"Nomiya is a small noodle bar in Uptown that serves a few types of ramen, along with pork buns and edamame in case you need something extra. This place has minimal seating and the line can get long, but it’s BYO and the ramen’s really good, so it’s worth the wait as long as you don’t have a ghost tour to get to afterward. As a heads up, Nomiya is only open 4pm-10pm and is closed Mondays, so plan accordingly." - Team Infatuation

i’ve been going to this restaurant for years and i’m about to move so i figured that i should finally leave a review! this some of the best ramen i’ve ever had. i’ve had ramen in korea, san diego, and multiple islands within the pacific. i still love, adore, and crave nomiya. i always get the geki karra (1/2 spicy) and it is one of my favorite meals. broth is super flavorful, meat always melts in your mouth, and the rest of the additions make it the most perfect spoonful. the pork buns are also super super delicious. the pickled red onions compliment it so much. staff is always lovely and very attentive. this was the food i craved when i was sitting on my couch recovering from surgery, and this is a new orleans staple for myself.

My partner and I have been pretty much all over Japan for work and we decided to have our anniversary dinner at Nomiya. We decided that we wanted something that felt like home and illuminated a familiar atmosphere as the Japanese ramen-ya’s we’ve spent long nights at in mainland Japan. Our server, Christie, welcomed us with open arms and a friendly/welcoming personality. Incredibly nice and helpful. We were so satisfied with our ramen, appetizers, and Orion beer. Also the pork buns and edamame with that splash of yuzu flavoring was bomb. Thank you! We will be back 💕 It honestly felt like we were back home in Japan and forgot we were in America 🇯🇵

Checking out ramen places is certainly one of my main objectives when I go to a city I've not previously visited, and Nomiya made the list. Situated in a nice neighbourhood with bars and other places nearby, this is one which has pretty decent ramen. 👌 I had a very warm welcome, and the service was excellent, as noted below. Starting, they serve their edamame cooked and then chilled with a citrus feeling light dressing. For me personally, I prefer warm with either soy sauce or seaweed. The buns were good, and the pickles home made, which was great. Some juices from the pickles made the bottom of the well prepared buns a little bit soggy. The ramen - I went for the kuro with black garlic. Broth and garlic were good. The pork was very good and soft. They served with sweetcorn that was chilled and cooled the broth, which was not hot enough then moving forward for me, but this may be a local thing. The chilli oil was not as one would expect, that being slick and oily, and was more of a siracha style but tasty and homemade and great the bottom. Service was great, in fact faultless, to be fair, and this was something that one ought to take into account, though, and there was a good atmosphere overall. This is worth a visit and a good local place. You're supporting the right sort of restaurant. They make everything just about right, but just a touch more care is needed in my view.

Google
I had a great time at Nomiya! I got the pork tonkotsu ramen with seaweed and fish cakes added, and it was delicious! The sweet braised pork was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the broth was rich and delicious. It was the perfect warm meal for a rainy day, and definitely worth the drive though the flash-flooded streets afterwards. The food was brought to us very soon after ordering, and the service was wonderful. We were given free candies for desert! The restaurant was very nicely decorated as well, with murals on the walls and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The bathrooms were ramen themed too, and they were absolutely adorable. I would definitely recommend Nomiya!

Haven't been here in years. First time at the new location; It's much bigger. The food is still scrumptious. Will not wait so long to return. The staff was friendly. The only downside was being set right by the dishwasher entrance. It was so noisy.

Google
Fantastic service and delicious full-flavored ramen! The only thing that could make this establishment even better would be if they had capybaras to pet!

Google
service was okay and beautiful restaurant. the food itself was just okay. my server forgot a drink and charged me for it but i got my money back for it after asking about it. we ordered the veggie and kuro. the broth wasn’t that flavorful, the noodles were okay. lots of toppings and appetizer was good.

Google
I'm in love with this place! Wonderful little ramen shop located in the garden district. The menu is small and manageable like it should be, simple to order and know what you want, with incredible flavors. I had the pork buns and kuro ramen this time around and it was outstanding! Can't wait to go back. Update 1/9, they now have alcohol! Food is still so good 👍

Yelp
This one of my favorite ramen restaurants in the city. They've grown considerably. The space is homey, the food is great and the waitresses are always super nice and welcoming. Menu is small, but still very satisfying and they are spent time perfecting their dishes.

