Wow, what a great place. We did not have a reservation and we were seated right away. The place was cool and had a great atmosphere. The food was fabulous. Our waiter, Brandon, was great as well. He made suggestions for us, helped us with our drinks and our food selections. Ladies had the Martini specials and we had white wine and an old fashion. We ordered the Carbonara, Ravioli Zucca (butternut squash) and the Bolognese with sides of Cavolfiore (fried cauliflower) and Potato Gnocchi. Everything was so delicious. No leftovers for us. Great portions and again, a fantastic place to eat. Go see them.

We tried this place while in town one evening. We were greeted right away and seated. Our server Jesus came by and got our drink orders. Then Jesus got our food order, we tried the Pesto Pizza which was cooked to perfection and the crust was very tasty. The toppings meshed to make a very tasty and delicious pizza. The Expresso Martini was very good and tasted like they used real expresso. We found the restaurant very clean and everyone worked as a team to make sure you had everything you needed. We will be returning again very soon. We tried this place for lunch and ordered the Pork Shank and Branzino both were very delicious.

As a first time visitor I was sorely impressed with Nonna! A beautiful historic building, beautiful restored and updated. Service was polite and efficient throughout the evening. This was evident throught the evening for myself and other customers. Plating and presentation of the dishes matched the quality of their preparation. It was a delicious meal that will bring me back the next time I'm in San Antonio.

Google
Atmosphere and our server were amazing, the appetizer and desert were outstanding. Entrées were hit or miss. One of ours had delicious flavor that was sweet and savory all in one bite. The other fell a bit short and was under seasoned and missed the par when compared to the appetizer with the sams protein. Our waiter was outstanding with recommendations and service and made our visit outstanding. Even when explaining the short fall of our dish he offered solutions and even told the chef (with an open kitchen view we could see the explanation which was nice) what had been missing and the comments and praises that we had. We will for sure visit again on our next trip into San Antonio

I wish I can give you guys 5 stars, but the way that you server was yesterday didn't allow me. First: I am a pasta lover, and ask her about the Carbonara pasta, before order. My carbonara was fishy taste... I can't eat at all... the restaurant smells fishy when probably you are making some kind of dish with fish, but is not a reason. I didn't eat any of the pasta, I left my plate kinda intact. Still I paid the total amount of the bill, plus a tip. Second. She ask what was the problem with the past, a d i explain to her. Well... I guess first-time ( tourist)guess is not your priority. The burrata was spectacular! Same with the bolgnesse.

Me and my friend went yesterday for lunch and it took 50 mins to get our food after we got our water. The food was a solid 3/5, very oily and not much complexity or flavor. The calamari was better than the main dishes. Kind of a waste of money honestly and my friend missed a conference session because of how long it took to get our food. It also took a long time just to get two scoops of the sorbet too at the end. The resturant was very empty but it seemed like they only had two servers and one cook? I wouldn't recommend this place. Can skip it.

Google
I tried Nonna Osteria for the first time and had a really great experience. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service stood out as some of the best I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the fettuccine, which was cooked perfectly and full of rich flavor. I also got to try the pasta from the cheese wheel, which was creamy, delicious, and really fun to see prepared at the table. Everything I tasted was excellent. It is a little on the pricey side, but the quality of the food and service made it well worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Google
Nonna Osteria in San Antonio offers a warm and authentic Italian dining experience that balances tradition with refined execution. From the start, the Insalata Verde and Caprese set the tone of the meal with bright, fresh flavors and high-quality ingredients. The Caprese, in particular, highlighted the simplicity and richness of well-prepared classics, making it a standout starter. For the mains, the Branzino and Filetto were both outstanding. The Branzino was perfectly cooked, with delicate flavors that showcased the freshness of the fish. The Filetto was equally impressive, tender, flavorful, and prepared with attention to detail that elevated the dish. These entrées truly demonstrated the restaurant’s strength in delivering high-quality, thoughtfully prepared cuisine. The Capricciosa Pizza, however, fell short compared to the rest of the meal. While the toppings were enjoyable, the crust left room for improvement, lacking the crispness and balance expected from an otherwise polished menu. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance struck the right balance between cozy and upscale, making it an inviting spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Overall, Nonna Osteria delivers a memorable Italian dining experience, with only minor refinements needed to make every dish shine.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Nonna this weekend! We started with the calamari, which was served with a trio of sauces - the pesto aioli was my favorite! For entrees, we tried the shrimp rigatoni vodka (I forget the menu name for it) which was outstanding. The shrimp were plump and delicious and the vodka sauce had such a bright flavor to it. We also had the bolognese, which was the perfect classic comfort pasta. Wonderful atmosphere, stellar service, and flawless food - definitely check out Nonna if you haven't yet!

