The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants In NYC

"No disrespect to gluten-free baked goods, but the sandwich bread at Postcard does not taste gluten-free. It tastes like fluffy and slightly sweet angel food cake, which is appropriate for a candy-colored place that also sells mochi doughnuts and strawberry boba tea. This zero-gluten West Village Japanese bakery from the folks behind Nami Nori doesn’t have much seating—just a single pastel banquette—so plan on stopping by for a quick takeout snack. The egg salad sando is simple, messy, and inhalable." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine

Postcard

"After over a decade living in New York, there are few things I will stand in line for at this point—but a few weeks ago, I discovered that an egg salad sando ($9) from Postcard is apparently one of them. From the same team behind its neighbor Nami Nori, this shoebox-sized spot in the West Village serves a small menu of Japanese sandwiches and pastries from inside a cutesy, Wes Anderson-ified space (think block colors of red and yellow, and wallpaper featuring ginkgo leaves) that has Tik Tokers waiting down the block for its light-as-air, gluten-free sandwiches. We ordered a spread that included the aforementioned egg salad, which was simultaneously fluffy yet rich, as well as a chicken katsu ($14) that left me yearning for more (okay, I was really hungry, but I do think it should be bigger), and an array of fruit fillings like strawberry, grape, and orange ($9). Pair it all with a strawberry milky featuring an extra shot of matcha and brown sugar boba ($11.50)—IFYKYK." - Lale Arikoglu

Postcard - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"The folks behind Nami Nori are great at opening impeccably designed, potentially franchisable spots that serve fairly delicious food at reasonable prices. Postcard, a gluten-free Japanese bakery in the West Village, is their latest venture, and it sure is adorable. The wallpaper features a pattern of ginkgo leaves, the seating consists of a single wraparound banquette, and half the room—walls, ceiling, and all—is painted candy apple red. Behind the small counter, there’s a tidy display of cookies, buns, and mochi donuts, in addition to a few sandwiches on fluffy, cake-like bread. Would the chicken katsu be better (and crispier) if it wasn’t premade? Probably. But it’s good enough as is, and you can’t beat the convenience. Stop by for a quick takeout snack, and don’t skip the desserts and bubble tea. photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio" - Bryan Kim

Nami Nori Opens Postcard Bakery in the West Village - Eater NY

"Hand roll restaurant Nami Nori is opening a tea house and bakery called Postcard, right next door in the West Village, at 31-33 Carmine Street, at Bleecker Street, on February 9. Lisa Limb, Taka Sakaeda, and Jihan Lee — who met while working under for Masa Takayama at three-star Michelin restaurant, Masa — opened Nami Nori in 2019 as a dressed-up temaki experience. Since then, the trio has opened a location in Williamsburg and another in Montclair. At Postcard, Sakaeda is doing the baking. Limb says that the location came about serendipitously, with their Nami Nori landlord, who also owns this space, asking if they wanted to take over. It’s been in the works for a year, she says. The menu features sweet and savory items from $3 to $14 with pastries like miso shortbread, raspberry mochi doughnuts, and black sesame banana bread; cakes by the slice like strawberry mousse cake and koji cheesecake; and chiffon cake fruit sandwiches (an item that’s become more popular thanks to TikTok); chicken katsu, and an egg sandwich. The restaurant’s mochurros, served with lemon curd, and sesame miso chocolate chip cookies will also be available. Like desserts at Nami Nori, everything is gluten-free — joining the ranks of other bakeries that cater to those with dietary restrictions, such as Noglu on the Upper East Side. Japanese teas are sourced by Kettl Tea and include matcha, hojicha (green tea), the loose-leaf sencha, soba cha, and black tea, with optional toppings like Okinawa brown sugar boba, coconut jelly, and housemade syrups. Coffee from AAPI-backed Coffee Project NY is also available. Drinks are $5 to $9. While some restaurants have pulled back on investing in pastry chefs, high-end pastries have continued to thrive and evolve in other formats. Over the past few years in New York, there’s been an explosive rise in bakery openings, with names like L’Appartement 4F and Librae Bakery. Increasingly, restaurants themselves are also opening them: Raf’s operates as a bakery by day, led by pastry chef Camari Mick. Meanwhile, restaurants joining Nami Nori like Nura, Frenchette, and Sofreh, have also plotted bakery standalones, outside of and in addition to their restaurant. The jewelry store showcase feel of the bakery is designed by Sarah Carpenter & Studio, which did HAGS and the Talea taprooms across the city. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday." - Melissa McCart

