Best Restaurants in Dallas’s Park Cities | Eater Dallas

"It’s Tex-Mex for days at this spot. Dive into a plate of smoked brisket sopes in crispy masa boats, ahi tuna taquitos with a solid kick of peppers, and cornmeal-dusted redfish tacos. Fajitas come with multiple options, including Angus flap steak, pork belly, shrimp, Spanish octopus, chicken breast, and portobello mushrooms. And, there are multiple takes on the margarita, including the ever-popular passion fruit and the Pasillo de Humo, which mixes Dallas-based Socorro reposado tequila with Nixta corn liquor. The bar and patio are great for people-watching (or mounted steer head watching), while the cozy brown leather-covered booths make it a decent date night spot." - Courtney E. Smith

The 12 Best Breakfast Spots In Atlanta

"On a balmy Atlanta morning, it’s easy to lose track of time sipping a mimosa beneath the shaded pergolas at Muchacho in Reynoldstown. It might be Tuesday, but this Tex-Mex spot has big weekend energy with one of our favorite patios in the city. For breakfast-specific food (which is served until 3pm), we prefer their Reggie Rocket burrito because it's grilled and holds huge portions of eggs, steak, and potatoes better than their flimsier, just-OK tacos. Yes, we’ve had better breakfast tacos elsewhere, but the vibey patio that sits just off the Beltline really can’t be topped. And where else can you get these views along with eggs and Tex-Mex at 2pm on a Tuesday?" - jacinta howard, juli horsford, nina reeder

"Dallas chef Omar Flores, who earned multiple James Beard Award nods for his now-shuttered restaurant Casa Rubia, is getting into the Tex-Mex game. According to Escape Hatch Dallas, Flores will open Muchacho at the Plaza at Preston Center, taking over the space formerly occupied by Taco Diner. Google
Muchacho has become my favorite Mexican restaurant. Lively bar with excellent drinks. Comfortable patio. Food is delicious. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable concerning the menu and ingredients. Can be extremely busy on weekends and happy hours into dinner. Parking can be a challenge since this is a popular area for shopping and dining. Difficult to access with wheelchairs.

Google
Nice upscale Mexican restaurant with fantastic service. The queso Muchacho with brisket is one of the best cheese dips I’ve had. The combo # Juan is a great way to sample many items because it includes a beef taco, cheese enchilada, chicken taco, guacamole, along with beans and rice.

Google
If you're looking for authentic Tex-Mex in Dallas, Muchacho is a must-visit! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a casual night out or a fun family dinner. The menu is extensive, featuring everything from classic enchiladas to mouth-watering tacos. I highly recommend the fajita , which was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The fresh guacamole is a standout, made right at your table, and pairs perfectly with their crispy tortilla chips. The service was exceptional; our server Jose was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, providing great recommendations. Don't forget to try their signature margaritas – they add the perfect kick to the meal! Overall, Muchacho delivers a fantastic dining experience that captures the essence of Tex-Mex cuisine. I can't wait to go back!

Google
We overall had a great experience at Muchacho’s. We started off with a house margarita, a skinny margarita, and their queso. The house margarita and queso were excellent; however, we were not a huge fan of the skinny margarita (it tasted pretty bland). We then split the combo beef/chicken fajitas, which were fantastic. The fajitas came with great toppings, tortillas, and made for an overall great meal. The service and atmosphere here was also friendly. This has been one of the better Tex Mex places I’ve had in DFW and I am likely to come back.

Google
Just might be the finest Mexican restaurant in all of Dallas. Muchacho is such an amazing space in the prime Preston / NW Hwy corridor. Prompt and attentive service with every detail well executed. I had the Redfish and it is on my return list. Tres leches cake received rave reviews at our table.

Google
We went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening. We had a good time and delicious food at this restaurant. This is a vibrant restaurant. From the minute you enter, you feel that this is clean and well managed. The manager, Randa, was very pleasant, friendly, and professional. She answered all our inquiries with a smile even though it was a very busy time. We will definitely come back. Special thanks to Randa.