Yelp
I finally paid a visit to Nomiya after years of passing it by on Magazine. I'm a huge Ramen fan and now that the weather is cooling down, it felt like the perfect time to go and see what the ramen was hitting on. It wasn't particularly busy on a Friday around 4:30pm so I was able to grab a table outside. There were a few others seated but service was quick, attentive and helpful. I was surprised how small the menu was but it also helped me to make a quick decision. I ordered the pulled pork bao and the "too spicy" ramen at half spice level with the corn, extra egg and pickled greens for toppings. The pork buns were really good and more filling than I was expecting. The ramen was yummy but was missing something that I couldn't put my finger on. It may have been the broth or maybe I'm just accustomed to other ramen shops. Overall, it was a pleasant experience but not my favorite.

Danilda S.

Yelp
Ramen was amazing, so flavorful. Can't go wrong with the black garlic flavored. I loved the decor and service was friendly and helpful.

Mildred B.

Yelp
Food was pretty good! I had the veggie ramen, was delicious. However the one issue i had was with the service. Waitstaff seemed aloof, inexperienced, and stressed out despite there being around 2-3 parties at the restaurant. We were served other people's food, with the server seeming more than confused and frazzled after that. We sat by the kitchen and a small bowl came flying at us at one point with the cook coming out to collect it. Overall led to a humorous experience but definitely a shocking one.

Fantastic service and delicious full-flavored ramen! The only thing that could make this establishment even better would be if they had capybaras to pet!

Yelp
Yesterday my friend and I were in need of a quick ramen fix. Nomiya always does the trick. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is small and quaint with little paper lanterns hanging over the tables. The ginger tea was so delicious as recommended by the waiter. We both ordered the Geki-Kara. I ordered mine "half" spicy while my friend ordered her spice on the side. I added takana (pickled mustard greens) and naruto (fish cakes). It was so good. The spice was perfect and I'm glad I listened to the waiter who didn't suggest going with the full spice unless you like extra hot food. I ordered my sister some to go and she enjoyed it as well. My only complaint would be that they only sell beer and sake. But this was an easy fix since we went next door to have a drink at the bar.

Kimberly J.

Yelp
This is my first time here since they changed locations and it's definitely an upgrade. With outdoor seating in the front and back, it's great on a beautiful day. The menu is still super simple, 3 pork based ramen options with add ons available, pulled pork buns and edamame. A few drink options and beer/sake. The service is fast and friendly. The ramen noodles are perfect and the broth is nice and rich. I wish they had a few more ramen options and were a bit more helpful with service. I feel like they kind of want you in and out quickly. I also ordered the ginger Iced tea thinking it would be just ginger flavor but they use a super sweet syrup. It would have been nice to know, especially if you're sensitive to sugar. They couldn't substitute it so I just drowned it with ice water. Good place, hope they keep expanding the menu.

Yelp
Nomiya Ramen in New Orleans serves up a memorable fusion of traditional flavors and modern ambiance. The Kuru Ramen is an exceptional dish, boasting succulent Pork Belly, tender Bamboo Shoots, sweet Corn, briny Seaweed, and a perfectly cooked, silky Ramen Egg that effortlessly complements the rich broth. The ambiance is young and hipster, with a clear nod to inclusivity, signaled by a small LGBTQ+ friendly flag at the entrance of the door. A sip of their unique Yuzu Lemonade transports patrons to the streets of Japan; its tangerine tartness and lemony sour undertones are a refreshing departure from the familiar. Service can be hit or miss, with the server sometimes preoccupied, but when present, they're friendly and effective. Whether it's the delectable ramen or the exotic Yuzu Lemonade, this restaurant is a testament to the rich tapestry of flavors that Asian cuisine has to offer. Definitely a must-try for locals and visitors alike!

Justin M.

