The 15 Best Patisseries in Paris for Croissants, Cakes, and Eclairs | Eater

"Long considered the guardian of modern pastry-making, Pierre Hermé needs little introduction. While everything on offer at his Paris boutiques is seductive, there are three key reasons to visit: the Ispahan croissant, composed of rose, raspberry, and lychee; the Infiniment Vanille shortbread tarte, featuring a combination of Mexican, Tahitian, and Madagascar vanillas; and the exquisite macarons, which come in eclectic flavors like smoked tea, saffron, iris, carrot, and violet." - Dayna Evans

Google
Great variety of macron and a selection of chocolates to choose from , great service to foreigners, welcoming and friendly but most important of all . The ice cream was soooooo amazing While many people come here for the chocolates and macarons, I truly think their ice cream deserves much more attention and recognition you will know why it costs €8 for a small cup after the first bite , intensely flavorful, rich, and unforgettable.

Both macarons and ice cream were delicious. Full of flavors but not overly sweet. Must try!

Google
Just a tiny place with delicious macarons. Tried coffee, pistachio, rose and strawberry and they were all great. Surprisingly loved the macarons here, even though I’m usually not a fan. Highly recommended!

Google
Great macaroon. Unlike another brand which is more traditional, this has thicker cream and more unique play in colouring and flavour.

Very good macaroons, though they are a tad expensive. The workers were very nice and helpful.

This morning (June 15), I was served here by a gentleman who didn’t crack a single smile at me. And I loved it. Even though he wasn’t overtly friendly, he showed the utmost respect. I knew he spoke English as he used it to assist a previous customer; when I spoke French to him, he responded back in kind, even though it would have been very apparent it was not my first language. He gathered for us what we asked for in a very efficient manner, and was so kind to provide us with some sample chocolates. The macaroons and the chocolates were excellent - some of the best I’ve ever had to be honest (and I’ve spent the past five years in Europe). I will need to return for more. Anyways, I’ve never been served by anyone before that was so…expressionless to the point of almost cold, and yet, I felt that he treated me very kindly. I don’t know that I will be in that area before I leave to buy more from him, but because of him, I will absolutely be stopping at the next Pierre Hermé I see to get more treats.

Google
Very beautiful pastry shop with a wide selection of macaroons and chocolates. You get to select which design you want for your takeaway macaroon box.

Google
The macarons were just ok, out of four of them we liked one flavor. Also the chocolates were just ok. It was a bit warm inside and a tiny store.

Yelp
Like many others visiting the capitol of macarons, I did my side by side taste test comparison and the verdict is these macarons come out on top. The flavors do rotate but my favorite is the black sesame. In fact, it may be my favorite macaron of all time and I've had quite a few! Pierre blows its competition out of the water when it comes to ingenious flavor profiles, texture and taste. Bravo for being the best!

Yelp
'They' say this is a better macaron than Ladurée. I think people not from Paris would have you believe that so you can try it since the other place that starts with L exists in so many realms now. I however think they are exactly the same and in some instances worse and vice versa. I had gotten a box of four and the little tin is adorable. The first macaron was an olive mandarin combination and it was dry and unpleasant. The others had a good texture. But I surprisingly had the best macarons in Paris at a burlesque show. I am picky about macaron texture and need a little chew and soft combo. Nothing is worse than a dry crumbling macaron cookie. So in that aspect I have had this happen at both of the 'big' macaron producers in Paris. I think once these go mass production it can be a problem in quality. But you be the judge of that. Try it but don't think you did better than going to the other place. Don't make Paris make you into a snob!

Yelp
If heaven exists, it's inside a Pierre Herme store. So many samples. Ice cream, chocolate covered fruit and of course macarons. Eat them all and be happy.