Yelp
I came in for lunch and there was no host so I walked into the restaurant and the server told me I had to go to the host stand and I mentioned there was no one there. They said they're helping someone and will be right back. I waited for a couple minutes and then someone asked if I had been helped and told me to sit anywhere, thank you for the extra steps. They served bread with pasta, Italians don't do that, and their version was large croutons. They then served a caprese and warned precisely no one that they were going to fry the cheese, the tomatoes and pesto were good. The olive tapenade they served with the 'bread' was REALLY good, just didn't have anywhere to put it. The butternut squash ravioli was good, I'd put it in the higher end of American Italian, which means they did it mostly right, but put too much sauce an completely overwhelmed the beauty of the ravioli, which were really good. Overall 2/5 because when I crave Italian, I won't be coming here.

Yelp
First night in San Antonio, went to Nonna's and we were impressed. Very nice place for a special occasion. Not over-crowded or loud and the staff is very helpful and attentive. Staff is very good at pairing their extensive Italian wne list with their entrees. To start their olive tapenade with focaccia bread is excellent. My wife got the Pasta e Tartufo which was prepared at the table in a Parmigiana wheel with grated truffle which is worth the experience and the pasta was delightful. I got the Bolognese which was excellent. We finished the meal with an affogato which was a perfect ending to the event!

Yelp
Great service, great ambiance, good food! We ordered pasta & pizza with a red wine & honestly the cheese pizza was probably the highlight. Located near the river walk great spot if you're craving Italian!

Yelp
Quiet place with amazing house-made pasta. A quick walk down from the Grand Hyatt. Service was quick too!

Yelp
Amazing rooftop bar with view and delicious homemade fettuccine with crab tossed in cheese wheel. Bartender Colton and waiter Sam were very friendly and made it memorable.

Yelp
Nonna was absolutely delicious! my boyfriend and i went on a lovely date night here on a Friday night. It's so small, warm and cute in the restaurant. It's very cozy and the atmosphere is so peaceful. We had the bolognese pasta, with the parmesan asparagus. Absolutely delicious! The portion was huge, we shared it. And the garlic bread is to die for! I recommend yall! Also, the servers are top tier!

Yelp
My husband and I came for the restaurant week lunch menu. We were initially disappointed to hear that the soup and vanilla gelato would not be ready in time for us. However, we were able to get the tomato basil bisque as a substitute and it was delicious. Also, the food did take quite a while, but that worked out in our favor too because the gelato had set by the time we were ready for dessert. We also had the Akaushi meatballs and the bolognese. Meatballs were overcooked and the bolognese was a little bland. Our server recommended a delicious Pino Bianco and the complimentary bread and tapenade were amazing. The ambiance was also wonderful for lunch on a bright sunny day. Overall, despite a few hiccups, we enjoyed a beautiful meal.

Yelp
First time going to Nonna & was delicious. Nice atmosphere, the staff was pleasant. The food came out promptly & was amazing. The pesto sauce on the Caprese was excellent. Pasta was cooed perfectly & was a great portion.

Yelp
First day in San Antonio we came to Nonna .... My family loves Italian food so we had to try this place out I made reservations weeks ago but it was not busy at all that evening. It's recommended though The food was amazing. The two pizzas we got were delicious. The arancini was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The meatballs were a hit by the kids ..the pappardelle pasta I ordered was mouthwatering good. The bread cubes they served us with shaved Parmesan and olive tapenade was addicting. Overall a great place to have lunch or dinner when in San Antonio. The ambiance is great so is the customer service. I highly recommend it. Easily walkable down the Riverwalk.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at Nonna Osteria Italian Restaurant! Although I didn't catch her name, our server with blonde hair was exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and really made our meal feel special. The filet was cooked to perfection--juicy and tender, just how I like it. The margarita pizza had a perfectly thin crust, just the way I love it, and the olive spread served with the bread was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Highly recommend Nonna for a great dining experience!