Yelp
Crazy I didn't even notice I was here before but I'm pretty much same as last time. Their broth is great. Half spicy is definitely spicy enough to get ya sweating. The bun sucked and was dry and lacking flavor. Edamame was different, served cold and had a citrus flavor. It was interesting. I think their broth and noodles for kids is great but too pricey.

Whitney J.

Yelp
Comfort. Friendly. Delicious. My first time trying ramen in New Orleans. Nomiya converted me to a believer in this yummy noodle dish! Appetizer - edamame - so good! They had a yummy flavor/spice to them and did not need soy sauce Meal - I ordered the half spicy ramen with seaweed. So delicious! Perfect spice level for me! Will definitely be back! Check Nomiya out for a comforting, delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere!

Zabrina R.

Yelp
They updated their decor - pretty lighting, bar seating, booth seating, and vibrant murals throughout make it seem like you're really at a noodle bar in Japan. Although it's been a couple years since I've been here I honestly can't say I remember it being *this* good. I tend to go for the classic tonkotsu and thought that their pork was tender, noodles tender, and broth absolutely rich. 10/10 favorite ramen spot in Nola. We came on a cold night on a Wednesday and did not expect the 30+ minute waitlist. You check in inside and they'll text you when you're up next. Thankfully this is at a prime spot on Magazine so plenty of places to walk around while you wait (like the gelato spot around the corner).

Megan B.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 4 out of 5 stars. The reason it's not a perfect score is due to the cleanliness not quite meeting my standards, although the restaurant was generally clean. It also felt a bit unorganized. However, I can overlook these aspects because the food was truly delicious. We began with the pork buns, which were exceptional! The softness of the bun paired so well with the pork and pickled red onions, and I believe there was cucumber in there too. Absolutely delicious, even without the mayonnaise. As for the ramen, my partner opted for the spicy version, which he found not spicy enough but still loved. My child and I went for the regular pork ramen, which was both satisfying and flavorful, especially with the ginger touch. We ended our meal with mochi. The interior is very charming, and we definitely plan to return.

Kristen K.

Yelp
Small ramen shop with few menu options. Three pork based noodle soups are available, along with option to customize with additional toppings, and two appetizers (bao buns, edamame) round out basically the entire menu. For non-pork eaters, a veggie ramen option is available if you ask. Waiter did state that if you want an egg that is also marinated in some sort of pork product. Veggie ramen was $14, toppings were served on the side. Overall was fine, definitely a bit salty. Tap water tasted a little off which made it harder to deal with the salty broth.

Ellery D.

Yelp
I'm honestly not sure how I went so long without trying this place, especially since it's so close to home and has such an inviting atmosphere--which is even visible from the street. I love the lanterns and the decor inside. It truly feels like you're eating in a cozy ramen shop in the heart of Tokyo. I guess I avoided it because I had looked at a menu and didn't see a vegetarian ramen option. But I asked the server and, lo and behold, they have one with a mushroom base! It's just not on the menu. This would be my one and only complaint; please add it so that we veggie eaters won't be scared off thinking there's nothing here for us. I was getting over a long spell of covid and pneumonia when I visited, and it was *just* the thing I needed. Hot and steaming and so full of delightful umami flavor. Loved the toppings too, especially the pickled ginger. The noodles were the perfect degree of done-ness--tender but al dente. On cold nights, I still think about that ramen, and plan to visit again soon.

Rachel D.

Yelp
Always a great time here. Service is good and the new restaurant space is very nice. Best ramen I've had in the city by far. I like to get the half spicy geki-Kara with a side of garlic oil. The pork buns are also super good.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Great ramen spot where Del Fuego used to be. Their Pork Tonkotsu ramen is so good! I added a bit of chili oil and it really adds to the flavor. The pulled pork buns were okay, the meat was tender and lots of it but I would prefer a crispy filling. The beer was good! Servers were really attentive and it's super chill inside. Tip: if you're going on a Sunday get there at 6 or before because if not there will be a wait!

Victoria P.

Yelp
Simply the best ramen in the city. Menu is very small but the ramen is absolute perfection. I get the "Too spicy" every single time with the yuzu lemonade. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life

Mariah O.

