Rooted Rotisserie - Review - Hollins Market - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"Rooted Rotisserie has gotten a lot of hype for their chicken. So, yes, getting a reservation can require some forward thinking, but there’s also plenty of bar seating for walk-ins. More importantly, the lip-tingling wings with a spicy and sweet rub served with housemade ranch and the moist and well-seasoned rotisserie chicken are worth any hassle. It’s not all poultry here either—the biggest fungi skeptic we know loves the smoked mushroom bowl, sides like sweet potato puree are worth exploring, and the daily-changing desserts are necessary to save room for. The space itself has warm lighting, family photos on the wall, and India.Arie and Erykah Badu bumping through the speakers. photo credit: Marlayna Demond photo credit: Marlayna Demond photo credit: Marlayna Demond photo credit: Marlayna Demond photo credit: Marlayna Demond Pause Unmute RESERVE A TABLE" - Michele Berry

Baltimore Is Making a Comeback—With Sleek Design Hotels and Bold New Dining

"A neighborhood rotisserie opened in 2023 by a couple who pivoted from pandemic-era meal-kit sales to a restaurant inspired by a rustic Paris market; the focused menu executes a narrow range of dishes very well—go for the rotisserie chicken and stay for the double-cut pork chop." - Simon Willis Simon Willis Simon Willis is a contributing writer for Travel + Leisure. I've wanted to try this place out for a long time and finally got the chance. The servers were friendly, but it was difficult to hear them since the music was so loud. It was a very hot day, and they only had a couple of fans running. We ordered a couple of drinks which we felt were very expensive for what was served. However, the cocktail tasted really good. We ordered wings for our appetizer. I'm not sure if the sauce went with the wings. It didn't make it taste better because the chicken was very bland. We then ordered the bronzino and duck gumbo. Both dishes were delicious. The fish was well fried, leaving the meat juicy and tender. The duck was the main star of the gumbo. It was really good. However, the gumbo itself was rather salty. If I did go back, it would definitely be for the duck. Hopefully, they'll make another duck dish without the gumbo.

So I didn’t post my review on carryout but I said let me try it in person needless to say both let me down. The food is overwhelming drenched in oil like everything my potato was old in the center and fish needed at least salt just blah. See photos it looks good but not a winner for me. They were not really busy but the server took more than 15 minutes to greet the table and 2 tables that were seated way after mine were served first not sure of kitchen system. For the price point I would expect food and service to be elevated.

Google
Wonderful ambiance and great service. The rotisserie chicken is incredible and the chicken breast in particular was one of the best I’ve ever had. The charred shrimp appetizer and the brussel sprouts were also delicious. We had a wonderful dessert as well that I can’t remember the name of. This is a Baltimore gem and should definitely be on the top of your list if you live in the area.

Google
We had a great experience at Rooted Rotisserie! The wine selection was surprisingly good and paired well with the meal. The chicken breast was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned—definitely a standout. We opted for the plain fries, which tasted a lot like McDonald's fries in the best way: crispy, salty, and satisfying. We selected the plain fries as they were the only other side not topped or cooked with butter or cheese, alongside the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were also a hit—flavorful and roasted just right. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Google
Sensational food! Amazing resturant! Everything was delicious. I had the half chicken, fried Brussel sprouts, and char grilled shrimp! I would give 6 stars if I could, especially for the shrimp which was amazing 👏🏾 I highly recommend this place and I plan to make it a priority to return here again soon.

Google
Loved the decor The restaurant is a whole vibe. Food was delicious. Limited menu but what's on the menu is perfected especially the Brussel sprouts. Charred shrimp was exceptional along with the wings. Food seasoned very well. The lemonade was refreshing. A must try.

Had dinner here last night for my birthday and it was amazing! We made reservations and were seated as soon as we walked in. The ambiance and service was excellent! Our food was delicious we had the 1/2 chicken, Mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. The portions were good and the pricing was as well. We met the owner and she was so humble and sweet! Highly recommend. We were visiting from NY ♥️

Google
Me and my wife ordered the gumbo. Do not do this if you have ever had traditional gumbo because it is not that at all which was shocking and unexpected and we was taken aback by it and didn't enjoy it. The atmosphere was kinda loud but the wait staff was great. Over all I'd say that dish they call gumbo should be rebranded to something else. If you are looking for something alittle different you might try this places.

