Yelp
At first, I thought this was a restaurant inside of a karaoke bar. I'm glad I looked through some of the awesome reviews, which told me the restaurant is detached and serves great food.
The interior is definitely.. interesting. They have everything from Dia de los Muertos decor, Christmas decorations, Avengers posters, and a "Keep Calm and Say I Do" sign on the bathroom door. The booths are cushy and nice, and have buttons to call your server over if you need. Most of the interior has wood paneling and lights above. There's a slight "Squid Games" theme worked in, too.
The menu is pretty friendly to people who aren't familiar with Korean food, but for those who love it - you're going to love some of the options. There's bulgogi pizza, chicken bulgogi, bulgogi tacos, seafood stew, tofu stew, popcorn chicken, potato croquettes, typical American appetizers.. it's not a small menu by any means. Most of the menu is meant to be family style.
We asked the server (Kaytus) if the chicken is white meat. He had a little trouble understanding but once we reworded, he let us know the popcorn chicken is. We ordered half soy garlic, half sweet mild. It came with a shredded cabbage/lettuce salad, and you could pick coleslaw dressing or thousand island. The salad is especially good if you order spicy sauce to cool down. The chicken was crispy and so, so good. The portion is absolutely huge for one person. I went in so hungry and still could not finish my food. For $15.99, it is such a good deal.
Unfortunately, you can't try the sauces beforehand, but I doubt anyone on earth would dislike the soy garlic. It is perfect. It's sweet, garlicky, and addictive. I'd compare it to a mild soy sauce glaze. I didn't care for the sweet mild, but it wasn't bad at all. It was similar to gochujang, but with sweetness added and less spice. I think so many people would love this option.
We ordered a side of corn cheese and calamari. The squid is cut into an interesting "crown" type shape. The appetizers seem to be priced and portioned for family style eating. We paid $10 for the corn cheese and it was a large portion, but if you really love it, it can work for just two people. It is very good, and standard for most Korean BBQ places. The calamari was a little bit firm and overcooked, but our table liked it a lot.
The side dishes here are super great too. They are standard for the most part, with some coleslaw added for something unique. The japchae was easily everyone's favorite. It was so good we asked for another bowl.
The rest of the group ordered teriyaki wings, tofu stew, and a chicken feet dish. The wings were great, but one party member felt the tofu stew was lacking in flavor. The chicken feet were not whole, but chopped up and had bones in them. The person who ordered it was particularly upset because the menu stated it was boneless and she kept biting into bones. She said the flavor was fine. It was mixed with a spicy red sauce and some vegetables.
Our server Kaytus was really accommodating and kind. He asked if we had questions or needed suggestions a few times, and overall we felt really welcomed and attended to with his service. I also made sure to check in on Yelp to get my free soda coupon. He knew exactly what coupon I meant and made the process easy.
The food itself is wonderful and something different than AYCE. The service was just a cherry on top of a great experience at Q Bistro. I hope they keep prices reasonable and the great staff, because we will be back!