Google
super cute place for gluten free treats!! the strawberry sando was my fav personally, I liked how it was in a slice of cake instead of using regular bread. I think that works better for sweet sandwiches lol. the hojicha latte was also really good! the interior design is also very cute, I love the tiny Japan Post mailbox with drink order menus. only drawback is that the cafe is kind of small for sitting in; the tables CAN sit two people, but when I went literally all of the tables had two people sitting (including mine) so it was a little difficult getting up since you're all crammed on one big couch. I realize this isn't really the cafe's fault, but just something to keep in mind!!

Google
We stumbled upon Postcard Bakery because my husband is gluten-free , he found it online and we decided to stop by just before closing. Even with the short time, the experience was delightful. We picked up the matcha cheesecake and their signature kiwi sando , both looked like miniature works of art. The presentation is gorgeous, and you can truly feel the care and creativity behind everything. The café itself is like a cozy, colorful art studio , vibrant, playful, and full of personality. It’s clear the owners put their heart into every detail. The kiwi sando was especially memorable — inspired by Japanese food culture, it was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The fruit was super fresh, and the textures and flavors worked together so well. The matcha cheesecake had that perfect rich but not-too-sweet balance , smooth, earthy, and satisfying. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but understandable for gluten-free ingredients and the craftsmanship involved. We’re already looking forward to going back and trying more of their creations.

Google
such an adorable little cafe on a lovely street! staff was all so nice and welcoming. i enjoyed my strawberry sando, the cake itself was a pound-cake like texture— so not a traditional japanese sando with fluffy milk bread— but i understand as this place is gluten-free. the katsu left a little more to be desired. i wish it was served hot, and the meat itself is rather dry and unappetizing.

Google
They’ve got the best matcha cheesecake in NYC — good enough to put the basque crap at Nana’s Green Tea @KTown to shame. The fruit sando and mochi donut were interesting concept-wise, but the taste is just not on par with the cheesecake.

Google
This is a small, cute cafe! The atmosphere adds so much to the unique cafe vibe. Not good for big groups as seating is very limited, but perfect for individuals or pairs who want a cozy cafe to try out! The matcha was delicious and one of the best I've had in a while. Smooth and rich, perfectly sweetened (if you asked for it sweetened!) Not too bitter not too sweet. Perfect taste and serving size! I tried a chicken katsu sandwich, not my favorite but not bad either and still pretty good for a quick bite! It was a little savory, sweet, and refreshing at the same time (it's a cold-cut sandwich). You can ask for a whole sandwich or half sandwich. 100% absolutely have to come back!

Google
Picking favorites is too difficult, but I would die for the matcha and raspberry donuts. Even more so the frosted miso shortbread cookies! Grab a melon soda on a hot day or a banana milky with espresso, you’ll thank me later!

I went here with my friends a week ago, and can’t stop thinking about it. I really love their coconut buns, like…. Really love. I also tried their version of the Arnold Palmer which was PURPLE!!! So cute!!!

The atmosphere is something out of the 60's. The servers are friendly. The treats are amazing. Everything in the store is GF..

Yelp
When I can tell a cafe was someone's dream, it makes the experience so much more fulfilling. This is a small cafe with really big style and a theme that works for it through and through from the tiny mailbox menu to the cute bags and containers they use. Each time I visit I'm greeted with a smile and really fun aprons the owners wear. Their food is also great - their egg sando is exactly what I wanted and their cookies are also great. Each thing is created with care for display so the aesthetic component of eating is also fulfilled. The flavors are not overpowering and give a "nice afternoon break between lunch and dinner in autumn" vibe. I genuinely wish more restaurants in NYC had this level of care put into their work - the space is clean, each product is curated, and while it is small, it's always worth stopping by. Every single time I've been there it's been a rainy day so I've been able to get a quiet seat for a few minutes but I'm sure it's popular during normal sunny days.

