Yelp
first stop in miami for food thanks to the rave reviews and it did not disappoint! we had the ropa vieja, vaca frita, pina colada, mojito, cuban coffee, and a mamey shake. everything was delicious, fresh, and came out pretty quickly even during a full dinner service. the drinks were tasty and the food was authentic and well-seasoned.
the coffee was strong and sweet, the perfect complement. the shake was more like a smoothie, it really wasn't sweet at all, but it was really good. the mojito was refreshing and the pina colada was great--not overly sweet, with an extra little spice to it.
the portions were hearty. entrees come with two sides, so between us, we tried the cassava (yucca), sweet plantains, rice, and beans. i'd never had vaca frita before, but it was an explosion of flavor and the slight char from the grill. it was also falling apart, it was so tender. i have leftovers and i'm so glad i get to eat this again! the ropa vieja was also super flavorful and yummy, and the sides rounded out the meal perfectly.
service was friendly and prompt, and the place is really cute inside, with lots of greenery and warm lighting. it was a bit more expensive than cuban food normally is in miami, but for a spot with great food and drinks in a touristy area, it wasn't bad at all. i would definitely return on another trip down here!
