Roberta’s slice shop in Bushwick serves up foldable thin-crust pies with inventive toppings like spicy ’nduja and creamy stracciatella, perfect for on-the-go.
"We’re not sure why it took them so long, but Bushwick’s most famous pizza export, Roberta’s, finally opened a slice shop. Located on the same block, R.Slice is just as good as Roberta’s, but also totally different. They’ve ditched their neapolitan pies for a chewy New York-style crust you can eat while walking between bars. The cheese and pepperoni are solid, but we’d go with the Fire & Ice, a genius combination of spicy ‘nduja and sweet-ish stracciatella inspired by a dish at their sister wine bar, Foul Witch. North Bushwick’s been missing a high-quality slice shop for awhile, and now it has one of the best in Brooklyn." - will hartman, willa moore, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim
"Who knew what this city needed was another Roberta’s Pizza? This small slice shop opened next door to the original Roberta’s in Bushwick, selling plain and specialty pies. There’s a luxurious clam pizza with garlic, cheese, and red chiles, and a slice topped with cold stracciatella and ’nduja called Fire and Ice." - Luke Fortney, Eater Staff
"Roberta’s, the restaurant that turned Bushwick into a pizza power player, has moved up in the world. This second location, near Penn Station, has a second, full-service Roberta's on the roof, and an outpost of their to-go slice shop, R.Slice, tucked underneath. You won’t find slices like these anywhere in the vicinity—especially the Fire & Ice, which is topped with a tingly mixture of nduja, stracciatella, chili oil, and basil. Even if you just want a plain cheese or pepperoni, it’s worth seeking out these foldable NYC slices for their perfect sourdough crusts. There are a couple of very cramped bar seats inside, but plenty of tables, and tree shade, on the breezy plaza outside. You can also get whole pies—New York or Roberta’s tried-and-true Neapolitans—to-go. Food Rundown photo credit: Kate Previte Fire & Ice The Fire & Ice pizza is named after an appetizer of stretchy stracciatella and dollops of nduja at Roberta’s sister restaurant Foul Witch. It’s even better as a slice. The cheese is the cooling “ice” spread over the pie, and the sausage and chili oil bring the heat. Onion & Chive Too many onions? Never enough. We like that these onions are only slightly sweet—this is still a very savory slice. Cheese A perfect cheese slice with a crackly yet still chewy crust." - Neha Talreja
"Things that New Yorkers have been asking for for a long time: more transparency around subway delays, sunny Saturday afternoons, and a slice shop from Roberta’s. We can’t say much about the first two, but R Slice Pizza now exists, right next door to the original Bushwick pizza haven. You can get classic slices, some with a funky Roberta’s twist, and a porchetta sandwich on focaccia." - will hartman
"A slice shop by Roberta’s Pizza offering plain slices at $4 with thin crust and fantastic toppings such as tart tomato sauce, molten mozzarella, Parmesan, and basil leaves." - Eater Staff
