We pretty much always stay at Marriott hotels on our trips. This was our first time at the Moxy. The location was amazingly convenient for moving our daughter into UT. The area felt safe, the parking option was great and the rooms were clean. They greeted us with a smile and gave us tokens for a couple of free drinks upon arrival. The bar staff were super nice. The central entertainment area and workout room were excellent. We wanted to also acknowledge Simone and Jaidyn for all of the help that they gave us. They were always pleasant with a smile on their faces and helped us to get what we needed done. We would definitely stay here again.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a better initial first impression of a hotel lobby! What a great vibe! Rooms are very modern, clean and efficient. I settled into a bar stool where Sidney went out of her way to welcome me with tons of food/ drink options and make me feel like a regular! Great tacos and cold beer! Highly recommend!

I had the best experience during my stay at The Moxy! Simone was the sweetest most accommodating front desk agent I’ve seen and me and my girlfriend travel a lot for work. Will absolutely be back! An absolute pleasure to chat with as well! Once you check in make sure to take a seat at the bar for a drink or 5. Wyatt and Julian will take the best care of you and make the best cocktails I’ve had in a long time! 10/10 coming back just to hang with this amazing trio!

I was made to feel right at home the moment I walked in. Jenn at the bar is a fantastic conversationalist- it felt like talking to an old friend :) She even went out of her way to look for Drambuie downstairs in storage, and when none could be found, took the time to look up and then make a delicious alternative to a Rusty Nail. I have such respect for people who take their work (but not themselves!) seriously. The room was great- a standard Marriott experience, and you can't beat the location if you're visiting UT Austin like me.

The stay at Moxy was fine; however, it did not meet my expectations given the payment made and the standards associated with a Marriott Bonvoy property. I would like to highlight the following points for consideration: 1. The room size was notably small. 2. A refrigerator and iron box were provided only after I requested them. Additionally, there was no microwave oven or coffee kettle in the room. 3. There was no trash can inside or immediately outside the room. The designated trash area near the elevator was inconvenient, requiring a 50-meter walk from my room. 4. There was no proper chair or table for people to work. Also, water from the bathroom can leak to the room anytime. 5. The rooms were located in an area that felt somewhat uninviting and appeared shabby.

The Moxy hotel is in a great central area. Plenty to do and see nearby. If you are looking for a nice cocktail you don’t even need to leave the building. Ask for Sydney and she will take care of you and can whip up anything you need.

Travel to check out UT Austin. Great location. Rooms are smaller but set up exceptionally well. Nicely updated. Very clean and good smells throughout facility. Kind, fun and engaging staff. Free drinks chips upon check in and FREE morning coffee bar (thank you for not forcing me to buy a $6 coffee and $3 water!). Bought the $25 parking spot ahead of time. Depending on Marriott status level, late checkout times vary. Exercise room was good. This is 1 of 3 hotels I've stayed at in the last week (all Marriott or Hilton brands), Top of the list. Would absolutely be back. Nice job all. Keep it fun!

This quirky hotel offers small rooms with no closets, a fold-down wall ledge instead of a desk, and a strange shower placement and design. The nightstand is small, and has a reproduction of a old fashioned rotary phone that takes up almost all of the room on the nightstand. The restaurant (Zombie Taco) didn't seemed to be staffed when I attempted to place an order so I left after waiting several minutes; it also has a limited menu for a hotel restaurant. Hotel positives were a pleasant desk staff and a location near the university. This hotel may be a good choice for football weekends or other university-related occasions, but other hotels offer more comfort at equivalent prices.

Great hotel for a couple of nights. This is not a full service hotel with normal size hotel rooms. This is a spot to crash in a good area, with prices to match. Folks, stop writing reviews about the small rooms and lack of storage. All of that info is on the website before you book. Read up. Definitely would stay again for a night or two. Great location with good proximity to lots to do.

