Qué Bárbaro at Level 8 is a vibrant South American grill haven in DTLA, serving fire-kissed meats, fresh ceviche, and bold cocktails.
"Ray Garcia’s South American-inflected grill restaurant stands as the most everyday but still date night-worthy destination inside Level 8, an impressive nightlife and eating spot at the AC/Moxy hotel complex just across from Crypto.com Arena. Here, Garcia starts the meal with a skillet of molten cheese and tomato, finishing with grilled picanha and shrimp. Most larger tables will want to order the asado, a shareable platter of various wood-fired cuts like morcilla, sweatbreads, and bone-in short rib. The cocktails are stellar too, like a pineapple and turmeric number made with mezcal." - Matthew Kang
"South American-style grilled meats are on full display at Qué Bárbaro, a splashy opening from chef Ray Garcia tucked into Level 8, a multi-restaurant and cocktail space on the eighth floor of the AC/Moxy Hotels in Downtown. Garcia cooks an Argentine-inspired meal with empanadas and provoleta to start, meandering into wood-grilled steaks or the shareable Asado, sporting sausages, vegetables, and grilled short ribs. With over-the-top interior styling and pool vibes coming from Golden Hour lounge outside, Qué Bárbaro feels like a dash of Vegas right here in Los Angeles." - Matthew Kang, Mona Holmes
"Dining at Qué Bárbaro, a huge South American steakhouse inside the Level 8 development, is a Vegas-adjacent experience. To get in, you'll be escorted down a hallway of pulsing psychedelic lights and up to a jungle-like dining room on the eighth floor of the Moxy DTLA. Expect tropical greenery hanging from the ceiling, an open-flame grill shooting embers into the air, and a pool deck with a bar shaped like a giant carousel. The place is fun in a ridiculous way, with food that’s genuinely recommendable. Get some strong drinks and big platters of pollo a la brasa, prime beef tenderloin, and bone-in short rib. When dinner starts to wind down, head outside to the pool deck for continued extracurriculars." - Brant Cox
"This upscale South American spot lives inside Level 8, the huge nightlife amusement park in DTLA where you can watch a lucha libre fight at a bar that looks like a church and eat beef cigars in a speakeasy while acrobats twirl above you. But this spot is by far the least ridiculous of the Level 8 bunch. Qué Bárbaro serves a menu that’s a little Peruvian, a little Brazilian, but mostly built on delicious Argentinian BBQ. Bring a group and split bone-in short rib and fat-capped picanhas with rosy-pink centers as an open-flame grill shoots embers into the air. All of it will help tune out the pulsing psychedelic music at the poolside bar next door. " - Sylvio Martins
"Already Level 8 has opened Garcia’s full restaurant Qué Bárbaro, which grills meats and more South American style in a lush dining room." - Matthew Kang
