The Best Croissants In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Every contest has to have a silver medalist, and it has to be Rosellini’s, but this Ballard bakery’s display would satisfy even the most uptight of croissant snoots. The exoskeleton is blistery with multiple wafer-like layers of shatter, intense butter notes, and a structure that bounces back up after each squish. It’s the croissant that meets all expectations when those expectations are explicitly, “give me France.”" - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente

Order everything at Rosellini's, but prioritize the croissant - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"If the morning line is any indication, Rosellini's is the best bakery in Ballard. Their French pastry showing is excellent—with standouts including a chewy baguette and cinnamon-swirled coffee cake—but it's truly their croissant that would satisfy even the most uptight of snoots. This thing's exoskeleton is blistery with multiple wafer-like layers of shatter, intense butter notes, and a structure that bounces back up after each squish. It’s the croissant that meets all expectations when those expectations are explicitly, “give me France.”" - Aimee Rizzo

The Best Restaurants in Ballard | Eater Seattle

"Every neighborhood in every city deserves a little bakery like this, where the lamination on the croissants never fails, where you can reliably get kouign amann, where there’s baguettes during the week and challah on Fridays, where there’s a little secluded patio out back. There’s a line here on weekends, but it’s a friendly neighborhood line. Rossellini’s makes Ballard feel like a little French town." - Harry Cheadle

Seattle’s Best Bakeries | Eater Seattle

"This unpretentious Ballard shop is the place to go in northwest Seattle. Highlights include the kouign amann, the orange zest-flavored morning bun, the spongey-on-the-inside canele, and the delightfully light cakes. If you want to linger here over a coffee, there’s an outdoor space at the back." - Eater Staff

On the Grid : Honore Bakery

"Part of the collection of establishments tucked away in North Ballard along 70th. It's a french bakery with color macarons, fresh baked breads, croissant-dough goodies, and honest french desserts. The Kouign (pronounced 'queen') Amann is heavenly. There's even a back patio with a 3 or so tables in you can't find a spot at one of the 6 window seats. Lighthouse Coffee guarantees a bone-dry cappuccino does the trick." - Brooks Running Global Creative

Google
Super good bakery! My favorites were the quiche lorraine and seasonal rhubarb danish. The quiche was one of the best, if not the best, quiches I’ve ever had. The pastry and the filling were perfect. The croissant + custard + rhubarb combo was also perfect. I also tried the kouign amann and Canele. The former was average, but I liked the Canele a lot. It had a slight citrus flavor. Highly recommend this place!

Google
Amazing Ballard bakery! Favorites were the plain butter croissant, sour cream coffee cake, and cheddar scone.

Google
Rosellini's is the best French bakery in town! (IMHO) The fruit danish is perfect! Prices have gone up, like everywhere, but the quality hasn't gone down. There's often a long line but it moves pretty quickly. This place is popular!!!

Google
TLDR; decent enough pastries, not the best IMO though, lines are long We came in on the weekend 20 mins after they opened and the line was already out through the door and moving very slowly. The barista eventually started taking drink orders from the line. It took us 20ish minutes before we were able to get in through the door - we got two mochas, the chocolate almond croissant, a blueberry scone and a spinach and feta pastry. The croissant and pastry were super crispy but felt a bit too oil for my palette unfortunately. The scone was just ok. So was the coffee. I don’t know if I’ll stand in line for their pastries but I might come back to try their desserts.

Google
Great little coffee shop and bakery. Had their tiramisu cake and chocolate vanilla bean eclairs. So far the best eclairs I had in the city; firm pastry, light and vanilla intense cream. Would come back to get them again for tea time and a pastry run.

Google
I had a delicious chocolate croissant . It was lunchtime, and about 20 students from the local high school descended on the bakery. The staff seemed to know them and enjoyed their boisterous energy. Two young women sat next to me, and I had such a fun time talking with them. One had a piece of chocolate cake that looked MARVELOUS. I will definitely go back when I am in Seattle.

Google
Killer bread and pastries and absolutely delicious pastries and sweet treats. This is clearly a huge neighborhood favorite so get there early to stand in line. The super friendly service more than makes up for the wait. Not a ton of space to sit inside without being bumped into, but there are a couple of outdoor seating options.