Yelp
Rooted has been on my list ever since I had it recommended to me almost a year ago. We finally found the opportunity to go, so I made a reservation (highly recommend doing this if you want to get a table). It's a small, intimate space. The service was impeccable throughout the meal and the food was equally excellent. Funny enough, though we came for the rotisserie chicken our favorite dishes ended up being the sides. The Mac and cheese, potatoes, and brussels sprouts were all standouts. That isn't to say that the chicken was bad, because it was delicious. The sides just stole the show! The mushroom bowl was also a great combination of flavors. You definitely get great value, both in the quality and quantity of food and the reasonable prices. Can't wait to come back and show off this gem to any and all visitors to Baltimore.

Yelp
This is certainly one of the best restaurants in Baltimore! Whole Roast Chicken--PERFECT. The best roast chicken you'll have. We tried all 4 dipping sauces, and everyone agreed the White Truffle Aioli was the best Duck Confit Gumbo--full of flavor, duck was perfect Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts--gobbled them up Sweet Potato Puree--the oat crumble on top added great texture Mac and Cheese--made with 3 cheeses. Delicious We also ordered the drink specials, and both were tasty. The soursop lemonade is especially delicious! FYI, the big plates switch out (other than the chicken), so if you see a menu you like, jump on it!

Yelp
Love this place for its liveliness, hospitality, music... and did I mention food? I've been here three times, as this is where I bring my special folks to celebrate their birthdays. The space itself appears to be a renovated house with a simple clean design, very hip spot with a mix of nouveau soul, Afro beat and world music that gets you in the mood for a chill evening of good dining. Staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating, definitely helpful with different selections featured. But the food is what it's about. On all three visits, we've enjoyed the rotisserie chicken, both succulent and crispy. Definitely a hit. The Mac and cheese is dense and cheesy, maybe not as flavorful as expected, but good. On all three visits, we've gotten the braised cabbage which although flavorful, has been either perfectly al dente or somewhat mushy. Brussels sprouts are an excellent choice, as are the truffle fries and the loaded baked potato. Definitely planning a solo trip one evening to chill at the bar with the mushroom bowl.

Yelp
The service was TOP TIER. I have to say that first. Here's why I say this: because of their limited hours, it's hard to get into. Everyone had a reservation because they knew lol I was just operating on vibes. And even then, they fit me into the bar. I wouldn't try it again though haha. I'll get a reservation. Even with a relatively full house, they were attentive and pleasant. If you're gluten free, there's not a ton of choices but they do work with you. In fact, when they ask for your order they also ask if you have any allergies or food concerns. I ordered the sparkling water with the half chicken and the baked potato, but the fixings on the side. I asked the waitress what sauce she usually gets and she suggested getting the white truffle aïoli with the pepper sauce. She did NOT steer me wrong. The half chicken was great and I liked that I was able to customize my potato. My only critique is that the plates were too small and they should give you automatically two sauces for the chicken. Anyway, I've told all my friends about it. We'll be back and I will be getting the house-made peach tea next time.

Yelp
The space is well decorated. It felt like a well light wine cellar. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. My name was on a cute placard on the reserved table which I thought was a cool personal touch. Our server was swift and attentive. Our water glasses were consistently filled by the wait staff. Our server provided great suggestions for our entrees. I ordered the peach tea. It was beautifully brewed tea with a sweet peach puree at the bottom. I enjoyed it very much. We tried the crab dip. I was a bit disappointed that it did not come in the broiche bowl that was on the menu but the flavor and amount of sweet crab made up for it. I got the mushroom bowl as my entree and it did not disappoint. It was a medley of flavors. I would love to return some day to try the rotisserie chicken and truffle fries.

Yelp
Walked in for a solo dinner on a Friday evening. I didn't have a reservation but because I got there early I was able to get a table. The service was great. Everyone was attentive but not overbearing. The food was delicious. The chicken was excellent but to me, those Brussel sprouts were the star of the show. I also loved the presentation of the tea. So good.

Yelp
I was taken to Rooted in Baltimore for an early birthday dinner . Just some simple housekeeping for Rooted. First it opens at 4pm.and closes at 9pm. Secondly Its also a BYOB for only wine and beer. They do not serve liquor. Third you will need to make a reservation. For the appetizer i ordered the L.I.B chicken wings. They were seasoned and the homemade ranch topped it off. Then ordered a mess of food for the table (Duck Confit Gumbo, Branzino, Pepper Steak and Half Chicken with Mac and Cheese on the side). The fried orka that goes in the gumbo is chef's kiss! For beverages we has the Pineapple Lemonade and dessert was the key lime pie with the cookie like crust. When I left my stomach was hurting because I ate so much I was miserable. Lastly it is reasonable priced, has a good laid back vibe and black owned. Its right across from Hollen Market.