Yelp
veryyy cute gluten free bakery! i liked the savory items more than the sweet the food: i got the katsu and egg sandwich, chocolate cake, and the matcha munchkins. the katsu was by far my favorite, chocolate coming in second. doughnuts were not that great IMO the drinks: i rec the melon cream soda, its really a rare find! the matcha is okay but if you get it flavored, the flavors are very very strong (i got red bean and all it tasted was red bean) the space; small, cute, and red! the service: kind

Yelp
Today I stopped off here and got their strawberry fruit sandwich, it was really good. Strawberry fruit sandwich- some places use plain white bread, they used a tasty vanilla cake with cream and strawberries in it. Very tasty. Overall; Will likely go back to again

Yelp
I was recommended this place from a YouTube video and decided to try their iced matcha. It was delicious and how a matcha should be made. We went at around 9:30am on a Friday and no one was there so I received my order quickly. For anyone wondering if there is a public restroom, no. 9.5/10

Yelp
Very cute but small cafe. Very cute but small pastries as well. I was surprised to see how tiny everything is considering pricing is arguably steep. I got two fruit sando's which totaled nearly $20. Really delicious though. The cream filling was light and bread was moist and fluffy.

Yelp
SO GOOD! The matcha here is great quality & the ratios are right! The interior is very cute and although it can get super busy the line goes by fast! My new fav place in the west village!

Yelp
COME FOR THE STRAWBERRY MILKY WITH MATCHA. Literally came two weekends in a row for it, hah. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Tastes like a strawberry milkshake and the matcha helps balance out the sweetness. Default is whole milk, but you can get oat. You can get it with or without boba. Food is closer to a 3-3.5 stars, but bumping up because of the milky drink. You can order half or whole sandwiches. The half option is nice because you can try more. Ordered: -Chicken Katsu Sando: this has potential. Great flavor, but as others noted the texture & temp are off. Sandwich is premade so the katsu is soggy and cold. Bread is soggy from the sauce as well. -Egg Sando: I enjoyed this. Pretty standard egg sando, but it was perfectly seasoned. -Lemon Bun: this was decent, not sure I'd order again. But it was moist. Place is pretty small - maybe 2 small tables out front and 4 little round tables inside very close together. If it's a nice day, recommend getting food to go & eating at Washington Square Park.

Yelp
Saw this place on IG Reels and had to come check it out! Overall the vibes are on point and it's definitely one of the cutest Japanese cafes in the city. My friend and I came here to try the strawberry sandwich and also got a chicken katsu one. The chicken katsu one was flavorful but the portion was very small ($7 for a small half sandwich) and the strawberry sandwich was definitely better. Though they use a sweeter almost cake like bread instead of a thin white bread you would find in Japan. Still very good though! Would definitely give it a try if youre looking to fulfill a not-too-sweet craving!

Yelp
Ordered summer special berry sando and chicken katsu sando. AMAZING. Katsu sando was very flavorful (served cold). well seasoned cabbage provided a nice textural contrast to the soft tender chicken. Fruit sando was served inside the lightly sweet pound cake and cream was refreshing and lightly sweetened. Really nice treat. Will def come back to try their egg sando as well as other sandos and drinks. What a cute small place in West Village.

Yelp
When I used to think of tamago sandwiches, it would call to mind the humble ones I would grab to go from a 7-11 under a JR "densha" station near Shinjuku. These kewpie-laden sandos have now become one of the delicacies du jour that you can find at high end Japanese bakeries and restaurants across the City. I have tried quite a few options, and Postcard's is good but probably not my single favorite. Perhaps the egg salad could have used a bit more sweetness? It just felt like it was missing one or two notes. The cold brew was excellent.