Yelp
Needed to grab a bite during the late evening and found myself discovering Nonna Osteria was open until 10pm which was perfect since I had an hour until they closed. The main entrance of the restaurant is within the hotel at this hour. As you bypass their wine collection, you'll see an open kitchen with a full glass wall overlooking the plaza and Hemisfair. Once seated you'll be served olive tapenade with bread diced into cubes. Perfect nosh before you begin ordering from the menu. Ask your server for a wine recommendation and give them your preferred nodes and they'll help you find the perfect glass. I opted for the burrata as my appetizer and it was a baked dish served warm. Paired with a few pieces of buttered bread this dish was oozing with flavor and taste. I also had it packaged to go and it still tasted just as great at the hotel. My pasta dish for the evening was their bolognese and it was served classic. This was so good and the noodles were done perfectly. I would highly recommend this dish. A bit more on the pricier end but when you're in need of a meal at this hour I will gladly have Nonna any day (or night).

Yelp
We love Nonna Osteria! Food is always consistent. Nice wine selection and excellent wait staff. The Gnocchi with parm is my absolute favorite appetizer. The tuna tartare appetizer is huge. Highly recommend when you have a hankering for a nice simple Italian inspired lunch or dinner.

Yelp
We were in town for lunch and my daughter and her husband wanted to give this place a try. We arrived early and we were the first table of the day. Our server was Jose and he was great. My daughter order a very expensive pasta and it was prepared table side and loved it. She made it disappear and said it was worth every penny. I ordered the spicy pizza and it was also great. If you are looking for a very nice lunch or dinner and don't mind that it is a little pricey this is a great place to come.

Yelp
My mother-in-law and I came here for lunch when we were in town for a conference and it was a wonderful meal. Service was great - attentive and quick. I ordered the Pappardelle Al Cinghiale: the meat was flavorful and the pasta had the perfect texture. I remember wishing that the pappardelle had been soaked in that sauce rather than served on top just for the extra flavor absorption, but it was still very good. My mother-in-law ordered the gnocchi, which were delightfully fluffy. Portions were very generous, which I always appreciate. We enjoyed it and would return to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
I felt Like I was back home in the Rocky Mountains of Italy and conversing with my friends michaliangelo and Donatello and we were sharing an amazing meal and convo about life. Great vibe

Yelp
Nona gets a five-star review from me! I went during lunch and had the lobster cheese wheel, calamari, and a glass of wine. The service was excellent, and the restaurant had a great vibe. It was very clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. They also bring out a little tree with various fruits so you can customize your water--it was a nice touch.
google avatar

Yelp
Husband's birthday dinner. Lovely waitress! Absolutely hilarious and fabulous at her job! Wish I could remember her name to give her a personalized mention. Lovely menu, and while the food was delicious, the portions weren't as filling as we would have liked for the price tag. But that's a fancy place trade off. That desserts and cocktails were the best parts. The entrées were delicious, don't get me wrong! But the desserts and the cocktails were just extra delicious! A beautiful place. Just don't go too early unless you like it almost weirdly quiet while eating. We felt like we had to speak softly since we were the only guests there for a while.
google avatar

Yelp
Jeremy and his team provided excellent service. I was hot and tired when I entered but quickly became cool and comfortable in this environment. I came for the truffle wheel pasta but ended up getting 'staff favorites': The best caprese ever - made with fried mozzarella on a perfect bed of balsamic and pesto, with shreds and whole leaves of basil, with perfectly flavorful heirloom tomatoes! My Cod was ok. I didn't care for the nut butter or vegetables but it sufficed to satisfy. Prosecco was a perfect compliment to the meal and ending with ice cream was nice. The bathroom visit provided me with historic details of hotel that holds this restaurant. I love that they preserved it and literraly rolled it to its current location. Thanks again to Jeremy. God bless! +JMJ+