Yelp
Rooted Rotisserie is rooted in love and great home cooking. The space feels like you're being dropped off at your cool Auntie's house, you know the one! The ambiance is warming, the music was vibey, our server was engaged and involved in our dinner choices. My recommendation was the sweet potato puree, a dish you could eat morning, noon, or night! You can just taste the richness, chef's kiss! As a hopeful vegetarian, I ordered the mushroom bowl and whole mouth-watering, I was surprised at the tartness of the balsamic glaze, and wished it was either a bit sweetened/not as tangy. My best friend ordered the duck confit gumbo and ranted with "mmm"s and "wow"s with several 1st bites. It's safe to say we both thoroughly enjoyed our dishes and whatever wasn't captured in pics, was captured in our foodie hearts. Bravo RR!

Yelp
This was my first time here. Upon entering I was greeted with a friendly smile and welcome. The vibe was relaxed and cozy. The restaurant and the bathroom were very clean. I ordered the wings for my appetizer and they were a little spicy but good. For my entree I ordered the rotisserie chicken, cabbage, Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes (not pictured). The cabbage and Mac and cheese were my favorite. When ordering the sides please note that some of the sides are sharable. Definitely try this place out... you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This place had been on my list for a while. I went on a Friday night without a reservation and was told we could sit at the bar or wait for a table. We chose to sit at the bar and got a drink. The bartender, Bre (I believe that was her name), was amazing and so welcoming. Her vibe was so great that we decided to stay at the bar for our meal. She walked us through the menu and made great suggestions. We ended up ordering so much food--the half chicken, duck gumbo, mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and sweet potato. When I say everything was amazing--I mean it! I was a little nervous about the mac and cheese since it wasn't baked, but it was seasoned so well and tasted incredible. The chicken was so moist, and I loved the sauces that came with it. The duck gumbo was deconstructed, which allows you to pick how much gravy you want with tour rice. Hands down, my favorites were the Brussels sprouts and the mac and cheese! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back. I'm already looking forward to my leftovers!

Yelp
Me and my dad went to rooted rotisserie on a Friday night. We got spots right outside of the door and pay to park was free at that time. We were greeted as soon as we came and were politely sat at our table right away. We sat at the table right in front of the food coming out and my dad LOVED that for some reason. The music was good and conversational tone. My dad and I destroyed the wings. They were really flavorful and tender. The dipping sauce was even better. Both my dad and I got the duck gumbo. It was delicious. The duck was super tender. The fried okra was surprisingly lightly fried but dangerously delicious. The sweet potato mash was superb. Sweet potato pie in a nice ceramic dish hit the spot for sure but don't get it if you don't understand what puree means. My dad paid so I can't comment on price. I felt well taken care of and the service was great. I would go again for sure.

Yelp
My foodie friends were in town from another state and wanted to try out Rooted Rotisserie from all the social media reviews we had been seeing. It was worth the hype. We came during a weekday and before we sat, we saw that everyone had the same exact drink or water. The hostess then tells us it's a special lemonade because they don't serve alcohol. We went around the corner to a walkable store to pick up a bottle of wine to share. I ordered the Lib wings and parmesan truffled frites, while my friends ordered the mac & cheese, pan-roasted salmon, and duck confit gumbo. We all shared and loved everything except the macaroni. We agreed that it just needed to be baked a little more. Other then that, I would return because the spice on those wings were amazing and the fries I can eat all to myself with the truffle aioli sauce.

Yelp
Food was excellent because it was fresh and well cooked. I did have the rotisserie chicken. I loved the olive oil on top. A friend and myself shared the sides which were all good . The Brussels were hitting and holding. I bought my own bottle because we read they did not sell wine. It turned out that had changed. I bought a glass of white wine which was okay. The wine list was limited, my only criticism. The service was good. Ambience was very homey, cute and comfortable. I hope to return to try another dish such as the duck gumbo.. The restaurant is across from Hollins Market. I love family owned businesses. Thanks to the helpful employee who returned my bottle (byob) that I forgot on the floor. This is a spot that's good for groups and families.

Yelp
I wish there were 10 stars bc this place is amazing! It's a small quaint restaurant. The service was great but let me get into the food! Every single dish was hot, seasoned to perfection and absolutely delicious! I warmed up the leftover duck at home and it was even better the next day! The cabbage is my favorite side dish. Do yourself a favor and try out this restaurant! It's best to make a reservation on the weekends or sit at the bar during the week. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
We made a reservation for a Saturday evening. We were greeted so pleasantly at the door and seated right away. This is a BYOB (beer, wine, champagne, no hard liquor) establishment so we came prepared with our drinks. Our server brought us over ice in a bucket to chill our beverages. They make fresh lemonade in house and the flavors change periodically. That night it was a pineapple lemonade. It was refreshing and delicious. We ordered: Duck Confit Gumbo - Confit duck leg, confit potates, gumbo, fried okra. This dish usually comes with greens but it was served with cabbage this particular evening. The flavors were robust, rich, the duck was tender, and the meat fell off the bone. Pan Roasted Salmon - Corn succotash, whole grain mustard Creme Fraiche, kale caesar, shaved parmesan. This salmon was pan roasted to perfection. It was moist, jam packed with flavor and the corn succotash with the mustard crème fraiche was the perfect addition. The service was simply impeccable. The ambiance was clean, minimalist, and tranquil. Lemon Custard - it was actually like nothing I ever had before. It was creamy not over powered with lemon flavor just. Smooth and rich. Key Lime Pie - it was everything key lime pie should be. The perfect notes of sweet creamy and the crust added the texture to bring this dessert together.