Yelp
Amazing light fluffy macaroons!! I got 2 boxes of 12 and the flavors that stuck out to me were: ISPAHAN 5/5 * subtle hints of raspberry with a thick rose and letchi/lychee taste!! If you love lychee get this! I like how the rose doesn't overpower any of the flavors and complements the lychee!! CHAMPS DE MARS 4/5 * if you live black truffle/truffle Noir, you'd love this!! It's a combination of both flavors and is very strong!! INFINIMENT MANDARINE 5/5 * has mandarine orange and candid orange bits in it!! Sweet and tangy, just how I like it!!

Yelp
My favorite macaron shop! I love that they have a seasonal menu staples include caramel but the specialties like the ishapan, the passion fruit and the olive oil are all amazing. The staff are really patient as you consider the choices and the shop is super clean / bright!

Yelp
What's one to say? Pierre Hermé does elegant macarons. So many flavors to try. The macarons are delicate and a delight to the mouth.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool flavors, crispy and spongy cookies. Pretty much just your textbook macarons. Dope flavor: pate and fig.

Yelp
I love macarons and was not going to leave Paris without having any! Came here with my boyfriend to buy a couple of macarons to share and some chocolate to take home with us. The workers were a bit busy but we were able to get what we wanted and leave. The macarons were sooo delicious and I'm so happy that i chose to come to Pierre's over the other options since there are a few of them in my hometown of LA. Highly recommend stopping here for some treats!

Yelp
After purchasing a box of seven macarons during my first visit to Paris, I made my way down to the Jardin des Tuileries a block away and found a seat near the Jeu de Paume where I could eat these macarons for lunch. No, not because they were that good. (But yeah, I mean, they were pretty good.) I had just dropped €18 on macarons for which I couldn't quite justify the high price point just yet and my study abroad wallet couldn't take another beating that afternoon. (Oh, to be in college again...) You know, I'm not too sure why I chose Pierre Hermé over Ladurée, the latter of which is the quintessential Parisian macaron store or so its long lines imply. I wasn't terribly fussed about tradition (besides, I could have gone to a Ladurée in the States) and loathed the idea of waiting in a line since I was pressed for time during my weekend jaunt in Paris. So Pierre Hermé it would have to be and I found myself at this location before a visit to the Musee de l'Orangerie. I went with chocolate, salted caramel, and rose, though in retrospect I should have sampled one of the more unique flavors Pierre Hermé is known for. But I'm a sucker for anything chocolate -- the crispy and airy macaron shell and rich, silky smooth chocolatey ganache filling was definitely worth it. I've also never understood the rose flavor trend but I enjoyed Pierre Hermé's subtle take on it. Pierre Hermé gained my allegiance, my stomach didn't grumble in protest later when I was soaking in Monet's "Water Lilies," and I returned for another chocolate macaron or two during my most recent visit to Paris.

Yelp
True French macarons. You just can't get this in the US; they're not the same. I know the other famous brand is available in some parts of the US but this one is my new favorite. The texture of the 'cookie' is spot on. It has a nice crunch with some softness but not too soft as you get towards the center. The fillings are just the right amount of sweet without overpowering the macaron 'cookie' portion. Also when they mix flavors for the filling, each one stands out such that no single flavor overpowers the other so it's the perfect balance. I had one this morning that was chocolate and passion fruit and I would think that chocolate would completely overpower the passion fruit part but it didn't! It was completely balanced! I highly recommend this over the other famous brand. I loved the macarons from here so much I went twice and bought multiple each time. I even bought a dozen to take home with me and they made it through all my flights!

Yelp
Macaroons are amazing. Worth buying and trying. Macaroons are fresh, very light and fluffy consistency.

Yelp
We saw a long line during our route home and decided to check it out - instead of getting their famous macaroons we opted for their #1 and #2 popular choices. Both of them are yummy and would defiantly go back in the near future!!

