"Sarma Melngailis, known for her documentary 'Bad Vegan', is planning to relaunch her once-famous raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. The restaurant was popular among celebrities and was the meeting place of Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin. Melngailis pled guilty to misusing $1 million in business funds in 2017 and served time in prison. She now seeks investors to help revive the restaurant." - Emma Orlow

"If the Real Housewives of NYC ever have a vegan dinner, there’s a good chance it’ll happen at Plant Food + Wine. Even the plants in this sleek, all-black, East Village spot have individual spotlights to show off their tiny pores. You’ll find the best vegan cheese plate we’ve ever had, plus incredible bread and butter (which is worth the $8), and a veggie burger that’s too good to eat on camera." - Nikko Duren, Matt Tervooren

"Kenney’s start in vegan food began in 1993, with his first vegan restaurant in New York, and operates 15 restaurants on five continents. Last March, he opened New Deli, a vegan and raw food restaurant in Venice after opening Plant Food + Wine in 2015. Kenney’s persistence keeps moving forward though, even after a succession of openings and closings throughout the years in Southern California." - Mona Holmes

Incredible service, cocktails, and food. I had the big apple- sweet but not unbearable. Strongest alcohol profile on the menu and hard to tell (beware 😉). Friend ordered the grapefruit based cocktail and also the beer based cocktail. Having tried both, I prefer the grapefruit one. If you're lucky enough to get Cris/Chris as a bartender, you're in incredible hands. The food is delicious. Their hummus is tasty! Very smokey and tangy with a wide range of foods to dip with. The avocado Tikka was unreal! A little sweet at first but scrumptious and we'll rounded. The lasagna is such a wild looking dish (the stacked one with red and white). The nut ricotta was so impressive as a cheese replacement. I recommend mashing the whole thing together, destroying it's beauty, in order to consume it. Mixing all of those flavors is amazing! Pro tip: go on a Tuesday night of a holiday week. The atmosphere was so calm and enjoyable 😍😁

Great spot with some questionable dishes. Loved the dumplings, hummus, sweet potato, spaghetti and caprese - the soup and desserts however were less impressive. Great service and vibe, and their drinks menu is extensive and innovative.

Great experience. Delicious food, great service and ambience, details: tableware, beautifully arranged dishes. Delicious wine. We’ve had chestnut soup, king oyster mushroom gyoza, plant burger and tomato & zucchini lasagna. Zucchini lasagna stole my heart. There is a way to win me as a guest - play beautiful music, so did they. I am especially attracted to places who play deep house and jazz. Thanks for a great dinner!

We ended up to Plant Food + Wine when we were looking for Bar Verde. It was a pleasant surprise and we decided to have a try. We opted for the dumpling and sweet cocktails. It was delicious! For more pictures, visit my Instagram (IG: kelledstyle) :-)

Food was unique and very tasty. Beautiful presentation too. My nonvegan friend loved it as well. Our server was great too.

This was a wonderful place! Wonderful wine! Wonderful food! Wonderful service! It was a diamond in the hard coal rock of NYC! Quality all the way.

Wonderful place and exquisite vegan food - definitely an inventive chef- a refreshing change from a lot of the standard vegan options! We went in a group and shared a few courses which I would recommend as you get to experience all the wonderful flavours of this delicious food. The waiters were great - extremely attentive and helpful without being overbearing. Definitely recommend!

Really WOW good food here. I had lunch on a Saturday outside on the patio. April the server gets my 5 star rating. Very pleasant relaxing casual but yet upscale atmosphere. Clearly a very well created and well managed restaurant. Oh I recommend the chickpea with guacamole entree. I will definitely be back to explore the evening atmosphere and a glass of that wine.