Yelp
If you come here, you have to try the tartufo pasta. Bring a friend, bring a couple. It's expensive, but it is absolutely worth it. This is the reason why we came here when visiting San Antonio for the eclipse and I still think about it. The pasta I ordered was good as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I'll rate it according to the three prompts Yelp is giving me. Ambiance. Great. Beautiful hotel setting. Romantic. Wonderful. Service. I guess adequate. Perhaps server was having a rough day. But she was literally about as unexcited to be waiting on a table as I've seen in a long time. Food. Average. And for the price below average. Salad was lettuce. Lobster ravioli was something to eat. Bread provided was sort of tasteless. The chocolate custard dessert was well presented but tasted like normal pudding. The highlight (other than the beautiful setting) was Rachel, the bartender. She LOVES her job and gave us a tour and was overflowing with joy about history and this hotel. Owners--do what you need to do to keep her. She's great. The rooftop bar is awesome. Next time I'm in SA, I will definitely be back for a drink to see the sunset and skyline.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my birthday with some great people. We made a reservation so seating was quick. The food was wonderful. I had the sea bass and it was nice and meaty. I also had some fried cauliflower. It was pretty good. My friend had another type of wish that was too salty, so it was sent back and they quickly rectified it. Overall it was pretty good
google avatar

Yelp
Italian cuisine specialty. As you walk in to your right is a hostess standing behind the podium ready to get you situated. You walk through a wall to wall see through glass displaying an array of wines. We were then seated. Friendly attentive waitress took our drink order. I order a dish that had wild boar meat well seasoned and pasta. So delicious. We were delighted with our choice entrees. What ever you choose. You will not be disappointed. Cocktail drinks well balanced flavor. Moscato was aromatic and just the perfect sweetness. Ambience had a fine dining look and romantic feel. Lighting was picture perfect. Service was knowledgeable on the entrees. Wish I could remember her name. I believe her name began with the letter "M".
google avatar

Julia P.

Yelp
A nice little Italian restaurant in the outskirts of the busier riverwalk area. The menu was a bit limited, but we enjoyed our entrees and saw other dishes come out that looked delicious. Service was impeccable.

Heather F.

Yelp
Best food I've had in San Antonio HANDS DOWN. Steak and gnocchi were the best I've had in years. Service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. Chaotic in the neat way and pen to the kitchen. We libed every single second of it.

Yelp
A great place for date night/celebrations. We never have a bad experience when dining in. The Margarita pizza is a must every time!! All dishes have that chef's kiss. 10/10 recommend

Jack B.

Yelp
If i could give Nonna Osteria a "10" ratings, I would have! Dinner, Christmas Eve, Server was Kayla and our meal was perfecto! Caprese, Cavolfiore, Bolognese, Spag/Pomadora and Budino. All topped off with a wonderful Italian Pinot. Must also include in the rating, the warm and engaging glow of the room. Our last visit was 3 yrs ago on a visit to SA and I'm hopeful we can return soon! I've traveled the world and rank Nonna Osteria one of my favorite restaurants! Kudos to Chef Luca and staff!
google avatar

Yelp
The food and ambiance were great! We had the Lobster Ravioli and Bolognese. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Nonna Osteria actually succeeded our expectations. The food is incredibly delicious, the ambient has a very cool vibe, their wine exhibition is fantastic and the service is actually very very good... Jeffrey was the best!!! 100% Recommend!

Yelp
Food is absolutely amazing!! I had to have the octopus salad, the warm goat cheese and the meatballs... WOW! Incredible!!! Then onto the entree of the pasta tossed in cheese wheel, topped with crab meat!!! Again, just AMAZING!! The service by our female waitress was exceptional!! She had such a great, fun personality and the whole experience complete! The dining room was very nice, located inside a quant hotel.. I go thru San Antonio for work, and this will be a must stop again... end of the month!! I can't wait to go back! It's a MUST visit if you love authentic Italian! Truly incredible food from start to finish!
google avatar

Jacob K.