Yelp
After seeing a viral video, I knew I wanted to experience Rooted Rottisserie for myself. I made a reservation online and waited for the date of my visit. As soon as we parked, we were greeted by music. Following the music, we found the restaurant nestled next to another viral sensation. Walking in, we were greeted by the hostess and led to our reserved table. Looking over the menu, I was so excited that my tablemates had to stop me from ordering the entire menu. We settled on charred shrimp and brussel sprouts as our appetizers. I ordered the duck confit gumbo. My friends ordered rotisserie chicken (half) and pan-roasted salmon. Everything was delicious. The charred shrimp was perfectly charred and tasty. The Brussels sprouts also had the perfect amount of crispness and zest. The gumbo was a medley of tastes with bits of fried okra, sausage, and greens. The rotisserie chicken and the salmon were succulent. The salmon was the star at our table and the table next to us. Perfectly cooked, it was tender and delicious. The bed of succotash and creme fraiche were perfect compliments and received raves from my friends and the people next to us. The food, music, service, and atmosphere make Rooted Rotisserie a stellar experience.

Yelp
My partner in and I came in to celebrate our anniversary! Rooted Rotisserie is a perfect place for date night. It's small, so reservations are recommended. They are also BYOB. This service started slow. We sat upon arrival and waited for about 15 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted water/drinks. Our drinks came just before the food. That's pretty much my only complaint regarding service, but that is also why I'd give 4.5 stars over a full 5. We ordered a plethora of items from the menu. My favorites were the Charred Shrimp and the Confit Potatoes (vegan). I was not a fan of the Trois Fromage because it was a bit loose. I also ordered the Mushroom Bowl which is vegan. I thought this was a good option to have. Pro tip: If you are not vegan, put the truffle aioli on top.

Yelp
So me & the Mrs. Went out for date night & ended up at Rooted Rotisserie. My wife made reservations so we didn't have to wait but all of 2 minutes, which was a huge plus cause it was like 3 couples on dates as well when we walked in. But to their credit all of them were seated rather quickly as well. Our waitress was really friendly & nice so that was a huge plus. We started out with some appetizers I had the wings & she went with the shrimp. Of course we split them & to my surprise both of them were delicious had me about to order seconds. She went with the half a rotisserie chicken & Brussels sprouts for her dinner. While I had the burger & fries. The food took a little minute to come out which was fine because it was a little packed. But it wasn't an issue cause of the nice setting there we just sat talked until the food came. My burger was really good so good that I didn't even bother to try her chicken. But the mood setter was certainly the Pineapple lemonade it was amazing. Overall it was a great date night but unfortunately the only hiccup we had that stopped me from giving this review a 5 star was her brussel sprouts took forever to come out. She had to end up eating most of her meal using my fries as her side which is completely unacceptable. But the hostess was nice enough to apologize & take them off of the bill. So besides that little slip up Rooted Rotisserie was an absolute pleasure & added to our to return list

Yelp
I came here form seeing the various reviews everywhere. The space is really cute and calming. The service was really really excellent. The food rating ranged everywhere for me. We were provided with samples of two juices a tropical punch and a mango/sour sup mix. We got a craft of the tropical punch and it was extremely sweet. I mixed a half of glass of that with almost another cup and half of water to not make it so sweet. The shrimp appetizer was really good. We got several pieces of jumbo shrimp. The chicken wings were surprisingly underwhelming for the amount of seasoning on them. They were cooked well and the ranch sauce it came was pretty decent. The steak and peppers: the tumeric rice was good, the peppers were good, the steak was tender. The flavors were underwhelming. Rotisserie chicken: super moist and buttery. It was good with the gravy side sauce we ordered. By itself, the flavors again were underwhelming. I did not any a spicy sauce but the spiciest sauce they had was not even a spice level of 1 to me. The mushroom plate: this was by far my favorite dish. I loved the mix of the different flavors and textures of the mushroom, rice, and brussel sprouts. The only thing I'd change is a little less balsamic glaze or more rice to balance the glaze. Mac&cheese: was really good. Nice size, very creamy, and loved the bread crumbs on it. Collard greens-they were very salty.

