"Old-fashioned doughnuts often include sour cream or buttermilk in the recipe. Since her husband doesn’t eat dairy, Leah Klein of City Living Boston suggests a dairy-free version from Russell Orchards in Ipswich, Massachusetts, close to Crane Beach and the Crane Estate for views of the ocean and color-changing trees." - Adam H. Callaghan

"Another from Ipswich, Russell Orchards has been around for nearly a century, so the team knows a thing or two about apples (not to mention pears, apricots, and even uncommon fruits like jostaberries, all of which the team makes into wine). Fans of the orchard’s cider doughnuts are radical in their devotion — ask one, and they’ll assert that no other cider doughnut exists anywhere in the world. Fair warning to the sweet-toothed out there: Russell doesn’t roll the doughnuts in sugar." - Terrence Doyle, Adam H. Callaghan

"Apples are the main pick-your-own attraction throughout the fall — watch for updates on varieties on the Russell Orchards website — but blueberries, strawberries, cherries, and more are available earlier in the year, typically parts of June through August, depending on the crop. Open Tuesday through Sunday. Russell Orchards also offers a farm store, a barnyard (feeding animals and sections of the barnyard are currently off-limits due to COVID restrictions) and a winery (tastings are not currently occurring)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

I love it here for a few reasons First is the quality of the fruit. Each field is full of little gems, tiny bombs of flavor. The way fruit is supposed to look and taste, not like the overwatered massive monstrosities you find at the supermarket or some other PYO operations. The whole farm itself also looks a little more wild and natural than your typical outfit. Second I appreciate the land acknowledgement they have on their website and the fact that it includes actionable real things that they do. Third everyone working here and the ownership are welcoming, open, and kind. This is the place!

Such a cool experience! So much to try from a well stocked shop. Apple picking is available but way more than we needed for a few days in town. We enjoyed a few good items and a hot non alcoholic cider. Lots of other produce from specialty wines, honey, baked goods, whole pies, ice cream, cooking books and much more. 🥧🍎🍏🍯🍦

We always stop at Russell Orchards on the way to crane beach. We love their baked goods and freshly harvested fruit. Their grapes were incredible - I’ve never tasted such flavorful grapes in my life. Highly recommend a stop here - bring an extra cooler if you’re heading to the beach for the day to stock up on things from their shop! We also love looking at the animals. Typically, we’ll see ducks, donkeys, a horse or two, goats and pigs.

A very nice place to visit. We spoke with a nice woman there who was very knowledgeable about the farm and answered questions we had. They have a few animals outside to see as well as a pretty little pond. Lots of goodies for purchase inside as well as fresh baked pastries. A nice wine selection made with on farm produce. Prices varied and were a bit more than a grocery store but this is supporting a local business and local sourced goods.

A beautiful farm to visit! I was not able to go into the farm itself for picking but I will this fall! The farm store has a variety of foods including fresh fruit, corn and ice cream! There was also a wine bar which was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I also had some raspberry sorbet there which was some of the best ice cream I've ever had! I highly recommend visiting Russell Orchards!

Russell Orchards is an awesome farm that I love visiting. They have a shop with so many great things inside. You can buy lots of apples and produce inside, there is a really good bakery, an ice cream stand, and a room filled with lots of wine. I love their apple cider donuts - they are absolutely delicious and they are not covered in cinnamon sugar but they don't need to be. Their mulled cider too is some of the best I've had. If you walk past the store, there is a very pretty pond with lots of ducks. Their chicken coop and barn is just next to the pond too where you can see the animals. There are several dozen chickens, 2 pigs, some donkeys and goats, a sheep, and some horses. Everything is maintained very well and the animals seems to be taken very good care of. The farm also has apple picking in the fall, and lots of berry picking on other months throughout the year. In the fall they run a donut stand for when it gets extra busy when everyone wants donuts. It's a great place to visit in the fall especially. Everything about this farm is very cute and is also decorated very well. There are also electric vehicle charging stations.
