Yelp
New DimSum Kingdom was a bit underwhelming overall--something I probably should've expected given the name. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and had no trouble getting a table, which was a plus.
We ordered the lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, Singapore rice noodles, steamed pork soup dumplings, and sliced beef with scallion. The sticky rice was decent but a bit bland. The soup dumplings were noticeably larger than usual, which I appreciated, but the wrappers were thicker and doughier than what I'm used to, and the flavor didn't quite deliver. The Singapore noodles and beef dish were solid--nothing standout, but reliable--and it was a nice touch that the beef came with rice included, which many places charge extra for.
Service was on the less attentive side, and overall there wasn't anything that really stood out as memorable. Plenty of seating to accommodate larger groups bu I'd give it 3 stars--mainly because, being in Chinatown, I expected something a bit more authentic. That said, the food is good enough and the portion-to-price ratio is fair, so I can see why others might enjoy it.
