The 38 Best Restaurants in Indianapolis, Indiana

"Open for: Thursday to Friday afternoonsPrice range: $Pizza started as a hobby for former NFL SkyCam operator Jeffrey Samuel Miner until he won fifth place for his Detroit-style pie at the International Pizza Expo in 2023. In 2024, he came in second and opened Sam’s Square Pie on the city’s Near Eastside, serving up pillowy crusts topped with zesty and savory toppings like smoked maple syrup, garlic jalapeño ricotta, pesto, and three types of pepperoni.Best for: Pies and drinks with friends, especially after the restaurant recently snagged a beer and wine license and set up rotating beers on tap." - Brian Garrido

Pizza is AMAZING & we were eating the marinara & ranch with a spoon. Owner is lovely, service was very good and quick. Vibes are immaculate. Drove down from Lafayette just for the pizza & it was well worth it. Can’t wait to take friends here!

Google
After months salivating over their Instagram feed, we finally tried Sam's Square Pie. We were immediately and kindly welcomed by Sam, the owner. The fluffy and chewy crust, crispy cheese, and generous portion of delicious toppings made this Detroit-style pizza some of the most delicious pizza! We also tried the new gluten-free crust, which, while thinner, held the toppings very well and was tasty.

Google
This is hands down the best Detroit-style pizza around! We drove 30 minutes to try it, and it was absolutely worth it. The owner is incredibly friendly and passionate about community and connection. The crust has a light, airy texture with the perfect crisp. The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic, though seating is limited. We ordered ahead (about a 45-minute wait) and had our pizza ready as soon as we arrived. We will definitely be back! I’m drooling thinking about it! Highly suggest the crushstar!

This is a really nice place. The staff is very friendly and their Detroit style pizza and garlic bread are fire!!🔥 One small pizza can fill you really easy. Everything is homemade and the dough is fermented for many hours, which makes it easier to digest. Me and my husband will definitely be back again!

Google
Ok so this place is a destination for PIZZA in Indy. Let me say that I love thin crust pizza—I don’t go for anything but. We come in for the race every year from PA—and make this a key stop. This is my new exception to thin crust, and Sam’s is exceptional. The Detroit style is my new friend—just as friendly as Sam is himself. Go check it out!!

Google
I actually have a lot of words of praise for their pizzas here but haven't had the chance to put it all together yet. But all you need to know this is ABSOLUTELY one hell of a GEM of a pizza joint. House-smoked maple syrup on a pizza is never something I would have though up but it is divine 🤌 I'll come back to add more about this place. But you MUST COME EAT HERE.

Google
First the pizza was fantastic! The service was great! Sam the owner was really polite and nice. Just a really good experience and I'll definitely be back. Got El Jefe and Crush star? Both were just awesome. The Jalapeno Whip they put on the pizzas need to be bottled and sold!

Google
Unforgettable Pizza Experience at Sam’s Square Pizza While in town for the Indy 500—I was searching for a place that offered more than just another slice. I came across Sam’s Square Pizza and decided to give it a try based on the reviews. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. As soon as we walked through the door, we were welcomed by Sam himself. His genuine hospitality and enthusiasm for what he does were immediately clear. It is not every day you walk into a restaurant and feel like the owner is as excited to serve you as you are to eat. We ordered “The El Jefe,” and I have to admit, I was not prepared for what landed on our table. The crust was thick but surprisingly light—perfectly baked and clearly the result of serious attention to the dough (I later learned it's cold-fermented for four days). The balance of flavors—ricotta, jalapeño, and a subtle honey glaze—was on point. Sweet heat with a creamy finish. Just outstanding. This is the kind of pizza that makes you rethink what you thought pizza could be. If you are in Indy, skip the chains and head straight to Sam’s. It is not just about the food—it is about the experience, the passion, and the people. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I can't believe it but I had never heard of this place until I read about it in the newspaper. I know that seems crazy but after I read about them I had to look it up and all of the pictures and comments are pretty good so I had to try it for myself. You have to go to the pizza shop to order they don't have a phone. You can park out front if there is a spot on 10th but if not there is a parking lot out back. There is a nice area to sit down to eat as well as a place to wait If you are getting it to go like I did. I ordered 2 small pizzas an El Jefe and a pepperoni. It was about a 20min wait. The pizza held up nicely on the way home and was as good as it looked. You may not think hot honey is a good idea when you read the description but it compliments the pizza well. The crust is also perfect, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I can't wait to share this spot with others.