Kethnie Moreau

Google
What an amazing experience! Katie is an amazing barista and super friendly staff. I had a really nice conversation with them and they recommended lots of spots for a first time visit to Seattle. Ample goods and pastries about a mile away from Ballard Avenue Very clean and modern shop with delicious pastries Drip Coffee is strong robust and flavorful. Nicely recommended

Yelp
Perfect little gem of a French bakery in Ballard with reasonable priced, DELICIOUS, fresh baked goods. There's a line every morning that moves quickly so the pastries go quick ! My friend and I went to try their cannelés, which are nice and crisp on the outside and a spongy, custard-like inside. Their special twist is orange zest in the batter! Today, we tried the fresh OJ and the matcha latte with their homemade vanilla syrup. They were both lovely and not overly sweet. Of course the OJ depends on the oranges of the day. Other pastries we have tried: Chocolate vanilla bean eclair Chocolate almond croissant Kouign-amann (croissant topped with hardened caramel) Chocolate lavender macron Blackberry macron Sour cream coffee cake (w walnuts) There's only two benches for seating inside and a couple outside tables, but it's nice to sit and watch the morning traffic of people come in and out. They are also dog friendly as there are treats on the counter ! It is warm and you can watch the fresh pastries come out of the oven in the mornings as well. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
I come here often for the ham and cheese croissant and kouign amann. For my daughter, I will get her the fruit tart and chocolate vanilla bean eclair. If they're out of ham and cheese croissant at the moment, be sure to ask when the next batch is coming out. I got one fresh out of the oven and it was ah-ma-zing! Service is friendly and quick. There's always a good rotation of baked goods to enjoy.

Yelp
Love the Italian way of pastry especially their cheese based light and airy dolce! Rosellini thank you !

Collin K.

Yelp
This pastry shop is remarkable. The service was exceptional, I was with a large group and they had our order ready to go. The seating area in back was open and we were able to enjoy the lovely seating area. Now to the important stuff. We had a sampling of 13 different pastries. While I can't review them all due to a lack of patience, I will mention my two favorites. For a savory option, the spinach and feta pastry was delectable. It was cooked to perfection, flaky, and had the perfect amount of filling. For a sweet option, the apple pastry was phenomenal. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, and flaked and fell apart just right. Strongly recommend this place!

Michca B.

Yelp
We called ahead for 10 pastries and got an extra 3 on the house! BEST ham & cheese croissant and spinach & feta pastry in all of Seattle! Rossellini's never fails with their service, presentation, and tasty pastries

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Delicious assortment of pastries, did a restaurant tour with our friends and this was our first stop! loved the diversity of textures and flavors. The seasonal flavored pastries were my favorite, a wonderful pairing of spinach and feta! love coming here when we're in the Ballard area
google avatar

Yelp
Service was stellar at this small community cafe and the pastries were simply amazing. Fresh, tasty and just the right texture. Barista is top notch and so friendly. Cute location with small patio space in back. Wish this place was in my neighborhood!!!
google avatar

Hailey K.

Yelp
Came with a group and had a matcha latte and a variety of sweet and savory pastries. Everything was delicious which is especially impressive given that we came later in the day. Would definitely return! There's a nice patio area in the back if it's a nice day

Yelp
Great local coffee shop with delicious croissants, breads and macarons. There are so many items in the pastry case that I had to ask for the macarons (we saw them on the menu before our arrival).

D M.

Yelp
Broke da mouth! We had a food tour and had pastries at 230pm, still fresh, flaky and moist. Had space in the back to accommodate our 12 person group in the back. 10/10 would recommend!

Dorise B.

Yelp
Delicious. Crusty on the outside, soft and delicious inside. Not too sweet. Just perfect!
google avatar

Yelp
Their pastries are beautiful, but this review is specifically about the Kouign Amann - it's heavenly! I'd describe it as a carmelized croissant and it's somehow everything you want in pastry all at once! Flaky, soft, crispy, sweet, salty, buttery - it's just perfection! I usually like fruity tarts, but this has won me over! Definitely a must try Sorry for the poor photo - it was taken just so I could remember the name of the pastry, but I decided to might be helpful to include it in my review! :)

Yelp
My current favorite bakery in Seattle. Pretty balanced selection - not a huge set of items, but enough to make your day interesting and provide variety - with both cold case desserts/sweets and traditional baked goods represented. The more "kitchen table" breads such as their baguette are excellent. I have an addictive response to their cheddar-scallion scone, though it might not be a traditional scone to many because it isn't dry and crumbling, but rather nicely soft and with the perfect balance of moisture and flavor. The beverages are good but not the star here, and you may find the service a tad snarky at times, but when that happens I chalk it up to the endless queue of customers that has the staff constantly on their toes on weekend mornings, so are a little on edge at all times, because they are trying to get to everyone as fast as possible.