Yelp
This restaurant is up and coming, so I'm here to encourage a visits! The quaint atmosphere adds an intimate vibe to your visit. Though the restaurant serves beverages, they have a BYOB option which is pretty unique. The service was spectacular! 11/10. Our starters, the charred shrimp and wings were very flavorful. I wanted to lick the plate of the shrimp. Around the table, my friends were impressed with their meals. We had fish, pepper steak, the signature rotisserie chicken, and the smoked mushroom bowl. The food was good, however it wasn't as uniquely tasting as I thought it would be. Unfortunately, the rotisserie chicken was standard. I will highlight, the unity each ingredient had on each dish, but the flavor profile wasn't there . I would still return to try others
google avatar

Sabrina S.

Yelp
I think my expectations were high based on the Keith Lee review. In all fairness, the service was excellent. You have to make a reservation weeks in advance, but they do take good care of you. It's a cute, intimate spot so it's great for small or private dinners, not so much for large parties. It's also BYOB so if you enjoy a drink with dinner, remember to bring a bottle. As far as the food: LIB Wings 7/10 - The wings are good but they didn't have any standout flavors. The pepper sauce it comes with is cool but it has a salsa-like consistency? But the homemade ranch was bussing!!!!!!!!!!!! Tinned Fish 10/10 - It's served with their own ground mustard and homemade pickles, both are delicious! The fish itself tasted high quality so I was pleasantly surprised. Rotisserie Chicken 100/10 - It's the star of the show! Best rotisserie chicken I've ever had. I recommend having it with the aioli and or glaze. Fries 8/10 - Good fries, nothing special. But they are really good with the aioli! Mushroom Bowl 6/10 - Too heavy on the balsamic vinegar and the rice was "shelly". Skip it.

Yelp
Rooted Rotisserie definitely deserves all the hype! My visit was excellent from beginning to end. I was seated at a 4 top with 2 friends in the absolutely beautiful dining area. Whoever did the interior design in there is very talented. When the waitress came to take our drink orders, she made my day by listing soursop as an available juice. Of course I went with that, as it's heavenly. For my main, I went with the burger and it was amazing when it came out. So very well seasoned, the fries too. My only issue is I wasn't able to finish all the food but there wasn't enough left worth taking home with me.

Naseem T.

Yelp
I'd been looking forward to trying Rooted for a while and was happy to check it out with a friend recently. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm and the service was friendly. We tried the rotisserie chicken with the very dill-forward homemade ranch which was not only visually appealing but juicy and tasty, the mac and cheese (often disappointing at restaurants, but rooted's version was creamy and flavorful), the Brussels (underwhelming, and reminiscent of balsamic more than any other flavor), and the pepper steak, which looked amazing, but was unfortunately disappointing. I love short ribs, and the presentation on this dish was gorgeous, served with yellow rice and sautéed peppers and onion, it was tender but had an overwhelmingly vinegary flavor which I found off putting and made it difficult to eat more than a few bites. I'm not sure what rendition of pepper steak this was intended to be, so it's entirely possible that this is exactly how it should taste, and it just wasn't for me. I found the sides to be very generous portions and appreciated that. One of our servers also offered us a sample to taste after we inquired what the drink of the day was-a soursop lemonade, and it was delicious! Very refreshing, not overly sweet. I will definitely return to give them another try and wish them all the busy nights they can handle!

Yelp
Yeah Keith Lee did his big one on reviewing this spot! My boyfriend and I made a reservation which was the best idea because they are busy and you will wait an hour depending on the time you go. The inside is spacious and they have bar seating and table seating! The staff is so attentive and kind which made the experience even better. BUT THE FOOD oh my goodness it's the best food I have ever had at a restaurant in a while ! I already want to go back

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful and super cute for a date night. It looks rough on the outside but is very nice within. The service is great and the servers are welcoming. It can be inconsistent though. For instance, our waitress offered the folks to the right of us samples of the mango and soursop lemonade when they sat down. But she didn't remember to ask us until well into our meal. The food was good but not great. It's one of those places that, if someone asked if I wanted to go, I may suggest somewhere else but not be mad if we ended up there. The shrimp was good but I would suggest not grilling so much of the juice out of the lemon because the shrimp actually needs the extra kick. For the salmon dish, it was good and the salmon was perfectly cooked. My impression was that I would have made it at home--but I had to get it without the cream sauce so that may have compromised the dish. The fries were basic--did the job. The Brussels sprouts were our favorite. My friend had the half chicken and she liked the garlic sauce more than the spicy sauce.