Yelp
Amazing amazing gluten free food. We had the katsu sando, strawberrt sando, and mochi donut. My friend who doesn't eat gluten free couldnt not tell it was gf and raved about it. Coffee is good too!

Yelp
To be short: get the strawberry matcha latte, skip the baked goods if you can handle gluten. My wallet was crying when I splurged $10 after tax for their strawberry matcha, but I didn't regret it. It was so far the best strawberry matcha I've ever gotten in NYC. I went there at 2pm on Sunday, the store had a very long line and the inside was crowded and chaotic. We waited around 20-30 mins to order. The line became much shorter though when we left at 3pm. *Strawberry Fruit Sando $9 It was very cute-looking yet tasted underwhelming. They only put strawberry on the top and there was nothing on the bottom. The bread pores were rough, which was understandable as it was gluten-free. Every component was average. At this price point I would expect something more delicate. *Koji Basque Burnt Cheesecake $9 * The only item I'd recommend from Postcard. The cheesecake was tremendously creamy, literally melted in our mouth. The brown caramelized top was sweet and enjoyable. We didn't know what was "koji". I searched it afterwards and found koji (麹) is a type of soybean/malted rice. No wonder it had a naturally sweetened flavor with an umami aftertaste. *Raspberry Mochi Donut $2/pc The texture was chewy but the raspberry flavor only came from the raspberry powder coated on the surface. I wish they put raspberry creme filling. Also $2 for a bite was too bourgie for me... *Strawberry Matcha $9.5 *** As you can see, it has a higher ratio of matcha than strawberry milk. The matcha was strong and not clumpy, while the strawberry part had the perfect sweetness level (I asked for less sugar). I thoroughly enjoyed every sip of it!

Yelp
No wait at all on a Saturday around noon, which was a pleasant surprise! The decor of the place is gorgeous-- I love all the bright colors of the place. There is some seating, but very cramped and definitely not abundant. There are a few parks nearby to take your food though if you cannot find somewhere to sit! We tried the Katsu Sando and Rainbow Fruit Sando. The flavor of the Katsu Sando was fantastic. I loved the chicken, the soft bread, and the tiniest hint of spice in the sauce. It comes cold-- like out of the fridge cold, which I wasn't really expecting. Still really good but caught me off guard a bit. I think if it were warm, it would be a 10/10. The Fruit Sando was tasty. Probably exactly what you think it would taste like. The bread had a hint of sweetness, almost tasted like a pound cake, and the cream was SO GOOD. It was light, not too sweet, and just perfect. I was shocked that everything here was gluten free!

Yelp
Such a cute little cafe!! Opened up by nami nori. Lots of different pastries and desserts. They also have some sandos. Came after eating so I don't get to try the sandos but will be back to try them. The teas were also delicious. I got a matcha bubble tea which was very matcha-y. The servers were super helpful and excited to share their recs. Definitely pretty enough for a postcard ;)
google avatar

Sharon D.

Yelp
I ordered a lemon bun and a shortbread cookie. Both items were quite lovely looking. I hate to say it but I was disappointed in the shortbread cookie. It was quite gummy like it had absorbed too much humidity or something. The lemon bun was purchased for my morning treat but I couldn't resist cutting a tiny bite. The bun itself was quite nice but the frosting was the star here!!! Very good. I'll certainly purchase that again.
google avatar

Yelp
I was literally here two days in a row because I bought myself cookies and then went back to get some friends something from here too. There's not too many seats here indoors, but the space is very cute. The Matcha Mochi Donuts are like matcha-flavored powdered donuts and are very chewy. I'd say they're the best mochi donuts I've had in the US (but maybe I'm a loyal Mister Donut fan). Despite not being a shortbread fan, I wanted to try the Miso Shortbread Cookie because it intrigued me. It surprisingly didn't taste that much like miso soup like I was expecting, but it gave the typical shortbread flavor some more complexity. It was soft and chewy. I feel like it'd be good with a hot latte. I also ordered the Sesame Miso Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was super good with salt flakes and the sesame seeds on top. If you're a fan of chewy cookies, you'll like this one.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
Tried this place because it was so hot and the strawberry shortcake sandwich looked delicious - we were not disappointed. Wish there were a few more baked good options to choose from, but can confirm the strawberry shortcake was great!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
They're alright I guess. I don't think its worth the hype though. The latte I ordered was great and the basque cheesecake was alright but it wasn't mind blowing. Don't think I'll be back. Not sure why its so hyped up, I guess the decor inside allows for good grammable food products? I never tried their fruit sandos or egg sandos as honestly they didn't look like it was worth the $$. Don't think I'll be back.
google avatar

Kate C.