Yelp
Pierre Hermé is better than Laduree. Yup, I just said that. The menu has the flavors in both French and English and the associates there were very friendly and were more than happy to explain what the flavors were in English. I ended up buying one of each flavor and spent about 48 euros for the box. My favorites were jasmine, rose, and salted caramel. I felt like the flavors and the consistency of the actual macaron were crispy and soft at the same time. I was able to bring the box back through Tupperware (because I'm extra AF) and put them in the fridge and they STILL tasted fresh even through all of the traveling we did. If you love sweets, I would highly recommend visiting here when you're in Paris!
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointed. The flavors were not as distinctive as Laduree, but I also like Boutegga louie in Los Angeles better than both. Coming to Paris, I had to make sure to try as many different macarons I could get my hands on. But I was greatly disappointed here for many reasons. The flavors selection was huge but the macaroons just didn't measure up to my expectations. The customer service was also a bit cold.
google avatar

Jenn T.

Yelp
While the texture is on point, the flavors were definitely lacking. Laduree's flavors are much stronger and the macaroons generally just seem fresher. They did have a large selection of flavors, but the taste just wasn't there for me.
google avatar

Cat C.

Yelp
The best macaroons! Unfortunately this location pretty much only has the macaroons and none of the beautiful cakes or pastries that I've seen on Yelp at the other locations. But I stopped by after visiting nearby Chanel. I got 7 macaroons for 18 Euro. They were a splurge but worth it. They just have the most perfect shell with the right amount of crisp and chewiness. The texture is slightly better than those at Laudree and I like Pierre's unique and bold flavors. I will always be a sucker for "standard" macaroon flavors such as salted caramel and a really good chocolate one, but we also enjoyed the unique ones such as rose, lycee, yogurt and raspberry. Definitely check out a Pierre Herme while in Paris for a sensuous sweet treat. I may have not eaten as many croissants or pastries in Paris as I thought I would, but I was happy that I got to get macaroons twice (even though I wanted to go to PH one more time before I left). Pierre Herme, please open up a shop in the US!
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Delicious macarons! Grabbed a box of seven and they did not disappoint. We were able to enjoy this box of goodies with a bottle of wine, this is definitely a suggested combination.
google avatar

Sayed Z.

Yelp
Chocolates and macarons were top notch, as was the service. The only downside is that this particular location has a limited range of products compared to their larger boutiques. The more sensational pastries--what Pierre Hermé is really known for--cannot be found at this location. However, the store can arrange to have your pastry of choice brought to their location. If I had to choose one macaron in Paris though, I'd head to Ladurée. The texture of Ladurée macarons is about as close to perfect as you can get.
google avatar

Yelp
O M G. Make sure you stop by at this place for your fix of delicious macarons!! Ask for a menu - it'll tell you all the flavors in both French and English so you know what you're choosing!! Prices are 2.2-2.5 euro depending. I had quite a few (raspberry, pistachio, passion fruit - all tasted as you'd expect) the specialty chocolate ones were yummy but I wasn't blown out the door BUT SOME OF THEM WERE OUTSTANDING, I've had to update this review a few times because I kept going back to try more hahahha. My faves: +orange blossom - has that slight flowery scent and filled with some citrusy light cream ++jasmine - omg. If you like jasmine tea this is delicious and tastes like they captured jasmine into this delicious shimmery macaron ++hazelnut praline - it tastes like NUTELLA so good ++rose - it tastes like I'm actually eating a soft crumbly melt in your mouth flower, delicious

Yelp
High time to start the macaron challenge! Mr & I decided to take the Paris taste test & determine who has the best. Pierre Herme offers smashup macarons! Dubbed by French Vogue magazine as "The Picasso of Pastry", we could totally see how this honor could have been bestowed Flavor combinations like Vanilla-Violet; Milk Chocolate-Passion Fruit - the texture was a bit more substantial-cookie-like and a higher filling-to-cookie ratio over places like Laudree. This isn't to say one is better over the other - they're just different Choosing a box of 6 to sample; we enjoyed: Salted Caramel Passion Fruit-Chocolate Vanilla-Violet ( our fav! ) Pistachio Rose-Rose Petal Pure Origin Chocolate Much more research will be needed here - they were too yummy to make any final determinations
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry Laduree, but this is where it's AT. O.M.G. These macarons are spectacular. Colorful, fresh and flavorful. And of course, if you are up for some exotic (perhaps crazy) flavors, this is also the place. Caviar macaron, anyone? No? Foie Gras perhaps? Seriously, in a macaron. And let me also say that after taking a macaron-making class while in Paris, rest assured that the time it takes to make one of these, it is well worth the cost. Go here.

