"Salon de Ning is a bit of a franchise for the Peninsula—there are bars by the same name in their Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Manila hotels as well. Like its sister restaurants across the Pacific, New York's version is decorated in a subtle Asian style, with potted bamboo trees and Chinese screens. The cocktails are pricey even by New York standards, but the Peninsula's exceptional service (including some very accommodating bartenders) more than makes up for the expense. "

Salon de Ning Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"The Peninsula is an upscale, old-school hotel on 55th Street where you might find some kind of business mixer going down in the lobby, and Salon De Ning is exactly the type of rooftop bar you expect to find in such a place. In other words, it's pricey, a little bit fancy, and you'll see suits of every (conservative) color here. If you need a spot to drink with your boss or a few coworkers, it's good for that. The indoor area isn't huge, but there's a big outdoor patio with a view of 5th Avenue. Just be aware that people will probably be a lot of people smoking cigars on this patio. That's a thing here." - Bryan Kim

We went there at Tuesday night and it was amazing! One of my favourite rooftops now. First of all, cocktails menu is huge! You can find any cocktail you want. We also tried Tiramisu - it’s awesome! Very sweet without any strong taste of alcohol. Also I would like to mention staff: everyone is very friendly! You can feel how hospitable everyone is. Server Salvatore shared some interesting conversations with us, told us about the study of Tiramisu cocktail and in overall, made our evening more special. Thank you so much, Salvatore! The view is astonishing, people and atmosphere in this place is incredible! I really recommend this place if you want to have a very memorable experience with your loved ones!

The Rooftop is truly one of the best places to hang out. The staff is exceptional, the vibes are amazing, and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. It’s the kind of place where you can meet many successful and inspiring people. The cocktails are fantastic, and it’s also the perfect spot to enjoy a cigar at the end of the night. I have to say, the manager of the Rooftop Pierre Baysset is one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met!!

Stopped in for a drink on Saturday night. Very friendly bartenders who are master conversationalist—especially Alan, Ron, and Fernando. Champagne was properly chilled which not a lot of places in New York do nowadays. Thanks for the amazing time! Will be back soon!

Google
The Peninsula Bar in Manhattan was a great find that delivers a memorable experience on both levels. The 2nd-floor bar is an elegant, intimate space with a sophisticated ambiance, perfect for unwinding or having meaningful conversations. The mixologists here are truly masters of their craft, creating exquisite cocktails with a level of precision and creativity that’s second to none. Every drink feels like a bespoke experience, tailored to perfection. We had Vesper Martinis. You will be stirred, if not shaken by the expert blend. Upstairs, the Pen-Top Rooftop Bar offers a slightly different vibe—vibrant, chic, and full of interesting people The panoramic views of Manhattan are very nice, especially as the city lights sparkle in the evening. The rooftop bar retains the same high standard of mixology, with bartenders crafting innovative cocktails that perfectly complement the electrifying atmosphere. More Vesper Martinis. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening downstairs or soaking in the city skyline upstairs, the Peninsula Bar offers an unparalleled experience that truly captures the spirit of Manhattan. Highly recommended!

Google
What a beautiful rooftop this is, fantastic views here, great bar menu as well. Just small issue that I need to highlight are the mosquitoes that kept biting at us, and they did not have anything to keep them away.

Google
2024 review- a charming bar with a beautiful view. Although pricey, it is not snobby. It can be a little bit intimidating to locate, but the doorman will be happy to give you directions. The view of the Louis Vuitton building which looks like a bunch of Louis Vuitton stacked luggage is fun to see next to the brightly lit Tiffany building and star. We had a wonderful time. Cocktails were delicious as were the appetizers. In 2022 the igloos were outside now they appear to be inside. Doesn’t seem to have the same charm. 2022 review- the Igloos at Salon de Ning. Fun but expensive but private - we were party of 9 but this would be romantic for 2 since the Igloos are not terribly large and more on the intimate side. We had a wonderful time and everything was great but I think I would prefer next time just the bar which is small and cozy. Jason was beyond wonderful and accommodating from beginning to end! thank you so much.