Yelp
A lovely little shop - come support local I'm not the biggest fan of Detroit style but this was delicious. Also don't skip out on the garlic knots! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great Detroit style pizza! I have been dying to try Sam's Square Pie since before their brick and mortar location opened. The pictures of the pies make my mouth water, and justly so. I ordered an El Jefe for pickup on a Saturday evening. Wait time was 45 minutes which, honestly, was right about what I had figured based on how busy they might be. I was maybe 5 minutes past my pickup time and got the notification that my pizza was ready just before I arrived. That's a pretty accurate estimated time. This was my first time in their restaurant and loved the set up. Very clear pickup area, and I was greeted immediately upon entering. The dining space isn't large by any means but it was clean and welcoming. I will say, if you haven't been in this area of Indy before, be warned that this is a bit of a sketchy zone. Across the street there is a gas station and bus stop that have hosted quite a few criminal incidents. Sam's Square Pies and a few other businesses are starting to lift up the area but just stay aware when getting in and out of your car around here. Now, the best part. The pizza itself. I wasn't feeling terribly hungry, but ordered a large in order to have leftovers. But that dough, the sauce, the toppings...one bite and I thought that I should have ordered two pies. I love this pizza! I stuffed myself with a few pieces and a garlic knot. Not sure if the garlic knots are intentionally a little soft, kind of doughy. They were delicious, but I typically prefer a little more of a crunch to my garlic knots. Different strokes for different folks. I ate the leftover pizza for lunch and dinner the next day. I cannot wait to try other pizzas from Sam's Square Pies. Phenomenal experience.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best pizza I've ever had. My husband and I eat a lot of pizza and try a lot of pizza/styles and we couldn't get over how perfect this pizza was. We ordered online ahead of time and though our pizza wasn't ready when we arrived once we got it, it came out hot and delicious. On top of the amazing pizza, the space and restroom were clean and service was extremely friendly. It's the perfect little chill and cozy pizza spot. I can't wait to go again.

Yelp
I love this place! Finally, a great pizza place in my neighborhood. I hope this place continues to do well and sticks around for a long time! The pizza is fabulous. It is detroit style so it is a large rectangle and it is thick. 1-2 slices will do you well. You can easily split a pizza between 3 people (IMO) unless everyone is very hungry. The service is great. I sat at the bar top counter and really enjoyed speaking with the server. She was super friendly and overall the restaurant has a great neighborly vibe to it. I will continue to get pizza from here! Only gave 4 starts instead of 5 due to the limited seating and they did not serve alcohol (at least when I was there). These aren't big deals, but just explaining my star review! Support local everyone!

Yelp
I had heard good things about Sam's Square Pie, but I was not prepared for the pizza to be one of my favorites EVER. Detroit style is my favorite type of pizza and Sam's knocks it out of the park. I got the Crushstar, which has red sauce and pesto, fresh basil, hot honey, and lots of cheese. The crust has perfectly crisp edges with caramelized cheese, the toppings are fresh and flavorful, and it all comes together in perfect harmony with the hot honey drizzle. The pizza is very filling, but leftovers are just as good the next day.

Yelp
This place is tiny but a real gem, the pizza is fantastic, fresh ingredients and dough is delicious. A small has 6 large pieces, easily feeds 3. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, I have not experienced this type of service in a very long time. They genuinely made you feel like they were very happy you came in. Fresh flowers on every table was such a nice touch, especially when it's 20 degrees out. We really enjoyed our Saturday night at Sam's Square Pie. Think they just opened 11 months ago, but sure hope they will consider bringing that success story to Fletcher place and fountain square neighborhood 's. I'm thinking take over 3 Carrots old location. Please! Regardless you have a new fan, and I will share your deliciousness with everyone I know.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Detroit style pizza! It's my new favorite in Indy. The ingredients are clean and the cheese is high quality. The crispy edges are a treat. It's easy to get full on two slices, so a large pie (8 slices) was perfect for our group. They have nine varieties of pizza to choose from, including garlic knots and cheesy garlic bread. The employees were super friendly. There is a dine-in area with a few tables and chairs and it's a nice ambiance inside with art on the walls.

Yelp
There's pizza and then there's Sam's! I heard great things about this spot prior to eating here and it definitely lived up to the hype. Amazing pizza, friendly staff, and good vibes. Proportions are great too! Get to this place.. ASAP.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Detroit style pizza I've ever had! I went the drifter and it was so flavorful and good. I would highly recommend Sam's to locals and traveler's alike . Seriously one of the best pies of my life. I also heard the owner say that his pizza took 2nd place in an international pizza makers competition. Indy's best kept secret but not for kind
google avatar

Abigail W.