Yelp
I got the strawberry milk with a shot of matcha and it was okay, nothing to call home about. But you know what to call home about is that the drink was $13!!! lol. Ann got the Chicken Katsu sando and it was soggy, not that good. She also got the banana milk with espresso shot that was pretty good. Expensive! So expensive!
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Came in on a rainy day. There's not much indoor seating, so I ended up taking my food to go. For the more substantial sandwiches (i.e. the egg sando and chicken katsu sand), the prices aren't bad. They also sell it by half portions, so that's pretty nice if you want to mix and match and try other things. I do wish that they prepared the chicken katsu sando to order because the chicken was soggy. There was no crunch whatsoever, but the taste was good and the chicken was moist. The gluten free bread was so surprising. I didn't expect it to be so soft. It was softer than most other milk bread that I've had. The hojicha chocolate cake was so dense. The hojicha cake was good, but it was definitely overwhelmed by the sheer amount and density of the chocolate mousse. It was a little dry because of that, but it was still good. Just wanted more hojicha flavor. If you're gluten free, this is a solid option. Even if you're not, it's good.

Yelp
Cutest new gluten-free cafe in West Village! My friend and I stopped by on opening day Friday afternoon and we were greeted and told to place our orders on an order form! The interior is a beautiful red - a bit small with no order pickup area so will need to stand around inside to get the order. The order form gives you lots of options - matcha, coffee, milk, etc. with add ons like boba! I got an iced matcha latte with boba and it was very strong in matcha flavor, with the boba tasting less sweet. They also offer pastries! My friend got the orange sando and she thought it was really good and tastes like angel food cake :) Overall, amazing opening and recommend!
google avatar

Julie Ying X.

Yelp
I was in the area so came here for dessert after lunch. The bakery was cute and the staff's uniforms matched the bakery's interior design. There were a few indoor tables but pretty limited seating. They had fruit sandos, katsu sandos, egg salad sandos, cookies, cakes, and mochi doughnuts. Their fruit sandos had cake and not really white bread though. I ordered the raspberry and matcha mochi doughnuts (3 for $6). It was pretty pricey for just three Munchkin sized doughnuts. The mochi doughnuts didn't taste that fresh but the flavor was strong at least. It was nice to try but would not go out of my way to come here.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice location and cute window seats with afternoon sun. Tried 2 sandwiches. Like the katsu better. Strawberry is nice but not as special as I expected.

Yelp
Gluten-free bakery comes from the people of NamiNori, an excellent Japanese restaurant right next door. Was excited to try this because I love japanese anything. In general, yes this bakery is gluten free and yes you can taste it. The absolute highlight was their koji cheesecake, which was super dense, creamy, bold, and had a nice savory-sweetness to it that was super delicious. I also tried their Yuzu Langue de Chat; the creamy yuzu filling was really bright and delicious, had a nice tart/sourness to it that I love about yuzu. The biscuit itself was crispy, but became grainy texture-wise in my mouth so it was good but I won't be going back for it. Chicken Katsu Sando -- now I was super excited for this but this was the most disappointing. This was cold, the bread was not that soft, velvety, cloudlike texture of a good milk bread, and the breading was just wet. I'll have to return for their egg and strawberry sando, but they were sold out at the time of visit. I would recommend considering to increase their supply of these items if possible. Will update my review if and when I get a chance to try those!