Yelp
My husband and I went here an hour ago to finally try Pierre Hermé macarons. We were ready to buy a large box. But the workers were so rude! Snobby, ill mannered, and daft. There were 2 customers ahead of us when we walked in so we waited. In the meantime, 2 other tourists came in. After the staff finished with the guests that were before us, they literally walked past us and helped these other people. It's an extremely small, tight shop, so they saw us. We were literally in front of them. They made no eye contact and no greetings. The 2 rude workers were a short tiny blonde guy who's suffering from a Napoleon complex. And also a hook nosed woman who was taller and had black hair. Watch out for them. We went to Ladurée a couple blocks away instead. And will never return to this location again!

Yelp
In my quest to find the best macarons in Paris, I was not disappointed here. I cannot ever eat American made macarons again :(.
google avatar

Myriam G.

Yelp
This review comes from a macarons aficionado who has eaten them since childhood living in Paris. As I walked past the Pierre Herme shop on October 23rd on my way to the Place de la Concorde, I decided to try their macarons for the first time as I always purchase from La Durée. I ordered a box of 12 macarons. Left the shop and started eating them and one after the next had a hard shell and a chewy/sticky interior. Only 1 out of 5 was flakey on top and soft in the middle. I returned to complain and the lady in charge of the store made a big fuss, trying to discredit me and even said that they would not accept them back unless they are "rassis" ie. stale in English. Not only did she not accept to reimburse me, she proceeded to touch with her fingers my macarons and publicly shame me. What kind of service is that? Clearly the attitude that the customer is always wrong still endures... I would beware of this outlet that is clearly badly managed and with merchandise that is not fresh.
google avatar

Richard P.

Yelp
Very cute place that is decorated well with colors and fancy like declarations. The staff was easy talk to and were very helpful when asked about the flavors. I did not feel rushed during my time there and was very happy to try their newest macaron that is made with fingerling limes! The fingerling limes did have little pops in my mouth when I was chewing into them so that was really exciting.
google avatar

Sania I.

Yelp
Wow wow wow this was probably the best macaroons and pastry I've had in Paris. Literally every bite was amazing. If you're in Paris go check this place out. They don't have any seating but plenty of parks and coffee shops close by.
google avatar

Lucy Z.

Yelp
I'm not a macaron fan (or a macaroon fan). But I'm a fan of chefs leaving well-known restaurants or brands and starting their own. In this case, it's Pierre Herme who left Laduree and started this journey of inventive flavors in perfectly cute little macarons. Highlights include: MOGADOR (Milk Chocolate & Passion Fruit), ARABESQUE (Apricot & Crunchy Pistachio), and HUILE D'OLIVE À LA MANDARINE (Olive Oil & Mandarin). The flavors are amazing in their intensity and punch. Prices are a little scary, IMO, but how often are you going to visit shops like these?
google avatar

Suzanne L.