Google
Our sever Luis was fantastic. Average rooftop views. The drinks and small bites are fantastic but very expensive ($29/drink) for a small plates. Pro tip: if you don’t have a reservation, get there just before opening, they will most likely have something. But it does fill up quickly.

Google
“Extremely Disappointing Experience” We called The Peninsula in advance to confirm we could have a drink at their bar. The receptionist assured us that last call was between 11:30 and midnight, and we should come by. We arrived at 11:30, only to be told by staff that the bar was closed for a private event and that last call had already passed. No prior notice, no courtesy, just a wasted trip. For a supposed five-star hotel, this lack of communication and professionalism is unacceptable. Save your time and go somewhere else!”

Yelp
One of the best views in midtown featuring Central Park and Fifth Avenue as far as the eye can see. Located on the rooftop of The Peninsula Hotel with no reservations, this spot is a nice last minute pop in for drinks with a gorgeous scenery. They have an indoor and outdoor area with large couches outside that can accommodate large parties for table service. We didn't have any food but we kept the drinks flowing. All the drinks were delicious including the non-alcoholic ones. Our server was extremely accommodating and had great recommendations. Definitely marking this place down as a spot for impressing out of towners!

Yelp
We wanted to go to a rooftop in the area and stumbled across Salon de Ning. The views are nice and the drinks are good. This place runs on the pricier side - about $30 per drink.

Yelp
This cocktail lounge on the roof of the Peninsula hotel is rarely crowded, so you can stroll right in. There's a large patio area that's heated in the winter and has nice enough views of the city, but the interior of the bar is feeling pretty dated, as is the case with the whole hotel. Both hotel and bar are really pricey and high end, but the majesticity of the Peninsula name really loses its luster when it feels like the space needs some updating. This might be appropriate for those who treat the Peninsula as a reliable mainstay, but for those of us excited about all the shiny new rooftop bars the city has to offer may find this rooftop bar wanting. While the prices are sky high, the bar does know how to make a good cocktail. I was pleased with their extensive whiskey list and the bartender's breadth of liquor knowledge, so I did feel taken cared of. I felt a little out of place amongst the clientele however, but were visiting with folks who like this bar so was fine to go along with what they wanted.

Yelp
I was a guest at the hotel and upon checkin the concierge recommended the rooftop bar as a place to check out so that's exactly what I did. The weather was clearing up and just warm enough to sit outside without freezing so we decided to sit outside. The view is nice and there are two plastic domes that you can book if you have a large enough party but since we didn't, we opted for a spot next to the edge. Being in the Peninsula, you would expect good service but our waiter felt more like a back of house staff who had been asked to fill a role temporarily until the real waiter was back. My husband received a phone call and he thought that was the perfect time to come to our table to take our order, luckily he had mentioned something he might order so I just got that for him. It was really awkward because he was standing so far away and asking me questions, I had to raise my voice. Drinks are not cheap which is expected and they were very average. The busser was visibly annoyed when we were leaving and was intent that we walk backwards and out of the way so he could pass. Not asking to be get special red carpet treatment or anything but I am heavily pregnant and clumsier than normal. Finally upon signing the bill, the same un-trained waiter came running out to the lobby saying I didn't pay. I had put the charge on our room and he failed to read the giant words we had clearly written on the receipt. Extremely embarrassing for everyone involved. What a waste of 40minutes of my trip to New York, would have been better spent walking to anywhere but here.

Yelp
We were originally going to go to BarSixtyFive, but as it hadn't fully opened yet, we ended up here. An elevator took us up to the bar, which had an old-fashioned vibe with a pretty heavy smell of smoke. (They sell cigars here if that's your thing) When we sat down, we waiting for around 15-20 min without anyone coming to take our orders. It wasn't until my friend got up and went to the bar that we were able to place our order. I got an Orange Cocktail, which to be honest I didn't really enjoy the taste of. Drinks are also on the pricier end (35 per cocktail after tip). The bar had pretty nice views and vibes, but the slow service and high price definitely put a slight damper on things. I'll probably try a different rooftop next time.

