Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai - Review - Fitzrovia - London - The Infatuation

"This Indian restaurant behind Oxford Street isn’t for anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet meal. Even when it’s half-full, the navy and burgundy dining room can get loud to the point of not being able to hear whoever’s on the other side of the table. Colleagues shout their order across the table, and dates sit side-by-side, just to hear each other. But we’d still take the lively upstairs dining room over the dingy basement. The food at Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai is a combination of fine, great, and immediately-order-again excellent. So here’s how to play it. Get the papdi chaat, a refreshing yoghurt and chickpea starter. Skip the curries and go for the perfectly tender, expertly charred chicken tikka, with the black dhal on the side, and the mango cheesecake to finish. The freshly sliced alphonso mango is the reason this falls firmly in the ‘order again’ category. photo credit: Lateef Okunnu photo credit: Lateef Okunnu photo credit: Lateef Okunnu" - Rianne Shlebak

"This extremely colourful, comfortable restaurant in the heart of Fitzrovia is modelled on the communal living ‘building societies’ of Bombay, and comes with striking posters, a relaxed ambience and an intimate basement bar. The menu is divided into ‘small’ and ‘big’ plates and sharing is encouraged. Dishes are confidently executed, easy to eat and full of fresh, regionally inspired flavours." - Michelin Inspector

Amazing dining experience here from our welcome into the restaurant to the bill everything was amazing. The open kitchen brought life into the room and you can see there’s passion in the kitchen something I’ve wished for years in my own home. Starters or small dishes were great and wished I could have tried everything on that section. The big plates we ordered the fish curry and rice with grilled broccoli with cream cheese and black dhal. Everything was bravo, taste buds were rejoicing, stomach and mind happy. Last nights pre theatre meal the experience was so good we are going back to for lunch.

Dined in a couple of times. The food is good and with fork app, it turned out to be better value. At full price, quality to price value isn't quite there..But still some dishes do stand out(hara kebab) while others(butter chicken) were just not good.

The best Indian food I’ve had in the UK, hands down. Pali Hill and Bandra Bhai delivered an authentic, flavour-packed experience that genuinely reminded me of home. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, rich in taste, and beautifully presented. A special shoutout to Nikhil G, he was an exceptional host. Warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, he helped us navigate the menu perfectly and made sure we had an unforgettable evening. His recommendations were spot on, and his energy really elevated the whole experience. If you’re craving truly authentic Indian cuisine with 10/10 service, this is the place. Can’t wait to be back.

Visited Pahli Hills Bandra Bhai recently and had a mixed but overall good experience. We started with two Nimbu Panis — salty and sweet-salty — but honestly couldn’t tell the difference between the two. From the small plates, we tried the Bombay Bhaji — it was flavorful but quite mild. I prefer spicier food, and while I should’ve mentioned that, it would’ve been great if the staff had asked about spice preferences. The Achari Paneer Tikka from the Tandoor & Grill was excellent — full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Instead of going for big plates, we opted for two sides — Okra Masala and Black Daal — along with Tandoori Roti and Lachha Paratha. The Okra Masala was nicely made but could’ve used a touch more salt. The Black Daal was creamy but quite bland for my taste. On the bright side, the portions for the sides were generous — definitely more than expected. The breads were fresh, soft, and absolutely on point. The place was packed, so the service was a bit slow, but nothing unreasonable. Overall, a good meal with some real highlights, especially the Achari Paneer and the breads. A bit more attention to seasoning and spice levels would really elevate the experience.

We had a lovely dinner at Pahli Hill in Fitzrovia before heading to a party nearby. The menu showcases regional Indian dishes with real depth of flavour – we loved the papadi chaat, creamy paneer makhani, and the chargrilled broccoli was a standout. The mango cheesecake was excellent too. The setting is stylish yet relaxed, with a warm atmosphere and open kitchen. A great spot for a cosy dinner or special occasion, and very deserving of its Bib Gourmand award.

Another absolutely fantastic meal at Pahli Hill! As always the food was spectacular. A refined take on classics with real attention to details. The dishes taste as good as they look and the staff are perfectly attentive. Overall I think the team behind Pahli Hill really know what they’re doing. Great service (food all arrived quickly and the presentation was excellent), great food and a good atmosphere. We will keep coming back!

Extended birthday celebrations and an award nomination call for an epic lunch with a great friend! 🥳 And Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai did not disappoint. That Tandoori Monk Fish with blistered corn? Pure heaven! The Dal Tadka and homestyle chicken curry with Lacche Parathe/Tandoori Roti and Saffron Pulao were perfectly balanced. Amazing ambience and so close to Oxford Circus! Highly recommend!

They no longer have dosa on the menu. A bit disappointed. There is no longer chocolate cake on the dessert menu as well . The decor is really nice...food presentation also good. Nice beers too. We had a nice tasty appetizer. My chicken tandoori tikka was excellent. The home style curry was saucy, but had a funny taste I didn't really like. The sauce wasn't so rich but there was a lot of sauce. We had a variety of bread and I could make out naan and a flaky roti. But it was a bit dry and maybe too crispy. It should have been softer to pick up the thinnish liquid gravy from the curry. The price is more than I would usually pay for curry. Service was good. A bit too much of an upsell which was too obvious.