If you're looking for a fun and cozy spot in Austin, Moxy University is where it's at! While I can only speak for the lobby and courtyard areas, they're absolutely worth checking out. The courtyard is especially nice--perfect for hanging out, especially during their summer movie nights. It's a super cute space with a great vibe. The staff has always made an effort to make sure I'm comfortable and having a good time.

Stay away from this place. Though the bar staff are very nice, this alone is not worth spending the night here. The rooms are small but for me the worst part is the mattress in this $270 a night room. Might as well sleep on the floor. This is the absolute worst hotel bed I have ever slept on. My back is killing me as I type this. After a minute you sink straight to the bottom. I will be checking out in the morning leaving a day early. F this hotel don't recommend one bit. Best western would have been better.

I booked a pretty last minute stay at the Moxy after my hotel canceled on me about 2 weeks before my travel date. On top of being a conference weekend, there was also a big football game happening as well as Halloween weekend, so my pickings were slim. The Moxy fit the price range and they had good reviews. Normal check in is 4pm, but I showed up around 10am hoping and praying for a room. They only had one available and it was on the first floor, close to the bar. I was concerned about noise, but it ended up being fine. I slept like a baby. Seven, who checked me in, was so nice and so helpful. She really tried to find something else for me, but that was all they had at the time. Big shoutout to her for being the best. You get a drink token when you check in, which is valid for your choice of one drink. I think the options are between 2 draft beers and 2 cocktails. I had a Suntory cocktail and it was fantastic. Bartenders were always very nice and friendly. The room is your standard Moxy room. If you're a person who likes closets, unpacking in drawers, etc. then the Moxy is definitely not for you. If you're like me and just want a clean room with good WiFi to sleep in, then the Moxy will do nicely. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and would definitely recommend it to colleagues/friends.

Excellent staff and location to campus. The only reason for the 4, was the beds weren't great and there was a good amount of street noise throughout the night (which is not a surprise due to its location). Try to grab a room that doesn't face Guadalupe. The staff were awesome! The lobby is a bar / hangout area was great, with indoor and outdoor lounging. The bar had an excellent selection of liquor, along with local beer/booze. Shout out to the bartender, Wyatt, he did an amazing job working the bar and tailoring the drinks to everyone's requests.

I love the vibe of this property so much. It was my first time in Austin / ATX and I think this hotel represents a lot of the area around it, the vibe and the energy of the people surrounding it. YOU CHECK-IN at the BAR! Hello!? Afterwhich, you are offered a special drink you claim right after. And then--- there's a 24-hr access to TACOS, called Zombie Tacos. Need I say more? I am in love with this brand of Marriott Hotels, it's young and fresh and for the fun-traveller & backpacker. They have a fridge in the room, but no microwave--however, they provide one for the guests in the cute common area by the bar/registration. The whole lobby is like a nice place to hang out, in the back patio there's space to chill and play jenga, several swings, fire pits, etc. Altogehter, if you decide to go, its within walking distance to everywhere in the middle of the university belt---so expect a lot of college kids. The location is pretty much close to dirty 6th, you also have access to self-parking garage (with a daily fee for in and out privilege).

My husband and I went here for a tailgate party. They said there would be drawings for prizes at 10am and all this other stuff. We waited around and then they said it wouldn't be until 3pm. That's a long time. Otherwise, it was a nice place and the lady that brought around shots was pretty cool. We went out back but we didn't go upstairs to the rooms or anything.

Love Moxy in Austin! It's on the UT campus on the "drag" or something like that so if you want to be away from the college kids this is your warning. Jen was a great bartender! Super friendly and fast at making drinks. One of the best hotel bars we've been to!

This review is for Bar Moxy and the hotel as the hotel owns the bar. This was from an experience back from 9/25/22. The female bartender that worked the Saturday night shift at Bar Moxie ruined our night out. She said things like: "I don't have time for your order" and "if you want something sweet go to another bar" . I really hope that this bar takes a hard look at the staff they hire and that they monitor how their bartenders talk to customers. Super hurtful and disappointing.

