The Best Filipino Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Though this quiet North Center spot doesn’t serve pork (sorry lechon fans), they have plenty of other dishes to get excited about. Their chicken lumpia and chicken adobo would make the farmbird proud, and the fried quail egg skewers could go toe to toe with other top-level foods on a stick. If you’re planning to show up with a larger party, get the boodle fight. It’s a massive feast where they lay out a bunch of dishes with rice on a bed of banana leaves and requires a reservation." - john ringor

Namit Cafe - Review - North Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"While Namit doesn’t have pork on the menu like most Filipino restaurants in Chicago, this casual North Park spot still has plenty of other dishes that make it a solid breakfast or lunch option. They have tasty made-to-order silog plates, smoky chicken inasal, and street food like BBQ skewers. But if you’re in a hurry, the rice or pancit combo plates with any of the cafeteria-style entrees from the front counter are great. They’re all sitting in steam baths like they’re having a spa day, and we particularly like the tomato-ey caldereta and chicken adobo with quail eggs." - John Ringor

Namit Cafe - Review - Ravenswood - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Despite being a common ingredient in Filipino cuisine, pork is noticeably absent from Namit’s menu. But though this place won’t satisfy your lechon cravings, this quiet Ravenswood spot has plenty of other flavorful dishes. Their lumpia has a fantastic mix of ground chicken, vegetables, and crisp water chestnuts, while their kwek kwek is a strong argument to have fried quail egg skewers at every American county fair. But the must-order is their adobo, which is some of the best in the city. Tender pieces of chicken are cooked in a scientifically calibrated sauce that’s achieved the golden ratio of tart, sweet, salty, and peppery flavors. Though Namit’s bright space full of plant wall art is fairly small, there are enough tables for a few groups—which is ideal since the serving sizes encourage sharing. Make sure to also ask about their kamayan feasts for larger parties (you need to place a reservation ahead of time) where they lay out a bunch of dishes with rice on a bed of banana leaves." - John Ringor

Namit Cafe has a special place in our hearts. The food and flavors were authentically Filipino. The couple running the restaurant (Mark and Nathalie) were very kind to us, a mark of Filipino hospitality. Learnt that they came from Bacolod, which I’ve fond memories of! The sisig was delicious with the crispy tofu on top, was a really good addition. Also really enjoyed the chicken inasal. I loved the fishballs too (reminds me of home - Singapore) Appreciated their kindness with the ube cupcakes which were really really good. It was a really nice atmosphere within the shop as well!

Wouldn't have been able to have such a cute get together if it weren't for Namit and the folks here! Hands down the best inasal in town (sorry I was too hungry forgot to take pictures), and the Kare-Kare was epic (whoever said it's not is either a liar or has aweful taste), and the lumpis was perection... but the SISIG!!! I'd never been into sisig but theirs made me fall in love! And the decoration was sooo cute my friends and I had a mini-pictorial. But if there's anything that can compete with the food or ambiance, it's the staff. Everyone was so sooo sweet and really go out of their way to takw care of you! I can't thank them enough! Staff deserves 1,001 stars ⭐️ I'm recomending them to all my family, friends, and anyone who reads google and yelp reviews.

We loved the cozy ambiance, with nature-styled hanging décor, warm lights, and beautiful wall decorations. The food was amazing — we especially enjoyed the beef nilaga (vegetables are fresh and not overcooked), chicken inasal (well-cooked & tasty inside), chicken sisig (a different way of preparation with tofu), molo soup (tasty dumplings and soup), and beef isaw (soft and not gewy) and their drinks (Calamansi purple, and pandan gulaman). Everything was flavorful and well prepared. We’re already looking forward to coming back to try the halo-halo and the whole ube cake next time!

Namit Cafe is such a special place. I don’t usually eat much Filipino food, but this was hands-down the best I’ve ever had—so authentic and full of flavor. Mark and Natalie are so kind, and Esther made us feel right at home. Their fun dessert menu is also amazing—I loved everything we tried. Support this local business! They’re doing such a great job, and you can tell they truly know what they’re doing. Highly recommend!