Yelp
We both got the spicy ramen, and we ordered it half spice with extra chili on the side. As ordered, it didn't taste spicy at all, so we ended up adding a lot of chili to it. The broth was a thicker than usual creamy broth. The ambiance is really the reason for the 3 star rating. It seemed to need some more cleaning in the restaurant.

Benjamin W.

Yelp
The decor is cute but honestly it's the friendly staff that made me love this place. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. Cannot recommend enough!

Ryan N.

Yelp
The ramen over here was really good! I tried the Kuro ramen ($18.00), whereas my friends tried the Pork Tonkotsu ramen ($17.00) and the Geri-Kara "Too Spicy" ramen ($17.00). For the Kuro ramen, the broth had a very black garlicky taste to it, which is a great thing since that is how it's supposed to taste as said in the menu. My friends said that the Pork Tonkotsu ramen was good too and that the Geri-Kara ramen definitely lived up to its' name since it was very spicy to the point my friends had a bit of a hard time handling the spice! If you're a person who loves spicy foods, then the Geri-Kara "Too Spicy" ramen is definitely for you! For drinks, I got the Yuzu Lemonade ($4.50)... it was so good! It reminded me of a satsuma type of flavor, very enjoyable. The price is a bit expensive, but I'm not really surprised since it's located on Magazine Street where most places will be pricy. One advice that I would give to Nomiya is that they should make their ramen bigger because it seemed pretty small for a bowl that's almost $20.00. I honestly finished it quickly and wasn't as full as I'd thought I be from a bowl of ramen. As for the service, they were sufficient and good to my friends and I. The decor was really Japanese street inspired, which was very trendy and aesthetic! I wish I had taken photos of the place, but I guess everyone can see it from other photos too. Aside from the sizing issue, Nomiya is a good ramen spot to come to from time to time if you have enough in the budget.

Daniel S.

Yelp
I love this place! The vibe is cool, sorta feels like you're in NYC! Service is good. Young people with good attitudes. The food is perfect. You come for ramen and that's what you get. It's not too precious there are 3 ramen choices ! Come in eat good and leave! It is BYOB so BYOB! They should put that somewhere I always forget!

Kelly A.

Yelp
Yum! Cute spot on Magazine with very flavorful ramen. We sat outside on a nice evening. The ramen had delicious springy noodles with really flavorful broth and tons of veggies with tender brisket. There was so much broth that I ate all of the noodles and got a to-go order of noodles to take home and add to my leftover broth. The only drawback is that they don't have a liquor license so, no drinks are available. However, you can always bring your own liquor and also, you can walk to the bar literally next door and get super cheap drinks to bring over...the lack of liquor is not a huge problem. It was a great experience and I'll definitely be back!

Rosary S.

Yelp
Food was great make sure to get the ginger tea, service was amazing we adored Leslie he was so sweet! Will definitely be back.

Taylor C.

Yelp
My boyfriend always crave ramen and I've always been reluctant having never tried it. He's raved multiple times about Nomiya so I finally caved and agreed to try it. It definitely did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly and checked in often, making sure we were never without water (spicy food calls for plenty of water). The entire vibe is super cute both inside and out. If it wasn't so hot we'd have sat outside on the patio, but I'm glad we sat inside for my first visit.

Cierra L.

Yelp
Listen, this place has been on my to go list for a while now, since they were at their last location. I love that the atmosphere is very intimate. Our server, I'm sad I didn't get his name, was so nice and helpful. I hade the Kuro - the broth, amazing. I added the chili oil for the perfect spice. I also tried the pulled pork buns - they weren't really my favorite but the pickled red onions stole the show. For a drink I had the ginger ice tea - also amazing. Safe to say this will be my new go to ramen spot in NOLA.

Tyler S.

Yelp
Very authentic, amazing flavor, we were served immediately and the food was fast! Great place to eat. 10/10 will be back

Don G.

Yelp
Good. Skip the ETOH options. Sake a no go Beer ok. Good but $17 a bit $$ for what it is. Such is post-COVID life.

Kate J.

Yelp
Yummy tonkotsu ramen and cozy atmosphere, friendly service too! Will be back. Lovely little spot

Holly B.