Yelp
Last night, my mother and I dined in Baltimore's historic Hollins Market neighborhood, right next to a bustling street pop-up restaurant: Oh Honey on the Bay serving fried fish with a line down the street from 7 pm until 9:30 pm. Chef Joseph Burton knocked it out of the park. From the beginning, the staff was welcoming and inviting. My first name was even hand-written on a nameplate at our table. The ambiance was warm and cozy, setting the perfect atmosphere for our meal with black excellence all around me. We were seated right next to the servers food pickup, so we got to see all of the entrees. The rotisserie chicken, mac n cheese, fries and beef all looked AMAZING. My mom loved the salmon, and I ordered the duck. We both enjoyed the mussels, which were priced at $14 and served in a charming tin can, with extra bread for $3. Although the duck took a bit longer to arrive, the sauce made it worth the wait. The salmon was moist and perfectly cooked. To top it all off, the lemon cream custard for dessert was amazing. Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience, and I can't wait to return.

Olakunle O.

Yelp
This place is incredible! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu while ambiance is cozy and inviting. Fun fact: The large plates change every 6-8 weeks while the chicken remains on the menu year-round. That means that if you see a large dish which appeals to you, grab it because you may not see it again. I had the half chicken which was not overwhelmingly seasoned but had a refreshing hint of rosemary. The smoked mushroom bowl was a highlight. The black garlic dressing and balsamic glaze were perfection. I will undoubtedly return! 9.5/10

Yelp
Everything was delicious!!! We had the rotisserie chicken, duck gumbo, brussel sprouts, and truffle fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. You're allowed to bring your own wine and for the fine dining experience the server still pours it for you and refills your glass. Go!!!

So I was treated to dinner at Rooted Rotisserie recently, and Keith Lee didn't lie. Everything was great! From the ambience, drinks, food to the fast and friendly service . I thoroughly enjoyed it all. I did attempt to make a reservation earlier in the day, to no avail. However we were seated immediately upon arrival on a Friday night. My photos don't do the food justice -- the Brussels were to die for! Pepper Steak was flavorful and tender. Drink of the day was delicious albeit a bit sweet for my liking. They even offered a free glass of Prosecco for my birthday. Will I be returning? Indeed! Cheers to Rooted for a wonderful experience, and happy Taurus season!

Yelp
If you haven't been to Rooted Rotisserie yet, I suggest you make an effort to get there soon. Rooted is a Black-owned restaurant with French cooking and flavors as the inspiration for their menu. Beautiful decor that reminds you of being at your grandmother's house for Sunday dinner and extremely nice customer service. Rooted really reminds me of eating and sharing a space with family. You'll delve into their rotisserie chicken, which is succulent and tender, and accompanied by their homemade sauces. Their charred shrimp appetizer is charred and seasoned to perfection, and a must try. The salmon is ever so crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, some of the best salmon I've tasted at a restaurant. If their wings are on the menu, do not second guess getting them, just order immediately. The housemade ranch is delicious, and I don't even like ranch. And of course, do not skip out on dessert at Rooted. Rooted currently does not have a liquor license, but you don't miss it when you're sipping on the homemade sorrel or soursop lemonade.

Yelp
I heard about this place on TikTok and when I did online research Yelp and Google showed this is a great place to try. The location is in the Historic Hollins Market neighborhood. You will pass by residential homes to get to it. Street parking is available and depending on the day and time, it can be a paid parking situation. The storefront is unassuming and simple. You enter and the vibe hits like you just arrived home. Cozy, clean and the music is upbeat. It gave me an exciting vibe. The staff are super friendly, the gentleman at the bar greeted us and although we were early for our reservation they seated us. Btw best to get reservation- limited dining area tables and bar area is not big. Loved the friendly and very professional server we had. I got a sparkling juice in a can (imported from Italy) and my husband got the sweet peach tea- both were very refreshing so off to a good start on the meal experience. We came for the chicken so we got 1/2 chicken to share; we got the sweet potato purée which was divine! I got an order to go since it was so good lol. The smoked mushroom did not disappoint. Savory and juicy mushroom and the vegetable and other toppings on the rice blended so well- my mouth is watering just remembering it). We also got a side dish of Flash Fried Brussels and let me tell you I can eat this every day! The char is perfect and the seasoning of tangy and sweet combination made for a perfect side. Our chicken was juicy and very tasty. I'm imagining the chicken was marinated before cooked because I can't get my chicken to taste like that lol. Over all I highly recommend and I'm definitely coming back!