Yelp
Great vibes and delicious drinks! Ofc it's pricey given the hotel but I feel like you get what you pay for. My friends got alcoholic drinks and thought they were some of the better ones they've had, and I opted for a lychee mocktail which was very fresh. They have multiple seating areas which are very nicely furnished and decorated. We decided to just take a regular table inside but if we had a bigger group maybe we would've asked to sit in one of the other areas.

Yelp
This place is amazing, the ambiance is great and the drinks superb. Although not recommended for main course and their food menu is very limited. Service is great and Fernando is the best. This is my number one place for tranquility and amazing view while having a martini.

Yelp
Great rooftop for an outdoor smoke. Plenty of heat lamps up here and solid bites to pass the time during good conversations. Service always feels white-gloved & five star. Cigar prices are heavily marked up, so you're paying for the ambiance, crowd and service, but worth it once in a while just for the relaxation. Highly recommended if you're searching for a different environment to enjoy a good stick (cigar) The Magnum Rosado 52 was a solid choice.

Yelp
Amazing views in a beautiful bar with excellent drinks and top notch service. What else can you ask for? I love the diverse crowd and you can sit at the bar or outside at a table or stand on the balcony.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a rooftop party reserved by a bank, and they did a good job of coordinating the toothpicks (correct bank initial and color), the napkins, the displays, tableclothes and more. They have an audio system in case you need to make a speech, and bathrooms on the other end of the rooftop. The bar tender made a very stiff cocktail, and their special watermelon juice w/ rum and fresh cucumber was a hit with many. The food was hit-and-miss (sliders good, several other finger foods only ok, and lobster rolls were only so-so), but the lovely view and the space made for a very nice evening.

Yelp
The Peninsula hotel has a rooftop bar but its name "Salon de Ning" is a mystery. So I went to their website to find out more. I obviously have way too much free time. Here is a little background (lifted from the Peninsula's website) : "Salon de Ning is inspired by the tale of Madame Ning, a celebrated Shanghai socialite, avid world traveller and international hostess... Ning was a tireless collector of objets sourced during her journeys and her elegant 1930s-era New York penthouse inspired the eclectic design of Salon de Ning.. upon arrival on the 23rd floor, guests pass through a corridor adorned with Venetian mirrors and intricately carved Chinese screens leading to a glass-.." It ends there. Luckily I've been to Salon de Ning and can attest to the intriguing entry. As far as the bar goes, it's high quality. I ordered the "Ning Sling" and although it was expensive (even by NYC standards) it was a five star cocktail. Go here when the weather is nice - the terrace is the place to be IMO. Enjoy the view. Excellent service.

Yelp
This rooftop experience is a perfect venue to wow your out of town guests. The last time I stopped by here, roughly 15 years ago, was when I brought my parents. The indoor bar is cozy, crammed with artwork and windows. It might be tough to find a perch outside, in which case, the windowed seats are just as desirable. Cocktails will run up the tab quickly ($21/ grey goose, $26+ for mixed specialty) - so choose wisely. I enjoyed my Lychee Maria very slowly while gazing out onto skyline/central park views.

Yelp
One of my fav place for drink in the city. I use to go here very often, then I stoped have no idea why lol but started to go there again and I do like it like I use ;) great view , nice music , good cocktails.

Yelp
Unless you're here for work or on someone else's dime, I have no clue why you'd ever set foot in this bar. The food is disgusting and overpriced ($50 for a cold lobster roll or charcuterie plate with 15 slices of meat), and the service was... not up to par for a place like the Peninsula. The clientele was mostly cigar-smoking, botox-rocking older folk. I had to leave after a few hours due to the pungent smell of cigar smoke that was slowly poisoning my brain and well being. So yeah - unless you can get someone else to pay for your drinks and food, I'd say go to another rooftop.
google avatar

Yelp
This was very disappointing. We are staying at the hotel, there are guests not staying at the hotel taking up all the spots. We waited 45 minutes at the bar and couldn't even get a drink. There should be priority to those staying at the hotel. The staff was extremely rude when asking why hotel guests don't have priority.
google avatar

