We were excited to see a fine dining option come to Grand Prairie, especially for a special occasion like a birthday dinner. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations.
We had made reservations in advance, which we quickly realized was necessary due to the restaurant's small size. Upon arrival, we were surprised that it took a few minutes to be greeted, even though the restaurant wasn't yet busy.
The location near Epic Central is convenient, and the restaurant has a modern aesthetic. However, the atmosphere felt somewhat cold and uninviting, and the seating was uncomfortably rigid, which detracted from the overall experience.
The saving was the food, pleasant but not 5 star quality.
Here are the items we ordered:
Bruschetta: the bread was a little burnt but the tomatoes were seasoned well and the balsamic vinegar was a good portion.
Focaccia: bread was delicious but could barely taste the cheese
Polpette: the meatballs were extremely salty
Fried squash blossom: delicious but was served with bread and was good on its own, could have been better with a cracker
Lobster Ravioli: The best dish we tried, disappointed not served with bread as the sauce was delicious and plentiful
Skirt steak: the sauce was delicious but ordered medium and was over cooked and barely pink
Blue crab pasta: pasta was cooked al dente and the crab was overpowering
Dessert: pistachio cake was dark chocolate
Tiramisu: cooked to perfection
The service is as good but not great, a few times we had to ask for things multiple times, and took awhile to get servers attention at times.
Given the price point, we expected a higher level of service--it wasn't terrible, but it didn't quite meet expectations.