This may be the craziest worst hotel we've stayed in a long time. You arrived we told initially we couldn't park at the hotel because we didn't reserve a spot first. We were never prompted reserve a parking spot when booking. We finally got a spot but as punishment we've been placed in a room with a bed that looks like it's about 50 years old and sagging across from the lobby door.

I don't think I have ever stayed at a hotel that vibes like Moxy. It was definitely a new and refreshing hotel experience to be checking in at a bar. We arrived on a Thursday night at around 11 pm, the place was lit with a DJ playing dance music and people hanging out. Every guest gets a token for a free drink at the Moxy bar (more free drinks in our room). The best part was to have a 24 hrs Zombie Tacos (great tacos) in the lobby to satisfy our late-night cravings!! Our hot water didn't work on the 1st night. But the staff was very friendly and helpful when we called, they also offered us a token for some Zombie Tacos as a gesture which we really appreciate. Thankfully the water was fixed the next morning. The guest room we were in was quite small, and the housekeeping definitely can do better on cleaning the room. Because of the bar and the nice courtyard area we spent a lot of time hanging out at the hotel during the night time which we thoroughly enjoyed. They have a gym with brand new equipment, great for a quick run/workout while traveling. Moxy is also at a decent location, near a handful of restaurants within walking distance because of the UT Austin Campus. We loved the vibe and will definitely come back if we ever visit Austin again and are super open to staying at other Moxy locations in the future! Hotel parking is $39 per night, but I would recommend parking on the streets nearby (6 pm - 8 am is free).

The Moxy is a whole vibe! I love the aesthetic, the cool decorations, the fun patio and lounge. The beds are comfy. The shower space is weird though because you literally walk out of the shower stall and into the room. It would probably not be a place I'd share a room with someone who I was not comfortable seeing me naked in. They also seem to not do housekeeping in the rooms unless you've checked out. Stayed a couple nights and my bed was never made or my trash taken out. Decent place for a single or couple to go to, but wouldn't come with a family or with friends.

UPDATE: they kicked us out of our room and told us to find somewhere else to stay after I posted this review. This hotel is a joke. We booked through booking.com and paid the $220 charge prior to arriving. When we got here, they tried to charge our debit card an additional $220 and told us that they never received payment. They refused to call booking.com and sort out the miscommunication between the hotel and booking.com. Instead of being professional and customer oriented, they made US sort it out ourselves. We were told to stay at the desk for over an hour. They refused to lift a finger. The rooms are also smaller than a standard restroom in a traditional house. The customer service is literal garbage. I grew up in the hospitality industry and stay at hotels CONSTANTLY. This hotel is one of the worst ones I've ever had the displeasure of staying at. Another note: they charge $50/night for parking in their garage and there is no where else to park.

This Bar is quite the exotic experience, they go above and beyond to make this an ideal club experience during the weekend evenings. Especially Halloween!!! Let's talk about that! They are incredibly creative and know to make a drink. The back area is probably the best in terms of social activities and hanging out with your crew. Now let's get to those bathrooms....PRISTINE. Yes! I love. It normally has a nice aroma throughout the room, and the mirrors have some fantastic lighting. I'm a big sucker for large sinks so this place already does it for me. The toilets are gender neutral, so bring the gang and everyone can bond while taking a whiz.

Such an amazing hotel! This is my 3rd time at this location, 4th at a Moxy overall. Love the vibe and experience. Well up until now. AC is very inconsistent. Something to do with the energy saving. Room lights turn off automatically if the sensor doesn't catch movement. So laying in bed reading a book.. Will be cut short. Sadly there is no mini refrigerator in the rooms. All it would take to make it perfect.

We had a fantastic time at the Moxy for a bachelorette weekend! While staying here, it was probably the first time I have ever actually hung out in a hotel's common/lounge areas- it was so aesthetically pleasing and a fun place to just hang. The drink token upon check-in was a really nice surprise! Very friendly staff & great vibes overall. The rooms are a little small (which you can see from their pictures online), but we were out all day, so it didn't matter. My only con, which the Moxy can't really control, is that there isn't a great location for Uber pickups/drop offs. There is a small pickup/drop off zone on the side of the building, but it was usually full. We had to meet our drivers across the street at the gas station, which wasn't ideal, but could have been worse.

