R Slice Review - Bushwick - New York - The Infatuation

"Roberta’s has been Bushwick’s best pizza party since 2008, and they’ve finally filled the area’s glaring slice-shop hole with a quality option. Walk up the same block, past the gorilla mural, and into the bakery with a “to-go” sign outside. Unlike the Neapolitan pies at the original, R.Slice does a thin, chewy sourdough crust that folds without getting floppy—making it a lot easier to eat while standing at their one high-top table, or while walking back to a bar. (There are also a couple of cafe tables inside.) They currently have only three types of pizza, and a sandwich—but all of them are great, and we’ll keep coming back between bar-hopping in the neighborhood. Food Rundown photo credit: Kate Previte Fire & Ice This is the only specialty slice in the shop, but they make it count. It’s the pizza version of the Fire & Ice dish at Roberta’s wine bar offshoot, Foul Witch—a genius combo of sweet-ish, stretchy stracciatella cheese, and fiery pockets of grease from the ‘nduja, which basically turns into a chili oil as it melts. Each slice costs $6, and you should get two. photo credit: Kate Previte Cheese R.Slice makes their own mozzarella, and they’re very generous with it. This is one of the cheesiest cheese slices we’ve had in north Brooklyn. photo credit: Kate Previte Pepperoni Super thin with baby ’roni cups, and a bright tomato sauce that’s more tart than sweet—just the way we like it. photo credit: R.Slice Porchetta Sandwich Don’t sleep on this porchetta sandwich—especially because they plan to change their sandwich options regularly. It’s got big chunks of juicy roasted pork with crispy skin, in between two pieces of focaccia with a super mild salsa verde to top it off. Getting it toasted is a must." - Neha Talreja