Yelp
CliffsNotes: Nice views/ambiance, poor service, expensive. A pretty perch high above the city, formerly known as Pen Top. Views in every direction, salty nibbles to rouse your thirst, and artistic cocktails to satiate your raging alcoholism (I kid, I kid...). Prices are a little out of this world, admittedly it was my first time seeing $25 cocktails in NYC. But let's face it you're at a hotel bar on the roof with views in each direction, hopefully you're not looking for a bargain... The weather happened to be gorgeous, making my evening here quite memorable. Without a couple snafus this lounge would have deserved four stars... As Salon de Ning became progressively busier (6:30pm) service became painfully slow. We also had an "incident" where a member of our party was given a drink in a martini glass that had a little bit of glass chipped on the rim (the chip was still hanging there). We got the drink replaced, but the new martini glass was also chipped (we gave up on returning drinks, but we were pretty annoyed with the whole ordeal).

Yelp
We went for drinks to Salon De Ning tonight. First off, this place is a total fire hazard. There were about 25 people breathing each other's oxygen crammed into an elevator intended for 10. We got off on the roof level and waited for a table in the bar. One of the busboys was so rude and kept saying, "We're busy, we're busy!" Really? There were wall-to wall people, I know you're busy. Finally we sat down but there were five of us and two had no chairs. Our server finally came over after 20 minutes. We asked for two more chairs and her reply was, "Oh,um, we don't have any chairs." For $50 for a glass of champagne, I think you can afford some more chairs. So we just got up and left and our server didn't care. This is the worst service we have ever received anywhere. The Peninsula Hotel should be ashamed of themselves.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
We arrived a few minutes before 5pm when they open and waited in the lobby. The minute the clock stuck 5 we were on the elevator up and found the first open couches on the outdoor patio! By the time we left an hour later there was a 45 minute wait, and that was on a Tuesday. Heads up it gets crowded. The views alone are a good enough reason to check them out at least once. It took a while for us to get a server but once we did we ordered our wine and hummus platter. It came out pretty quick. There were some gentleman smoking cigars few tables over which was bothersome. I'm not a fan in tight spaces having to inhale smoke. Overall anther rooftop bar checked off my list!
google avatar

Liz T.

Yelp
$25 glass of wine, expensive but at least the pour was big. The vibes and views here are great, they have plastic igloos up in the winter and string lights. A cool place to check out if you're new to the city or a tourist and just want to grab a drink in the evening. Good music.

HH L.

Yelp
Terrible drinks, overpriced menu, awful customer service. The worst was the manager who didn't try to resolve any of our issues we raised and instead suddenly enforced "one drink per person" policy which hadn't been a problem up until then since we've ordered food on the side. They were also playing club music which doesn't go at all with the vibe of the bar at all. There is a reason why this bar has so many negative ratings. Don't go here
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
It's pricey , trendy, and a great place for conversation. Treat yourself to something cool occasionally and life is wonderful

Yelp
Great space and ambiance, horrible service experience. We sat at a table and waited 15 minutes before anyone even looked at us. We were finally greeted by a guy who said, "I'm not supposed to be your waiter, but I guess I can take your order." Boy, is that warm, enthusiastic welcome or what? lol Drinks came and a forth friend joined us late. I asked the same waiter for another cocktail and said that we needed the check as well, since we had a dinner reservation. Ten minutes later, cocktail comes, but no check. I wait longer and finally find the guy and ask him again for the check, again stressing that we really had to go. Another ten minutes goes by and the check arrives. After further inspection, I find that we were overcharged by $27. I get up and find the waiter outside on the patio and explain that we were overcharged and that I needed it corrected ASAP, this now 25 minutes after I first asked him for the check. He then responds to me by saying, "Well, I'm not supposed to be your waiter.". I politely told him that it wasn't my job to figure out who was supposed to be my waiter or not - he took our order and served us the whole night, so, as far as I was concerned, he was our waiter. You should never expose your guests to whatever internal chaos is going on in your business. Five minutes later, a woman arrives and drops the modified check on our table - no "I'm sorry", no "Thanks, have a good night." She just dumps it and runs. Here's the thing, if I'm at TGI Fridays, I can deal with it. If I'm at the Peninsula Hotel and paying $27 for a cocktail, then at least make the slightest attempt to provide mediocre service.
google avatar

Josephine L.