Yelp
Omg, I am hooked. I will definitely make it a point to swing by Pierre Hermé every time I am in Paris. If you're a sucker for macarons and also unusual flavors, this is the place for you! I got the chocolate and foie gras, white truffle, and caviar, after deeming those three to be the most unique and interesting flavors. Honestly, I just wanted to buy one of every flavor, but my wallet would not have forgiven me for that. The first two were 2.20 euros, while the caviar was 3.50. Hands down, my favorite was the white truffle. Please, please get this if you like the taste of truffle, because the flavor came through nice and strong. The chocolate and foie gras and caviar were also good, but it took a while for the foie gras and caviar to come through and they were more subtle when they did appear. I do love chocolate, but I can get a chocolate macaron anywhere! Overall some of the best macarons I've had, if not the best. I'll be back for that truffle and to try more flavors the next time I'm in Paris.
google avatar

Yelp
I thought I knew what a good macaroon was... Until I tried the ones from Pierre Hermé. WOW! Unique flavors is their motto. I had several, my favorite is the rose... But honestly, it's a personal preference and you should get what fancies you, because the flavors do change from time to time... And they're all of the utmost superior quality. Generous filling in a soft, gooey and FRESH treat! Other than macaroons, they have plenty of delectable cakes and pastries that'll satisfy any sweet tooth!
google avatar

Yelp
Holy macarons!!!!!! When I planned my trip to Paris, a friend recommended that I check out Pierre Hermé for their unique flavors. I thought I knew how good (and classy!) macarons were, and then I walked into the store near my appartement... These are advanced macarons. Though they do have the classics - their iterations on chocolate and rose were some of my favorites that I sampled - there are also plenty of innovative combinations to keep even macaron enthusiasts that have seen it all surprised. The best avant-garde flavor I tried was definitely the Mogador (passion fruit/chocolate), but these change seasonally, so be on the lookout. With any dessert (but especially macarons) presentation is key, and Pierre Hermé delivered. The shop itself was very luxuriously decorated, and the dark interior let the brightly colored rows of macarons pop. When you order, you get an adorable souvenir box that has doodles of different Paris landmarks on it. I've kept mine as a reminder of the trip (and that I need to order more macarons once I get stateside!). Be warned, they don't come cheap here. Seven macarons came out to €18, so be prepared. But it's utterly worth it for a little Parisian indulgence.

Yelp
Another great stop on our food tour. This place has some amazing looking cakes all look so yummy. Big fan of macaroons specially when they are made great this place gives new meaning to that. We were able to try one macaroon as part of our tour I had the Passion fruit one which is their signature one & it was delicious nice & soft great taste. I was hooked & ended up getting a small box to go tried the Raspberry amazing , Lemon & Orange ones also great. This place is delicious , the staff is very nice & helpful decent prices worth the try.

Yelp
If you are: a) a macaron lover (or even if you just LIKE macarons), and b) in Paris PLEASE do yourself a favor/let me live vicariously through you and go to Pierre Hermé! After having both Pierre Hermé and Ladurée in Paris, I am fully ready to declare myself as 100% Team Pierre Hermé. The flavor combinations at Pierre Hermé are more interesting and edgy, and the pastry itself had the most perfect texture and mouthfeel. We were lucky enough to stay practically around the corner from this beautifully modern store. I can't even remember how many different flavors of macarons we tried (all amazing!), but I do remember my absolute favorite: matcha green tea with black sesame. Icing on the cake? Super nice employees. The staff here gets an A+ in my book. The ladies we encountered were friendly and more than happy to help us in selecting flavors.

Yelp
One of the places that I had to visit during my time in Paris, I stopped by here to get some macarons after hearing so much about them. After having some macarons at this place, I realised why this place is so popular. The flavours I got were the Mogador, the Infiniment Caramel, and the Céleste. Great texture, especially on the inside of the macaron, and each flavour was unique and creamy. The Mogador is a mix of passion fruit and chocolate, and that was a great blend of chocolate and juicy sweetness. The Infinement Caramel had a nice and sweet caramel flavour that I may not find in a cheap candy bar that would have caramel. As for the Céleste, this is a mix of passion fruit, rhubarb and strawberries. This one had a great creaminess on the inside with a nice sweetness. Since Céleste can also be a girl's name, if I had to "personify" the experience, it could be like sitting in a cafe, with a gorgeous, but sweet lady named Céleste, and the conversations would keep getting better and better, leading to an amazing evening in the end. Anyway, the people who worked there were nice and friendly, and if you don't speak French, they should be able to speak English, since it's not too far from the Louvre, and obviously, the Louvre is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Paris. Overall, if you are from Canada or the USA, really like macarons and are visiting Paris, stopping by at place like this is worthwhile, even if you are on a budget. I thought I had some of the best macarons so far. I have not found a place that can replicate the unique flavours yet. They should export these excellent macarons to Canada and the USA, while maintaining the consistent and excellent quality.