My siblings and I went on a filipino food roadtrip around Chicago, and this was one of our favorite spots!! The interior is beautifully decorated with plants & string lights. The food was INCREDIBLE. We started off with lumpia (classic & veggie options), which came perfectly crunchy & fresh out of the fryer (not pictured bc we were too hungry to take photos lol). My personal favorites were the pancit & chicken sisig! The pancit has the perfect ratio of noodles to veggies, and is very flavorful yet still feels light and not greasy at all. The chicken sisig was soooo delicious (idk how they seasoned it but I could eat it for days on end) and came with super crispy tofu pieces mixed in as well. I'm not usually the biggest fan of tofu, but they know how to cook it right with the most flavor & perfect texture. We also ordered bangsilog & vegetarian kare kare (made with sunflower seeds instead of peanut butter, very considerate for those with peanut allergies!!) for my pescetarian sibling, and she loved both dishes! Each dish paired perfectly with their tasty garlic rice. We ordered halo-halo for dessert, which had a perfect amount of toppings like ice cream, leche flan (rich & creamy, made in-house along w/ the ube halaya!), and rice crispies (stayed perfectly crispy even after mixing it into the milk & ice). *Update: I should clarify this was food for 4 ppl total and we boxed up some leftovers 😅 10/10 Filipino hospitality!! Everyone in this family-run restaurant was incredibly kind, attentive, and friendly. Our server very warmly welcomed us to Chicago and made us feel right at home. I was initially worried because we walked in 40 minutes before closing, but we never felt rushed or pressured. In fact, we were encouraged to take our time and order dessert as well. This experience made me wish I could move to Chicago just to come here again and again. Next time, my siblings and I hope to bring our parents too!

Enjoyed a tasty lunch today! Recommend the Lumpia Shanghai (tasty small egg rolls) and Milo Soup (dumpling soup) as appetizers and the Caldereta (beef stew - pictured) and Chicken Sisig (crispy fried tofu + chicken stir fry= must try! - pictured)

Had an amazing time eating here! Great little roomy that was clean and can accommodate different sized parties. The decor was lovely as well! Service was quick and our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Food was fresh, filling- and some entrees are even large enough to share (ask your waiter)! Highly recommend the lumpia, kare kare, and panicit. Do not skip dessert!!! The halo halo and flan were sooooo tasty and we managed to make enough space in our tummies for both. Definitely will be coming back to try their breakfast and other dishes.

Namit Café truly lives up to its name—namit in every way. Their comfort food brought back all the flavors I miss from home in the Philippines. Each dish tasted authentic, warm, and thoughtfully prepared, as if it came straight from a Filipino kitchen filled with love. A special shoutout to Chef Mark and Chef Nathalie. They were incredibly welcoming and genuinely took the time to talk to us while we waited for our food. Their kindness and hospitality made the experience even more memorable. You can really feel the passion they put into their cooking. And I have to say—the ube and yema cupcakes were outstanding. You can see Chef Nathalie’s artistry in every detail. Cute, vibrant, and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Namit Café. Supporting them feels like supporting family, and it warms my heart to uplift our fellow Filipinos. If you’re craving authentic Filipino comfort food made with care, this is the place to go. 💜🇵🇭

Yelp
Namit has great food and feels very homey. The decor is very thoughtful and celebrates Filipino culture. The service is attentive and friendly - I felt at home! The space is really great for events as well. We were there while a birthday party was going on and it was very jovial. The cake looked really yummy, too! I look forward to trying more of their offerings! I'm happy to have another authentic and delicious Filipino restaurant nearby.

Yelp
I was surprised to find out they relocated from Ravenswood to North Park! We tried the Tapsilog, Bangsilog, Kwek Kwek, Arroz Caldo, Lumpia Shanghai, Calamansi-Butterfly Tea, and Buko Pandan Samalamig. I highly recommend the drinks -- they're beautiful and taste just as good as they look. The breakfast plates were solid, and the Arroz Caldo toppings were spot on, especially the chicken! Also, make sure to check out the gorgeous mixed media piece at the entrance -- it was created by one of the owners. This spot is family-owned, and the staff is super friendly. It's located right next to Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club. Note: This restaurant doesn't serve pork.

Yelp
.5 stars mahal. Food was below average. KarenKare tasted as if someone was just either learning to cook it or couldn't be bothered. Service was even worse. Didn't know what they have, items listed on the menu was unavailable. Frozen foods from Seafood City would taste better than their food and it was overpriced. Do not recommend. OVER price!!!

Yelp
Really good food! I loved the lumpia and the butterfly tea "arnold palmer." Not too expensive either. Recommend!