Google
Started with guacamole as well as queso to go with the nachos. The dips were amazing. We followed that up with a bunch of sliders which were all good. I found the meals to be a bit spicy, but it went really well with the margarita. Good service!

Went with a big group and ordered the family size fajita, queso, quac and it could not be any better! The service, the food, the atmosphere all was absolutely what we had hoped for!

Yelp
When in Dallas, find a bougie Tex-mex restaurant!! Came here for a friend's 60th birthday party and it was fabulous, just like her!! The restaurant itself is a bit tight but loved the decor and big windows all through the place. Plenty of parking as it's part of a connected space. Our waiter was on point and helped our party of 12 navigate through the menu flawlessly, even the gluten free couple felt comfortable ordering without prejudice!! The complimentary chips and salsa were def handmade and has a kick, so watch out! The margaritas were strong, cold, and perfect. The tamarindo was my go to and the ghost pepper had a slight heat but I could've had 5 of those babies, no problemo!! Queso was straight cheese, eat it fast cuz it'll harden. The hamachi Agua chile was more Asian style in my opinion, but very good. The brisket sopas were the fan favorite!! Ended up ordering a second serving!! Steak/shrimp Fajitas & brisket taquitos were a hit!! The shrimp were massive and loved the fresh tortillas!! They were kind enough to let us bring in our own cake, so we didn't try any dessert, but everything looked lovely!! Will def hit them up again when in town!! There is a Southlake location which is closer that I will also need to check out, plus I read they have a happy hour. Woohooo!!

Yelp
Just as other reviews have stated, their service is incredibly rude and they rush their customers to finish quickly so that they can seat more people. I understand restaurant economics, but it's truly unacceptable to treat your paying customers like they're a burden and rush them out! Additionally, water was spilt on my purse while sitting at the bar and the female bartender with long blonde hair didn't even acknowledge it or provide napkins. She also told me the wrong price for my margarita and refused to honor the price she said. Unless you're Jerry Jones, don't expect to be treated well here. This is a very pretentious establishment that lacks the fundamentals of hospitality. RUDE all around service, hectic atmosphere, and mediocre food - I recommend going somewhere else.

Yelp
We were seated right away and the chips and salsa arrived shortly after. We ordered drinks and then talked to waiter about suggestions. We ordered a chile relleno, fish tacos, and a steak. Service and food were fantastic!

Yelp
Brunch & dinner at Muchacho is soooo good! Alfonso was our server - he was very attentive, nice and provided great recs! I had the chilaquiles with salsa verde and my fiancé had the choripapa tacos. Both were delish! They said next time we should try the brisket hash. We'll be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Muchacho is a cute upscale-casual Tex-Mex restaurant. Or send to be very popular with the locals. It was pretty crowded. I had to wait for a seat at the bar. I saw one review that suggested making a reservation. I agree. They have a pretty nice selection of margaritas. I had the spicy margarita. It was good. There were two obvious vegetarian options: rojo enchilada and cauliflower tacos. The bar tenders were very busy so I didn't want to ask a bunch of questions, but I did ask which of those items was recommended. The couple next to me and bar tender suggested the tacos. The portion was large, and the food was delicious! Next time I'm in Dallas, I'll go back.

Yelp
Soooo good!!! One of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Dallas. I got the tuna taco appetizer and it was delicious!! The service was great too. I would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
We come to Dallas a few times a month and almost always hit up muchacho's. Best chips in town - light, crispy, delicious. Our go to is chicken and steak fajitas. Classy place with a cool vibe and kid friendly.

Yelp
Ambience is fine; understand it's hard to have a truly distinct upscale space in a shopping mall. Service was in line with other restaurants in the area. Chips and salsa somewhat underwhelming. Enjoyed the complexity of the smoked brisket sopas. Tried a couple of different margaritas which were pretty standard and seemed like particularly poor value. Carnitas tacos were good but would struggle with an entire order of them. Steak fajitas were perfectly cooked and tender, tortillas also on point. Decent food, just wish it either had bolder flavors, was more refined, or both. Especially at this price point.