Yelp
So first off- huge line. I know it just opened but the line is so long granted I came on a warm day on a weekend. I have heard the bakery goods completely selling out by midday. We actually waited in line for 1+ hours, why? Because we might actually hope to grab some goods. At the end we felt defeated and felt stupid for waiting so long to grab these bakery goods when they get sold out in front of our eyes while waiting in line. I feel like this place definitely needs a better system to tell people that there's a specific amount left, it will be sold out by the time you come in. L'Appartment 2F does that or at least warn people in line they might not get anything they want. Most people come here for the fruit sando. Why else would you come? So I feel like it's easy to put a limit to the amount of people waiting. In Japan they do that. Why not here, since it's a Japanese Bakery? Another thing that made me feel stupid was that I asked the cashier specifically so you only have 1 grape fruit sando left? She said yes just one. And someone else took the last orange fruit sando. I ended up allowing my friend to grab the last fruit sando as I ordered the matcha mochi donuts. Lo and behold I saw 5 more fruit sandos coming out right after I ordered it and I asked the cashier about it and she had NO SOLUTION. Typically a place that has a normal or decent service offer me to order one more for myself but there were no offers since lines were long and she just ended up not saying anything to me. I honestly am upset with the service here. - - - FOOD - - - Matcha mochi donuts They are crispy and has a cream inside (not matcha) but overall good. I don't understand why there isn't matcha inside and only powder on the outside. Grape fruit sando It's not really a sando but more like a cake. It literally just taste like Chinese Asian cake for 1 dollar at the Chinese bakery. Probably support your local Chinatown ones instead of coming here for these. I had hoped it was made with milk bread but it is NOT. Davelle is WAY better. I also can't believe the price of these things. $9 is too much for cake, whip cream and 5 grapes.... Tell me if I'm wrong. Koji basque cheesecake Creamy and rich but still light! Hojicha chocolate cake Really rich tea flavor with dark chocolate taste - - - DRINK - - - Matcha latte bubble tea It's good but not good enough to wait on a 1+ hour line. Melon soda Tastes just like Japan! This one I actually really liked! - - - CONCLUSION - - - I feel really upset that the sandos were sold out with no warning... the gluten free milk bread isn't milk bread purely because it's not made of milk. For me as a non gluten free person looking for real Japanese fruit sando i would love if they were to incorporate a regular milk bread. My friend said she would order the cakes again and the cheesecake is very good and I thought the pastries other than the sando was good however this entire experience has led a very bad taste in my mouth. I would have to wait a while until the hype dies down to ever go back.

Yelp
Second time here & it was just as good as I remember. The strawberry milky + matcha (with oat milk) is still one of the best beverages I've ever had. Also tried the raspberry donut holes this time, and they were INCREDIBLE; so flavorful - highly recommend!

Yelp
Interesting bakery selection with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of natural light. Got the chicken sando and mochi donut. Both were ok especially considering the sando is gluten free. Interesting trying at-least once.
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the desserts with my coworkers! The cheesecake was by far my favorite, the chocolate cake was super rich, the special pride fruit sando...the cream was SO good. They were friendly and the shop is really cute. I'd go again!
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
I'd rate Postcard three and a half stars. We shared the grape sandwich and the raspberry mochi doughnuts. Dessert sandwich was an interesting concept but it wasn't too different from just eating a slice of cake with your hands. The doughnuts were fried in an oil which made me nostalgic for the fried green tea ice cream from our neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Service was quick. Only about six-ish seats in the cafe.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
Cute shop, limited seating but cute design/layout. Food options were not bad, I was excited about the egg sando, it's good but incomparable to the egg sando from Japan. The coffee was really good though, totally recommend it.
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Chocolate chip cookie and strawberry sando were the better items. Really didn't like the shortbread cookie and the egg sando was fine but I've had better. A very cute spot but definitely overpriced.
google avatar

Yelp
The chicken Sando is to die for. The matcha latte is top notch. I'm so obsessed. The egg sando I wouldn't get again.