Yelp
Everything here tasted so good! Definitely recommend! Ambience Service: The staff is friendly! There's a hidden patio - with comfortable cushioned seating and flowered pots, it made up for a perfect vibe. Food: The cafe offers fresh baked bread, and their olive is freshly made too - We ordered mocha and cappuccino along with croissants, heirloom tomato tart and lemon meringue tart. The tart had a strong citrus taste, the cream over it was light yet crisp, and the tart had a perfect crunch. Lemon meringue tart may have been a winner among all items ordered, all items were baked to perfection and I can't wait to try all the delicacies they had to offer!

Yelp
The chocolate cake with chocolate icing was absolutely amazing. I went all over town, to SoDo, Cap Hill and could not find a whole cake without a pre-order. Walked in to Rosellini's beautiful shop at noon and they made a cake to order to be picked up later that day. They were so lovely and the cake was so so good!!
google avatar

Stuart O.

Yelp
We picked up some desserts for dinner at friends. We got 5 different desserts, and, wow! They were all awesome! Chocolate Mousse, lemon merengue tarte, chocolate almond caramel tarte, hazelnut chocolate mousse--all amazing.

Yelp
I'm pretty surprised I haven't written a review for Rosellini's - since Besalu closed and while I wait for Besalu's reopening, I formed a habit of going to Rosellini's. I really do love their chocolate almond croissant, they perfected it. I also enjoy seasonal fruit danish from time to time. I also recently tried their magdalena tea cake (it's an olive oil cupcake) and it was so good I really wish I could recreate it. Just like any other bakeries in Seattle, it gets crowded sometime around 830-10 am especially on the weekends. I've talked to my friend about this and we both agree that people in Seattle seem to be ok waking up early (like before 9) regardless of what day of the week it is, which results in long lines forming in the early hours. I avoided crowds by going to bakeries earlier elsewhere but I need to find another way to do so in Seattle. Back to Rosellini's, I also love their backyard seating - it's full of flowers and plants and nice to hang out with a book if it's not crowded. If it is crowded, I recommend taking your treats to and hang out at Salmon Bay Park - they have some picnic tables and I had good experience eating and enjoying being outside/watching kids being kids at the playground.

Yelp
The incredibly bad news is I found out that Rosellini's has a deliciously moist & decadent chocolate cake that I can get by the slice. I can't think of another place I've tried that is on par or better. So now I run the risk of getting this any time I experience the slightest life hiccup where I justify getting myself a little treat. It's going to be a problem. Also, the morning bun is always a yummy choice. Cinnamon sugar with a bit of orange zest. This place is delightful.

Yelp
The people of Ballard are lucky to have this bakery in their neighborhood. Ham and cheese croissant, morning roll (or bun?), and cinnamon roll were all among the best we've ever had. They know their coffee too. It reminded me that a trip to a bakery can and should be a special experience.

Alyssa K.

Yelp
Just go, you will find something you can't wait to try! It really is one of the best, if not THE best, bakery in town. Also great if there is something special that you can't find anywhere else. Just call ahead, they probably can bake it for you.
google avatar

Luisa M.

Yelp
Pastries are to die for! Long line but it moves quickly and the wait is well worth it. Tried a cappuccino with their house vanilla bean syrup and it was absolutely delightful. Their kougin aman is the best one I've had in Seattle.

Rachael G.

Yelp
All I can say is... HOLY SHOCKING SHIT. This was .... Without irony or exaggeration... the best breakfast- yes breakfast (or possibly even brunch!) I have EVER HAD. I was in town for business. I stopped in on day one and was pleasantly surprised by the latte and the baguette I brought back to my peers at the office managed to impress. So I went back on day two. That's when the hammer dropped. The Rosellini's line was out the door and down the block... at 10am on a Friday. I couldn't understand it. (Why aren't these people at work already!?) I wondered whether I had the time... but precedence prevailed (I put epicurean delights before many things in my life) ... I found a parking space. And that's where the holy shit came in. The line moved very quickly and the staff was unexpectedly friendly (a divergence from the usual Seattle hip yet cold coffee shop style). They were engaging me (WTH!?) looking me in the eye and cracking jokes. I genuinely wanted to pony up to the coffee bar and become friends. But then .... The food!!!! This was the single best breakfast of my fucking life. Calories be damned. This was life and I cherished every morsel. It took great strength to stop myself from picking up the crumbs from the passenger seat and popping them in my mouth ... like "girl you have more class than that... don't you!?" Thank you Rosellini's for keeping the food scene in Seattle alive.
google avatar

Kira H.