Yelp
First time at Muchacho. Really like the ambience and bar area although not a lot of tables. It seems. Most important tip: make a reservation! Service by Leonardo was very good although we did feel a little rushed at the beginning. They certainly work hard to turn tables quickly because there are always people waiting it seems. Really our only disappointment were the cocktails. The muchacho house margarita and Rio Paloma both were kind of bland and seemed pretty weak. The skinniest Lalo margarita was pretty good though. We started with guacamole, and it was excellent! my wife loved the homemade 1/2 tortilla sized chips. Personally, I thought they were kind of bland. They came with a red salsa and a green salsa. I really did not care for the red salsa, but the green was pretty good. For our entrées, we had the chicken flautas and the La Tampiqunia combination plate. The flautas were excellent and we recommend. The La Tampiqunia came with rice, beans, a dab of guacamole, 2 cheese enchiladas, and some CAB Flap steak. The cheese enchiladas were honestly pretty bland (really needed onions inside the enchiladas) and I didn't care for the ranchero sauce. Their rice and beans are very good and the flap steak was delicious melt in your mouth exceptional! I highly recommend the steak and would probably get that alone on a next visit.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! It isn't easy to get a reservation though, so I have to plan week's in advance to get in, but it is so worth it! The service is always exceptional and the cocktails and food are outstanding! This time we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and I enjoyed the El Tigre cocktail. It was perfection! I started with the pozole verde which was hot and delicious. Then, I had the shrimp tacos which were fantastic. The shrimp were large and well seasoned. The portion was huge with three tacos and after having the pozole, I could only finish one taco and took the other two tacos home for lunch the next day. Still great day two!
google avatar

Yelp
Ahi Tuna Taquitos, Pollo Perfecto, Chile Relleno Absolute perfection. We came for lunch on a Friday on the most beautiful day, and sat out on the patio. The chips are to die for, which such yummy salsas. My dining companion mentioned that these chips will hold up for an entire month even--just pop them in a zip lock bag or Tupperware and they magically stay fresh. The ahi Tuna taquitos were phenomenal and so flavorful I couldn't get enough. The Pollo perfecto truly lives up to its name--so amazingly tender and juicy, with all the flavors soaked in. The Chile relleno was delicious too. Great service, obsessed with this place and so grateful it's within walking distance for me!

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Dallas! Steak fajitas are awesome!! Service was great! Great experience!

Yelp
Let's face it, the true test of a Mexican restaurant lies in its chips and salsa. Muchacho nails it every time! Their homemade tortilla chips were perfectly crispy, and the fresh salsa - both red and tomatillo - were bursting with flavor. A fantastic start to our meal! For lunch, my husband and I opted for the enchiladas. His chili con carne enchiladas were a classic Tex-Mex dream, loaded with flavor and topped with fresh onions. As for me, the chicken mole poblano enchiladas were pure comfort food. It had that rich, chocolatey depth that brought back wonderful memories from childhood. Our daughters shared the beef fajita nachos, which were a hit (minus the need for a little a little cutting as the pieces of steak on each nacho are a tad too big for a bite). The steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. But the cherry on top was our waiter, Jose. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our daughters feel special. They absolutely adored him for including their American Girl dolls in the conversation! Overall, Muchacho is a fantastic spot for delicious Mexican food and friendly service. The ambience of the restaurant is buzzing with conversation and loud, we didn't feel like we had to yell over one another. Muchacho is one of our favorites... We can't wait to go back! Definitely recommend!

Cristina G.

Yelp
Best place on earth. I got the green enchiladas and chili con Carne. And the queso was fabulous. I go here every time I can because they never cease to impress me. I have ordered to go and to stay, and when the quality remains
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
Went with a large group for a work dinner. The service was excellent, and so was the food. The tuna taco appetizer was spectacular. My octopus tacos were excellent as well with tender octopus legs and slaw on top with a tasty sauce. Really good experience.
google avatar

Rodolfo G.