Yelp
Postcard is a charming, well-designed small store with vibrant colors and a cute post box. The indoor seating area is quite small and packed, making it a bit uncomfortable. The fruit cake is adorable and reminiscent of those in Tokyo. Surprisingly, the cake layer is more moist and nicely textured than its Japanese counterparts that I've tried. However, the combination of oranges with the sweet flavor was a bit odd, as the bitterness stands out. Despite this, I look forward to trying other flavors on my next visit.
google avatar

Christy M.

Yelp
Postcard is such a cute cafe to go with friends. However, be aware that seating is limited so finding a table for a large group may be difficult. Luckily, we were able to combine a couple tables and a few chairs together to seat our group of 6. A friend recommended I try one of the mochi donuts (they had matcha and raspberry options) so I got 3 of the matcha mochi donuts. They were perfectly crispy and sweet outside and chewy inside (hence the mochi). I also tried my friend's raspberry mochi donuts and was not disappointed. Their fruit milks were refreshing and delicious. If I go back again and wanted a matcha latte, I would get a strawberry matcha rather than the regular matcha latte because it had a little more sweetness and the strawberry flavor was delicious with the matcha. The regular matcha latte was not bad, but I wish I asked for a little bit of sweetener because it tasted like there wasn't any (and I like tasting matcha but in a matcha latte, I like slight sweetness).
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
I visited in the evening and Postcard still had many items available. The interior is very cute! It is a small shop with a few tables inside and a few tables outside. There were a few people ordering in front of me and the line moved quickly. I got the sesame miso chocolate chip cookie and the matcha and raspberry mochi donuts. The cookie was okay, but I have had better cookies before. The mochi donuts had a good flavor but the texture was not as chewy like mochi as I would have liked. Overall both were okay but I probably would not get them again.

Yelp
Ran in absolutely out-of-breath, dehydrated and perspiring at 10:30am on a Sunday morning. The bakery is a small one with a limited seating area, but luckily there weren't too many people at that hour. My celiac friend and I split: - egg salad sando: how can you go wrong with egg salad? Nothing bad to say here. The gf bread texture is more cakey than springy like a yeasted loaf, and I could taste the egg in the bread but it complimented the innards nicely. - chicken katsu sando: I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken. Maybe we were there more shortly after the katsu was constructed but there was still a definite crunch with each bit. The chicken was well flavored and super tender. I'm usually pretty anti chicken breast when I see one, but I was completely confused here because although the meat looked white, it tasted dark. Maybe I am open to change after all... - lemon cinnamon roll: the lemon aroma was spot on. It probably could be less sweet by a couple of notches, and the cake texture was rather dense, but overall it still satisfied! My friend and I were pretty full splitting two sando halves and the sweet (but our appetites were not raging). The prices seemed pretty reasonable especially for gf fare, but I need to try more sandos to calibarate. My celiac friend enjoyed the food but was not blown out of this world. I would still come back here with more celiacs!

Yelp
So happy to finally try this gluten free bakery! All the items I got were so good, definitely couldn't tell from other breads/cookies I've had. Favorite is the egg sando and cheesecake, really delicious! It's a cute small shop, and staff were great, friendly & attentive. Next time I really want to try the matcha strawberry drink, heard the quality is great & for matcha, that important. I'll be back again :)

Yelp
Really cute cafe in the west village! Came on a weekday around lunch time and was able to grab a seat with my friend. The staff were all so kind and gave good recommendations. The food and drinks were very aesthetic and delicious, although it was definitely very pricey.

Yelp
Came here after seeing all the videos of it and can safely say it is mostly for aesthetics. At $9 for a strawberry sando, it's not really a sando but a strawberry sponge cake. It would be better with milk bread and twice as much cream. Also ordered the sobacha which was pleasantly fragrant.

Yelp
I came here at 2:15 on a Saturday and there was about a 30 minute wait outside to get food to go, when we did get in at 2:45 most of the items were sold out. Maybe because they are newly open, but i was surprised more than half the items were already sold out when they stay open until 8. i wish they had posted something outside stating what was sold out because we wouldn't have waited. we got the cheesecake and the cookie, for being gluten free they were good!

