortunately the fusion food isn't the strongest in the area. Food: House foccaccia - It's very well seasoned and pairs really well with the avocado butter. This was our starter but was also the highlight. Birria lasagna - It really lacked really any flavor and any resemblance of 'birria' would skip Mexican Pizza - I think this is no longer on the menu but it was really bad. Undercooked and didn't really have a mexican flavor to it. We were also sat next to speakers playing very loud music, for some they might enjoy it, but it was difficult to really enjoy our time here.
google avatar

Steffi G.

Yelp
Modi is a must visit for anyone looking to try something truly unique. This Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant blends bold flavors seamlessly. The Beef Tartare is fresh, simply divine. The Ceviche is equally impressive. The ambiance is chic, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and every bite feels like a culinary adventure. If you're in the area, Modi is a must!
google avatar

Surbhi C.

Yelp
The food is actually very decent. They have a live dj which plays good music. The drinks were average!
google avatar

Edmond T.

Yelp
We were excited about the opening of Modí, an interesting concept of Italian food with a Mexican twist. However, the food was a mixed bag. The best dish of the night was the tuna tostadas. Another popular "signature dish" was the birria lasagna. The steak we ordered medium rare came well done but was immediately corrected and a new steak was fired and cooked to our liking with no issues. Everyone that works there is still trying to figure things out and it shows. "A" for efforts! Probably a better happy hour spot! Love the bar area and the vibe!
google avatar

Yelp
I attended with a group of 7 and was very pleased with the restaurant! Our waiter, Bobby, was super attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Truly gave us the whole Bobby experience! The portion sizes were excellent, the flavors and quality felt on point, and timeliness was great as well. We ordered 2 appetizers, 5 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 drinks. The total came out to $300 which was very reasonable, and we had extra food to bring back! Only recommendation would be to improve the outdoor seating. The heaters weren't quite as strong as one would hope. However, if you're looking for a place that'll serve good food, with great company, you'll find that here!

Yelp
Boyfriend and I were intrigued by the fusion. I think this place is relatively new, and you can definitely tell. While everyone was pleasant, there is an air of chaos in this place. We got to the restaurant and were told we could be seated at a table, but on the way there were switched to the bar. When we turned to the bar it was full, so they had us stand to the side until the bar cleared out. The bar staff (particularly the man with the beard) were extremely attentive. All mistakes were resolved swiftly because of their service. They made our night worthwhile! The food was a mixed bag. We enjoyed the tuna tostadas, but the al pastor pizza dough had a slightly funky aftertaste. While the birria lasagna was delicious, we had to send it back initially because it came to us completely cold. The second one came very quickly thanks to the bar staff that I mentioned. We ordered the tiramisu churros for dessert. They were pretty doughy (likely frozen) and did not really deliver on the tiramisu side. All in all, would probably redo this place as a happy hour spot. I feel like the appetizers and drinks might be where they shine based on the vibes.

Yelp
Two words: BIRRIA LASAGNA. GET IT. It's hella bomb! Grand opening last week in the Salesforce Transit Center is Modí from the owners of Acquolina (North Beach). They have a third resto on the way (Italian-Japanese Fusion in Union Square). Modí is open for takeout, indoor dining, and dog-friendly outdoor dining. Rezzies on Resy. M E N U Italian-Mexican Fusion inspired by the chef-owner's heritage: Apps, salads, pasta, pizza, and entrees. Full bar. HH hasn't been rolled out yet but I was told it will be 3 pm - 5 pm (call to confirm). F O O D * Complimentary Chips & Salsa: https://tinyurl.com/5fnaju5e Standard thin tortilla chips with a bright, tangy salsa verde. * Birria Lasagna: Beef birria w/ traditional lasagna pasta, tomato sauce, mozzarella ($26): https://tinyurl.com/23thpvmm IMO, some restos attempt "fusion" to be trendy and the result? An identity crisis on a plate. BUT, this is THE perfect union of Mexican and Italian cuisine that makes sense. The stewed beef birria was meltingly soft and richly spiced (not too salty), generously layered between the tender pasta sheets with stretchy mozz cheese. Seasoned with Mexican spices, the creamy tomato sauce was flavorful and earthy. Even detected something that tasted like corn to emulate quesabirrria tacos. Hearty, comforting, and hella delicious. S E R V I C E Great service and hospitality from the owner(s) and staff - friendly, attentive, and prompt. Food arrived in less than 10 minutes. A M B I A N C E Tulum meets Mediterranean coast vibes with teals, golds, and greenery. Ample seating both indoors and outdoors. Front patio is covered and heated. P A R K I N G Take public transportation or a ride share on the weekdays. Easier street parking on Saturdays. Overall, the city has no shortage of excellent Mexican and Italian restos but Modí is bringing something new, seamlessly blending the two cuisines together....while offering great service and vibes. Def worth the visit. Get the Birria Lasagna! =)
google avatar

Meg G.

