Yelp
I really want to root for this place, but given the level of service and the high prices, it's hard to.
My family of 3 have been twice now, once by ourselves at what I would have assumed were off-peak hours at 3pm on a Sunday (wrong) and once with friends at 1pm on a Saturday (which was oddly half as busy as 3 on a Sunday). Both times we waited over an hour for a very small order of food; the second visit took 90 minutes for one fish sandwich and about 2.5 oz of butter noodles. (The line was inside the building on both visits, so it's not like we should have seen this coming.)
At $27 for an over-fried fish sandwich with no sides, I might as well be going to Nostrana. I'd at least get a side at that price and definitely served much sooner. What was doubly frustrating is that our friends are vegetarians, so their food came out a full 45 minutes before ours. This is a bummer if you're intending to share a meal with other tired parents, or really, just anyone.
Additional Prices (since others have mentioned they're discreet about listing them on the site/social):
--Soft serve is $5 for a very small portion
--Avocado sandwich is $22
--Cocktails average $15-$16
--Shrimp roll is $13 for baby shrimp
--Fries not included with any sandwich, including the deceptively named "Fish and Chips Sandwich"
Verdict: The location is lovely, and the vibe is genuinely nice. But at the current price point and wait times, I highly encourage you to resist the siren song of (the many, many) Portland Instagram influencers they've lured into a promotional partnership, and skip Pal's until they've worked out staffing and brought down their atmospheric prices (the points are nice, but I shouldn't need points to afford a pretty basic meal).