Yelp
If you have never had pizza like this...this is the place! This is one of those places you see on Instagram and just have to hit up. The crispy edges, the fresh sauce, and ricotta dollops...HEAVEN! I recommend extra hot honey and extra napkins. The garlic knots are also 10/10, anything would be with the amazing sauce. Don't over order (or DO if you want extra), but you will probably eat a garlic knot or two and a slice and tap out.

Yelp
My ears perk up a bit when I hear the words pizza and East Side in the same sentence. There's a nice backstory about this spot and I suggest anyone curious to check out the multiple stories in local media on this. I've been converted to Detroit-Style pizza since moving to the Midwest and naturally this becomes an easy must-try option. I see this as a completely different approach than Futuro so if you're looking for a comparison there isn't much of one. Sam's Square Pie really embraces the art of a crispy cheese edge to an extent that it becomes a very distinct outside layer. The pizza itself becomes very stable to hold a piece despite heavy toppings, but also the greasiness feels contained. Overall it is a nice presentation and the sauce/toppings are added on artfully. You will feel the calorie density as you eat the pizza, it's a rewarding experience. Normally I make my way deep into a pizza but found myself tapping out two slices into the El Jefe. A true meat lovers experience can be had with the El Jefe as well as other options. I look forward to seeing more collaborations and combinations.

Yelp
What a quaint little pizza shop. I really liked the decor here. Somebody got creative. The staff was super friendly and helpful. You order at the counter and if you are dining in, your pie will be brought out to you. Be aware that everything is served in paperplates and cups and plastic cutlery. It can be a challenge to cut a deep Detroit style pizza with a puny little plastic knife. I opted to just eat with my hands as soon as it was cool enough to do so... Yes I did burn both hands and mouth at first since some of us just can't wait a minute. Anyway, the pizza may seem small for the price, but it is very filling so keep that in mind. I enjoyed the "James". I don't know who James is, but his pizza is delish. Nice and cheesey with a glob of savory red sauce on top. Now what sets this one apart is the little drizzle of Hot Honey, just enough so tantalize your tastebuds, not drowned in it. It could use a bit more of the toppings, but that's just my opinion. Beforehand we had the galic knots which came in a set of three and had plenty of garlic sauce swimming in the basket, so you could dip every bite into that garlicky goodness. This place gets a thumbs up from me. There is also ample parking behind the building.

Yelp
Sam's Square Pie stands out in the world of pizza, where every slice is a delight, but this one is truly top-notch. The crust is insatiable, striking the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, making each bite unforgettable. The toppings are generously portioned and harmoniously combined, elevating the overall experience. Plus, Anna at the front provides the best customer service, making every visit feel special. If you're a pizza lover, Sam's Square Pie is an absolute must-try--it redefines what great pizza can be.

Yelp
In the top two best pizza places in Indy for me. This Detroit style pizza will change your life! Love the thick focaccia-like crust, cheese on top, then sauce on top of that. The El Jefe is a must get. The combo of hot honey and pepperoni hits different! Also must get is the garlic knots. They're so soft and buttery and perfectly seasoned, you'll never want another chain pizza breadstick or garlic bread ever again! Whatever you do, make sure you try the ranch too. They're very prompt with having their online orders ready at the designated pickup time for carry out but there's also some space to sit inside as well. The workers are super friendly. I ordered a pizza, garlic knots, and two drinks and the girl behind the counter offered to help me carry everything to my car. The pizza is super filling and the slices are big. A small one with garlic knots definitely feeds 2-3 if you're debating what size to get!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
Mmmm! This pizza is so good! Garlic knots and the pizza were so tasty and different than your usual pizza experience. Service was great and I love the casual but fun setting. You can order carry out or dine in, ordering at the counter. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the sauce on top of the pizza but turns out I'm a fan. Mikes hot honey on top is also a nice touch.

Mary Beth H.

Yelp
My girls and I went Friday night to Sam's Square Pie. It is everything and more! When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by the friendliest counter staff. She is very helpful in talking you through the menu and what might meet your taste. We went with the garlic knots and El Jeffe pizza. The garlic knots were light and fresh and were coated with real butter and fresh garlic. They were delicious! Then, comes the pizza ! It is to die for! It is a Detroit style pizza. The crust is light and airy. It is not heavy at all. Then it is encrusted in crunchy cheese edges. There is a good amount of cheese on the pizza. The meat that comes with the el jeffe is pepperoni and sausage. There was a large amount of pepperoni on the pizza. It is then topped with fresh sauce whipped jalapeño ricotta cheese and topped of with Mike's hot honey. Once you take a bite, all you can say is OMG this is delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant is really artsy which I love ! You must give Sam's Square Pie a try!