Yelp
Nice views, crazy high prices. I wouldn't come here for more than a $17 pour of whiskey, unless you're some rich guy's lady of the night and don't mind racking up the $$$. I mean, girl, get your money's worth, right?

Yelp
Cool rooftop place with unique views and igloo. Very professional and friendly staff. High end. Excellent drinks. Place to spend quality time. I highly recommend. We will come back :)

Yelp
Salon De Ning is the rooftop bar at The Peninsula Hotel in Midtown. Have been here a few times and always had an ok experience. There is an indoor bar area with barstools and a half dozen low cocktail tables and seats. Outside there is a small balcony where you can take your drink outdoors and look north toward Central Park. An additional terrace area with proper tables and chairs (never sat here, but might require reservations) is toward the eastern/southern exposures. On nice days in the spring/summer, the place will assuredly be jammed, particularly after work on Thursdays or Fridays. The crowd consists of after work office crowd plus many tourists. It can be difficult to maneuver through the space, hot, and hard to get a drink. The bar tenders work like dogs, but the space just gets overwhelmed. Drinks have always been good, and in the $20 range. It's a place to check out, but for a much better experience, try to come at slightly off peak times (i.e. mid/late afternoon).
google avatar

Diana V.

Yelp
First of all I have to mention that the place has great view of city. You can easily get drunk here watching the beauty :) It is a roof top place if you have never been. No entrance fee. A little pricy but worths it. No dress code but still better to look dressy. The cocktails were nice and refreshing. Chill and sexy music taking you away from daily routine. Not so close to subway station so you may consider taking a cab on the way back home.
google avatar

Jake J.

Yelp
Redeeming qualities: great rooftop and well executed cocktails. Poor qualities: Cocktails are $26 plus tax and tip; maitre'd is a total pretentious jerk; the food is terrible (downright terrible and absurdly overpriced). Definitely not worth it go to the Arlo Hotel rooftop or any one of a dozen other rooftops for a better experience. PS I have previously eaten downstairs at the Gotham Lounge and it was a very good and high quality experience (while still being overpriced). Avoid the Salon De Ning, you will be disappointed.

Yelp
Always a top notch service, beautiful atmosphere and amazing music. Always enjoy my nights in here.

Yelp
When my husband and I travel, we often stay at a peninsula hotel. This trip to NY, after attending the NY open we thought we would grab a drink and a snack at salón de Ning. We were abruptly stopped and asked for our vaccination cards, which we gladly provided, but on arrival to the bar, tables were overcrowded and there were numerous children! Cigars are apparently their specialty and the "table" next to us had 4 cigar smokers including a small roughly 10 yo maskless unvaccinated child. The table had 6 kids- all maskless once they entered and at least 8 adults. Another 4 top had 8 people also smoking cigars. We informed the managers that the smoke was bothering us and asked to move to an open table away from the smoke- which was thick from the excessive number of people per table. He said he needed time and promptly seated another group to the open table. Service was horrible, atmosphere is horrible (unless you want to watch children smoke and their mom who forgot to zip the back of her dress). It was so gross that after coming back and washing the smell of smoke out of my hair, I will not stay at this peninsula ever again. CHILDREN SMOKING CIGARS!!!! Why ask for proof of vaccination at bars if you will allow maskless children? I fully support asking, but this suggests a certain degree of safety, which is eliminated by allowing overcrowding with maskless children.

Yelp
Great views. Great ambience. Great music. BUT, when you're charging $27 for a cocktail, would think you would have a season-tailored menu - why does my drink have mint leaves on ice during mid-winter? #ripoff. Come here if you're drinking on someone else's dime. Nothing artistic about this place that warrants a premium price.
google avatar

Joseph B.