Yelp
I have been here twice. It's such a cute vibe. The first time I tried the chicken, Mac and cheese and collards. They all were good. If you prefer a baked Mac and cheese, this may not be the option for you - but I would still suggest you try it out. I had the pepper steak the second time, not my favorite (a little too fatty), but overall the flavor was there. Could have just been a bad but. The staff is super helpful and friendly. This establishment is BYOB. Street parking has been easy to find both times. Highly recommend!

Yelp
There are certain restaurants in the city that just get it right and Rooted Rotisserie is just that place. My good good girlfriends surprised me with a birthday dinner here, they knew this spot has been on my bucket list to try for a very long time and it did not disappoint . We had an extremely early reservation for a Saturday evening, which was fine. Once arriving you are immediately greeted by the pleasant hostess and seated right away, our server a very nice young lady, I wish I would have gotten her name, she was awesome. This establishment is BYOB, so you can bring your own wine. Our server brought over wine glasses and a bucket to hold our wine. They have a fresh made lemonade that they make and this one was a soursop flavor, omg. I absolutely love anything soursop and not just because it has so many great health benefits, but it is just so good. We instantly grabbed a carafe for the table. For dinner we kept it very simple, we ordered the whole rotisserie chicken to share. For our sides we did three sides, the confit potatoes, the mac and cheese, I heard so many great things about the collard greens, however they was out this evening but they had cabbage. When I tell you everything and I mean everything reminded me of a delicious Sunday dinner. Our meal smacked ok. For dessert we had choices between the key lime pie and lemon custard. We got both and they were both phenomenal. Since it was three of us, a whole chicken and three sides was plenty enough for us to share. We were stuffed. And the service was just impeccable, the chef came out and talked to us, the vibe was just overall welcoming. I would come back again and again. They take reservations so it strongly encouraged to book one so you can guarantee a table. So if you are in the Hollins Market section of town, please, please make it your justice to stop in to this place, you will not be disappointed SYOY

Yelp
I visited back in February (just found the pictures lol) and had a great experience. I felt like I was dining with family. The chicken was so good as well as all of the accompaniments that we ordered. I will be back when time allows since I live an hour away but it is worth it.

Yelp
This is a small, quaint restaurant. I was part of a party of seven on a Thursday evening. They do not serve alcohol, but you are free to bring wine or champagne (no beer or hard liquor). While the food was good, it took a little bit long to arrive. The folks in my group enjoyed their food. I had a burger with fries, but I didn't care for the ketchup, it was some type of French ketchup, and it's acquired taste.

Yelp
I've been trying to get to Rooted Rotisserie since they've opened! Food was amazing! I'm a huge fan of Brussel sprouts, they were cooked to perfection, soft with a little crisp!!! The chicken so tender it was falling apart! sweet potato puree was graciously whipped! Our reservation was at 6pm, from the door customer service was kind! Our waitress Zia took great care of us! Our food came out very quickly, hot and tasted like heaven. You can tell they use top tier ingredients,, everything tasted fresh and made to order! The ambiance is perfect for a date night or even an evening with the girls! I'll be back to visit! They check all the boxes for me!!! Don't walk, run and check them out!!!! You won't be dissapointed!

Yelp
This may be my first ever 5 star review. Rooted Rotisserie was well worth the hype. It's not a big spot, so there was about a 45 minute wait to be seated at the bar. I would suggest making reservations. It's very cozy on the inside. Every staff member was friendly and well versed in the menu items. I ordered the duck confit gumbo, which came with cabbage, fried okra, and saffron rice. The duck was fall off the bone delicious, the rice was fragrant and cooked to perfection, the cabbage was full of flavor. I also tried some of the Mac and cheese, it was rich and creamy. I was also informed that the menu will soon be getting an overhaul for spring. Overall I had a great experience and I can't wait to return and try some different dishes.

Yelp
I happened to go to Rooted on a whim on one of the cities firs snow day. I had just derailed from the Marc train and was hungry after a long day. My body longed for a nice home cooked meal. I tried to book a table online but the first available reservation had quickly disappeared as I waited to see if my sister wanted to join me. I figured since it would only be myself that I would have a better chance of snagging a table as a walk in so I quickly made my way to the restaurant. In a last ditch effort, I decided to call as I was enroute to see if they had a cancellation. I was told no but they had seats at the bar. As I entered the establishment I was quickly greeted by the owner as well as the young lady behind the bar. I was offered a sample of their delicious lemonade..soursop flavor to be exact. I was indecisive so I decided to order wings, a rotisserie chicken, AND duck confit gumbo. The wings were accompanied by a delicious homemade ranch dressing, and I opted to have extra peper sauce on the side. The rotisserie was delicious but on this night the star of the show was the duck confit. The skin was crisp while the meat was juicy and full of flavor. The cabbage was just as flavorful. I hope the duck is a permanent part of the menu because I was told the menu changes. Unfortunately those delicious greens I had heard about were not on the menu this evening.

