"After letting its dough rise and rest for 96 hours, this place serves up one of the best pizza crusts in town. The crust is crispy yet soft, and comes with “pizza bones” dipping sauces, which are a must to savor every bite. When the crust is this good, there’s not a lot of need to get crazy with toppings, so Pie Tap doesn’t. A solid pepperoni, sausage, salami, or veggie pie will do the trick. Heading in for brunch to try the smoked salmon pie with Icelandic smoked salmon, ricotta, dill, and house-cured eggs is also a great idea. With three locations in Dallas, as well as Addison, McKinney, and Frisco, there is probably a place nearby — and these pies travel well. The drinks are excellent, and we give a special nod of approval to the espresso martinis, if you choose to stay. Vibe check: This is a great spot to bring the kids — the restaurant provides them with some pizza dough to play with. All its locations are relaxed and make for a great low-key daytime hang; it gets even more fun in the evenings, meaning it’s a solid choice for an easy date night or friend reunion." - Courtney E. "Pie Tap has a fun, bustling atmosphere (so loud kids aren’t going to be a problem), a patio with some outdoor seating, pizza (the most important kiddie thing), and they give dough to kids to play with while they wait for the meal — so if there’s a future pizzaiolo in your family, this might be their new favorite place. There are also tons of chicken dishes, salads, and pasta options that kids will enjoy." - Courtney E. Smith
"Hands down one of the best salads in DFW is the Workshop at all of Pie Tap’s locations. It’s a simple but elegant take on a grinder salad: mixed greens with calabrese salami, roasted peppers, red onion, olive, tomatoes, pepperocini, bacon, olives, provolone cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette. Proof that one doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel, just make it better." - Courtney E. Smith
"When your evening plans require pizza with a full bar, post up at Pie Tap. You’ll be joining the crowd of pregaming late twenty-something-year-olds at this Knox-Henderson spot that’s conveniently located near a bunch of bars for a night out. They have brews from Texas locals like Peticolas beers and carafes of pinot noir also pulled from a tap. Fill any remaining table space with garlic knots, lollipop chicken wings, and the very reliable margherita or pepperoni pizzas. They all make for a hearty stomach lining before the rest of a long evening cheersing to a bachelor or birthday girl. Now you’re ready to bar-hop your way down Henderson, at pubs like Old Monk or The Skellig." - kevin gray
"The pizza dough at this Henderson Avenue pizzeria is fermented for 96 hours, resulting in a truly transcendent crust. If, for whatever reason, pizza doesn’t strike your fancy, Pie Tap’s burger is also a good choice, as is the pasta carbonara. This family-friendly spot has loads of indoor and outdoor seating, including an expansive bar." - Courtney E. Smith