Yelp
I thought this bar wasn't too bad. It can get crowded but it has a nice intimate setting and feel. Drinks were good and the view is great especially at night. Plenty of nice picture opportunities for memories. The bartenders were pretty chill and the people there were hilarious. Good place for a date. The drinks are gonna be pricey like what do you expect? I think they were decently priced. If ya can't afford food with your drinks they offer free nuts at the bar.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't travel above 14th St unless there is a really good reason. I hadn't seen a long-time friend in over 2 years, and this is the part of town he plays in, so I obliged, put on some heels and took on the challenge. The rooftop bar is on the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel. Now granted this isn't the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, but it was still rather swanky. This place has amazing views of the city and I can't say no to beautiful views of the city. It was a warm, breezy night and being on a rooftop was just absolutely fantastic. Be forewarned, the cocktails here are extremely pricey. For $22, you could get into a Brooklyn party, have a few drinks, be completely inebriated and have some money left over for greasy pizza later. I ordered the Ning Sling, which is analagous to a Singapore Sling. I was in a South Asia kind of mood, and I have to honestly report that the cocktail was superb. We also had some prosecco but it wasn't as bubbly as I would have liked. This is a playground for those with expensive taste. I prefer a dark and dingey dive, but in life, compromises must be made. My friend is also a Republican. I am not sure how I stomached that, but I guess, like fungus, he eventually grew on me. A great place to impress a date who has collagen fillers and silicone parts. Not a place for a beer-guzzling, tree hugging liberal. But for one night, I pretended to be an "aristocrat." That says a lot about our friendship!

Yelp
Rooftop Heaven Before we sat down to a wonderful and delicious dinner at Clement, we stopped off at this cozy little rooftop bar a top the beautiful Peninsula Hotel. The wine was terrific and the views were spectacular. Thanks Alan! We'll be back soon.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend and we were taking in the view and sat down for less than 10 minutes. In that time, our server came 3 times to ask if we were going to order and then after a minute of him coming back he sent his manager or so over and he basically said we needed to leave because we had not ordered super fast and there was other people waiting?? We left at their request and saw not one person waiting for a table here. They rushed service to try to get us to order something and ultimately kick people out if they take 10 minutes to order. I came here to enjoy time with my boyfriend and take in the view and conversate with him, not to be rushed to order the second we got seated.

Yelp
Cool bar. Great photo opportunity if you get there early. Food was fine.
google avatar

Yelp
The rooftop bar had decent views, but it wasn't amazing. We sat for about 15 minutes, and no one came to greet us, didn't get a menu (had to take one from another table), and still no one came to take our order. The drinks are super expensive (average of $27 or so), but the service is really bad. You can find better rooftop bars elsewhere.
google avatar

Lor W.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends for after-dinner drinks. What's better than an outdoor bar in the spring? We called ahead and managed to reserve a cabana, which was a huge plus. It was a beautiful night and there were a lot of people milling around the rooftop by the time we arrived (after 10:30 PM). Anyone who knows me knows that I like a stiff drink, and the cucumber martini I had was killer. What the hell was in that thing? Moonshine? Jet fuel? One martini did the trick, so the cost was really not an issue for me. I don't mind shelling out $18 for a cocktail, provided it knocks me on my ass. The drinks at Salon de Ning are pricey, but that is to be expected...you're paying for ambiance and it is Manhattan, after all. My entire party was pleased with their libations. If you plan to venture here with a larger group, it might be a good idea to reserve a cabana or a table. Plus, if your drinks are strong as ours were, you're going to have trouble standing up by the end of the night. You'll be thankful for a seat.

Yelp
The views from here are absolutely amazing. Depending on what day you attend and where you plant yourself, you can have different vibes. There are 3 outdoor areas with views: Right Side: north balcony /ledge, the smallest of the three but my favorite view (view of the North including down 5th Ave which go all the way up along Central Park). Right Side: E/SE outdoor patio is smaller than the other patio but great views nonetheless. Definitely more social than the other patio but harder to grab a seat. Left Side: W/NW outdoor patio: older crowds, good for work meetings, plenty of tables for sitting down but they fill up. Of all the NYC rooftop bars, I think this is the most expensive of them all. I would say this is a classy place but not that pretentious (but a bit still depending on what side you sit on). All tables require a CC and charge a rooftop fee unless you are able to close out your tab and request to pay in cash instead. One thing this rooftop bar features that others don't is a cigar selection. Definitely go to the right had side. It's a more social crowd, has seats at the bar, and you can sit inside and still have a view outside (definitely a plus during super hot days as the other patio doesn't have umbrellas for all the tables).

