Downstairs, Palo Santo's open kitchen flaunts its wood-fired grill as tables fill up with whole heads of really good miso-glazed cauliflower, flaky branzino sporting a nice crispy char, and tuna-topped housemade blue tostadas. After getting your fill of carne asada dunked in a spicy jalapeño sauce and other magnificent modern Mexican dishes, head upstairs to the rooftop bar for drinks and dancing. "You'll find both giant Cousin It-like furry lighting fixtures and huge heads of cauliflower roasting on spits in the open kitchen at this upscale Mexican restaurant on the Westside. A typical dinner here involves a variety of tasty dishes like creamy patatas bravas mixed tableside and tender carne asada served with a side of marrow that you scoop directly out of the bone. But what we love most about Palo Santo is their late-night rooftop bar that caters to a 25+ only crowd, has incredible skyline views, rotating DJs spinning EDM tracks, and small bites that aren’t available in the main dining room (get the tasty nori tacos). "Named after a tree known for its purification properties, Palo Santo brings the flavors of wood-smoked cuisine to the Westside. We can’t promise that this Palo Santo will purge any low vibrational energies. But we can vouch for their creative Japanese and Mexican cuisine, which is perfectly represented in dishes like the hamachi tostada—a delicious mix of dry miso, uni, and yellowtail that gets some fun smokiness from burnt avocado and charred serrano yuzu mayo.