Yelp
Food was so salty that it was inedible. I ordered a margherita pizza and rigatoni with shrimp.
google avatar

Katherine D.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place. Our server was efficient and polite. The eating area is gorgeous, clean, full of light, with plenty of space. The food is incredible. It is all perfectly executed. The arancini were crispy and creamy. The meatballs were tender without being over seasoned. The pasta... there are no words. It was fresh, cooked perfectly with perfect bite, and both sauces were amazing. Prices were also very reasonable. For the quality of food and service, I would expect to pay much more. My husband and I were both very impressed. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Lety T.

Yelp
The food and service is amazing!! Will definitely be back their noodle in the round cheese is worth the price$$.
google avatar

J Scott R.

Yelp
One of our top choices downtown. My pasta is always fresh and they also have gluten free pasta for my wife. Even with that, she chooses the sea food because it is so well prepared. Appetizers and sides are also consistently good (try the roasted vegetables and organic meatball). Our only criticism is the noise level. The decor is all tile and marble, which makes the room very loud.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
NONNA Osteria is regularly called the best Italian food in San Antonio. That may be true, but that doesn't mean it's a great choice for Italian food in general. NONNA isn't your generic pizza and pasta restaurant. While there is a small pizza menu, traditional Italian appetizers like Burrata, pastas like carbonara, and desert like tiramasu are the focus. The execution is just, well, off. The carbonara is an over salted heavy dish with an off color. Egg yolk yellow is what you'd expect, porridge white is closer to what's served. The ravioli zucca had a decadent filling trapped inside an undercooked shell. Al dente is fine, undercooked is not. The red velvet cake was beautifully presented, but was dense like bread and filled with a semi solid compote. If this was a neighborhood Italian restaurant this would all be excusable. However, the culinary aim here is much higher. It just needs to be proven. There a lot to like besides the disappointing dishes. The entry through the wine bottle cases is very inviting. The clean chic interior is perfect for a business lunch or date night. Staff is perfectly attentive and not overbearing. Waitress Lauren is as good a server as could be had anywhere and deserves compliment. A restaurant at this level must execute higher, especially given how many other things are going for them.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Great food, service and menu! We all ordered something different, everyone was very satisfied with their selection.
google avatar

Cece S.

Yelp
Great little gem in the heart of San Antonio. The restaurant entrance is tucked inside the entrance of the hotel. It was a little confusing, but we found our way. The restaurant itself if very quaint and intimate- perfect for a date night. They start you off with bread and an AMAZING olive tapenade. I could've eaten a whole giant bowl of it. We tried the burrata - and while we were expecting a ball of cheese, the melted cheese swimming in a red sauce was also super tasty. My husband opted for a steak with a bell pepper sauce and I tried the papardelle with mushrooms. Service was great, food was great. All made for a great evening!

Michelle S.

Yelp
A great restaurant! My friend talked about it for years, and we finally went. It was fantastic. They only took cash when we went.

Gregory W.

Yelp
We enjoy this restaurant very much. I find the prices to be reasonable for the quality. We received very good service and both times I've eaten here the food has been very good. Some of the dishes are a bit rich for my taste but they clearly are trying to serve elevated cuisine. I will be back.
google avatar

Austin W.

Yelp
The whole experience was top notch. The restaurant is beautiful and intimate, it was great for a date night celebrating a birthday. The service we received was wonderful and made the experience even better. We started with cocktails that were fresh and delicious, then moved onto the fried mozzarella caprese. We had never had fried caprese but it was so good! We moved onto the shrimp gnocchi and the carbonara. Both were wonderful, even for me who is not a shrimp lover. Then we ended the dinner with the tiramisu, which was the the best we've ever had. All in all we would come back. Food, service, ambiance was excellent and all for a very respectable price.

Nayiri B.

Yelp
Nonna is a gem. Grandma's recipes crafted for the modern diner. Every single bite was perfection. The gnocchi literally melted in my mouth - I've never had better. It's rare that I enjoy going out for Italian food but I'm so glad I got to experience such a delicious lunch.