Yelp
If $20 cocktails are your thing, this is a good place to get them. It's on the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel with a small inside bar and a well-sized patio for hanging al fresco. The views of Central Park and 5th Ave/Midtown are stellar, to be sure. Alas, I don't like paying $20 for cocktails so unless I'm on someone else's tab, I won't be a regular here.

Yelp
************* REVIEW 202 **************** 1 of the best views of NYC at night. You can have 360 degree view of the city! This place is more for business people rather that the typical tourists. I know people complain about the pricey drinks here, but they have some of the best mixtologists here. They can make some of the best cocktail & martinis & shake it so well that the drinks are so smooth! Cosmopolitan, Dirty Martini, Raspberry Lemondrop are so good here! This is the Peninsula, no other, you definitely get what you pay for!

Yelp
Crowded, un-refined vibe, so-so cocktails, and sub-par service (took awhile for us to get the bill). You would expect much more given the price you are paying for your drinks.

Yelp
Expensive yet tasteful. Worth it.

Yelp
Two for the view and that's about it. Since the drink prices are astronomically expensive and I look quite young, the waitress did not give us a 'snack bowl' like all the other parties when we order our drinks. Instead ordring more rounds, we left feeling very unwelcome. Because I have a conscious I tipped her a normal percent, but other than that, the tip was not deserved. It is sad that a nice hotel like the Peninsula is as rude at this. I definitely prefer the service in the Chicago Peninsula.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink after doing some damage on 5th. It was raining so the out door portion was not in the offing. When we got there the seating area was full but the waiter quickly pulled some extra ottomans and a table together and found us a spot off to the side. Ordered the 'Hot as a Cucumber': vodka, cucumber, habanero martini which was very good. Wife got the 'Raspberry Royale': raspberry vodka, framboise and champagne which she liked. Came with some bar snacks. Nice setting and while the prices are high it is to be expected. Would like to come back in the evening when it is warmer and sit on the roof deck with a good cigar.

Yelp
One of the best experiences I've had at a NYC rooftop have been here!!! It's a high-end rooftop bar located in the Peninsula Hotel :) it has a beautiful decor & a small menu of amazing appetizers. I came here for my friends birthday and we had such an amazing time! Loved their cocktails, and beautiful city views, including the entire Fifth Ave! It's a great place and ambiance to watch the sunset during the summer :) Definitely can't wait to go again soon!

Yelp
Being able to party and drink on top of a huge building is amazing, so why wouldn't you come here. Sure the drinks are expensive, but it's new york. Give me a break, 6-packs start at 10bucks. So you're gonna complain that drinks are 15 or 20 at a bar? Then move. Otherwise come here because it's amazing.

Yelp
I don't live in New York, but if I did, it would be a place I visited every so often, if that. $24 for a drink is pretty much unsustainable, methinks. But now onto the good. Whatever you order, it'll probably be fantastic and well-crafted. I got the blueberry sling. It was fantastic. I like sweet/sour drinks, and this drink delivered. Blueberry vodka, simple syrup, club soda, and other ingredients (which I've forgotten) in a glass, with a touch of foam = bliss. It doesn't hurt that you're looking out at the rest of the city. The crowd is pretty young and relaxed, so it's not super stuffy. This is a great place to unwind and have a drink or two, but those numbers add up pretty quickly!

Yelp
Hmm it's an ok bar, considering the fact that it is located at the rooftop of Peninsular hotel, that the outdoor view was actually pretty gorgeous. Drink menu was a bit limited, and even shorter for non-alcoholic drinks. I settled myself with the lychee purée with basil leaves, it was rather, hmm underwhelming. Definitely stop by if you plan to have an amazing view of the city, paired with some sort of alcohol; but do not emphasize too much on the quality of drink itself. I don't know if I'm the first one got confused by their elevators, but seems to me that in order to get to the R floor where the bar is located, you need to enter a tiny hall way to your right immediately entering into the building. The regular elevators would never take you to the correct place!