Yelp
It was definitely worth the wait in the line (that was out the door!) That's how you know it's going to be good! The almond croissant was amazing!
google avatar

Jayadurga N.

Yelp
Yes yes yes to this place !! Love Their collection of chocolate croissants, blueberry danish and chocolate eclair . Amazing rich flavour . They sell out quickly so get em early ! The blueberries are very fresh and tart
google avatar

Jane Qian W.

Yelp
Finally tried some pastries here after bookmarking it for a long time. They all taste fresh and good, except that I wish they were less sweet. The only thing is it's quite expensive that i was a bit shocked seeing the total price.
google avatar

J. J.

Yelp
One of the best bakeries in Seattle. The pastries consistently look and taste great. The vanilla pastry cream in the eclairs is very good. The danish has the perfect flakiness and texture. Have also tried the pumpkin tea cake which was flavourful and the perfect texture. Long lines but it moves fast due to the quick service. We usually skip the coffee and have only tried the plain lattes.
google avatar

Donn D.

Yelp
Rossellini's has some great pastries to be sure. I had a ham and cheese croissant which was flaky and tasted a little like I imagine heaven tastes like if it has a flavor to it. The blueberry scone wasn't anything to ignore either. Yum! They also have iced coffees and fresh squeezed orange juice which is my favorite and hard to find anymore. There is outside seating but it is limited, and the inside was really small so there isn't any social distancing. People, ugh.
google avatar

Lillian G.

Yelp
Get a super quality pastry here at this 'grab & go' spot. Way better than those chains. Come early for the most options. Aren't able to heat up though.. Might be a line but goes by pretty quick. Highly recommend to all pastry lovers !!
google avatar

Dilara B.

Yelp
It's a great place especially if you have a sweet tooth, and it has amazing pastries and good desserts.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for trying new bakeries and this one certainly did not disappoint. We had just gone to Carkeek park for a walk and were heading home when the mood to visit a new bakery struck me. Rosellini's had good reviews so I decided to check it out. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 10a and it was just in time because as I waited in line just outside the entrance, 7-8 people had already jumped in line behind me. They have a solid selection of various pastries and drinks. I purchased an assortment of various pastries (6) and a drip coffee which totaled ~$40 after tax. I still have a few pastries to eat but of the ones I've already DEVOURED, I can see why Rosellini's is highly rated! It's a blessing and a curse that we'll be moving closer to this bakery in the upcoming weeks. I'm sure I'll find myself standing outside their door again very soon!

Kimberly ..

Yelp
During COVID, I had a very small intimate wedding that didn't require much planning. I trusted my cousin to get the cake - I never did any cake tastings. Just asked her to pick a good one. And oh boy did she deliver! She ordered Rossellini's beautiful chocolate cake which has now become my all-time favorite. I get it every year on my anniversary and also drop in occasionally to get a slice when a craving hits. All their pastries are delicious but the chocolate cake will always be extra special to me!
google avatar

Kendra B.

Yelp
Small coffee shop with great coffee and super tasty pastries. One of my favorites to walk to on a weekend and savor. The almond croissant is a must. Seating is limited to outside so plan to grab and go.
google avatar

Tracey K.

Yelp
My favorite place in Seattle to get pastries. They make everything in house. I love getting a snack in the afternoon and then visiting Editor Consignment next door. An afternoon well spent!
google avatar

Tanice P.

Yelp
Their croissants are insanely good! Flakey and buttery! The vanilla latte is smooth and delicious. The place is a little small but has a great neighborhood feel. Also lots of passing dogs to watch! I will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Marie R.

Yelp
I love Kouign amanns so I was excited to try the kouign amann here but while the dough was not bad, the sea salt was a bit much. It just killed the entire thing. My friend got a bunch of pastries from here and she wasn't impressed by any of the items that she got.

James R.