Yelp
This was our second time to dine at Sam's Square Pie at 2829 E. 10th Street, across from the old Pogue's Run store and next door to Another Fine Mess. The area is challenged for sure, which makes us love the owner, Jeff, even more. He took a risk opening where he did. But it's really nice inside with fresh flowers on the tables and fun artwork and music posters on the walls. It's also clean and well run. We enjoyed sitting at the bar tonight so we could chat with Jeff about music and other things. But the food, you ask? Let me tell you, he has the best pizza and garlic knots either of us has ever had. Anywhere. He told us he hears that a lot, and I believe that to be true. It's Detroit-style and perfect in every way. The dough alone will make you thankful you're alive. We ordered their small Just Kissed pizza (six hearty slices), an order of garlic knots, and two waters, and the bill came to $27 without the tip. It's so reasonable, especially since we brought home leftovers. They're open Thursday through Sunday and are absolutely worth your visit. You can dine in or order carryout.

Yelp
Best tasting Pizza in indy. The cream sauce they put on is mind blowing. Fairly thick crust with crunchy edges. Amazing sauce and cheese. It's a truly unique Za

Yelp
I have been following Sam's Square Pies journey for quite some time and I finally got my hands on a pie. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and walked through the menu options. The staff was super friendly and the owner was walking through chatting with the locals. I just love to see the neighborhood connection and care. I decided to go with the El Jefe which is two kinds of pepperoni, spicy italian sausage, brick cheese blend, red sauce, jalapeno garlic ricotta, Mike's hot honey, pecorino and parmesan. Let me tell you... this red sauce is amazing. It tastes like your nona was stewing it on the stove for days just to perfection. All the different flavoring elements hit on this pizza. The ingredients all tasted fresh and high quality. I definitely recommended

Yelp
Nestled on the near east side , plenty of parking, seating is cozy with tables close together, walked in at 630 and was able to sit without a wait, service was interesting as my order was started then stopped several times due to more important people coming in. Wait time on the pizza was about 20 minutes, not bad , had garlic knots which were tasty but in my opinion were drenched in butter and a bit messy, they came out with the pizza, the pizza, thick and hearty, delicious sauce, thick and tangy , thick crust which was at times a bit chewy, plastic utensils on a pizza this thick does not work, ended up eating the pizza with my hands which was difficult due to the thickness and chewy nature of the pie. Overall service was interesting could use some help, pizza was ok. Pizza, knots and 2 drinks 50$
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza. Small place in former 18th st brewing off 10th and rural on near east side. Order at counter and they bring food to you. Pizza is very filling. Each pie comes with 8 pieces. I ate 4 and felt incredibly full, and I am usually insatiable. It's detroit style deep dish. Ingredients high quality. Truly is craft pizza. The pics that have been posted do not do this pizza justice in terms of shear size. These things are good for 3-4 people per pizza. Because I underestimated, ordered two pizzas, did not even get through a quarter of the total pizza between 2 ppl. Cost seemed high (pay when order at counter) until pizzas were delivered and at that point the elevated prices were justified IMO. Did cost over 90 dollars for two pizzas, garlic knots just as heads up. Will definitely return for one pizza next time!

Yelp
There really aren't enough words to describe how good this pizza is. I first had Sam's Square Pie when Jeff started making pizzas during 2020 and he was making them anywhere he could. It was the best pizza I had ever had. I knew I had to get back for more. Fast forward to December of 2023, and Jeff has outdone himself. He has refined the pizza and somehow made it even better than before. He truly cares about the art of making these, and loves to share with his patrons. The new space is great, not too big, not too small. An intimate setting for a food that is best shared with friends. I showed up with a huge group of coworkers, and for DAYS it was all anyone could talk about. We are all talking about our next trip to Indy. The pizza is super filling. 2 pieces will leave you full, and 4 will leave you walking slow! We tried one of everything, and there is nothing bad on the menu! If I had to pick just one, it's the International Pizza Award winning El Jefe. Show up hungry, leave happier than you've ever been at a pizza parlor.