Yelp
I had the Tampiqueña and to tell the truth its the worst I had. The dish is typically prepared using beef tenderloin. Here they use flank-steak, which i believe is not worth the plate. Should have had the chicken perhaps?
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
The place has a cool atmosphere and a really nice patio but it got super loud inside, not sure if it was all of the wood or just the crowd that night. Food is decent and predictable but I've had better. The Como La Flor margarita was a nice sweet margarita if that's your vibe.

Alex A.

Yelp
My waiter was amazing! I wish I could've caught his name. He was super attentive, fast, and kind! I ordered the rojo enchiladas and the refried beans that came with were some of the best I've ever had. The decorations inside were nice as well!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Saturday night and this place was hopping! Stopped by a littler early for our reservation and grabbed a seat at the U-shaped bar which was totally full. The packed bar gave fun, weekend night vibes saying people were glad to be out and about. Service was prompt, consistent, and knowledgeable. Food was not super noteworthy and has a lot of competition with other Mexican restaurants in the area. Service and ambiance (both excellent) would be bigger draws for a return trip over flavors.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Not a bad little place. A corner location with cool interior - I really love horseshoe bars as you see fewer and fewer of them nowadays. Staff were very friendly. The menu is hard to tackle though. The smoked brisket sopes were lights out, a must try starter. For the mains, I struggled. I went with something I thought would be a safe bet, the primary combo. It was pretty par, nothing special. I saw many mixed and matched tacos going out, perhaps next time. 3.5 stars.
google avatar

Nycole R.

Yelp
This is an upscale Mexican restaurant that puts its own twist on the menu. Although the food was good, it was the margaritas that were the star of the show when I visited. My colleagues and I enjoyed a lovely meal with top shelf drinks that the staff was happy to keep coming. I ordered some grilled chicken tacos that were very tasty. The chicken was moist and flavorful without being overpowering. The chips and salsa were also good, although a tinge hot for me (I'm a wimp!) Overall, good restaurant with a decent menu. Worth coming to when you want something just a little nicer than the run of the mill.

Derek P.

Yelp
I always come here during my lunch breaks, the ambiance is amazing, food is phenomenal, staff is so kind and quickly attentive. I've told all my friends and family about this place. The food is plated in a very nice manner, but it's very home cooked tasting! And I say that as someone who is full 100% Mexican. Oh and let me not forget their happy hour drinks! To die for
google avatar

Riley S.

Yelp
First time being here and boy was I impressed!! This was the nicest Mexican restaurant I have ever been in. Has such a lovely quiet ambiance that really makes the restaurant feel inviting and special. Perfect for any type of occasion! Service was great. Our waiter was attentive and funny. After we ate it did take him a while to come back to the table for us to get the check but my friend and I were deep in conversation so that may be why. We didn't mind and he was easy to flag down. Food was GREAT!! I got a skinny Marg that was strong yet tasty. For the price I appreciated that it did not taste watered down. For food I got the la Chilanga enchiladas which I can honestly say is the first time I have ever ordered enchiladas before. It was the perfect amount of food, including rice and beans, which were all delicious. When I come back I will definitely be ordered the exact same thing again!
google avatar

Issac C.

Yelp
This Mexican gem serves mouthwatering dishes and their Lalo Margarita is pure perfection. A must-try! Exceptional staff and a warm, friendly atmosphere make dining here a joy with top-notch service.
google avatar

Sophia J.

Yelp
I've been craving Mexican food for a while so I was super excited to try this place out! We ordered the La Chilanga enchiladas and the combo marinated CAB flap steak and chicken breast fajita and they were both very delicious and flavorful! Personally, the La Chilanga enchiladas was a bit dry to my taste but still delicious and both the meat for the fajita were super tender and tasty!! They also provide with complimentary chips and two types of salsa The only bad experience to the dine-in was that we were given the wrong order and after the food was given, the servers did not stop by for a while nor looked at us while we were calling out to them. However, they provided with the right order in the end and because the food was good, I'd give 4 star instead of anything lower.

Laura H.