Yelp
Popped in here for a beer and a bowl of ramen. Service was great, our waiter was very knowledgeable. We ordered the KURO...because it was our 1st time, we didn't add anything to it. Broth was amazing, the braised pork was super tender and perfectly seasoned. ANYTHING with an egg has my heart. Would 10/10 come here again!!

Allana L.

Yelp
omg I've been wanting to try this ramen for sooo long!!!!!! I didn't even take pictures I was so excited. I got the Geki-Kara (1/2) spicy. Y'all my mouth almost burned off LOLLLLL but it was definitely full of flavor!!!!! And the lemonade was pressure! No wait time and they had good music! 9/10 since I almost choked to death from both heats hitting me at once

Mari D.

Yelp
Do not miss this spot on Magazine street!!! The menu options may seem simple but I promise they are incredible. Our server made excellent recommendations. We started off with the pork buns. So soft and juicy! The pickles accompanied the meat well. For the ramen we went with the tonkatsu but our server was so nice to provide us the sauce they use on their geki-kara ramen. I liked it but it was quite spicy! A little does go a long way. I'm glad I went with the tonkatsu. Every aspect of this dish was excellent. The tonkatsu broth was deep, rich and flavorful. Everything you need in a comforting ramen broth. The chashu was tender and the beni shoga (red ginger) complimented the rich and fatty pork. My favorite part though? The kamaboko (the pink fish cake, also known as Naruto)! I was so excited to see it offered since it was my first time seeing it in New Orleans. I'm sure there are other places that serve it. My only other comment is that the ginger iced tea is extremely sweet. I was kind of hoping for a stronger ginger flavor but that's just my preference. If you enjoy sweet tea then I do recommend it! I will definitely be back when I am home sick. This place reminds me of a comforting meal from home. The service definitely attributes to this as well :)

Maddie M.

Yelp
Had always heard good things about this place. I don't even like ramen that much so I thought there was no way it could live up to the hype- IT DOES. The broth is rich and flavorful, it was just the right amount of spice, and the meat was very tender. I got takeout so can't comment on service. Delicious food though

Courtney K.

Yelp
Back again at the new location and it's still fantastic! Tried the pork buns this time which were a great value and packed with flavor. We were going to order the edamame, but the server tipped us off that it is served cold. We both got the Geki Kara, half spice, which as noted is quite spicy. I added an extra egg, which is silky smooth. The flavors are incredible. The service is nice, and they made sure we always had plenty of water. Great space with the front and rear patios, cute waving cats at the entrance. No booze but you can get whatever you want at Brothers 3 next door!

Angelle N.

Yelp
One of the best ramen spots New Orleans has to offer. What this place lacks in size, it makes up for in taste. I recently went here with a coworker for lunch. We started with the pork buns which were very tasty. I got the Kuro for my main dish. It's ramen with sweet braised pork, corn, garlic oil, leeks and pickled ginger. This was simply delicious, very filling as well. The ginger iced tea was refreshing. Small place so don't come with a large party. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out fast. Located on Magazine Street so be prepared to pay for parking or park on a off street. Highly recommend, will definitely be back.

Kelley P.

Yelp
My FAVORITE Ramen spot !!! Service is always great, ramen is delicious! I usually order the pulled pork buns to start with, this item is a must. Pork is tender & has so much flavor. For ramen, I order the Geki-Kara "Too Spicy," this ramen is spicy as mentioned, so get it at a medium level & if you want more spicy, you can get some more on the side. I added the fish cakes, seaweed, pickled onions, and an extra egg to my ramen. The ramen is rich in flavor. Love it! You'll spend between 20-30$.

T Y.

Yelp
I've had Yakamein that was more flavorful. I love Ramen and this was just bland. Nice atmosphere though.

Mary Ann O.

Yelp
The coldest of days in New Orleans and the most satisfying bowl of Ramen. The vibe was a relaxed yet vibrant mix. The menu basic 3 choices of ramen with a wide variety of add ins. I got the #1 pork and no add ins. Service was pleasant and we were not rushed as we enjoyed catching up. The best ramen I have had in New Orleans

Kirsten B.