Yelp
Loved the customer service at this location, I've never had Macaroons before, and was informed this place was the best of he beat.... the sales person helped me pick out some great ones. I enjoyed her enthusiasm at assuring me I was making a great selection. I'll be back to take some treats home to my family and take some back for myself also.

Yelp
Pierre herme is a chain and I think we went to every location in Paris but this location has pastries on top of their signature macaroons. Of course their macaroons are amazing but the raspberry rose water croissant blew my mind. I'm not huge on croissants and dont even like raspberry that much and also didn't know rose water was a flavor but it was crazy good. We travelled 30 min back to this location just to get another one.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
I was never a huge fan of macarons until I walked into Pierre Herme. I appreciate their unusual flavors but more so, their ability to create such strong and delicate flavors. This store was more than welcoming. I waltzed in just 10 minutes before closing, letting my sweet tooth guide me! They told me all about Pierre, his vision, the macarons and I was given a sample of one of the latest chocolates. I had to leave with some macarons. I am normally not a fan of Rose and Licorice but I was completely blown away by the great flavor but also the light, crispy texture. This is how it's done!
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
Pierre Herme! Wow just wow! You are hands down the best macaron in Paris! Soft gooey amazingness that you are - I couldn't stop thinking about you for the rest of my trip and wanting to come back here! The macarons are soft and not too sweet and they literally melt in your mouth! The flavors and combos are to die for - they are great at making perfect combos whereas Laduree is more on the traditional flavors side of things. By the ispahan - get it! And the ispahan macaron ice cream bar - do it! It is the best ice cream bar I've ever had - I still dream of it! The store front of chic and modern and everything is so colorful and pretty!!
google avatar

Ada H.

Yelp
I have to admit that I was a Laduree fan until I came here. The intense flavor, the freshness and the ice cream. You have to come here when you are in Paris. It's the best in my heart now

Yelp
And the Macaron Oscar goes to...Pierre Hermé!! Hands down, THE best macarons in the world! :D Stopping by Pierre Hermé is the highlight of my trip to France every year. I love the bold and creative flavors that Monsieur Hermé comes up with and the fact that these pastries (the French do not call macarons "cookies") last a lot longer than the ones you find at Ladurée. (I always bring back a box to my bestie and they endure the long flight back to the US, plus a few days after!) The macarons have plenty of filling (giving you a nice, soft center) and the shells are perfectly intact. It was love at first bite...with a lovely little crunch! These are some of my ABSOLUTE favorites: Céleste - Fruit de la Passion, Rhubarbe & Fraises Mogador - Chocolat au Lait & Fruit de la Passion Ispahan - Rose, Letchi & Framboise Infiniment Caramel - Caramel au Beurre Salé Chuao - Chocolat, Cassis & Baies de Cassis Infiniment Praliné Noisette - Praliné Noisette & Praliné Croustillant For those that would like to know, both Pierre Hermé and Ladurée use the Italian meringue method for making macarons as opposed to the French meringue method. It involves making a sugar syrup that gets poured into the egg whites to create a more stable batter, which then results in a more consistent macaron. A little more complex (and more tools involved) than the latter but the end result is quite satisfactory. SO glad to have a foodie BFF that can teach me about all of this and let me eat all the yummy creations! :D This Pierre Hermé is probably my favorite location out of all the other ones. The girls that work here are polite and very helpful and not at all snooty. Well, at least not with me! (If you don't TRY to speak French then don't be surprised if they get offended.) I also liked that this pâtisserie was close by the hotel I was staying at (Hôtel Costes) and is conveniently located nearby some of the major fashion boutiques. I love that I could take some of my treats and walk over to Le Jardin des Tuileries, one of the most beautiful parks in Paris, and just mingle with the locals. La vie est belle non? :)
google avatar

Carla L.