Yelp
I was very excited to finally try this new bakery by the Nami Nori team. The interior is really cute - Wes Anderson vibes. It's small with some indoor seating and a couple of tables outside. I got there right before 10am on a Sunday, perfect time since it started getting busy soon after. I was told that things start selling out by 1pm on weekends. You have to consider that everything is gluten-free, so textures might be a little different. Overall, we enjoyed everything we tried, and I'd like to come back to try the Hojicha Chocolate Cake but I wouldn't necessarily get the ones I already tried again unless I were looking for GF treats.

Yelp
Short line on a Friday mid-day. I got a strawberry fruit sando and I thought it was pretty good. Although it is pricey, it's nice to try. Some people say that the sponge doesn't taste like anything and I can see that. I guess the strawberry and cream taste is supposed to be sweet enough to go with the sponge. There's a few seats inside but it's a pretty small shop.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I tried the egg salad, the chicken Katsu, the strawberry sando, the lemon roll, matcha soda, and the basque cheesecake. I wish I could've tried the lemon roll fresh cause it might've been a little stale trying it the next day, but EVERYTHING was delicious. I was so surprised and overwhelmed. All my non-gf folks did not know it was gluten free. It is so freeing to eat at a gf, nut-free establishment and have everything taste so good. The restaurant is a little cramped and it was hot (this past Saturday) so don't expect to stay. If I were to do it again, I would bring a blanket and get all the fixings for an afternoon tea and take it to Washington Square Park (or one of the cute closer ones) and sit down to eat. (Get my sandwiches, dessert, and tea from Postcard). Just want to say the service was amazing. The folks were so kind and pleasant.

Yelp
I was... dare I say... blown away?! As a gluten-free girlie I'm always on the hunt for a way to get my delicious carb fill without hurting the 'ol tum tum. A friend who is a huge fan of their (totally gluten free) restaurant next door, Nami Nori, sent me an Instagram post announcing Postcard. I looked and looked at the photos in disbelief. There's NO way they can recreate a light fluffy bread/cake for those sandos. Just NOT possible. But, dear readers, it was in fact possible. Even my two gluten-loving comrades were blown away by the sandos. They were just incredible. Reminded me of angel food cake! Nothing was too sweet. Just the right amount of sweetness, cream and lightness. We also tried the mocho donuts and YUM!! I loved the matcha but my dining partners preferred the raspberry. I will absolutely be coming back! So thrilled for this new spot. Oh, and, as you can tell from the photos this place is SO stinkin' cute.

Yelp
Amazing gluten free cafe! It's rare to find GF sandwiches like this (in fact, I've never seen anything like this before) so I knew I had to check it out immediately! The chicken katsu sandwich was delicious and the bread was so soft and moist it was hard to believe it was gluten free. I really loved the strawberry sando - the bread reminded me of angel sponge cake and perfectly complemented with whipped cream and strawberries. A light but delicious treat! I also really enjoyed the koji cheesecake. The flavor was more savory than typical cheesecake and the texture was so smooth and velvety. I also enjoyed the strawberry milk with hojicha and boba. The perfect combination! Can't wait to come back for more!

Yelp
I was grabbing lunch at nami nori and saw they opened a cafe right next door and had to try it! I grabbed a strawberry sando and some matcha mochi donut holes. The sando is similar to Chinese bakery fruit cakes not really a milk bread type of sando. The mochi donuts were my favorite. It's chewy, not too sweet, just an overall good dessert. I'm obsessed with their packaging. They also offer boba, I'll def be coming back to try it!

Yelp
Yummiest ALL GF Japanese pastries and sandwiches. The strawberry Sando is a dream- tastes just like a Lebanese"Fraisier " delicious white cake, with homemade cream and strawberries- unlike the usual heavy American cakes. The egg sando was very tasty, as was the sesame miso cookie and hojicha chocolate cake. Excellent matcha latte and black tea to go along with all the goodies Very friendly staff

Yelp
Could be me, but was definitely not impressed. Long lines, cramped seating, items running out, food average at best, drinks okay.