Yelp
I love Nomiya with my whole heart. There is no place in New Orleans and even BATON ROUGE that tops Nomiya!!! Trust me, I've tried every ramen place you can think of. The staff is great, the menu is simple and satisfying, and their new location is fantastic! I'm so happy for them as a business. Only thing I will say is that when they changed locations, the bowls became smaller and the price became more expensive, which I get. If you like ramen, you MUST go here!

Cheron P.

Yelp
Such a cute vibe and aesthetic. The ramen was amazing. I had the Too Hot " Ramen with the chili sauce on the side so I could adjust the temperature. Great service and attention, order was placed basically as soon as we set down. Food came out quickly. 10/10 would definitely recommend and will be back!

Dustin L.

Yelp
Great experience here. We all got the Pork Tonkotso and the flavor was fantastic. The broth was flavorful with a smooth and slightly creamy texture. The pork was delicious, the marinated soft boiled eggs were done well. We had the pork buns with pickled red onion for appetizers, and they were really good as well (unfortunately we ate them before I thought to take a picture of them). The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant has a nice casual feel to it. Really no complaints and would absolutely come back here again. Next time, I plan to try the Geki-Kara half spice and Kuro broths.

Diego M.

Yelp
A very quaint and simple place that does not pretend to be anything it is not. The menu is small and all of it is great. There's not much customization that you can do, as the menu is static, but if all you want is some solid ramen, go here. It is a small restaurant, and is kinda cramped so expect to sit next to some strangers. We ordered pork buns to start off and we got 2. They were very tender and not much more can be written about them. They were very good and so were the onions they gave us with them. If anything, I would hope for more things to be added to the bun as it is solely the pork with some cucumber that is in it. They were also cheap on the drinks and had no refills. The ramen was very good, its been a while since I've had a good Tonkotsu but this place has it down. They are a little cheap in that you have to pay for bamboo and other things but the basic version of it is still very good. HOWEVER, if you do not like ginger, make sure you specify it. There is loose ginger in the soup and I was always worried that I would get some in each bite as I am not a fan. Just be aware if you don't like ginger as much to order it not in your soup. We had the mochi for desert and it was like the rest of the restaurant, very good but not remarkable enough for a detour. It is however a very delicious stop, just don't expect anything crazy or cool on the menu.

Allison R.

Yelp
Great place to have a quick lunch! Got the Pork Tonkotsu and it was delicious. Also loved my Lychee lemonade. Only complaint is I wish I would've added more extras to my soup! Will be back.

Mathew C.

Yelp
Didn't even make it to the table, atmosphere and imagery of the place was just not right for a good ramen shop and and soon as we walked in there there was a musty stench that punched me right in the face just walked right out and it's a shame because I was excited to the try this place but no way I was eating there I couldn't believe people were sitting down in there.

Tori M.

Yelp
Best ramen in New Orleans. The atmosphere is amazing and so is the food. The service is fast and after trying all the ramen places in this city, Nomiya still comes out on top. I crave their ramen all the time but there is no ramen like Nomiya!!

Elena B.

Yelp
This was so bad! Ever since the location change I've tried to give it a few tries even though each time it somehow is worse! The ambience is super cool and the servers are always nice! Just work on the food and with the combo of the cool ambiance and good staff it would be 5 stars! Defintely not authentic and there are better options around the city!

Daphne A.

Yelp
Best ramen in the city--so very good. Street parking and few spots to eat; you can almost walk right past. But it is just delicious.

Jeff N.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check it out this place for awhile; I finally got to. It was worth the wait. I really found a great ramen spot in the south worth driving to. I tried to Tonkotsu, the broth is full of flavor and pork is so tender. Luckily we came at a great time, it started to get busy quick.

Jamiah J.

Yelp
Very Flavorful, Awesome Service. Cute little place, located on Magazine St. I love how the broth is always hot and fresh , you can adjust the chili oil to your liking.

Lacey D.

Yelp
Nomiya has good, solid ramen. Nothing fancy but very good versions of the traditionals. The service was good as well.