Yelp
When you are in Paris either of the Hermé shops are a must. Or both. In our case, we couldn't resist the siren song while passing by this one. Of course they are well known for their Macaroons, they do have them in varied and interesting flavors such as Wasabi and Pate. Quite... different. If you are picky stick to the flavors you know and love, because any other can be again, different. I do recommend the chocolate and any other pastries that catch your eye, these all are amazing and wonderful. Such a treat.

Yelp
These macarons are definitely interesting in their flavors and colors. Compared to Laduree, it is slightly smaller in size but tastes just as good! They got the right amount of chewiness! I'm giving it 4 stars because it is a little more expensive than Laduree and they don't have the classic pistachio flavor. If you are in an adventurous mood for unique macarons, these delectables will definitely satisfy your cravings.

Yelp
Macarons. This is the reason you're probably here. And they are good. The honey one particularly is awesome. So, why the one star? Because the way they treat customers could use some improvements. I walked into this Pierre Herme store and stood there for a good 3-4 minutes with one of the store clerks looking straight at me a few times but never acknowledged whether I was ready or had any questions. She found it much more important to place additional macarons onto the display trays that had plenty of the same kind of macaron flavors on them already. Right, because the macarons just can't wait to be transported from the back counter to the display. Okay, so I let it go and spoke to my travel partner about the various flavors. When the store clerk decided she was ready to take my order and interrupted by asking if she can help me during my conversation, I made her wait until I was done with my conversation. She then turns around to her coworker and commented in English that I ignored her when she said hi. Excuse me? What kind of customer service is that? You can be English, American, Chinese, French, but part of customer service is that you don't outright talk about your customers. Talk about your customers behind closed doors at a staff meeting. Talk about your customers over beer after work. But not in their face. Pierre Herme has awesome and high quality products and I wouldn't take that away from the brand. But customer service/experience is a large part in building and maintaining a brand. No one has continued success with having high quality product but poor customer service because as much as we eat with our mouths and stomach, we also eat with our feelings. I've been to other Pierre Herme stores in Paris and I had a wonderful experience. I even purchased additional items based on the subsequent recommendations from the clerk. I hope this experience is an isolated situation.

Yelp
Phenomenal macarons. They've got some really interesting flavors going on here, including some that incorporate savory notes of foie gras and caviar. My favorite was the passionfruit, though. The texture is perfect and if you're taking these home as a gift like I did, don't worry. I refrigerated them as much as I could and they were just a great three days after purchasing. ALMOST as good as laduree, which I still prefer due to its more traditional flavors. Still, I wouldn't complain if they decided to open a PH in the states.

Yelp
Ok today I was blown away. I had macarons that topped mine. Pierre Hermes goes beyond "tradition" macarons that rely on singular flavors. They dual fill their macarons as well as mix the cookie flavors. I kick myself for not trying them sooner. They are located right next to my hotel the Melia Vendome and I did not try them on my April trip to Paris. I now have a new staple location to visit. FYI their collections are seasonal so you will not run out of options if you visit at different times of the year. On 9/9 I tried Mahogany (salty caramel, coconut with a mango filling), Jasmine & grapefruit, Montebello (pistachio and raspberry), and infinite praline (pillowy with crunchy pieces of praline adorning the exterior. I can happily say these topped mine with their creative combinations. I now know I can let loose and not get labeled as an unconventional American.

Yelp
Stumbled into this place while just wondering the streets of Paris! I had heard that it's the place to get macarons so obviously I stepped in! Got an assortment of macarons and they are by far the best macarons I've tasted! Super moist and the filling was generous! My favorite flavor was the rose. So good! I almost wished I had just gotten a box of just that flavor! They do weird flavor combinations and I tried a few and they were all good but the rose flavored once stands out as the best in my opinion! Hands down better than the macrons I had at Laduree or Angelina's.

