The 38 Best Restaurants in Osaka, Japan | Eater

"Chef Akemi Nakamura and her all-female staff have risen above Osaka’s male-dominated fine dining scene by delivering eye-catching kappo cuisine with gracious attention. Nishitemma Nakamura took home a Michelin star for its seasonal Japanese menu with sprinklings of Western ingredients like cheese and duck, paired with a fine selection of Burgundy wines. Among the food presentations inspired by ikebana, the ancient art of flower arrangement, Nakamura’s standout course is the hassun, a tray filled with small dishes that are bold, balanced, and visually playful. Vibe check: Every detail is impeccably executed, from the elegant hospitality to the choice of pottery. With eight counter seats and two rooms, the vibe is intimate luxury." - La Carmina

"At a traditional Japanese restaurant, Akemi Nakamura discovered the elegance of traditional multi-course meals; at a kappo, she acquired a gift for adapting cuisine to the needs of the moment. She even devoted herself to flower arrangement to better understand the spirit of gracious service. This accumulation of experiences is encapsulated in her appetisers, beautiful presentations that highlight the flavours of each ingredient. Dishes of depth and complexity emerge one by one from the kitchen, garnished with flowers and leaves of the season." - Michelin Inspector

Meet The 18 Female Chefs Who Lead MICHELIN Star Restaurants In Asia

"A kaiseki restaurant opened in 2016 after its chef’s 22 years of apprenticeships, this intimate counter has earned a MICHELIN star every year since 2018. The cooking shows a delicate command of Japanese cuisine with flashes of boldness; a signature Boiled Turnip is hollowed and filled with yuzu miso that is hand-stirred for an hour to a molten texture, making each warm scoop of turnip and miso a joy." - Debbie Yong

Incredibly well defined Japanese dishes from chef that understands the ingredients and how they should taste. We enjoyed every course and hope to come back another season. Menu is updated monthly basis.

Outstanding dinner! A hidden gem in Osaka, amazing food beautifully plated. The menu was thought based on a seasonal event, which made the experience much more interesting. The service was great, the chefs were very attentious to explain the dishes in english by using a translator. We also mentioned we were in Japan for our honeymoon and they even changed the plating of one of their dishes to celebrate the occasion. Only one suggestion is that they could use ChatGPT, Gemini or other similar tool to explain them better (prepare the english explanation beforehand) - for some of them, we used to improve its understanding and it made a lot of difference. Thank you Nishitenma Nakamura team! 👏

Hidden gem in downtown Osaka! I had been looking for a kaiseki experience as part of my trip and booked a dinner here for the Michelin star. I was pleasantly surprised. The chef uses fresh, local ingredients to create dishes that are well balanced and artfully pleasing to the eyes. The hassun (seasonal platter) was meticulously prepared, beautiful, and tasty. The service was impeccable too. The staff took the effort to translate the description of each dish into English so we understood the elements that went into them. We appreciated it so much. Thank you for the memorable dining experience.

Google
A truly special experience. Absolutely beautiful presentations, delicious food, great service, and a lovely environment. The chef personally served some dishes and thanked us for attending at the end of the meal. They even prepared a gluten free version for my partner that was so close to the original we couldnt tell the difference. We left comfortably full and satisfied. Couldn’t recommend enough for a Michelin star meal in Osaka!

Chef Nakamura is absolutely world class. All the details were in place, from the beautiful pottery to the top notch service. Unforgettable kaiseki by a master in an elegant environment. Special stand outs for us were the beef and the hojicha mousse! Thank you for a uniquely exquisite meal.

One of my favorite dining experiences of my entire Japan trip. Elegant, flavorful, complex kaiseki meal with warm, efficient service to boot. Highly recommend the visit — definitely deserving of its Michelin star.

Google
Terrific, elegant food. Thoughtful and attentive staff that made me feel welcome and informed, even as a poorly prepared American. The ambiance is tranquil and warm. Humble ingredients prepared beautifully felt as important as bits of luxurious wagyu and seafood. Thank you for this memory