Yelp
Rooted Rotisserie is the heartbeat of Baltimore. You have to give it to Keith Lee, he has truly opened our eyes to the hidden gems of our communities. I love that you find this quaint restaurant tucked away in a Baltimore neighborhood. Please note, it IS small so but it packs a mighty punch in terms of flavor and friendly, knowledgable customer service. *BYOB! I have to put this at the top of the review because the bar may confuse you into thinking you will have access to a full bar experience. Not sure when or if they will get a liquor license but when or if they do it will truly take this dining experience to the next stratosphere. Now to the food. It was three of us and we all were trying this spot for the first time so we ordered everything. Not really but almost. We ordered the Pepper Steak and Yellow Rice, which was so tender, juicy, and jam packed with flavor. I have to say we didn't have to use salt or pepper for any of our food because the Chef truly understands how to season the food to perfection without making you feel like your blood pressure will be compromised. The Rotisserie Chicken was fall off the bone GOODT! This is a staple dish that is the center of the success of the this dining experience. We also ordered the Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts and they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. How did they give us the best of both worlds with this dish is beyond me. The Macaroni and Cheese is slap your mama good (but don't really slap your mama lol ). You can taste all the different cheeses and the creaminess of the consistency. Rooted Rotisserie has truly mastered the complete dining experience. It is truly an experience that cannot be explained. You have to taste and see for yourself.

Yelp
I would have given it a 5 but the music was so loud we couldn't hear our lovely waitress or have a conversation. Just over powering. The food was awesome. Large portions. Family style.

Yelp
Met a friend here for dinner and truly enjoyed myself! It's a small quaint atmosphere with a good amount of street parking available. The food was delicious, service was exceptional and the owners were very sweet as well. I had the duck gumbo and my friend had the salmon. The soursop lemonade to drink was a great complement. Will certainly return

Yelp
They're called Rooted Rotisserie for good reason!! The rotisserie chicken is amazing! I really love all the sauces you can try with it too. My friends and I shared a half chicken, a bunch of sides, and a plate of wings. I personally loooved the brussel sprouts! The mac and cheese was pretty good too. I don't think I've ever had a mac and cheese quite like that with the sharp white cheddar before. And the wings were fried to perfection. Though, I do wish they were more flavorful. I think they would be great if they were tossed in some sort of dry seasoning. I also love the ambiance of the place. The arched wall openings are super attractive and give this place a great romantic feel.

Yelp
Okay first off I'm giving them a 5 because my food looked and tasted good! Baltimore restaurants are just skinny and narrow, been living all over Maryland since 2001 and I'm just now getting use it. I don't really recommend for large groups. We were a group of 5 plus a child and a baby. It was a bit tight but it's still nice. I really loved the pictures on the wall full of beautiful black people. It was my god daughter's first 13th birthday and she chose this and says she has been here before. It was my first time. The prices online are not the same in the restaurant but only about $3 to $5 difference. I ordered the duck confit gumbo with fried okra. It was so bomb! Came with collard greens and potatoes, I didn't even ask for hot sauce. Although this is a chicken place, I didn't like how the half breast looked which looked dry to me. The salmon looked okay too. I was wasn't interested enough to try it. They gave us a sample of their new lemonade, definitely check it out. I would come back for the gumbo for sure but add some hot sauce lol

Yelp
This food was simply amazing. My husband said,"the best meal he ever had." This is the perfect atmosphere for a nice date night or birthday. It's BYOB. The staff were welcoming and personable. They put your name in the table for reservations which was a cute touch. We loved our visit. Get the aioli. Or get whatever sauce your heart desires I'm sure it's all good here.

Yelp
Dinner tasted excellent. I got the duck with okra and rice and enjoyed every bite. The place is really cute and the service was great. Brea went the extra mile every step of the meal and also gave us a few good spots to try for after dinner drinks.

Yelp
The restaurant was very busy but I had a reservation and was seated right away. Overall, my experience was good. The wings were good and I liked the spice. My Pepper Steak was ok but it was warm when it came. I just wish that it had more peppers. Potatoes . Greens . The chicken was chicken but that ranch was good. The house lemonade was good but I wish that I knew about the carafe option.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. The chicken was very flavorful and the sauces were all good. You can tell they're made in house. The sides steal the show. The sweet potatoes are amazing and the cabbage tastes homemade. The brussels sprouts and Mac & cheese are flavorful and have great portions with enough to have for later. The service was great and the restaurant has a very cozy vibe to it. Definitely a new favorite.