Yelp
Ooh La La! That's about all the French I know, but after visiting Pierre Herme, I want to learn more so that I may profess my love in the appropriate romance language. Let me say that, although I am no expert on macarons, seldom even thinking about them, PH made me a convert. They induced a true "Anton Ego taking a bite of ratatouille" moment. We had purchased conficture, chocolates and a few macarons to try on a recent visit. We walked down the street, found a seat on the steps of the Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption and opened the cellophane package containing three macarons. The first, chocolate, was divided in two and placed in our mouths. That's when the rapture hit! Was it the slight crisp on the outside that gave way to a tender, tasty pastry or was it the dense, cold, creamy chocolate filling that instantly made our eyes bulge, our mouths stop chewing and a curl form a blissful smile on our lips recognizing that we had found our sweet Nirvana? The only thing missing was a choir of angels triumphantly singing, "La Marseillaise". We quickly devoured our final two macarons: olive oil with vanilla and peach with saffron. They were equally delicious, so much so that I went back the next day to purchase 20 more macarons for our trip back to the US.

Yelp
The Mecca of Baked Pastries and Macaroons ....I like to call this place a HIGH END Boutique Pastry and Chocolate SHOP There are tons of pastries places at almost every block or two blocks from each other... and ALL taste amazing. I consider myself not a big sweets type of person before I walked into Pierre Herme's... Everything is excellent especially their baked goods... My favorite was their - cranberry croissant with cranberry jam glazed with with dry bits of cranberry - **** It was seriously the best croissant I have ever had in my life.. Not too sweet, but it had all the elements of strong cranberry taste with the jam and glaze... it was total harmony The second must try was the - real glazed strawberry pistachio sponge cake with pistachio cream filling... OUT OF THIS WORLD.. GOOD!! I had to sit down because my taste buds were in cloud 9.. I literally stopped and didn't want to eat it anymore.. And of course, MACARONS.... My personal favorites were the pistachio, passion fruit and lavender, and strawberry.. every flavor is a must try once.. Excellent tasting with a lot of bold smooth flavors. The filling is not too sweet and creamy. While my stay in Paris, we had to find the best tasting macarons. We tried Aoki, Laduree (in London), and Pierre Herme (at this location and London).. My personal option the Pierre Herme at this location with the selection and the macaron flavor and taste is the winner.. TIP (1) :: The baked goodies is finished when they run out, and so try to get there early if you want to try that croissant.. TIP (2) :: The macarons are told to be good for 4 days if refrigerated. So it is probably not a good idea to bring back the goodies abroad. (Don't try it because we thought about it... And customs don't like food from abroad) TIP (3) :: Just if.. you think you can get Pierre Herme's abroad.. you can in London.. BUT it is not the same. (We tried to seek it out, in which we did so, and experienced a major difference) SO please do yourself a favor and try the real deal in Paris and not in London.. London does not have the original flavors or the baked pastries. TIP (4) :: You just gotta try this.. It changed my whole outlook on sweets and pastries.. It is a must.. You will thank me later!!!

Yelp
Poor customer service. After waiting in line, my wife and I were ignored when it was our turn to be helped by the staff. The classless woman standing behind us drew the staff's attention so she was helped first... and she was ordering a single macaron.

Yelp
Believe the hype. Pierre Herme makes the best macaron period. I compared the pistachio flavored macaron from Ladauree, Fauchon and PH and I must say although they all were very tasty, PH was my favorite. Each macaron cost 2,10 a pop. The outside shell had a good texture and a little bit of chewiness consistency. The pistachio filling was the perfect amount and had a lovely pistachio flavor. I should have bought more! The long line was worth the wait. Well hubby did the standing in line part. :)
