The Cool Kids Guide to Downtown Manhattan Hotels

"The sleek, giant sail-like 21-story property, looking like it was plucked from the Dubai skyline and planted in the hip East Village, is perfectly positioned to take advantage of Lower Manhattan’s renowned after-dark revelry. And when it's time to return to the hotel, the in-house No Bar will just be getting warmed up with live DJs. The 145 rooms and suites have wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows for maximum city skyline views and soft Italian linens ensure a pleasant night’s sleep." - David Farley

Best Lunar New Year Food at New York Restaurants | Eater NY

"The East Village location of the hotel is teaming up with Vietnamese food pop-up Bé Bêp for a special Tết menu available at No Bar. The two dishes include the pomelo salad and the desserts combination of floating mochi and chè trôi nước. A portion of the menu sales will go towards senior meal delivery program Heart of Dinner. It’s available through Friday, February 28. And then, earlier on Saturday, February 8, the hotel is hosting a party with Asian women collective Azn Americana, with tea leaf readings, tea cocktails, and tattoos. It runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; tickets are $35 (which comes with a drink), and proceeds will go back to the nonprofit." - Nadia Chaudhury

New York City Restaurant Week 2024, The MICHELIN Guide Way

"It’s hard to miss the towering curves and angles of the Standard, surrounded as it is by a relatively low-rise district. And from inside the rooms it makes for unique perspectives on the East Village rooftops as well as the downtown bridges and classic uptown skyscrapers. Windows are floor-to-ceiling, and the in-room amenities are pure luxury-boutique: huge HD screens, Bluetooth-enabled sound systems, mosaic-tile bathrooms and three different bathrobes to choose from. All this and warmth too — the sunny rooms are fitted with subtly retro furnishings and dreamy beds with fluffy down pillows." - MICHELIN Guide

14 Cool Restaurants That Are Quiet Enough For Your Parents

"At Narcissa, your parents will feel comfortable and fun will remain a possibility. Narcissa is in the bottom of the Standard East Village, so it’s reliably lively but still a lot tamer than the restaurant at the Standard across town. It’s also easy enough to get a table here, and there’s always a good energy to the place. Grab a booth in the main dining room for maximum privacy and optimal people watching. There’s a slight emphasis on vegetables, but a carnivore can still have a great meal here." - bryan kim, katherine lewin

"Like all of Andre Balasz’ hotels, The Standard East Village, a tall glass building looming above Cooper Square, is a haven for travelers as much as it is a local, neighborhood establishment. With Narcissa booked to the brim night and day, it’s become a central fixture of the East Village scene. Meanwhile, upstairs, hotel guests enjoy a little respite with rooms that boast picture window views, high above the city streets."