I first need to say this place is all about location. It is literally across the the street from the university and on the main drag for restaurants and bars. If you can which I did just get Uber to hotel and everything is walking distance. Avoided car problems as this is a city with horrible parking problems. I stayed on second floor never had problem with sound from bar like people said. Room had almost black out shades. Now for my problems and My recommendations 1 mattress in room is pillow style 6" mattress on top of hard platform I box spring and it is not a memory foam. Box springs are for mattresses like this or change them out and put memory foam so they work on hard piece of wood. ( ow my back)! 2 storage hooks and no drawers for clothing yes I don't want to hook my underwear! 3 towel hooks are not meant for towels they are for hangers. Need to change them(really minor) This location allows dogs and saw really cute puppy while I was there. I can say if the mattress and pillows where fixed with Marriott standard quality pillows and mattress I would have given 5 stars. Please fire the designer for the rooms he went fir aesthetics instead of comfort.

The vibes are great, the downstairs super hip and social, love the decor and services offered (movie night, good bar, good outdoor area). Upstairs is definitely not up to the same vibe. They were working on it when I was there though. The service is what kept this from being higher rated for me. Overpriced. At Moxy Austin, expect ... - to pay $45/night for parking - to hear a lot of housekeeping, walking, and pet noises from nearby rooms - to feel a lot of humidity in your room after showering, because the shower is open to the room (no fan) - to receive few in-room amenities: no coffee, no lotion, no cotton swabs, etc. After parking and taxes, this place is over $300 a night!

I actually understand the poor reviews, this hotel may not be for everyone because you can definitely hear the bar music from the second floor where we stayed. However, I did not mind it at all and to my surprise, even my children enjoyed the space. So if you're looking for a quiet place to catch some rest, I suggest finding another hotel, but if you're looking to have a fun and have a "different" hotel experience, I think this is a great spot. I had a great night sleep, so the noise didn't bother me personally. Our double Queen room was a bit small, but the space had multiple hooks on the wall for your belongings to have your room still feel tidy. There taco shop near the bar was so good and I appreciated the self-checkout option for snacks and food. I also woke up early to use the gym and loved their new equipment they had. At one point I saw employees cleaning/sanitizing the elevator to keep up with safety concerns for guests and I really appreciated that. I loved the trendy environment and all the employees were kind to us!

The area is dangerous around the hotel. There is no police because they think university police will cover it and they do not and Austen please do not cover the area. Well at the bar after friendly chatting with two gentlemen I realized they were collecting information. Similarly to how they do in Barcelona and then your credit card information as swiped. The hotel was perfect. I don't know if staff is in on any of it I don't think so but who knows. I felt very Barcelona. The hotel was probably the most well run and clean so I have to give my hats off to the general manager. I forget her name unfortunately but she was great. She even helped with the pet fee that I was not aware was so high per night by the way. I will definitely come here and stay again but I would not recommend even walking by if you are alone. I was taking my dog out to use the bathroom and it felt very unsafe. I found out later there's a high attack rate on women. So if you have to stay here I most definitely would but just be aware of the people. Be aware even other people that you meet. The beds are very comfortable which is a rarity in hotels these days.

The hotel vibe is what you come for. It's fun and youthful and great for a girls' trip. The room was incredibly comfortable, both the bed and the temperature. It was extremely clean and the staff was nice. I loved the lobby/common area and the "backyard" was a great place for hanging out. You'll never go hungry with 24/7 Zombie Taco in the lobby. The location was also great right on The Drag with lots of fun shops and bars in walking distance. That's not to say there weren't cons, however. Prepare to pay $39/night for parking in the garage. I'm not mad about it in the sense that it was good, secure parking, but I didn't see anything that alluded to this cost when booking the room. The hotel was minimalist. There were no closets and no in-room coffee maker, though there was free coffee in the mornings if you wanted to venture down to the bar. I don't know if we needed to pay extra or if this is the norm, but we got no housekeeping during our stay. Overall the pros outweighed the cons, just be aware of these caveats and I think you'll enjoy your stay here.