Yelp
I FINALLY got one!! Sams Square Pie BABY!!! OMG this man's story and journey will warm your heart, but I went in for that Detroit style crispy crust friends! We tried the "Just Kissed My Baby" Two kinds of pepperoni, brick cheese blend, red sauce, Mike's hot honey, jalapeno garlic ricotta, pecorino and parmesan. The Garlic Knots and Cheesy Bread. I thought for SURE the pie dough and cheesy bread would be my fave - I mean BRING ON ALLLLLLL THE BREAD!! However - his sauce is truly the star!! Holy GET IN MY BELLY hail - whatever he's got in it - I'll take a GALLON!! WOW. And the garlic knots perfectly baked and drizzled with AMAZING garlic infused butter - yeah what cheesy bread?? Do yourself a favor and ORDER NOW!! You will be blown away!!

Yelp
"We know we're right before we know why we're right. First we decide, then we deduce." Louis Menand, The Metaphysical Club. When it comes to pizza I have a problem; specifically, I'm from a part the country that had a higher than average number of Italian-Americans and, therefore, a large number of good to excellent pizzerias. Since moving to Indy, I've found a lot of good pizza (King Dough, for one) but none that I found to be exceptional. Sam's fills that void. I've been lucky enough to follow the Sam's journey from pop-ups in SoBro and Indy's Kitchen to the establishment of a brick and mortar at 10th and Rural. One thing is consistent, and that's the quality of the pie. Currently working primarily in the Detroit style (think a deeper, pillowy inside leading to crunchy cheesy edges), the pizza shows the mark of someone who really cares and focuses on execution. The sauce has the right amount of tang and spice, the toppings are of a high quality (and ample), and the crust ties it all together. The first time I had Sam's, I knew that it was the best pizza in Indianapolis. After having it a few more times, I know my first instinct was the right one.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible pizza! Loved it. Service is top notch! Love the atmosphere. Genuine and friendly staff. Go now. You will thank me for it!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place since I heard they were open. However, I must say I don't understand all the hype. My husband stopped by to bring a pizza home and was told they don't take special requests/changes, and the cheese was the "veggie" option. This was basically a BIG chunk of dry focaccia with an overly cooked thin cheese top with sugar crusted crunchy crispy edges and dollops of sauce with very little flavor overall. The garlic knots were basically sitting in a puddle of melted butter. My 7 yr old thought it was fun and messy. I'll stick to my favorite Italian seasoned Chicago thin crust pizza or the special occasion Chicago deep dish. Detroit, if this is all you have, you can keep it.
google avatar

Taylor M.

Yelp
Saw Sam's on Instagram, and a few coworkers heavily encouraged us to take the short drive to Fountain Square to check it out. Absolutely incredible. I think the picture speaks for itself. We tried the El Jefe pizza. Owner and staff were all very friendly. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Marylee J.

Yelp
I'm convinced the people of Indiana don't know what pizza should actually taste or be like. Waited an hour after being quoted 30 mins for a $42 Detroit style pepperoni pie. It was more like they baked the dough (absolutely delicious, I'll give you that), took it out of the oven, then poured an insane amount of sauce over it and scattered some pepperoni on top at the very last minute. Nothing was cohesive or seemed baked together. I've had much much better pies of this style at a far less price point both in Indy and in NJ. Super disappointed & greasy.

Lindsey K.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza in the city. Dough was nice and fluffy with a good crust on the edge, the sauces were super flavorful, and flavor combo was great of the pizza. We got the high plains drifter and definitely plan to go back. We pre-ordered for pick up and everything was ready right on time. Great pizza and friendly staff.

Melissa A.

Yelp
Wonderful locally owned business in the heart of Indy's East Side. The shop was warm and welcoming with fun and eclectic decor. Staff was friendly and did a great job of making recommendations as it was our first time there. We started with the garlic knots. They were hot and fresh and had a wonderful flavor with plenty of melted butter. Pizzas came out with the most amazing crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside crust. Toppings were plentiful and premium in quality. A large size had 8 generous slices. We enjoyed the Bitchin Camaro and Crush star. Both were flavorful and delicious. Experience was 10/10! Can't wait to go back. If you have been on the fence on trying it -go for it! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled into Sam's Square Pie while visiting Another Fine Mess and just needed to sit for a minute and get a drink. The service and staff were amazing. The murals and paintings are amazing, all hand painted by an employee. I wasn't hungry so didn't plan to order anything. While we were there, a couple of people received their order of El Jeffe. It looked so good I ordered one to take home. Best pizza I have ever had. I am not adding a picture because there are several already posted. The garlic knots were swimming in garlic butter...they were delicious. Because the staff is so friendly, it is a very comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend Sam's Square Pie!