Yelp
Searching for bakery options Rossellini's came up and fairly close to where I am staying. Parking a bit of a challenge but found a spot and once inside found a decent selection left. I am a big rhubarb fan and chose a couple of rhubarb Danish and they were most tasty and light melt in your mouth. Went also for a couple of the lemon meringue tarts and what a wonderful taste delight they proved to be Staff was most friendly and the whole display area was more than clean. If wishing coffee and limited seating this too was offered All in all this is a bakery I will return to as such top of the line offerings One would not go wrong on those fine baked goods Jim at Maplelag in Minneapolis
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
I found this place way too late in the game! The pastries here are to die for, I'm not exaggerating. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I guess you'll have to go and see yourself. Coffee is great, homemade syrups and the usual drink options. Not a lot of seating, a couple tables in the front and a little backyard garden seating area in the back which was very cute and peaceful. Located on a residential street in Ballard near Frankie & Jos, Delancey, and the Fat Hen. Definitely stop by here when you get a chance!

Claire B.

Yelp
Everything here is incredible, especially the kouign amann and cheesecake. Super friendly staff too!
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Stopped by yesterday, picked up an assortment of treats. My eclair and ham croissant were absolutely delicious! Also my kiddos loved their maracons! It was very very rainy all day... and there was no where to enjoy our pastries, so while the weather is def not their fault, it was a bummer to eat in the car.
google avatar

Arlene S.

Yelp
I've heard great things about Rosellini and finally had a chance to try it. I ordered kouign amann, vanilla eclair, and almond croissant. I really like the cream that is on top of the almond croissant and the flaky layers. I enjoy the éclair and the cream that is inside, which is not too overwhelming sweet. Not a huge fan of the kouign amann as layers hardens and taste like I'm eating hard candy. Overall, I wouldn't mind stopping by again in the future to try other items.
google avatar

Rahim K.

Yelp
Food was uh may zing WOW - great service - great selection - great operational team to get orders out fast & ambiance was very welcoming with outdoor seating around - can't wait to come back.

Emma D.

Yelp
Best ham and cheese croissant I've ever had! Great coffee and wide selection of other pastries.
google avatar

Catherine L.

Yelp
WHOLE THE WALL. Doesn't even have sign outside just saw a bunch of people waiting in line and waited too. YOU HAVE TO GET THE CHOCOLATE ALMOND CROISSANT!!! One of the best one I have ever had in my life. Inside fluffy and outside crunchy. Chocolate sooo good. The all their syrup is made in house I recommended the caramel syrup if you're in between vanilla and caramel. Caramel more sweet.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
This place is truly so good. At 2pm the croissants are still amazing and just as good as if they came right out of the oven - the crunch and flaky layers! My favorites are the chocolate almond croissant and kouign amann. You might be waiting in line for 5-10min but the quality and craft of their pastries is worth it.
google avatar

Tanaya N.

Yelp
Indulging and delicious. Right across fat hen, this place is a gem. Their buttery chocolate croissant is decadent and divine. I still have the taste lingering in my mouth since last afternoon. The apple turnover was one of the bests I have ever eaten. Parking can be a fight since the streets are narrow and this place is busy. Must stop place if you are around Ballard.
google avatar

Natalie G.

Yelp
I tried two of their macaroons the earl grey and hazelnut. Both were delicious! Anytime I'm in the area this will be my go to spot! They are being very safe reference covid restrictions. Sanitizer is available at the door. One person at a time allowed in. And their doors are propped open to keep fresh air moving.
google avatar

Trey C.

Yelp
Really, really good baked goods and the coffee was pretty spectacular too. I had the Almond croissant and it was probably the best baked good I have ever tasted.

Aline N.

Yelp
Quiche was wonderful. Kouign-amann was not as sweet, crunchy and flaky as others, Almond chocolate croissant was pretty good. The rhubarb pastry was good.
google avatar

April S.

Yelp
Oh MY. I've been looking for a bakery this divine since we moved 5 years ago. We tried the dark chocolate mousse--AMAZING. Spot on. Everything you imagine a mousse should be. Light as air, subtle sweetness, almost not there but ever smooth ganache somehow NOT collapsing this chocolate cloud perfection. The lemon meringue tart is JUST Super creamy meringue and curd that is well balanced and resting on top a perfectly blended crumb of graham that gives you butter and tooth and support. Bacon egg brioche was a fabulous savory breakfast. Honey enjoyed it so fast I didn't taste it. The almond croissant is also a delight, more subtle with the almond paste flavor than Snohomish bakery. A perfect crunch outside with a layered pillow to support the almond inside. The baguette was at my daughters insistence, and thank God for that ch--TEEN (she's adamant about the accuracy), it's super hard on the outside but perfectly soft with an excellent sourdough tang. Worth every penny. The staff was also helpful and attentive and I owe the regular flow between The Fat Hen and here for making me aware of this gem today. When they do a When Harry Met Sally remake, it should be here--we will all know the feeling!