This is such a cool hotel and the staff make it way cooler. They are so attentive and friendly. We had a slight technical delay checking in and they were so apologetic - very professional. My daughter and I stayed here and had the best time. The decor is very cool, the rooms are awesome - very trendy and clean! The best thing is the skeleton in the lobby area - definitely will be staying here again!

I have stayed at various Moxys all around the US, and this one was a little interesting.I called the Marriott to set my reservation for a one night stay. Once we got there and say told me we couldn't park in the parking structure as they have a limited amount of parking, and they require you to pay for a package to park there. When I requested to pay the package they said they no longer had any available spots. This was a bit frustrating as we had to move our car to another parking structure. All parking is paid which was another frustrating part. The ladies at the front were fairly nice, but I didn't feel that they went above and beyond once I told them that Marriott never offered me anything regarding a bundle package for parking. The rooms were very clean, and the atmosphere at the hotel in general is very nice. When checking out there was a room in the front that was very messy with Halloween stuff, but aside from that the location in place was really nice.

Such a fun vibrant upbeat trendy hotel. We came down from Dallas to spend the weekend here for my friends birthday. From the moment we walked in the staff was so friendly and informative. The drinks were great behind the bar. The room though small was very cozy and hip. The bed was very comfortable and the view we had was limited but very nice. One employee that stood out at the Moxy was Demetrious. I meant Demetrious behind the bar. He went above and beyond to point us in the right direction once we are ready to depart the hotel for more adventures. He was very informative and knowledgeable and his customer service was second to none. If you ever come visit the Moxy I suggest you ask for Demetrious for any questions or needed recommendations you may have.

Second time staying here in the last 2 months. 3 stars on this visit due to an unfriendly check in hostess who charged $20 for a 2pm check in and didn't bother to check that I was a lifelong platinum member . When I questioned the $20 check in - she said it was a downtown Austin rule since March 2022 ( news to me ) and lucky we weren't getting charged $60 like the other Marriott hotels. Finally she offered the $10 food and drink chips when I asked about the platinum membership- with no explanation or apology ...very uncomfortable check in experience.... Oh well

What a solid stay, right in the thick of UT Austin! The Moxy has a fun vibe and the staff is awesome. Super friendly always a hello and more than accommodating. The space is fun and funky with lots to do, arcade games inside, table tennis, Jenga, swings, and vibey outdoor courtyard with great seating spaces a late night taco spot and weekend DJ keeping the atmosphere super fun and cool. Happy we stayed! The rooms were also great. The bathroom is more European style with a dedicated WC, separate shower enclosure and the sink open to the room, the layout was actually great. I loved that the curtain fully divided the room on when drawn as we could have full privacy for our family stay. The rooms are really comfortable and the decor was super fitting for Texas!

Had the pleasure of enjoying the Moxy during our stay in Austin, and enjoyed every moment of it. The place is quite hip and modern, with an interactive outdoor area perfect for Kodak moments. The bar in the lobby as well as a 24 hour taco stop made the trip even more enjoyable- this is probably one of the first times we've spent most of our time in the hotel on a trip. One thing to note is that this hotel is located right next to a college, so expect to see a lot of youngings during your stay.

Well, it's a modern, unique place. The interior design was nice. The staff was friendly. I respect their professionalism. I wasn't expecting to live on the 2nd floor though. That means I hear all the club and bars music from the 1st floor. The hotel needs better sound insulation. Don't worry. Even with the earplugs, you can still party along the music till 2 am. So if you intend to party like an animal, this is the right place. But if you want to sleep like regular travelers, do yourself a favor and find another hotel. Also, the place is not very clean. I found hair balls on the pillows and on the bathroom walls.