Yelp
This was an average meal unfortunately! the fusion concept had been intriguing but in reality the flavour choices were a bit odd and none of the dishes were particularly memorable for a pretty steep price point. In terms of service, we did go when it was packed (weekday afternoon) and so the staff seemed overwhelmed and thus the service was slow. The cocktails were delicious though!
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
Cool concept to fuse Italian with Mexican. I really enjoyed the birria lasagna and calamari. The cocktail I had fell a little flat, but I would try this place out again
google avatar

Yelp
I visited Modi's gorgeous space under Salesforce Park on a Saturday Night during their soft opening. The inside is bright and vibrant while their heated outdoor seating is darker and more relaxed. Started off with the Tacos Capesante e Funghi. The scallops could have been seared a bit longer and the scallop mushroom mix could have used some salt, but overall it was still a pleasant dish. The soft corn tortillas had a really nice homemade feel and really added a good earthiness to the tacos. The Birria Lasagna was very intriguing. It was super hearty and filling and I think the fusion of the slow cooked meat and a baked pasta really makes a lot of sense. It has the makings of a signature dish; really enjoyed this one. Dessert was a Churros Tiramisu that definitely didn't look like what I'd pictured in my head. It was more like churros with tiramisu-style dipping sauce. I have a weakness for churros so I'd be happy with the dish no matter what. The waiter, Dushan, was very kind and mentioned that their grand opening would be 11/21 with live music etc. Modi has a lot of potential and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this place evolves and improves!

Yelp
Great service that's very friendly. Amazing food that is truly fusion. Not two menus but fusion food. Great vibes too! Look at those lights!
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
MODI in the Financial District is super convenient, especially being right in the Salesforce transit center. The Italian-Mexican fusion menu is fun and creative--I tried a great pasta dish with corn after some interesting appetizers. The food was solid, though the service was a bit confusing since we had a couple of different servers throughout. Overall, it's a good spot for a work get-together, and I'd go back.
google avatar

Guisela L.

Yelp
Went here for drinks and appetizers. We got to meet the chef! What an amazing story of bringing two worlds together - Latin and Italian flavors and cultures together. I have to come back to try the birria lasagna but honestly the appetizers we tried were so yummy also. Homemade focaccia with avocado butter - 5/5 Mr. Papa - 5/5 Pulpo tamarindo - 5/5 Arancini alla Mexicana - 5/5 Old fashioned - 4/5 Lemon drop - 5/5 Chef Marco Avila - 100/5 :)

Yelp
Ambiance and service were incredible. Same for food and drinks! We ordered the Queso Fundido, Med Ceviche Mixto, Tacos, Grilled Chicken Plate, Aztec Caesar with Chicken, Marg Pizza, aNd Churros amongst 4 people. Absolutely delicious and already excited to come back! Did not catch our servers name but he was a younger Serbian man who made our experience 10/10.
google avatar

Gustavo G.

Yelp
What a great experience I had at Modi, service was warm, from the moment I walked in. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure everything was perfect. That Italian-Mexican ambience was fantastic, the floorFood? absolutely delicious. I got the Birria Lasagna and Tiramisu churros as dessert, check pictures above! Attention to details was impressive, even from servers that were not serving me. I couldn't say who was the manager but everyone around was paying attention. Definitely coming back to try everything Modi has to offer.
google avatar

