No-nonsense operation showcasing specialty pizzas cooked in a wood-fired brick oven.
"Corkage fee: $12 Having wine with a few slices of pizza is a no-brainer, something this Montrose spot embraces for only $12. Try an oven-fired Neapolitan pizza, Detroit-style slices with cupping pepperoni, or a New York-style pie with a bottle or two. And given that the inside of Pizaro’s is massive, you could probably bring a group of 20 and barely make a dent in the available seating. All you have to figure out is who’s picking up the mixed case from H-E-B." - chelsea thomas
"At this BYOB Napoletana-style pizzeria, red and white pies are baked at 900 degrees in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven. Choose your adventure with toppings like Iberico de bellota, prosciutto, and goat cheese, or select from the already-established fusions like the fragrant, truffle oil-topped patata y funghi. New York and Detroit-style offerings are available, too, including Pizaro’s special Stuffed Detroit-style pie that’s packed with ricotta, mozzarella, and tomato sauce, or the sweet and savory Mr. Sweet Pea, an ornate assembly of caramelized onions, bell peppers, and Italian sausage." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

"Pizaro’s Pizza Napoletana II in Montrose makes Neapolitan, Detroit, and New York-style pizza with imported Italian ingredients. So it’s best used as a takeout powerhouse for your at-home pizza needs. All of the pizza here is good, but the Neapolitan pizza is excellent. Baked for under two minutes in Pizaro’s giant wood-burning ovens, the pies are bubbly, soft, and slightly chewy. Grab a classic margherita red pie or an arugula white pie (add prosciutto). While the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, the uncomfortable metal chairs clanging against the concrete floors create a constant din of noise. And while you maybe shouldn't eat an entire pie in the car, who’s going to stop you?" - Chelsea Thomas, Gianni Greene