Outstanding hotel, but even more importantly...what an absolutely superb team! Stayed here before and through the entirety of Winter Storm 2021, and what can I say about this Moxy Crew (Koryn, et al.)? Way to stay flexible, agile, responsive, and just straight up awesome through a series of VERY challenging circumstances (COVID-19 pandemic, Winter Storm 2021 with accompanying City of Austin city-wide loss of water pressure and boil water notice, etc.). Equally awesome would be the Zombie Taco team on the lobby level -- going above and beyond to serve up insane food under the aforementioned ridiculous conditions. I look forward to returning in better times, and enthusiastically recommend this hotel to everyone!

We were greeted with a gift bag of goodies for my birthday and the ladies were so nice they gave me extra chips for the bar And a whole entire present with a hand written 21 birthday card. What gets better than that! The whole atmosphere is super fun it is super millennial heads up but that's because we are down the street from the University! Totally recommend!!! Literally had the best time here I will so be staying here again. A little pricy but that's Austin

I booked the hotel for a weekend visit to Austin. I thought the hotel was great for its value. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel has a very kitsch aesthetic meant to appeal to younger folks that I felt like they were almost too eager to represent hahaha. The hotel definitely has its target demographic (young people) given its location across from UT Austin and checking in at a bar but I would recommend the hotel to people of all ages. The location of the hotel is great and it was nice that the hotel just opened so that the amenities are new. Unfortunately can't comment on the bar scene or restaurant but the hotel lobby and patio area seemed like fun places to hangout. My only complaint was that the gym could have used clean towels. Overall, if I needed a hotel to stay in West Campus, I would recommend this place.

The worst hotel I have ever visited. The shower is right next to the bed. Like the glass tot he shower is 2 feet from the bed. The sink is in the room like I'm in a dorm room. There is no parking for the hotel so you have to pay to park on the street. The staff was rude and looked at us like we were crazy when we asked where to park. There is no closet. The room we reserved was not available. So she moved us to a lesser room. It was the worst experience I've ever had. And the walls were thin and you can hear the street. There is no mini fridge or microwave. I really can't express enough how terrible our stay was. This is way too expensive

A really cool spot to get a drink near campus if you're looking for something a little more sophisticated than a sports bar or pub. Moxy has a great interior and outdoor seating perfect for studying during the day or grabbing a drink with friends at night. They always have some drink deal going on so make sure to ask a hostess when you walk in. Drinks are reasonably priced too. Loads of Flavor is a refreshing cocktail if you don't like the taste of alcohol.

Newer hotel with a cool vibe, hip decor and a nice bar area with a taco stand right there. The staff was very friendly and helpful but our room was noisy-- someone above us apparently was dragging heavy furniture around at 3 a.m. -- and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. We did not sleep well. We thought the tacos were pretty good but not quite up to Austin standards. For such a new hotel in such a forward-looking city, we were surprised and disappointed to find no EV chargers in the tiny parking garage. The location can't be beat -- on the Drag directly across the street from UT.

Rooms are very unique. Mine was similar to a "studio" apartment, if you will. However, I enjoyed my stay here. The service was good & the staff were friendly. One heads up will be parking. Moxy's have a parking garage that you're required to pay for if you wish to park there. If I remember correctly, it was $39 a night. A bit extreme to me, but all the good outweighed the bad! I would stay here again!

Cute hotel and friendly staff but the night club that goes on outside your window until 1-2 Am is not ideal. Loud yelling and screaming and DJ playing all night. This was not explained to us or in their description. I would not suggest this hotel for families or anyone wanting to get actual rest in the hotel they are paying for.

The place is very modern, they have a late night bar and a 24 hour taco store down stairs. They even offer you a free cocktail when you arrive. But if you're not in college or here for the bar, I would not recommend staying at the hotel. The rooms are unbelievably small, I barely had room to even place my suitcase. There's no closet,safe, or mini fridge. The shower is also in the middle of the room not in the restroom like normal. WTF. To put the cherry on top, the walls are literally paper thin. The person upstairs was playing music and i could understand every single thing the song said also my neighbors were having conversations and I could hear every word said. I paid around $600 for 2 nights (granted it's spring break). There's a lot better options for the price.