Matthias Y.

Yelp
What a great, new experience! I heard good things about this place. They did not let down. It was fun to try the Detroit style pizza. The staff were friendly and the website was easy to place an order. I ordered take-out, but the restaurant would be a cozy place to eat at. Lots of parking in the back!

Yelp
Excellent pizza and customer service!!!!! The ambience is phenomenal and the attention given to the customers is unparalleled!!! Loved the experience!!!

Yelp
OMG we saw a post about this pizza place and we had to check it out. The service was excellent the place is very cool inside and what the pizza is the bomb. I asked how long they have been there and they said since February. Everyone go and support Sam's Square Pizza, you will not be disappointed!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great Detroit style pizza in Indy. Had the Just Kissed my baby pizza and their garlic cheese bread which were awesome. We were worried the jalapeño garlic ricotta may be too spicy but was not the case at all! Caramelized crust was done perfectly. Bread base is thicker like you'd expect in this style pizza. Honestly the two items alone we ordered could easily feed a family of four. We did takeout and service was efficient and friendly. Will be back!
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
Just finishing Just Kissed My Baby. Unbelievable!!! My new favorite Detroit pizza place. Stop in soon. The crust crispy. The sauce robust and the pepperoni spicy!! Can't wait to try Bitchin Camaro next time. Maybe tomorrow!!!!
google avatar

Kieron M.

Yelp
this pizza is so great, if you love like deep dish. We we decided to have it every week!

Yelp
I am not a deep dish lover. Tried The Loving Cup and it was amazing! Get some now. Friendliest service you could ask for. Support local business owners.

Yelp
I've been trying to get a Sam's Square Pie for 3 years and it was worth the wait! All the hype is real!!! Pizza is life

Yelp
Everything about this place was incredible. The service, the food, the ambience. I couldn't recommend this place more. I will absolutely be back.

Joshua J.

Yelp
This dude should go back to filming NFL games. The pizza isn't what he thinks it is unless you like sticking dry wash cloths in your mouth. Read the negative reviews on here and Google, every one of them he belittles the writer for their opinion. Arrogant condescending A hole. A year, maybe 2 and his business will be gone like all the others in that spot, once the next new thing comes along.

Neek C.

Yelp
The best Detroit style pizza I've ever had. Seriously. Also, the owner was very cool and the service was excellent. The place isn't big but the pizza is worth every penny. The El Jefe won 5th place in a pizza competition in Vegas. The pizza had 2 types of pepperoni, spicy sausage, hot honey, and jalapeño garlic ricotta. And the presentation was so good I didn't want to eat it at first. The crust was crispy and light in the middle. Plenty of cheese. The sauce was excellent. The entire pizza was amazing. The only knock is the price. But still it's worth it. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
AMAZING Detroit-style pizza! We live in New York and travel often throughout the U.S., so we've had a lot of great pizza over the years, but this is near the top. Perfectly crunchy outer crust, super flavorful toppings, and gooey brick cheese - everything you could ask for and more from a great Detroit-style pizza. Very friendly team as well!

Yelp
Had Sam's Square Pie today for the first time. The pizza is excellent! I highly recommend the El Jefe. Restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Jeff, the owner, awesome guy! Best pizza in Indy! Get to Sam's!

Yelp
A friend just stopped in with 2 pies and I was stunned at how good this product is. Indy Now has a Solid landmark worthy pizza parlor. I cannot think of anything they could've done to make this better. Solid 5 star Detroit style pizza in a pizza barren city.

Yelp
When Emeril opened in the warehouse, District people thought he was insane. The warehouse District in New Orleans is now booming. When I drove up to Sam Square pies. I thought he lost his mind until I tasted the pizza and realised Indy will build homes and Security to resurrect this area based on this new landmark. I've had pizza at Pepe e grani, Lucali Spago and Bianco. This pizza definitely stands up to those greats. As I just said to a friend, it's pizza worth risking your life for.

Yelp
Brand new pizza spot in Indianapolis that I couldn't recommend more, specialising in Detroit style and square pizza. The food is amazing, decor is interesting with a genuine, enjoyable setting, but the thing that stood out most about this place was the service and owner. My friend and I came in relatively late on July 4th but he was incredibly pleasant and went out of his way to make conversation with us, explaining the history of square pizza, the recent history of this spot as well as expressing interest in how we got to Indianapolis (we're from London) and why we came in on that day! HIGHLY recommend this place and will be going back many times!