Yelp
I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service. Jose was great! We order a Papi Chulo and the Tamarindo and they were delicious and strong. The music is great and food tastes very good. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
This place was good. Your average run of the mill Mexican places but extremely expensive. I was really excited to try the menu but the flavors described didn't come through in the actual dishes. For example, the queso states caramelized onions and jalapeños but couldn't taste either. It was still great! I did love the Ahi Tuna Taquitos. Super refreshing and tasty.
google avatar

Chelsey A.

Yelp
Hands down the best fajitas in DFW, or anywhere actually. Perfectly cooked steak fajitas hit every time we go! But the star of the show is the pork belly carnitas fajitas. Wow so amazing! Service is always top notch and great vibes!
google avatar

Lawrencia L.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and sat on the patio. The food was delicious. I had the beef fajita tacos with rice and beans. I also tried a spicy margarita - which was really good as well. The service was great and I would come here again.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Some of the best fajitas anywhere. Generous portion. Tortillas are great and chicken fajitas are superb. Comes with melted butter to put over the top. Guacamole is very good. Chips and salsa very good. Great vibes. Highly recommend.

Barbara P.

Yelp
The service was rude they told us to leave before we had finished. We had 1.5 hours and they told us to leave. We paid our bill and left a nice tip. Never go again. I needed some time as my husband is very ill.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I was really surprised with this place. They had really good drinks, my favorite was the mezcalarita. We had sopes to start which were perfect and crispy. I had the chilanga enchiladas and my husband got the fajitas combo. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was super helpful with recommendations. I will say make sure to have a reservation since it tends to get packed. Would come back.
google avatar

Rue N.

Yelp
Went on a date to this cool Mexican spot on a Saturday and had a great time. Started with an excellent margarita at the bar, and graduated to dinner at a table in the back. My dining companion is vegetarian so I decided to try a veggie option as well. Great decision because my mushroom fajitas were excellent! Great flavor on them and the add-ons just elevated it. And the garlic butter on the side? Positively criminal, glad I didn't realize there was garlic in it until the end of my meal or I might have eaten it all. Service was friendly, but did feel a bit rushed. We were pretty much told when the next reservation was when we were seated so I was half-watching the clock during the meal. Overall though, really nice restaurant with friendly staff and good food/drinks. I'd definitely return.
google avatar

Ritu M.

Yelp
Previously had a good experience here but last night was an upset. Went for dinner. A server toppled an entire glass of ice water on me. No apology or swift clean up. I sat with my side of the table full of water and ice (not to mention my wet clothes) and they went on to serve appetizers without thinking that there's a plate and silverware immersed in water. It took 20 minutes for them to come back which is when I told them to please clean and provide a plate and new silverware. By the time they got back with my plate and silverware the rest of the table had finished eating appetizers. The least the waitress could have been done was to figure out that it was a bad experience and rectify it but she acted like "it's only water".

Neal P.

Yelp
Second visit to this restaurant. We had a reservation at 4:30pm. Arrived on time and was immediately seated by the host. As we sat down we were informed that we had to finish by 6:00pm as the table was reserved for another patron. Thought that was a little classless. Food was outstanding. Adrian's service was impeccable. Go and enjoy yourself, just ignore the male host at the door. If Muchacho is lucky, he's just a temporary employee.
google avatar

Ivan N.

Yelp
I heard so many good things from my gringo amigos :) and I wanted this to be a gem for fajitas... NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!!! The tortillas were COLD, the FAJAITAS were not even WARM! To me that means they are just sitting there waiting for the rush to come in -------- not fresh .. Just fyi - we tipped my waiter $ 50.00 bucks on a 90.00 bill... It wasn't his fault! my arrival time was 5pm

J. S.

Yelp
Good chips and salsa. That's about it. The migas are scrambled eggs with tortilla chips on top, not cooked in like traditional migas. My wife ordered a beef enchilada with chili con carne but received a cheese enchilada. The manager said they don't offer an enchilada with beef inside. Huh? Waited for a while for simple things like corn tortillas with butter and lemon. Not a good first impression.

Norma A.