Yelp
Modí is a very solid restaurant and I'm glad to see that there's great food near the Transit Center! The menu was super unique and I loved how everything blended together. We were greeted warmly by the hostess before being led to our spacious outdoor but heated table. This would be a great option if you have a large party. My table opted to start with the street corn and the focaccia. The focaccia was amazing when paired with the avocado butter which was crispy and airy. The corn had amazing flavors. I ordered the risotto and thought it was just alright - it was on the dryer side for me and was not the hugest fan of the bone marrow. For the price, the portion also fell on the smaller side for this dish. However, the churro tiramisu was a great way to end the night. It was just the right amount of sweetness and the churros were nice and crispy. Great addition to the area and will be back to try the birria lasagna!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
I was a excited for the Birria lasagna but it came out cold. The meat in the middle seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. Our waiter was great and offered to heat it up but I had already lost my appetite and didn't want to eat microwaved lasagna. The flavor was okay but I felt like the menu was trying to hard to be different that all the flavors felt unbalanced and chaotic. If they focused on refining the menu and making sure the basic standard are met, I think the restaurant has potential. We also got the croquettes and cactus starter and I was unimpressed with the flavor. The highlight of my meal was the focaccia bread and my Shirley temple. The interior is pretty but the food was disappointing.
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
TL;DR: 5/5 all around for the soft open. Highly recommend trying this place out asap before traffic picks up I got the Birria lasagna, Pizza Diabla, and Tartare Con Uovo Fritto Y Salsa De Chile Poblano. For drinks, I got the Espresso martini. All of this just hit right! The food felt fresh and clean, the service was excellent, and the decor and ambiance for the soft opening was great. I am not sure how the ambiance and service will change with the official opening and higher influx of traffic but my experience so far has been excellent. The also have a FiDi Fast menu which is meant for lunch on the weekdays. It is slightly pricey for some items but on the whole it is reasonable especially given the quality of the food. Excited to come here again and see how it holds up.

Yelp
This place is such a vibe. It's a Mexican Italian restaurant which gives it a fusion take on Italian food. The pizza and pasta are not traditional but very flavorful. It's a hip place that has outdoor seating with heat lamps that gives it a Tulum vibe. Came here a few times with friends and it's always a good time. Great food and lots of options for wine and drinks. The place really knows its wine. A good spot to have a group dinner and delicious drinks. Fun atmosphere.

Lina B.

Yelp
Modi is a gem! They've somehow fused Italian and Mexican cuisines in a way that's both creative and absolutely delicious. I had the steak, and it was perfection--so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and it paired beautifully with the risotto. The homemade focaccia with avocado butter was incredible and a must-try. The prosciutto pizza was fluffy and packed with flavor. Beyond the food, the vibes were amazing. The restaurant is beautiful, the outdoor patio is warm and cozy, and the staff couldn't have been better. We had such a great experience and can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Ema P.

Yelp
Modi is the newest must try restaurant. The fusion of Mexican and Italian cuisines is executed elegantly. The service was great, as was the aesthetic. The upscale and glamorous interior design is the perfect backdrop for the creative and delicious menu. We tried the ceviche, tuna tostada, the Birria lasagna, steak (everyone's favorite though it was hard to choose), the risotto and a lot more.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Great food and super friendly service! We came on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We loved the street corn and spaghetti chorizo+clams, as well as our server's rec on the pizza. Everything was super flavorful. We'll be back to try the other menu items!
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary and it was magical! The staff was so welcoming and made our night so special. The food was TO DIE FOR .... The Birria Lasagna and Al Pastor Pizza were innovative, fresh, and DELICIOUS. We already can't wait to go back. And don't worry about being cold while sitting outside, the heaters and closed in area were nice and cozy (even during a cold winter night)

Austin L.

Yelp
Great food and service! We sat outdoors and the ambiance was fantastic. I highly recommend the wagyu tacos and birria lasagna. Will be returning :)
google avatar

Richard G.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time trying this restaurant and I loved it even more than the 1st time. The risotto with bone marrow was absolutely delicious. The churro tiramisu was fun and creative dessert. I can't wait to go back.

Michelle L.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with reservations for my birthday at Modi. We had a party of 7. The outdoor patio was warm and cozy despite the storm that evening. Comfortable, well lit with great music! All of the food was amazing! The oysters, the lobster pizza, NY steak & cocktails were all 5 . They have a resident DJ on Thursday nights which adds to the already amazing atmosphere. The cocktails did not disappoint! The owners were so friendly and appreciative that we chose Modi to celebrate my birthday. We can't wait to go back!

Carson M.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday with a large group - location was conveniently located near the Transbay terminal downtown. The menu was an interesting concept mixing Italian and Mexican classics. I ordered the steak burrito, which was very good, the pizza and lasagna ordered by others in my group received solid marks. Cauliflower appetizer was just ok, but the focaccia was great with the avocado butter stealing the show. Overall would recommend.

Ruth M.