Yelp
A casual fine dining restaurant on the outskirts of San Antonio Riverwalk with that "in the heart of Italy" feel! ATMOSPHERE: It inside of a nice hotel. It's not super formal or fine dining, so don't feel the need to dress up. But looking put together will make the experience more fun! I love the layout, it's a small restaurant without feeling stuffy. You can see the kitchen and chefs from every table & I really love how it makes the dining experience feel personal. Prices are totally fair, bill for two people getting drinks and an app was $61 with tip. Not bad for a restaurant like this! FOOD: Oh. my. god. Everything here top to bottom was fan-freaking-tastic. They have a food and wine specialist on staff and he told us that himself and the cook (both from Italy) helped create the menu and dishes and it SHOWS! We started with a stellar Moscato and I got the caprese as an appetizer. I pretty much get caprese at every Italian restaurant I go to and this one was significantly better than any I had before. The pesto was so fresh and the mozzarella was fried to perfection. We also split a regular cheese pizza and it was delicious! All the bread (including the bread they give you on the table) and pasta is made in house & you can tell! The quality here is EXCELLENT. SERVICE: The staff here is exceptional. It's a smaller, casual fine dining restaurant so they really care about your dining experience from beverage to closing the tab. They really take the time to guide that experience with their recommendations and answering of questions.

Yelp
I think everyone has said that the service and ambiance is good and that is true. But what's also true is that the food just okay, at best. It's not great and it's not terrible. Nothing to rave about. Wasn't a fan of making reservations a month in advance for my wedding anniversary to be placed in the smallest 2 table area in the very back of the restaurant with other tables not being used. Just passiveness from the management there. Don't recommend to any of my colored folk unless you want weird stares from the minute you walk through the door.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Super cute restaurant. Beautiful view of the hemisphere tower. Menu selection was a bit limited but everything we ordered was delicious. The wine selection is outstanding and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend for a date night. It's a bit small so wouldn't recommend it for large gatherings.

Alfredo O.

Yelp
The food was ehh the calamari was too seasoned. I had the lobster ravioli and it was perhaps undercooked? It was very rubbery and tough on the edges I told the server she made a face. The food ended up making me SICK. She honestly wasn't very helpful at all. The ambiance was boojie. Honestly the food and price didn't really match. I'd say you are better off going to Mon Chou Chou for pasta atleast it'll be nice a soft more attentive people and warmer atmosphere. The upside is valet parking is free for the spot the gentlemen at the valet was really nice and welcoming sadly the rest of the staff at the restaurant from the host to the server were stuck up or rude.
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
I made a reservation to dine here because I absolutely love all of Silo's establishments. My bf & I had the most exquisite dining experience and our wonderful server Hunter was super kind and accommodating made us feel extra special. Shout out to Hunter!! This man deserves a raise! I recommend the perfectly cooked Branzino if you are into seafood. Pasta was cooked to perfection as well. Al dante & excellente!!! Do not leave without trying the famous dessert coconut cream pie.

Yelp
Expensive as in EXPENSIVE. The Ambience is nice and service is good, it's part of the hotel and for sure rich people in San Antonio love this place. But experiencing great Italian restaurants in NY and NJ we still can't find a comparable Italian rest here in San Antonio. Their food is decent enough but for the authenticity in taste and considering the price, it's not really worth coming back here.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with a large wine collection in their glass wine cellar. Nonna Osteria is inside the Fairmount Hotel. Not a large menu but all the food choices we had were excellent. We had an early dinner there on a Sunday evening. It was not very busy but got busier as the evening progressed. Waiter did not seem very experienced in the menu options but was very nice and kind and accommodating. He was able to look up all the questions we had. The Filetto prime fillet and tiramisu were definitely my top choices.

Yelp
we went to this restaurant dec 9th in evening, we went upstairs to the roof bar first, ordered three old fashions with 10year pappy van winkle. one of my friends was charged $31 dollars my other was charged $38 dollars I was charged $41.00 we didn't look at our bills until we got home. we went downstairs for dinner I ordered two more of the same drinks during dinner. I was charged $244 for the two drinks. I called the restaurant the next day spoke to a Brandon said he would look into it and call me back. He never did. This restaurant is over charging people, and they do care if you know it. very dishonest place. Beware of this place, stay away