Yelp
Service was excellent and ambiance was great but food was a big let down.....ordered The Rojo enchiladas and the sauce was absolutely horrible. Tasted like it came right out of a can!!! Food over all was bland no good flavor at all other than the beans. Even the rice was bad....best thing were the chips.

Hunter K.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Dallas. Fajitas were great and came with garlic butter to drizzle. Also they make tortillas in house. Drinks were also good and the restaurant is very nice inside. Service was excellent as well.

Molly B.

Yelp
I never write reviews, but I just had to after my experience at Muchacho in Dallas. The food was absolutely amazing, but the customer service was a complete letdown. One of the managers, Randa, was incredibly rude--she practically rushed us out of our table, which really took away from the enjoyment of the meal. When I go to a restaurant, I expect to relax and have a good time, not feel pressured to leave. To make matters worse, you could smell the alcohol on her breath from a mile away, which was both unprofessional and uncomfortable. As much as I loved the food, I won't be returning because of how awful the service was. Definitely not coming back.
google avatar

Jane C.

Yelp
Muchacho has a wonderful atmosphere. Both the patio and main dining area exude comfort. The food and margaritas does not disappoint. The menu has a large selection, but our favorite item is the cauliflower tacos! These tacos are so satisfying, you will not miss the meat. Their chips are truly the best in town - they are so thick, crispy, and come with a fresh, perfectly salted salsa. We had the pleasure of sitting near the owner and his wife, they could not have been more sincere in their desire to make the experience of eating at a TexMex restaurant more wonderful!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
A great Tex-Mex find in the Preston/Northwest Highway area. The vibe in this restaurant is lively and it was quite crowded. There is an attractive bar in the center where you can eat and/or drink. The wait staff is very attentive. The food is excellent - traditional Tex-Mex, and everything we tried was delicious. The ranch waters are great, and feel free to substitute your favorite tequila or Mezcal. We will be back!
google avatar

Soham K.

Yelp
Attentive service and very good food. One star minus because we were being rushed out as it was a busy Friday evening. The verde salsa needed more flavor and salt.

Ted W.

Yelp
Excellent service and food every time. Warm thin chips. Red center fajitas. Super nice modern restaurant.
google avatar

Krista C.

Yelp
The restaurant was nice. The server randomly came by while we were still eating our chips and salsa and took two of the peoples plates from which they had been eating off of the table and left my plate. He took those plates over to the cabinet, wiped them off, and put them back in the cabinet! The food was cold and bland. The waiter was not patient, and when my dad asked for him to annunciate a little better, one of the hot sauces, he became exasperated. He just continued to repeat it quickly. Our first language is English and so he did not understand. I just want to reiterate, the food was not good.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Had a cute lunch birthday here. The brisket was really good. We actually ordered two separate brisket dishes and were really impressed. The drinks were great too. We normally eat outside, but the heat was a bit much & the patio fans didn't seem like it would help much, nonetheless we still enjoyed our visit & was seated quickly. We had great service & a birthday serenade

Yelp
The restaurant name is MUCHACHO, I don't understand why it's listed as a capital M and a bunch of lines after it. But non the less, this is an excellent Tex-Mex restaurant that prides itself on its fire grilled meats and their homemade flour tortillas. Their fajitas are a must if it will be your first time, they really set the bar. The service was great, the food is excellent and their prices are competitive. Yes I would definitely recommend Muchacho!

Amy J.

Yelp
First of all, I'm not one to leave reviews, but we had such a fantastic time here. I would give this place 6 stars if I could! We came here tonight for the first time to celebrate Mother's Day, my mom passed away in 2022, and we had such a great experience and I can't wait to go back. Their jalapeño cucumber margarita was literally the best margarita I've ever had. My dad had the whitefish, two of us had the chicken queso enchiladas, my sister had a combo plate, her boyfriend had beef tacos and every single one of them was delicious! My dad won, his whitefish was absolutely phenomenal. Not every Mexican restaurant can pull off a good seafood dish. The atmosphere was amazing, music was amazing, decor was admirable. I can't recommend this place more! Oh, and I can't forget the service! The service was impeccable!