Yelp
Excellent lobster tacos, arancini balls, and ceviche. Desserts were delicious too. Charming spot

Shane P.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! The owners and staff went out of their way to make our rather large group feel so welcome and special. Our requests changed a bit and they were so accommodating. The food was next level and the server Bobby was so delightful and charming. All of us that were there will absolutely be regulars. Thanks for making our night so special.
google avatar

Yelp
Modi has definitely got a wonderful vibe going, such a wonderful menu and the waiters and service is top notch. Love the Italian-Mexican fusion combination and they have live DJing. I forgot I was in San Francisco :)

Gleek F.

Yelp
Vibe is great. that's all. i ordered a $17 glass of wine and they were super conservative with the portion. i have had more poured in my glass when doing a taste at a wine bar. pretty insulting. food is pricey and didn't feel like the quality reflected it. i would come back but the wine thing pissed me off so i probably won't.
google avatar

Kavi K.

Yelp
Everything about our experience here was 5 stars. We came here with about 12 people for a company happy hour and will certainly be back! The Mexican-Italian mashup was the fusion I didn't know I was missing (recs: bone marrow risotto, pizza diabla, and the churros). The cocktails, similarly, had just the right mexican/italian mix without making it weird (recs: Aztec Revolver, Smoke and Mirrors). The service was immpecable. From the events team (Matteo) to our main server (Dan), every detail was thought through and every effort to ensure we had a good time was made. And finally, the vibe. We sat outside, but it still felt warm, cozy, and oh-so vibey. We can't wait to go back!

Service was great but the food was surprisingly mid given the price and hype behind it. Dishes are creative, sure, but the food itself didn't have flavor pairings that worked well. While the focaccia was good, the al pastor cauliflower just tasted like steamed cauliflower, the ravioli and spaghetti were missing depth and the pizzas were just ok

Yelp
Tried the new hot spot in Sf and it didn't disappoint! We came with my husband for a date night and had the best time, everything was fantastic - the best of both worlds, the Birria Lasanga and Stake is what I'll definitely be coming back for! Super friendly staff and fun atmosphere, highly recommend!

Yelp
Delicious lunch. Attentive service. Colorful and decorative atmosphere. We tried the ceviche mixto, the octopus, and the branzino with half achiote and pesto. We will come back to try other items.

Yelp
My meal here was okay. The ambiance was really nice. As is typical for SF, the prices are high and some of the portions are really small. By far the best thing I had was the focaccia with avocado butter. It was amazing. But my Aztec Caesar salad and huitlacoche pizza were not great. The huitlacoche pizza was about 75% corn with very little actual huitlacoche on it. However, it was a large pizza for the price. When the bill came the salad had gone up in price from what was listed on the menu by $3 so check your bill carefully. Some of the other dishes ordered by our group looked better than what I had, but I am in no rush to return and try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Love this spot! Super central location and chill vibe. Beautiful bar and tasty drinks! And the food? Omg. I admit I was a little skeptical when I saw Mexican/Italian fusion, but wow, everything is so good! Make sure you get the house made focaccia & avocado butter, and the birria lasagna is amazing! The manager made sure we had everything we needed and brought out a lovely house made blueberry cheesecake with a candle for the birthday girl. There's also a live DJ on weekends - the music was great on Saturday. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Not amazing. Ambiance is so chill and modern with the music playing and the staff walking around to check on folks. However, things were off. The food we ordered, seemed to take longer than other restaurants- kindly attributing this delay to the fact that it's a new restaurant and maybe they have slight flow issues at the moment. Moving on to food, we started dinner with a calamari appetizer: it was deliciously crunchy and paired super well with the sauce. I recommend it. Once we got our main plates- all of the food fell short of the expectations set by the ambiance. It was so unexpectedly disappointing. I didn't enjoy the fusion flavors of the Birria Lasanga- felt it was too sweet. More-so, the Cesar salad also seemed to have disappointed with the greens cut too large, the sauce seeming unmixed, and the flavor being off. We added chicken to the Cesar salad and the chicken was mega dry, felt powdery, & hard to chew. I'm still in shock that it was not great and have hopes that in the future, the food will be better

Yelp
What a lovely addition to the Salesforce Park area. Tasty Italian Mexican food made with love, wonderful atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating, and super friendly accommodating staff. It's aptly named after Amedeo Modigliani, an artist from Livorno, Italy who was known for challenging traditional boundaries. Pizza capricciosa and Spaghetti with clams and chorizo were delicious. Their tangy, rich and slightly sweet tomato sauce is pure perfection. Chef's kiss.
